Continental Hotel

The pool was closed, bathtub was filthy, carpets need changing and there was no air conditioning, made sleeping impossible.

When we got to our room. The rug was all wet we were not able to walk barefoot. When we went outside in the back there was a picnic table that had garbage and empty bottles sitting there. Also the ice machine on every floor was broken. We had to go to the front desk to get ice. We also tried to call the front desk from our room and no one answered the phone.

Convenient location and great staff!!!! 15 minute drive from downtown Calgary. Good parking. Pool was a bit too warm but glad the option was available. The ice machine on all floors didn’t work.

I chose this hotel because the cost seemed reasonable and therefore i wasn’t expecting much. Parking was easy and the check in process was easy too. To my surprise the room was quite big and had everything like a coffee maker, enough space to walk around and place stuff. The washroom had enough clean towels, all the toiletries and hair dryer. There was an iron stand and iron as well. The only thing I didn’t like was few tiny blood spots on the bed sheet. Bed sheets were clean but there were two tiny blood spots on the top sheet that i saw but the stay was comfortable. There was a free laundry room and a gym too although half of the equipments didn’t work in gym and the swimming pool seemed nice from outside but it was out of order!

The design of the elevator is terrible. If you have a wheelchair dont stay here as you have either 7 stairs up or down to access it!!

This is a lovely hotel, large with many facilities including a pool and guest laundry. There are ice machines on each floor although the one on my floor was currently under maintenance however front desk made sure I had ice whenever I needed it. My room was both immaculate and super comfy. I am traveling by myself with my senior small dog so they gave me a king size bed in a nice single room on the third floor. Housekeeping keeps the rooms and the hallways pristine and the front desk was very accommodating when I needed extra towels. I was here for 6 nights and I plan to return for 2 weeks at Christmas. In fact this has been such a pleasant stay and the facility is in such a convenient area on the McLoud trail that I plan to stay here often as I come to Calgary at least four times a year to visit my children and grandchildren, and in the summers for longer stays. Having tried several facilities this one checks all the boxes and I look forward to staying here again. I also want to mention that it was very quiet I did see and greet others that were also staying on my floor but I never heard any noise and was very comfortable. And of special note are the front desk and housekeeping staff. Both were exceptional. The front desk was efficient and friendly, knowledgeable and aware of everything going on within the facility. Housekeeping was also extremely efficient and very accommodating. Both teams knew what they were doing and were on top of things at all times. I only regret

Very cost friendly. BUT. We had to ask for towels as there were none in room. But we had to ask the front a couple of times before we received them. Checked in at 2 received them at 4:30. ( we were going out so needed to shower) no towels in pool area, no change areas or toilets. No elevator from main level. Not baby stroller or wheel chair accessible. Will say it was busy hosting a wedding and church as well as a swim school in the pool. Staff were very nice as I said they were very busy.

The C Train is right there which is convenient to get to events. The property is old and the rooms need updating. Priced right. The Pool is shared with a swim company. No restaurant or lounge currently as they are being renovated

Hotel did not inform us when booking that the pool was under maintenance and they were not gonna tell us upon our arrival. It wasn’t until I asked where the pool was located that they addressed the issue. Then to find out there is no elevator access on the main level so you have to carry all your items up or down a set of stairs in order to haul your stuff to your room and no trolly carts were available. Room was not clean and there were dead bugs throughout our room. Our room was beat up from previous guests and certain lightbulbs were burnt out. Our friends who also stayed with us had no towels in their room for their arrival. There were people staying at this hotel who were obviously underprivileged, our first night we dealt with a couple unloading all their items outside of the side entrance and the next morning there was a man sitting at the same side entrance and clearly strung out on something and was still there when we returned 9 hours later. I did not feel safe at this hotel, and when addressing my concerns with the front desk staff they brushed me off as if they were not even listening to me in the first place. I am not one to write reviews so the fact I took my time on this speaks volumes of our terrible experience here.

The staff was very friendly. But our room wasn't ready by check in, the pool was closed and the restaurant was not open.

Old dirty carpet, aircon not properly working, seat or chair in the corner is so dirty and has visible stain! We were 3 adults and an infant but there were only 2 towels. Day 2, unable to use the key to get in the room.

Great location, price was reasonable. The room was very dirty even after waiting 20 mins because cleaning staff was still in the room when arriving. Seemed very disorganized.

