Excellent accommodation, very conveniently located. Easy bus to Stonehenge and within walking distance of so many attractions. It’s an old building with many expected quirks. The courtyard is beautiful and relaxing to take a beer.

All the staff we met did their best to be helpful. The £20 car park was not fit for purpose: I had to be guided to park between pillars that were so close that then I could not open all the car doors. The room was supposed to be wheelchair accessible, but there was a step and a very stiff door into it, and there was no hand rail by the WC. The choice at breakfast was very limited; the orange juice was very watery; there was an extra charge of £3.50 for hot chocolate on top of the £16.50 charge for breakfast, which had no reduction for those that did not want a cooked breakfast. Our cooked breakfast took so long to arrive that we were refunded the charge for breakfast! The computer at Reception was very slow.

Nice hotel in centre of Salisbury.Public Car Park available next door,free parking 18.00- 08.00.Quirky old hotel with corridor’s everywhere.Hotel room had opening windows but was quite stuffy,with excessive tog duvets for time of year.Breakfast was fine,with choice of continental or cooked.Plenty restaurants within easy walking distance for evening meal.

Lovely pub/hotel and the staff are excellent. The site has limited parking so book ahead if you wish to reserve a space. In a great location within the centre of Salisbury, close to the Cathedral, shops and restaurants. Can be a little noisy at night, but worth it for the convenience.

The Building is an old one. However, interesting and clean.The Rooms are dated and furniture needs updating. Bed clean and comfortable the en-suite very good and shower efficient. The Breakfast very good and plenty of variety. The Car Park too small restrictive and dangerous. The Receptionists and Staff very helpful courteous and lovely.

No hot water in my room evening or no hot shower but was ok in the morning. Also when booking says parking available but only get a email saying it’s £20 to park on site and no option to cancel the hotel and move to another with parking included and because of this I won’t stay there again

Dreadful “car park” can’t use before 3pm check in. £20 to park. Difficult to turn car, reverse onto 2 lane one way busy street. Old hotel, staff trying hard to provide good service. Lovely outdoor seating courtyard area. No air con but fans provided.

With the exception of the lift being broken everyone and everything was lovely. A 2nd key card wiuld have been nice for the other guest would have been more convenient. Cheers.

The receptionist was most unhelpful when we enquired about parking. We were advised to park (illegally) in the loading zone at the entrance, then later told to go to the hotel carpark, which we found locked and full. Then tried public car parks which were full, and finally returned to the illegal park at the front of the hotel. Eventually, after we had dined, we found space in a public car park - just as well I don't drink! All the other staff we encountered were wonderful.

Loved the historical aspect of the hotel. Very convenient to the center of town and the cathedral ..The staff was excellent. The dining was very good and the courtyard and its resident cat delightful. The only I didnt like was there is no lift to get to the upper rooms…the stairs were very narrow. Summer could be a bit hot as there is no AC but that is common in Europe and the Uk. Would definitely stay again.

Hotel claims to be a 4 star hotel yet they have failed on main criteria for a 1 star hotel which is cleanliness. The hotel is dated, a bit run down and at the same time has so much potential. The light curtains in our room were ripped and had holes in them. The top of the headboard was dusty, we pulled the bed off the headboard as wanted to connect the 2 single beds so we don't slide around and the floor was also very dusty, it was evident that it has not been vacuumed in a very long time. The bathroom was very poor, the taps and shower head had rust and limescale and the shower curtain was mouldy. Very disappointing stay overall as looking at the website pictures it did not live up to those expectations. The courtyard is lovely with all the flowers and plants growing around the building but that's about it. I worked at a 4star hotel before and this was not to the standard of what 4 star hotel should be like. Would not stay there again.

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and it’s true for this hotel, but not how you would expect. First impressions were good. You approach through a lovely courtyard and into reception, where the greeting was warm and inviting. It was refreshing to be greeted by local people for a change. We were shown most of the way to our room, but from here on in, things went downhill a bit. Our room (84) was stiflingly hot with no air con and the windows were shut. A fan had been provided but due to the heat, it only blew hot air around. There were no net curtains in the window, so although we weren’t overlooked, it felt a bit exposed. The window was filthy. There was no ventilation in the bathroom and the mirrors weren’t heated so after a shower or bath, you had to clean the mirror before use. The bath wasn’t as clean as it should be, there being hair in the drain. During the night we were disturbed by music from the night club across the street, which was a little surprising as it looked empty every time I looked out the window. We had fish and chips in the hotel in the evening which was quite mediocre, but breakfast (buffet) was better. I wouldn’t say I had any complaints, as such but the room certainly needs some TLC.

The staff were lovely and helpful. The sink was dirty and the shower didn't work at all. I didn't report this as I was attending a funeral in the morning and didn't want to deal with reporting any problems, etc., so that part is on me. The towels were clean though and the room was refreshed with soaps, etc.

