My daughter and three granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shelleven. Highly recommend this beautiful remodeled Victorian guest house just steps from the marina and beautiful Bangor waterfront. The owners are very friendly and personable. The service, from delicious breakfasts to room service is first class. Guest sitting & dining room tasteful decor and most comfortable. Bedrooms are beautiful with extremely comfortable beds. A lovely way to end our visit to Ireland.

The location is great, many food options, pubs, and things to see all within easy walking distance. There isn't a pull off for unloading and parking is not on site. Overall it is a great place to stay!

A great place to stay. there is no elevator. If you have mobility issues it could be a problem. The beds are 54”. Could be bigger There is a wonderful living room/parlour and hosts are most welcoming and informative. They did laundry for us at a reasonable cost. It was easy to walk to great pubs and restaurants. Parking on site was excellent. We highly recommend this place

I have family in Bangor and I've stayed in a few different places close by, this is easily my favourite. Firstly, it's clean, fresh and welcoming. My room has always been a wee haven for my trip. The rooms are well equipmented with the normal, but also the tea selection is good and then there are cotton wool balls in the bathroom, so much easier to remove my make-up with them instead of a tissue! The breakfast is perfect, just such a good breakfast. The owner is lovely, chatty and helpful without being over the top. It's an easy walk from the train/bus station if you are using public transport and it also has a private car park for residents. All in, this is my place to stay when I'm in Bangor or nearby. Looking forward to my next stay already

The property is well maintained with attractive bedrooms and I found Sue (the owner) to be very helpful, informative and welcoming. Breakfast was plentiful with a good selection of cereals and yogurts. Value for money was excellent. It has to be said though, that the property is old and, being converted (rather than purpose built), there are constraints on how comfortable the rooms can be. Ours was very hot during the (admittedly uncharacteristic!) heatwave with no way of cooling it down. One of the windows was low and unopenable. As it is a guest house, we could not expect the owners to be available at all times- so the property was not staffed during the evenings, nor did we feel it would be reasonable to ask for a fan or to change our room. The bathroom had a good shower with a flexible hose (one of my particular preferences). However the sink was very low and not very big so quite tricky for my husband to shave there. The television was baffling! The manual for it was left in a drawer, but it was really challenging just to get to choose a normal channel each time it was switched on. BBC I player and Channel 4 on demand could not be accessed. This was disappointing since we wanted to follow the cricket test match highlights. It seems petty to complain, but it did spoil our evenings a bit. There is ample car parking and the location is quite good, being close to the sea and not far from Bangor town centre or station which we visited on foot sometimes.

The property which was immaculate was lovely with comfortable beds. The host's were friendly and helpful, Sue is especially lovely. There were lovely little personal touches that made it very homely. There is a lovely reading room where they serve drinks including alcohol for use of yourself or if you have guests visiting you which is allowed until 10:00p.m and the breakfast is excellent with beautiful presentation. We are going to stay again and walk the Costal Path. Thanks Paul and Sue Xx

I travel a vast amount of my time for work, this accomodation is the best I have stayed in for a long long time. Sue is a great host, she was so helpful, passionate about her hotel and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Recommending some amazing places to visit. A 5 star experience, i will be back.

I stayed 2 nights at Shelleven house and the room was comfortable and cozy. The check-in was easy, room and the house was super clean and the breakfast was delicious. Great location to get into town, train station or to start the coastal walk. Great recommendations for restaurants and lovely lady made sure I didn't leave without breakfast. Many thanks.

A good location, friendly welcome and tasty breakfast. Room was a small single. Not really enough room to lay out medium sized suitcase. Plumbing noises late at night and early in the morning were quite bad and woke me up both nights. Lost a fair bit of sleep because of it. Nice wee place, but I wouldn't choose the same room again.

Amazing place to stay, close to all the bars and restaurants, shopping and cafes. Lovely friendly staff, beautiful room, the most comfortable warm bed ever. Breakfast was out of this world, fantastic choice and all freshly cooked. Will definitely stay again in the future. Highly recommend staying here.

Outstanding older home. Good to not flush toilets at night as they make quite a noise but that is the way it is in older places. Showers not the greatest especially for those with longer hair but again this is the way it is in most places. Pillows were great, bed was great, breakfast was great, room was beautiful and bathroom was beautiful. Nice detail to furnishings and sitting areas. Highly recommend for a very cozy comfortable stay.

Very nice welcoming with great info. Also great location, very close to nice restaurants. The breakfast was outstanding. Big room with a big bathroom the decoration a bit outdated and could hear every step from the people above. But it was a quiet place with families as guests.

