Stayed in room 001which we were pleasantly surprised was a very dog friendly room. Provided with a dog bed, bowl and a private, secure courtyard area for our pup to explore (and use) safely. Lovely shower room. Bedding and towels (ours) top quality and fresh. However, the mattress on our bed was bloody awful. So uncomfortable, we barely slept. However, we were only there for one night, so being deprived of sleep for one night didn't detract from our lovely visit. Would go back to the Abbey hotel. Staff were helpful and professional. But wouldn't stay in that room again (unless the mattress was changed)

Old and quirky, this 1739-built, renovated hotel has a slightly dilapidated facade and lobby. Great central location near everything and 5-10 minutes walk from train station. Quiet rooms and neighborhood . Wall to wall carpet in hallways and rooms .Good air conditioning (July2023) .Comfortable beds and new bathrooms. Single small elevator for whole building can be annoying . Unfortunately way understaffed in the service department. Especially in housekeeping.

We stayed for three nights. The main asset was convenience, the train station, town centre and main tourist sites were easily walkable. The room was clean, modern, good bathroom, nice in every way. Staff were pleasant and helpful, though sometimes inexperienced and lackadaisical in the bar/tea bar. It's in a converted row of Georgian houses, so getting to bedrooms was awkward, but there were a few accessible rooms at the lower levels. Astonishingly, for a 4 star hotel, it doesn't have a full service restaurant, but a tea bar which has a nice bit of cordoned off pavement at the front that is often sunny, but there are many restaurants/bars nearby. Very limited menu basically of snacks and sandwuches, and astonishingly again on a non-holiday weekend they ran out of several of what are probably the most popular wines - ordering a drink on Sunday evening, I was on to my fourth choice before they could provide. They could not offer standard things like port, and many of the younger (student?) servers had no idea what they were doing.

Check in was fast and easy. The lady at the front counter was friendly. Elevator is small. Room was small and the bed and pillows were hard and flat. There was room service trash left out in the halls from other rooms overnight that never got picked up. Be prepared for a lot of people loitering around the entrance of the hotel drinking and throwing up. Parking is non-existent. Closest parking lot is Manvers car park. But the location of this hotel is prime. You can walk straight to the Roman Bathhouses which are practically next door.

Staff was friendly and helpful! They do have a lift. Can’t get a better location!!! Well decorated, beds comfortable, floors a little wonky but it’s an old building. Would be my top choice to stay in Bath!

The location of the hotel was excellent, very central and convenient but the price charged for the accommodation was ridiculously expensive. The reception staff were not friendly, the rooms were small and the breakfast was run by staff who suggested you got your own cup of tea! Porridge was served with watercress on top! The bar area was then closed to residents for a private function both nights we stayed, this meant no lounge areas available. This hotel could be worthy of the amount they current charge, but presently leaves a lot to be desired- would not recommend and will not return.

Great location for the city centre. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us and she was spoilt with treats by the staff in the bar. We had a basement room that was really quiet and lovely and dark overnight. The bed was comfy and the shower was great. Huge bathroom!

The hotel's room wasn't worsed the money what we are paying. The towels were rather gray than white.The window in the bathroom was dirty and sink was leaking.In my opinion the price for the room is too high.

For the exorbitant price I expected much better. It is important to know this is an historic property with multiple buildings and you may have to walk outdoors in weather to get to your building/to the main dining etc. Also with old buildings come musty smells. Our room absolutely reeked of mildew and even the linens felt damp. It was in a basement with very little natural light. When I complained of the intense mildew smell I was offered a smaller room/smaller bed/cheaper rate, but that’s not why we booked this hotel. No discount was offered for the inconvenience and irritation of the odor. The room was comfy and generally clean overall. Strange art was of all women whose faces had been scratched out or covered in paint. Odd vibes. The breakfast was only mid-level. Frozen fruit defrosted, tesco-like bread and pastries. Just very basic for £24 and I’ve had better at small hotels. Not at all what I expected at Marriott Bonvoy. I don’t think I would stay here again. Not for the price and average service. Though it is very well located.