We arrived and were told our room wasn't ready hadn't been cleaned as did most other guests arriving at the same time. This was not a good start and we ended up having to use an uncleaned room to get ready to go out as were time limited. The staff did their best to help, but clearly were under-staffed and struggling. Service at the bar was slow and that was the general feel, with lots of new people not knowing what to do and little supervision coordinating things. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles, with little food available for the guests and what was there was coming out in drips, so we gave up on breakfast. The room when we got back from our event had been partly cleaned, but not effectively hoovered. The shower was pretty grim, the head is black with limescale and mould and the door didn't close properly. We were woken by pigeons/doves outside the window where some bird netting would be useful to prevent this. All in all we were pretty uninspired and likely won't return again.

Horrible stay. Had to move rooms, water coming through the wall from a broken drain pipe with vegetation growing out of it. Hole in bathroom floor and broke tiles in very dated bathroom. Moved rooms and the bathroom was even worse. Black grout, dirty bath, water damage on bath panel and broke shelf. Unfortunately there were no other rooms available in any other town centre hotels or we would have moved. Breakfast was poor, not even proper orange juice and undrinkable coffee. This is not a four star hotel.

The hotel is nicely located in the middle of the town and it looks very cozy. The receptionist was also very friendly. Our room was also quite cozy to look at but it was crazy hot under the roof and we were not able to open the window. Even with fans I think it was around 35 degrees all night which was horrible.

The hotel is at a very convenient location - it's just a few minute walk from the downtown area and the Sunday market. But it also means it's very noisy at night when people go out for drinks. The size of the room is decent but WiFi was not working (probably because it's too far from the lobby). The room is also quite old and breakfast was not included.

A unique place to stay with authentic old world charm. Helpful staff and an excellent full breakfast selection. A central walkable location to city highlights and transportation to Stonehenge. Wifi in the room was unavailable but overall, a great option.

Noise from motorbikes in particular from the street below our room (84) was frequent, throughout both nights, and it sounded like the road was being used as a drag strip for hooligans. Unfortunately, it was unusually hot (30°C) during our stay and therefore in the non-air conditioned room, it was unbearably hot. The fan provided was totally ineffective, although a helpful staff member thankfully did provide a newer more effective fan for our 2nd night. The lift to upper floors was out of service which made it difficult for my wife and I having to climb 2 flights of stairs each time we needed access to the room. To be fair, I was not charged for 2 night's parking in response to my rather critical comments about our disappointing stay in Salisbury.

One does not go to this hotel looking for modern facilities. So, coming here means tolerating some quirks, such as uneven floors, weird faucets in the bathroom, and an occasional light bulb flickering. Still, the hotel has plenty of charm and we had a very comfortable stay. The staff was also helpful, although they seemed a bit overwhelmed with the influx of guests. They were kind enough to keep our luggage while we were exploring Stonehenge but it took us 15 minutes to retrieve our bags. The location is great, with many restaurants nearby. The one thing to keep in mind is that many of the rooms face an internal courtyard with a bar and, on a Saturday night, it was hard to sleep early given the noise. So, I would recommend this hotel to a friend but also alert the friend about what to expect.

The receptionist was most unhelpful when we enquired about parking. We were advised to park (illegally) in the loading zone at the entrance, then later told to go to the hotel carpark, which we found locked and full. Then tried public car parks which were full, and finally returned to the illegal park at the front of the hotel. Eventually, after we had dined, we found space in a public car park - just as well I don't drink! All the other staff we encountered were wonderful.

Lovely old hotel, but the service is terrible. Twice i have stayed here and won't again. Room was cold when i arrived and ask for and extra heater and they said the room should heat up in a few hours . Bathroom hadnt been cleaned. Bar team didn't want to serve anyone. Not food on offer tonight and even run out crisps. Last time i stayed here the breakfast was cold and very below the standard of paying 16. I though i would give them a second chance. But no improvement this time. Such a shame as the place could be amazing.

The hotel did not notify me(no emails no messages on Expedia) that there was a wedding hosted in the hotel, the staff kept saying nothing they will do at the moment. Loud music continued until 12am. Not very clean but worth the price…. Staff at the concierge was friendly. The garden was nice.

Excellent accommodation, very conveniently located. Easy bus to Stonehenge and within walking distance of so many attractions. It’s an old building with many expected quirks. The courtyard is beautiful and relaxing to take a beer.

Nice hotel in centre of Salisbury.Public Car Park available next door,free parking 18.00- 08.00.Quirky old hotel with corridor’s everywhere.Hotel room had opening windows but was quite stuffy,with excessive tog duvets for time of year.Breakfast was fine,with choice of continental or cooked.Plenty restaurants within easy walking distance for evening meal.

Lovely pub/hotel and the staff are excellent. The site has limited parking so book ahead if you wish to reserve a space. In a great location within the centre of Salisbury, close to the Cathedral, shops and restaurants. Can be a little noisy at night, but worth it for the convenience.

