The Nines

The fact there was no elevator/lift made this stay impossible if we had not had our son in law with us. At 85 and 75 getting our luggage up those staircases would have been impossible.

Great bar and restaurant area which has just been renovated. Bedrooms need upgrading to make the hotel better as they were a bit dated and worn. Still enjoyed our stay as it’s in a great area and the people are all very friendly.

Difficult to use the narrow stairs with suitcases - 3 floors. We did have help. Rooms and beds were lovely. Beautiful view overlooking the harbour & ocean. Breakfast location not ideal for party of 5. Low sofa on one side. Could not use. Had to take 2 tables. Appreciating how old the small hotel was — well over 100 years - it was as well cared for as possible. Doing renovations which will help. Overall we enjoyed our stay and didn’t let the little inconveniences spoil our stay.

Quirky. No lift and a lot of steep stairs to rooms. Bar reception area modern. Rooms could do with refurb. Good location.

Had a lovely stay here for one night, lovely room- loved the decor and the REALLY comfy bed. Decided to go for a wander at breakfast and found a lovely cafe, so didn't eat at hotel. ( Maybe next time!). So much nicer than Prem Inn. Only downside...NO LIFT. Only

Nice area, friendly staff, but oh boy, if you have luggage, they don't have an elevator. Rooms were clean but very old.

Loved the whole place. Such a nice place to stay and beautiful views. The staff are amazing and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend and definitely stay here again

There was no check in reception. We spoke to a disinterested distracted male who got me to sign a check in document and gave us a key. He told us we were in room 3 and pointed behind him. We did not receive any directions and there was no signage to indicate the way to the rooms. Eventually we found our room which was spacious and had the sea view we had paid for. The room was very disappointing as the paintwork was scruffy and dirty. The bed, wardrobe and drawers were old fashioned and very dusty. None of the edges of the drawers or bedside cabinets had been cleaned. Inside the wardrobe looked like someones cleaning closet as there was an ironing board lying horizontally along the bottom with an iron on top. There was also a blanket and a bed cover in the watdrobe. There was a collection of wooden, metal and weird crochet-covered hangers in the wardrobe. The shower towels were cheap, washed out and small. The bathroom was quite disgusting as the grouting round the bath/shower area was chipped and cracked. There was a handle on the wall at the bath which was loose with the tiling ready to fall off the wall. The light pull in the bathroom was dirty was attached to the ceiling in a rough manner. The paintwork was untidy and chipped and the tiled floor looked like it hadnt been washed in years. The Nines claimed to be a boutique hotel but it is not even a third rate B&B. We complained to the manager the next day and he just said " I'm sorry madam" He did not offer any refund.

Great old hotel with beautiful location on the water. A bit short staffed when we were there, and our room was not cleaned during our 3 day stay. But staff worked hard to compensate, and were helpful and positive. Food was really good. Our room could use a bathroom update. If you need a lift to get up stairs this is not for you.

Room was up a few flights of stairs, no lift so it was a bit difficult with a suitcase and child. Room had an amazing view of the marina and was spacious. The room was very dated and the carpet had dozens of stains all over it. The floor was not level and if you put something down on a table it would slide off!

Food amazing, comfy beds, friendly and attentive staff, new decor. Small negatives, no phone charger points, dusty light fittings.

Very nice stay. Staff were very accommodating and kind and approachable. Bedrooms and corridors a little tired.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The veiw looking over the ocean is very nice and our room was roomy and comfortable. However the shower mat was dirty on the one side and the coffee cups seemedcto have soap in them as we rinsed them out before using them.

We stayed in the apartment this time was very clean and new great location and very private

The hotel is above the restaurant. Everything was. Lean and the bed was very large and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was very good and reasonable. No pool but the price was good

The room itself was a little old-fashioned but comfortable enough. The problem was the incredibly loud floorboards - which I suppose come with the territory. We also hadn't realized there'd be loud music from the restaurant/bar downstairs until midnight. If we'd known, probably wouldn't have stayed there with our 1-year-old!

A really lovely hotel, modern but very tasteful and clean. Bed was fantastic and the views over the harbour were beautiful. I hope to stay again for longer!

Staff are excellent and friendly. Food and drink very good. Rooms are reasonably comfortable but tired and shabby in appearance. Shower wasn’t very powerful.

New rooms are very well decorated and comfortable. Breakfast has always been included in the price, but not now its extra and £120 a night i would have expected Breakfast.

We booked when this hotel was under prior ownership. Didn’t realize there was a DJ blasting music in the bar until 1:30-2:00 in the morning on weekend nights. The music was so loud in our room. Hotel seemed like an afterthought for the venue who is more interested in restaurant and bar. Not recommended.

Very noisy room with music from bar below till late. TV did not work. Hotel part of this business was secondary to the bar & restaurant. This should be made clear. The room is not adequately sound proofed. We boooked expecting a hotel.

Have stayed in the front facing rooms in the past and these are great. Stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel this time and, not so great. My room was certainly tired, and so was I the next morning with an extractor outside running all night! Downstairs though the staff and food were as great as ever.

Working in Belfast for a few days, decided to travel outside for accommodation. Found the hotel online. Read a few reviews and decided to book. 1st person I encountered was Lisa, who booked me in and gave me my key. Went up to room, very clean and airy. Ate on the restaurant had chicken wings starter and smoked cod for main. Food was excellent, staff were very polite and courteous. After dinner had a walk aroind the quay, met a few locals who were very friendly. Going back in August for a weeks work. Will definitely be booking the hotel again.

The staff went above and beyond to help us take care of a sick member of our group. We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness and adaptability. ty.

We stayed a night at the nines and the room was comfortable with tea and coffee making available, iron, etc the hotel itself was clean and had a nice look and feel. The only downside was the fact that the hotel restaurant and bar seemed to be run like a separate business to the hotel accommodation side if things. So when you ordered a drink at the bar you could not sit on the seating area because that was all reserved for bookings. Because of this hotel guests either had to sit outside or at the bar which made that area quiet congested. Also when it came to having hotel breakfast the service was extremely slow and seemed disconnected with hotel guests being treated as an afterthought, or so it seemed to me. I guess overall our stay was pleasant enough, but more attention should be given to hotel guests and more pleasant waiting staff would make for a better experience.

Great location for a visit to Belfast area

The Nines is on the waterfront across from RNLI offering incredible views of Belfast Lough. The hotel is undergoing substantial renovations under new ownership. The renovated rooms are top notch. The older rooms, which have not been updated, are tried. This is not due to the current ownership but as a result of years of under investment by the previous owners. The current owners are undertaking the renovations methodically This hotel allows easy access to the sea, various restaurants and cafes such as the Rabbit Rooms, Red Berry and the high street. Premier location for your summer visit to Bangor

Wonderful place on the ocean.

Absolutely lovely place. We stayed there and got the train into Belfast. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The rooms are mainly traditional with some modern touches. Everything you require (tea, coffee, shampoo, body lotion etc) even homemade shortbread on arrival. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you

The accommodation part of the hotel very much in need of refurbishment. Bar area vibrant but staff did not prioritise check in. Bar meal ok but frankly overpriced

Restaurant meal was superb! Credit to the chef and politeness of staff. Would stay over again especially with sea view and lovely ensuite.
