This is a NEW Hotel with BEAUTIFUL rooms, hallways and pool. The bar at the pool is very convenient and is also beautiful. It has a shopping center steps aways which is EXTREMELY CONVENIENT. Unfortunately zero ambience and the prices at the lobby bar are very costly.

A great last night in Costa Rica! Beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. I had a slice of chocolate cake waiting for me in the room as a welcome gift and the room was well stocked with all necessities and a very comfortable bed.The mall next door looks better than the ones I see in the US. The pool is currently not warm due to a heater not working but still a beautiful view. Will stay here again as I fly into Costa Rica. Everything was perfect !

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Outdoor pool on fourth floor had great views of the surrounding city, and a nice poolside bar. The mall with food choices is a quick walk with a connected hall. We ate at spaghetti factory and was again surprised by the flavors and still al dente pasta. Staff was very helpful and also got us the shuttle to airport at 3:40 in the morning. Very quick 5 minute trip to airport so it’s very convenient. Driving from Quepos or south can sometimes be riddled with traffic so staying over night in San Jose is a lifesaver. Will definitely choose here. Again

I contacted the hotel the night before arrival to make sure the "free shuttle" picked up in from of Sanza airlines. They said it did and it arrived every 30 minutes. I waited at the curb for 45 minutes when I arrived then went online to contact the hotel. I was disappointed to find a message that said "The shuttle is unavailable" so I took a cab that cost 18 dollars plus tip. I took a screen shot of the message and showed the associate who checked me in. When i arrived at the hotel I asked if they could compensate me for the cost of the cab and the associate said he would check with the manager. When I checked out they said the shuttle was running and would not compensate me for the cab. I also chose this hotel for the "heated pool" which was warm and wonderful last time I stayed here. The pool was cold and the screw came out of the ladder and broke when I climbed the ladder causing an injury to my knee. I returned the screw that fell out to the front desk. They had bottles of shampoo, lotion, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom of the room but the body wash and lotion were so empty it was impossible to use those products. It is a shame that the hotel has really gone downhill in the past year. Don't waste your money staying in this subpar hotel with very poor customer service.

There was no soap or shampoo in shower - luckily I had travel size. When I told the front desk, they just said "I will let them know". There is no free breakfast, no zero beer at bar and no place to get any good snack type foods.

We stayed at the hotel for one night as we were going to the airport next morning. It was close to the airport and had a shuttle. The drivers were friendly and very helpful. The front desk lady was very pleasant. Our room was very modern, clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Property is new. Safe and right near mall. Rooms could use more cleaning when guests check out. Bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. Contact lens on floor and shower wasn’t the cleanest. Shuttle was very easy to airport

Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was disappointing. When we checked in, the bathroom was very dirty, which was unacceptable. We had to call reception multiple times before someone came to clean it properly. In addition, the room had very poor sound insulation. We could hear people talking in the room above us throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to get any sleep.

The room was not spotless, and the bathroom had clearly not been deep cleaned. There were many hairs from whoever was in there previously. The sink and counter was also not ideal. The hairs all over the floor, especially under the sink and in the corners of the room were really off putting. The bed was also not fully properly made but everything seemed clean. The coffee bar was messy and the towels were not stacked neatly, leaving a feeling as though the room wasn’t properly prepared. Aside from that, everything was good and the check in and shuttle were convenient. My shuttle driver to and from was amazing, so friendly and kind.

The staff was great! They helped me with figuring out my car rental issue when I checked out. The property looks new and the room was nice. The location is great! It’s next to the City Mall and walkable to it. I didn’t know about the casino next door until I got there. However, the area is very quiet and safe even with the casino. I had two issues while staying there: 1. My bed frame kept making noises whenever I’d move around. I think the base of the bed isn’t secure. That was kind of annoying as the noises were loud and I’m a small person. I did inform the front desk when I checked out and they said they’d fix it. 2. The hotel is not very sound proof. The walls are very thin. I heard the person next door snoring though it was faint. The highway being next to the hotel is not ideal if you’re a light sleeper like myself. In the morning, I heard all the conversations from the room next door. I don’t even think they were speaking loudly. It was just regular conversations. So, if you’re super sensitive to noises, this might not be a good option. Other than these two minor issues, I’d recommend it.