An old coaching inn well sited in Salisbury very close to the city centre and close to Cathedral and other historical sites. The hotel is very comfortable with well equipped rooms.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Salisbury, 5 minutes from local bus stops and 10-15 minutes walk from Salisbury Railway Station. Getting around Salisbury is easy as it is very much designed to walk with lots of safe crossing points. when we first arrived our room had no heating. Faith the receptionist was wonderful as she first checked to see if there were any heaters we could have. they were all in use so she upgraded us to a room she knew form experience was warm and cosy. Heating was an issue in the hotel and certainly needs looking at. the lounge and restaurant could be warmer, and their was a definite drop in temperature as you walked around the hotel passageways too and from your room. We ate in the evening and unfortunately they ran out of the food we ordered. As we had to change our mind the waitress did come back and advise us that she had credited us a main course, this again was excellent customer service. They are definitely short of staff in the hotel and this needs addressing as it will cause other guests to give them a lower rating. Staff did their very best in difficult circumstances however and were always friendly helpful and polite. I would stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to others. I do hope though that when we return the staffing and heating issues will have been solved.

All the staff we met did their best to be helpful. The £20 car park was not fit for purpose: I had to be guided to park between pillars that were so close that then I could not open all the car doors. The room was supposed to be wheelchair accessible, but there was a step and a very stiff door into it, and there was no hand rail by the WC. The choice at breakfast was very limited; the orange juice was very watery; there was an extra charge of £3.50 for hot chocolate on top of the £16.50 charge for breakfast, which had no reduction for those that did not want a cooked breakfast. Our cooked breakfast took so long to arrive that we were refunded the charge for breakfast! The computer at Reception was very slow.

The entry courtyard is adorable as well as the intricate carvings and woodwork in the front lounge area. The hotel is clearly very old and has been added to through the years...making the layout quite maze-like. It was an interesting place to stay in Salisbury, and I think you have to check it out at least once. But, now that I have, I would probably look somewhere else if I'm through Salisbury again. Breakfast was quite expensive for just ok food.

We were hoping for a quiet and relaxing stay, but both nights we were disturbed by a lot of noise (the manager tried to tell us it was drunken guests but that was not the case. to suggest this is insulting to the handful of guests that were staying. All were elderly and certainly not the type to roll in drunk at 2.45 am. It was staff and everyone who complained know full well this is the case. We were refused dinner on Saturday evening because the kitchen was closed for a function. We had not been warned about this, and had to venture out in the bitter cold, when all we wanted to do was eat at the hotel and hang around there for the evening. On Sunday morning, having waited 45 minutes for our breakfast, which we had prepaid for, we were told that the had run out of food, so we wouldn't be getting any breakfast. We complained, and have just received a full refund, however we are not at all happy with the way the manager swept most of our complaints under the carpet. Reading between the lines, she didnt want to antagonise the staff, all of whom seemed pretty unhappy in any case. I understand that the hospitality industry is having a staffing crisis, but this hotel will have a customer crisis soon, if they don't learn how to treat their paying guests properly.

I stayed for one night. The weather was warm but not hot, however the room temp was ridiculous. There is no air con in the room (not a surprise given the age of the property) and only a fan to cool the room down. I had to have the window open all night which lead to lots of noise and made it terrible to sleep. On top of that the key card didn't work on my room, not once, twice. The staff said "oh yeah we know there's issues with that door" as he worked away at the lock with a screwdriver. Clearly the management don't actually care, otherwise they would get the lock fixed given the staff know about the lock issue for ages. Then at breakfast they ran out of coffee and I had to wait 20mins to get a cup full of bits, horrible. There were the normal silver platters out for breakfast but they were empty. No-one told me the servers took your order. So I waited for 25mins (minus any coffee) waiting for someone to take my order. It then took another 10mins to get my breakfast which was incredibly salty. Overall, a terrible experience.

Lovely old hotel, but the service is terrible. Twice i have stayed here and won't again. Room was cold when i arrived and ask for and extra heater and they said the room should heat up in a few hours . Bathroom hadnt been cleaned. Bar team didn't want to serve anyone. Not food on offer tonight and even run out crisps. Last time i stayed here the breakfast was cold and very below the standard of paying 16. I though i would give them a second chance. But no improvement this time. Such a shame as the place could be amazing.

The location was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast wasn't a good experience. The first morning the coffee machine broke down and staff were clueless to fix it and took ages to set up a hot water urn in its place. Also the staff were not proactive in keeping the hot buffet topped up, had to wait ages for both bacon and beans trays to be topped up. The second morning was no better. Had to point out to a member of staff that there was no bacon, she said 5 mins.15 mins later the bacon arrived but then the fried eggs tray was empty. I gave up and left with just a piece of toast

The hotel is conveniently situated in central Salisbury. The rooms are clean and comfortable but not easily accessible for the infirm . I did not eat there as there was a wedding and the kitchen was closed.
