Lovely place for a quick break. A little odd in lay out but nice rooms and facilities. Although there is no bar as such there is a garden cafe which does sell limited alcohol and enough seating. Room we stayed in was large and comfortable with a very good ensuite. The pool is good and clean enough with a working jacuzzi. The steam room isnt my thing but there is one unfortunately the sauna was out of order.

We had an over night stop on way to Devon. Were able to fit time in pool, steam room and sauna. These facilities were excellent however the general decor was tired and in need of maintenance. E.g. door frames near pool were rotten at bottom.

The place was run down and shabby, rundown mouldy bathroom, the garden room smelled of sewage. Breakfast was not ready at 7.30. The jacuzzi had too much chlorine, causing a coughing fit. On arrival I was informed there was nowhere to eat or drink has the kitchen was being refurbished. When I asked why I wasn’t informed they said it was on the website but has I booked through hotels.com I wasn’t aware. When I asked for refund I was told this was not possible

It really will be lovely when the new owners spend some money on if…. The staff were lovely but to not even have a bottle of white wine on offer was not good. The café seems more geared up for the Spa/Club. We were ‘upgraded to one of the rooms in the manor itself but I’m not sure this was actually an upgrade as it was quite ‘noisy’ not in a group of people way but in a ‘needs carpets & soft furnishings’ way as you could hear people walking around & talking. At one point we were trying to work out whose phone was ringing then realised it wasn’t in our room. The Manor House is clearly geared up for just weddings at this point. It’s a shame but we now realise why the pricing was such. Needs, at the very least, a bar that sells more than cans of drinks and mini bottles of wine. Almost but not quite for us.

The room was very comfortable and clean. And the staff very helpful. We were travelling and had to get up early so missed out on the breakfast. We did not take advantage of the spa facilities so cant comment on this. If we are in the area again we would stay here again. The only down side is there is not a restaurant onsite, we were given a list of places which was very helpful, the pub we chose was only 6 mins down the road in the car and was very welcoming and the food good.

Stayed here last week following the unexpected death of my brother in law. I wanted to take my wife for some respite after we had spent days in hospital. The room was basic and very cold, broken lamps, the bed was two singles fixed together and was hard with a summer quilt on, we asked the reception if we could have something warmer and they bought up a single, cheap flimsy quilt without a cover! Bathroom has damp marks & screen thick with mould. They had a left a small oil radiator in the room but it was not on when we arrived and it barely took the edge off when on. The room was noisy. Peoples footsteps above were heard throughout the night and people talking on the landing. There was no wifi and data which was annoying as we still needed to communicate to our family. The breakfast was again basic and the room had dirty plates on tables whilst staff chatted. The spa and pool area was run down and not the cleanest. When checking out I told the man on the reception desk everything.. not once did he look up from the computer screen. The hotel has been stripped so much that it lacks any warmth or character, and the investment in staff seems to have been stripped too, they just don't care! To them we were simply people giving them £130 to stay in a room but to us this was supposed to be a night away from the trauma we had just experienced, a night to think of ourselves rather than be strong for someone else, a night where we can reset breath and cry.

The room was very nice and comfortable, tv was un watchable duel to poor reception, good to have a mini fridge in the room, cleaning staff need to address the cafe area as its glass ceiling was full of spider webs and dead flies, breakfast was not warm enough.

I thought being a manor house, it was like we were at pontins! Swimming area and chaging rooms need rebuilding. Floor plan leave a wet and slippy corridor. Room sheet wasnt changed, although I had been assure that it wo uldbe as it was soiled. Rusty, old and in a sorry state. The 'beautiful gardens' didnt exist.

The look of the manor house was great, nice with old otiginal features However the bed was small despite the reservation said king size plus it was really uncomfortable and was making a lot of creaking noises The bathroom was really nice and big The swimming pool was a good size however not very clean you could see black patches on the corners The steam room smelled of urine The breakfast was not there despite we paid extra for a cooked breakfast there was barely anything to eat and the young girl at the cafe was not interested to fix the problem but more interested on her phone There was a lack of management clearly on the saturday night the was a nice lady however was left there on her own and barely knew what to do, didnt even know how to use the till in the cafe The outside garden area of the cafe is infested with wasps and again noone seamed interested on doing anything about that Very disappointed as for the price we paid i was expecting a good service

Great value hotel with spacious rooms & bathrooms, lovely gym and spa. Common living areas are a bit sparse and lacking in furniture & warmth but there is a nice cafe in the spa with decent food (daytime only).