Arrived at 9 pm and the staff checked me into a filthy dirty room, beds not even maid. Took over an hour to find a vacant “clean” room. There were sketchy people walking to hallways. The police attended twice in the night, one of which was a response of five cars. Also, the room had bed bugs. I killed more than a few around the bathroom mirror and side bed tables. It was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else.

Terrible! There was a cockroach crawling in the sofa. Carpet needs cleaning, shampooing or changing. But Receptionist was helpful.

Portable air conditioner was full of water. The maintenance staff didnt even know they had to drain them and argued that it must be defective. The ground in the room was soaked because of this. The carpet was also sticky in certain areas.

This is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Room was dirty, used towels stuffed in the closet. My friends room didn’t even have towels. Very dirty overall and bathroom was disgusting. Was sure I was going to get bed bugs or something but thankfully I didn’t. With all this being said…you get what you pay for. I went during stampede and this hotel was $300 a night less than other options. I didn’t expect much but it fell short of those low expectations. Sketchy area, super sketchy hotel.

Initially the room we were put into was very unclean. There was urine on the toilet seat from the previous guest, the carpets were so dirty we did not want to take our shoes off. We booked for a queen bed and the room had a double bed. The repairs in the room were really sloppy and unprofessional and there was dust on the surfaces. There was no bathtub, only a walk in shower. The staff was very accommodating when we requested a different room. The new room we were given was unbearably hot but it was clean. The stopper for the bathtub did not fit and the air conditioning unit was not fitted to the window so we had to try and make it work as best as we could. The vents in the room were very dusty and had by this point left dust on the ceiling. We reserved two nights and on the afternoon of the second day we were informed that the reservation had been cancelled even though we did not cancel it. We were able to stay the second night but there seemed to be a lot of confusion. There was no notice until we arrived that the pool was closed and the restaurant did not appear to be operational.

The room was not clean. There was a wine and foods left in the fridge from the previous guests.

This hotel was ok. The air conditioner in my room didn’t work but they did bring me a portable one.

My room had awondow left ajar to vent an air conditing hose.

Good location, close to downtown, and fair price. Rooms at the east side of the hotel are not quite because of the railway.

The price of this property was great and the rooms were pretty good. We only had a couple issues - they don’t actually have AC built in, they just use portable AC units which isn’t bad but a little more inconvenient for the guests. This hotel is also located right beside a doggy daycare so in the morning the dogs bark like crazy, especially if you’re staying on the north side of the building. (This is the reason for the 4/5 stars) ⭐️ Staff was great! Had our room upgraded and everything! Super affordable so will definitely stay again!

Very close to services, shopping, city centre. It's a difficult place though for the disabled or persons with limited mobility. Stairs and a inconvenient elevator. But that aside it's a reasonably priced hotel. It's older but clean and comfortable. For the price an ok stay. I'd avoid the rooms closer to the front of building a lot of road noise. *** DO NOT let them put you in room 401. It smells like moldy old astray, and the traffic noise is really bad. It's a nasty dark hole. Just say no.

Good - Location good was quite good and short uber to downtown - not walkable Not so good - - Industrial location .. not much within walking distance. - Looks like it was a Holiday Inn in the past but clearly zero money has gone into property since purchase - Not overall happy staff - No television just access to free online apps like youtube, tubi, pluto, etc - run down appearance - no built in air conditioner, just a very loud portable a/c that was poorly vented through window -maintenance left their tools in my room before i arrived … had to return them to front desk overall forgettable place to stay but ok if getting cheap

the desk staff was pleasant. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. there was a microwave in the room, but found it odd that there was no mini fridge or coffee maker. just a microwave. The corner bead on the wall corners was held in place with strips of green masking tape. there was no bathroom fan. No air conditioning or heat control of any kind. The room was very warm. The room was very noisy and I woke up several times in the night to the sound of the bed squeaking above us. The pictures don’t look anything like the rooms.

Decent hotel, very convenient location. There’s no AC in the rooms so got pretty hot as the weather was around 30° whole trip. No breakfast at the hotel but Tims and McDonalds are just up the road. Good customer service, no complaints for the great price!

Terrible stay for the weekend. I am looking for a full refund. As soon as we arrived in the room, there was no iron only iron board. When attempting to call the front desk the phone did not work to where I had to go down to the front desk and ask for it to be fixed and also an iron. When the person came to attempt to fix the phone he brought replacement phones but however none of them worked to where he told us to just use our own phones to call front desk. Issue #2 was when we woke up in the morning to shower we had Zero towels. Again had to walk down to the front desk and request 3- 4 towels. After waiting 45minutes we had to call again requesting towels. Finally when someone did come with the towels she only gave us 2 regular towels and 1 hand towels, then stated "Were out of towels, sorry". totally unacceptable. Issue #3, after going out and coming back assuming our beds and room would have been cleaned, 1 bed was made up and the other was not because there was a shirt on it. Additionally checking on the towels situation it was clear they just folded our wet towels and hung them up. They did not replace them. Totally unacceptable for staff to treat guest like this. I expect a full refund, do not stay here.