My parents stayed here for a night due to a long overlay and this hotel is amazing. They arrived late at night and the shuttle was already waiting for them at the airport which I appreciate so much! Then they had to leave very early the next day and the shuttle was ready for them to head back to the airport. They staff was amazing and the hotel was beautiful.

The HGI San Jose is the only hotel to stay at near San Jose Airport. The staff are great and the rooms large and comfortable. Free shuttle to the airport is perfect!

Won't be returning. Loud room (hotel staff said during previous visit that a quiet studio room existed and to ask for it, I did, and now staff says all studio rooms face the loud traffic on the street). Messaged a day before arrival and requested shuttle time. No response to that specific question (they answered the other question in the same email) so I assumed we were scheduled. Get there and I'm told there's no room at that shuttle. They later let us know there was a cancellation and they could accommodate, however... not a good welcoming. Next morning-- not a drop of hair conditioner. The bottle was huge so this was obviously not checked for many days. This also happened on our last visit. For $430 a nite, we were not impressed. Lesson learned. Finding another hotel even though we had given this one a try at least 5 times.

The room was very comfortable for me, with a desk to get some work done at, and a lovely, cozy bed. I had a great sleep, the room was clean, and the staff were all friendly. It's an excellent location - the shuttle to and from the airport was prompt and easy, the City Mall offers some additional food and shopping options, and overall this was a comfortable and safe hotel.

Forget about early check in. We and others were waiting until 3:30 for rooms. They then tried to downgrade us from what we had paid for. Had booked and paid for our rooms in September for our February stay. Told us the rooms we booked were unavailable which means someone messed up and gave them to someone else. Had to fight with the employee and manager for a resolution. The did end up giving us one that we were happy with. It was just a scene that never should have happened. The next morning my kids tried to take the shuttle to the airport. 2 of 3 of the kids and their luggage got on the shuttle. They refused my son and told him there was no room and he would need to wait 30 minutes for the next one. He offered to sit on the floor. They only have a small van. I ended up driving him to the airport myself. My first and last time booking this hotel

Nice new hotel. Comfortable and clean. We were not happy with the arrangement for pick-up at the airport. No listing for HGI although other hotels were named on signage; we had multiple people trying to hustle us to take rides with them. Thankfully HGI shuttle driver eventually showed up and explained to us that he'd be back soon to pick us up (the hustlers kept saying (lying) that it would take 45 mins for him to return). HGI should have very clear signage at the airport and they should proactively communicate with arriving guests to make sure to only take a ride with the HGI shuttle

The room was clean and comfortable, and the reception staff was friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Unfortunately, our experience at the restaurant was extremely disappointing. We were starving after a long day of travel, and the food took an unusually long time to arrive. I specifically ordered chicken strips for my 3-year-old, but they brought fish sticks instead. When we pointed out the mistake, they took the plate back to correct it. When the chicken finally arrived, it was completely raw inside, unsafe and inedible. To make matters worse, no one even apologized or offered any kind of solution, essentially leaving my child without a meal. It’s a shame because the rest of the hotel was fine, but the restaurant experience really soured our stay. I hope management addresses this issue because it’s unacceptable, especially when serving food to young children.

We appreciate the staff, extensive morning buffet, and gym facilities. We have now stayed here 2 times and have made it our regular spot when in San Jose. Friendly staff, fresh environment, clean rooms, wonderful shower, and being close to a mall when travelling has been helpful!

The breakfast buffet was unreasonably priced. $22? I mean, really, I can spend $22 on a restaurant. I looked and there was nothing special about it so I said no. Most hotels include the breakfast, not this one. If they had charged $15 I might have considered it.

We only stayed for one night, just to be close to the airport. The street access is very inconvenient, if you are not familiar with the area. It's very easy to miss the entrance if you are driving. Hotel dining was just average.