The hotel is in a prime location. The only good point about this hotel. Unfortunately the bar area is very small & can fill up quickly. Our room was NOT good enough. This hotel is marketed as a premier hotel & has a price point to match, as such I expected a premium stay. The bedroom had mould on the wall around the soaking wet windows (indoor). Thankfully we had heavy blackout curtains to cover it up. A fridge cabinet without the fridge. A tv with the volume programmed not to go above 13. The bed 2 singles pushed together with a mattress topper (was actually really comfortable). The en-suite floor tiles that moved when walked upon, the towel warmer ready to fall away from the wall. The interior door that’s rotting from the base.

Lovely staff except breakfast waiter who didn’t really listen resulting in not getting what I asked for. Comfy bed and quiet, dark room. Few hairs in the bath, yuk!! Nowhere to put toiletry bags in bathroom. No shower hose so impossible to rinse the bath (poor room attendants!) or wash hair.

Location is fantastic. Staff very professionnal. No stand for luggage in room, tiny wardrobe, safe is on the floor of wardrobe, had to get on hands and knees to access it. Four night stay and never made the bed. Coffee and tea cups in room never changed. Thick dust on wardrobe. All of which is fine except for a four star hotel.

Very disappointed with our stay. On arrival at our room we discovered that the bed linen was frayed and torn on the fitted sheet, duvet cover was far to big for the duvet supplied. The carpet had not been hoovered or the units wiped down. Bathroom had mould above the shower and shower tray was dirty. The room was certainly not worth the price we paid on comparison to other hotels in the area. Staff were unhelpful and just shrugged when approached about the subject and still awaiting a responce from the manager.

The hotel was very clean and staff was super friendly. The location was so perfect, very central to the Roman bathes and abbey hotel. The only negative is parking was relatively far away, the rooms sometimes required stairs and was difficult to navigate for older people with baggage, and needing the key card for lights was confusing without instructions. Overall, the stay was wonderful!! Definitely would recommend.

I rented four rooms for our family of eight. Two of the rooms were satisfactory, with nice decor and comfortable furnishings. But our room got up to 80° during the night, and although someone at the front desk said they would reset the air conditioning, it did not help. They did bring us a second fan, but it was an uncomfortable night. Even worse though, since our window was open about 3 inches (max) to allow some airflow, we were awakened to yelling/shrieking & zooming cars when a nightclub located just across the street closed at 4:30am! This is with 2 fans running along with my white noise app! I notified the front desk of our unpleasant night so that at least the air conditioning problem could be addressed before the next guests checked in. But although the young ladies listened to my complaint, there was certainly no offer of anything that might make it up to us. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection of made to order dishes, all of which was tasty and a good value.

No air conditioning!!!! Our room was 30C by the time we checked out. Staff originally didn’t have Ben acknowledge the issue and just seemed to say it’s the norm! Don’t stay here in the summer! Zero compensation provided for no air conditioning!

Nicely located hotel for the main Bath attractions. Small but clean and stylish room with good bath and tea making provisions. However, the heating system was impossible to work and needed instructions which were not provided resulting in a stiflingly hot room. I reported this and that the shower sprayed over the glass panel onto the toilet and that there was light bulb missing over the bed. The shower and light bulb were fixed very quickly but the heating was a disaster and never resolved. Also, there were at least 6 large air-conditioning units right outside the window and a large kitchen extractor resulting in a constant mid level noise. I believe that this room should be marketed at a lower rate to make up for the noise disruption and that future guests should be made aware. The room number was 208 - beware!
Nicely located hotel for the main Bath attractions. Small but clean and stylish room with good bath and tea making provisions. However, the heating system was impossible to work and needed instructions which were not provided resulting in a stiflingly hot room. I reported this and that the shower sprayed over the glass panel onto the toilet and that there was light bulb missing over the bed. The shower and light bulb were fixed very quickly but the heating was a disaster and never resolved. Also, there were at least 6 large air-conditioning units right outside the window and a large kitchen extractor resulting in a constant mid level noise. I believe that this room should be marketed at a lower rate to make up for the noise disruption and that future guests should be made aware. The room number was 208 - beware!