Staff not really nice and respectful. They're not qualified to serve the people.

Check in took 30mins as they couldn’t get any card to work, I booked a 2 queen bed room and I got 2 doubles …. The bath tub was all creaked on the bottom. The next day we left for the whole day and when we got back our key card was not working to get into our room … we had to go back to the front to get it reactivated… this is after a long day … and when we go into our room, there was not cleaning done at all … when I went to the front desk to as for more TP cause we were running low they brought me towels ….. like really. I will never be staying there again

The stuff was amazing. There were a few glitches, and they were fixed immediately. They even stepped up to help me bring in my luggagen. I have not received such good customer service in many, many years thank you.

We had a concern with the staff at the front desk. We had troubles with our room keys and went to the desk to get new ones, and she asked for our room number but not for any form of identification. It seemed unsafe to not verify.

Easy check in. Front desk young ladies nice and helpful. Rooms were clean. Beds comfortable. Indoor pool, heated. Luggage trolley a nice plus.

It was amazing stay with very professional and welcoming staff. Clean room and especially Bathroom. . Comfortable bed and no noise . Overall 💯 satisfaction with very reasonable price .

I checked in at Amenida Residences Calgary on August 27 and had a very positive experience. The room was impeccably clean, and the bed was comfortable, providing a restful stay. The staff demonstrated a high level of hospitality and attentiveness. I was particularly impressed by the general manager, who personally called me shortly after check-in to ensure that everything met my expectations. This level of service is commendable. I look forward to staying here again and would highly recommend this hotel to others.

It’s a prime location. Train station is less a block away.

The Amenida Residences is in middle of the Calgary, is easy reach to a lot Famous place, under 15 or 20 minutes drive.

This hotel is great value. It may seem far from downtown but it is immediately adjacent to a Calgary transit railway stop. It did not seem to have an active restaurant, at least when I looked, but there is an A & W just across the road and a McDonald’s about 200m away for those worried about breakfast and morning coffee:) Speaking about morning coffee, there was a well stocked Keurig coffee maker in my room with my favorite blends from Costco. The front desk staff were also very competent and helpful. This is not a luxury hotel but it is great value, clean, and has all the amenities I needed. I recommend it.

Good location, close to downtown, and fair price. Rooms at the east side of the hotel are not quite because of the railway.

It was in a good location for a concert at the saddledome. The tub didn’t drain well. However, the price was decent.

We really like that it's less than 3 minutes to get to the Calgary transit .( We used the public transportation daily during our stay..we enjoyed the fridge and microwave in our room . The super strong water shower . And many more .

We loved the staff. We were pleased with our quiet room. We appreciated being able to walk to the LRT CTrain via the parking lot. We appreciated being five minute walk from Stanley Park and the access there to the beauty of the Elbow River Pathway

Decent place for a short stay. Good location, not very far from the downtown. Has ample parking space.

Very run down hotel, lamps don’t work in the room, coffee maker didn’t work, the packages of sugar, cream had already been opened and some items used from last guest. Bathtub had been partially repainted but it was peeling off. We were supposed to receive a free drink but the bar had no staff.

Place needs better signage as they are located on multi levels with exits inconveniently located. Our room had a stand alone portable a/c unit with the exit hose on floor behind curtain, so hot air blew right back in room! Expedia fix the ad as they have Not served a breakfast herefor years. I would get a refund for this place if a could as it was not worth the price

In-house restaurant unstaff staff in general is hospitable, friendly and professional.

The value through Expedia on this hotel was good, however our vip beverage was water which was a bit of a disappointment after the hype. No turn down service, no extra towels available. We questioned whether our room had been cleaned as there was a mess on the toilet and a coffee pod in the machine. Also good to be aware, they did not have a wine opener anywhere in the building.

No AC, half the blackout curtain was missing, there was no mention that the pool was unavailable from 4-7:30 due to it being rented out, the restaurant is no longer in use and in the morning the coffee machine did not work. The website doesn’t reflect the restaurant/lounge being closed down nor the limited hours of the pool. My 3 year old was quite disappointed. Terrible experience