A lovely stay, a warm welcome and smooth checkin. An extensive breakfast menu. I had a freshly prepared Ulster Fry and a very tasty omelette in the end ..... it was tricky to choose! We were weekend stayers, so being so close to the shore and it's wonderful coastal path as well as it being only a short stroll into Bangor for the best bars with wonderful live music. Perfect

Paul and Sue at Shelleven House were exceptional hosts. Their guest house was a tranquil and comfortable place to stay, especially as a solo traveller. I felt safe and secure at all times. I particularly appreciated how they both remembered my name and would address me by name at breakfast and around the house. Breakfast was consistently brilliant, homely and filling. Paul and Sue at Shelleven House were exceptional hosts. Their guest house was a tranquil and comfortable place to stay, especially as a solo traveller. I felt safe and secure at all times. I particularly appreciated how they both remembered my name and would address me by name at breakfast and around the house. Breakfast was consistently brilliant, homely and filling. A great place to stay. there is no elevator. If you have mobility issues it could be a problem. The beds are 54”. Could be bigger There is a wonderful living room/parlour and hosts are most welcoming and informative. They did laundry for us at a reasonable cost. It was easy to walk to great pubs and restaurants. Parking on site was excellent. We highly recommend this place

The property is well maintained with attractive bedrooms and I found Sue (the owner) to be very helpful, informative and welcoming. Breakfast was plentiful with a good selection of cereals and yogurts. Value for money was excellent. It has to be said though, that the property is old and, being converted (rather than purpose built), there are constraints on how comfortable the rooms can be. Ours was very hot during the (admittedly uncharacteristic!) heatwave with no way of cooling it down. One of the windows was low and unopenable. As it is a guest house, we could not expect the owners to be available at all times- so the property was not staffed during the evenings, nor did we feel it would be reasonable to ask for a fan or to change our room. The bathroom had a good shower with a flexible hose (one of my particular preferences). However the sink was very low and not very big so quite tricky for my husband to shave there. The television was baffling! The manual for it was left in a drawer, but it was really challenging just to get to choose a normal channel each time it was switched on. BBC I player and Channel 4 on demand could not be accessed. This was disappointing since we wanted to follow the cricket test match highlights. It seems petty to complain, but it did spoil our evenings a bit. There is ample car parking and the location is quite good, being close to the sea and not far from Bangor town centre or station which we visited on foot sometimes.

A lovely stay, a warm welcome and smooth checkin. An extensive breakfast menu. I had a freshly prepared Ulster Fry and a very tasty omelette in the end ..... it was tricky to choose! We were weekend stayers, so being so close to the shore and it's wonderful coastal path as well as it being only a short stroll into Bangor for the best bars with wonderful live music. Perfect

The location is great, many food options, pubs, and things to see all within easy walking distance. There isn't a pull off for unloading and parking is not on site. Overall it is a great place to stay!

Shelleven House is a lovely Victorian building and the owners Sue & Paul are lovely hosts. Breakfast was delicious and cooked fresh as ordered. Good base for travelling around the coastal route and handy for trains to Belfast and surrounding areas. We would go back there in a heartbeat.

I stayed 2 nights at Shelleven house and the room was comfortable and cozy. The check-in was easy, room and the house was super clean and the breakfast was delicious. Great location to get into town, train station or to start the coastal walk. Great recommendations for restaurants and lovely lady made sure I didn't leave without breakfast. Many thanks.

The guesthouse was charming. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I asked if they had porridge at breakfast and they immediately cooked some for me. I would definitely recommend them.

We highly recommend Shelleven. It is quiet, comfortable, well-equipped, and has a great location so that one may walk to most of Bangor's excellent eateries. Sue's breakfast is legendary - or if it's not, it should be - and she and her staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Very nice welcoming with great info. Also great location, very close to nice restaurants. The breakfast was outstanding. Big room with a big bathroom the decoration a bit outdated and could hear every step from the people above. But it was a quiet place with families as guests.

Spent two nights here and enjoyed it immensely. Most comfortable bed I have slept in in ages. Breakfast had two options - basic continental and made to order. Sue is incredibly helpful and friendly. Parking is directly out front and it’s a short walk to the train to Belfast and local restaurants. For an extra fee we got a load of laundry done too - super helpful. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Sue ❤️

I booked at last minute and they could not have been more understanding and helpful. The hotel is so conveniently located. The room was great and the hotel was clean and really welcoming. Breakfast was superb. Worth every penny.