The hotel cancelled my room abruptly on the same day because of maintenance issues with the room, and refused to provide assistance with getting to another hotel. I was left totally confused with the entire situation. The hotel receptionist Maria was rude and arrogant and was not at all empathetic with the situation even though the hotel was the one who created the entire situation by kicking us out of our reservation on the same day. Thankfully Expedia was helpful with getting us compensation.

A terribly run hotel. Our room was over an hour late with the tiny reception area( merely a small counter in a highly trafficked hallway) crammed full of unhappy people. More than once customers were berating staff because rooms were not ready, bookings confused. One man called it Fawlty Towers. Our room was in the basement. Breakfast was a shambles. There is a room where reception should be as someone made the bad decision to try and eek out every penny.

Booked in here after a bad stay at another hotel (where we checked out early) and it was fantastic. The reception team were amazing and said we could have our room at 12pm which was 3 hours before scheduled check in. We actually got a room we didn’t like at first and they swapped it instantly no problems asked. We had a check in call a few hours after checking in and the breakfast team went out of their way to make us feel looked after. This is a dog friendly hotel and our doggos had a lovely relaxing stay. We always stay regularly with marriot so have come to expect this type of great service. Will be back very soon!

We were assigned a lower quality room than we paid for. When we addressed this with the staff, they lied about the accommodations and said we were given a room with a king bed...but there is an obvious difference between a "king" and the provided double mattress. The heater didn't work in the room, but we were told it would be "reset", obviously the space heater in the room before our arrival told us it would not be fixed. After much discussion, we were finally given a room with a working heater and away from the noisy alley. We were also given complimentary drinks for our trouble, but when we redeemed them, we were given trouble for trying to get drinks. Overall poor experience and left feeling like we dodged a bait and switch. There weren't pros on this trip and the stay was exhausting because of the blatant lies.

Very conveniently located. Easily within walking distance to Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge and Weir, the Royal Crescent and the Circus. The breakfast was also very good. Check in was easy and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was a nice, historic hotel in a central location. It was an easy walk from the train station and very close to the Roman Baths. The area right outside the hotel is bustling with activity day and night, but it was fun for people watching. The sound-proof windows help to block out the noise, so just close them all the way.

For nearly £300 a night, the room was tiny and nothing like those shown in the pictures. Eggs Benedict for breakfast was perhaps the worst I have had, anywhere - packet ham, poacher pan eggs and the most horrible hollandaise, I could not eat it. Such a disappointment, my daughter has made me better eggs Benedict.

The location of the hotel was excellent, very central and convenient but the price charged for the accommodation was ridiculously expensive. The reception staff were not friendly, the rooms were small and the breakfast was run by staff who suggested you got your own cup of tea! Porridge was served with watercress on top! The bar area was then closed to residents for a private function both nights we stayed, this meant no lounge areas available. This hotel could be worthy of the amount they current charge, but presently leaves a lot to be desired- would not recommend and will not return.

We had requested a room with a walk in shower when we made our booking at least two months prior to our visit. On arrival we were told that one was not available but we had been upgraded to a junior suite , which was very nice, except it was in the annex building 4 and down two flights of stairs. The receptionist did carry our bags down and later offer to move to a ground floor room . The trouble was it would not be available until 3pm the next day and we wanted to use our room mid day. So chose to remain where we were. Breakfast on the first morning was below standard for a number of reasons. the first was the service , we waited at the dining room desk for three minutes being ignored by the girl while she filled in something on the till. When we were eventually acknowledged and shown to a table no mention was made of the self service section which was round a corner and out of sight. Our tea and coffee order was taken but we had ask again before it was delivered. Decaf coffee was available but no decaf tea. The food when it eventually came was tepid. Day two , was a totally different experience. As soon as we arrived the person at the reception desk said a cheerful good morning , showed us to a table, the Servie was quick and friendly and the food was much warmer, still no decaf tea