I booked an Annex room which stated you had WiFi but it didn’t as it was a 5 min walk from the hotel!!! No heating, and the TV had no channels! If I could have had a refund, I would have left!! Receptionist said she would try and find me another room in the hotel. Beth came and upgraded me to a room in the hotel, I said I do not mind paying extra but she insisted. My new room was huge but the radiator behind the curtain probably needed to be bled so I was grateful for the free standing heater. There was also a family of ladybirds in the room which I was uncomfortable with!!

Beware of catfish pictures, we had booked a superior suite that was meant to have beautiful sash windows and a bath. Upon arrival we were tucked away in an attic room which was dark and no bath. There is no lift and we had to walk to the furthest room with our 8 month old things, when telling the man on the front desk I wouldn’t recommend putting someone with an 8 month old in the room, he just said we’ve never had that feedback before. This same gentleman was the slowest check in ever taking 20 minutes to do 2 people. You can see they’ve tried with a new fit out but little things like seeing all the bed sheets in a dusty old wardrobe in the hall was very dissapointing and a bit grim.

Lovely place for a quick break. A little odd in lay out but nice rooms and facilities. Although there is no bar as such there is a garden cafe which does sell limited alcohol and enough seating. Room we stayed in was large and comfortable with a very good ensuite. The pool is good and clean enough with a working jacuzzi. The steam room isnt my thing but there is one unfortunately the sauna was out of order.

The room was very comfortable and clean. And the staff very helpful. We were travelling and had to get up early so missed out on the breakfast. We did not take advantage of the spa facilities so cant comment on this. If we are in the area again we would stay here again. The only down side is there is not a restaurant onsite, we were given a list of places which was very helpful, the pub we chose was only 6 mins down the road in the car and was very welcoming and the food good.

Beware of catfish pictures, we had booked a superior suite that was meant to have beautiful sash windows and a bath. Upon arrival we were tucked away in an attic room which was dark and no bath. There is no lift and we had to walk to the furthest room with our 8 month old things, when telling the man on the front desk I wouldn’t recommend putting someone with an 8 month old in the room, he just said we’ve never had that feedback before. This same gentleman was the slowest check in ever taking 20 minutes to do 2 people. You can see they’ve tried with a new fit out but little things like seeing all the bed sheets in a dusty old wardrobe in the hall was very dissapointing and a bit grim.

Stayed here last week following the unexpected death of my brother in law. I wanted to take my wife for some respite after we had spent days in hospital. The room was basic and very cold, broken lamps, the bed was two singles fixed together and was hard with a summer quilt on, we asked the reception if we could have something warmer and they bought up a single, cheap flimsy quilt without a cover! Bathroom has damp marks & screen thick with mould. They had a left a small oil radiator in the room but it was not on when we arrived and it barely took the edge off when on. The room was noisy. Peoples footsteps above were heard throughout the night and people talking on the landing. There was no wifi and data which was annoying as we still needed to communicate to our family. The breakfast was again basic and the room had dirty plates on tables whilst staff chatted. The spa and pool area was run down and not the cleanest. When checking out I told the man on the reception desk everything.. not once did he look up from the computer screen. The hotel has been stripped so much that it lacks any warmth or character, and the investment in staff seems to have been stripped too, they just don't care! Cant comment on breakfast as didnt have it. Room is very basic for a deluxe room very limited items in the room pillow on bed was dirty left for housemaid in morning to change and was just put back on the bed Customer service is shocking and not customer focused worst ive come across in years. Hotel is very money focused rathered than there customers having a safe and pleasant stay. It was extermely bad weather (snow and ice) with amber warming risks and only travel in emergency hotel refused refund and refused to change date which can be understood (a little) but the customer service man on hotel phone was so rude. For example, we walked in to the cafe asked for coffee and a toasted sandwich and got told I don’t want to make anything because I’ve got other jobs to do. We stayed here for our anniversary. We booked a garden suite where we could park outside and had a little court yard area with chairs to enjoy the summer sun. we had access to the gym and pool, steam room and sauna which was a lovely way to end our day. The staff were helpful and happy to help when we had any questions. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if we were in the area

Amazing place, temperature was minus and freezing so couldn’t get the heating high enough, but to be fair the bed was extremely comfy and had a really good sleep before going onto my next location, would definitely stay again and give time to use the facilities better! The Nog inn was a great local pub for food and drink 5 mins in a taxi

We had an over night stop on way to Devon. Were able to fit time in pool, steam room and sauna. These facilities were excellent however the general decor was tired and in need of maintenance. E.g. door frames near pool were rotten at bottom.

The look of the manor house was great, nice with old otiginal features However the bed was small despite the reservation said king size plus it was really uncomfortable and was making a lot of creaking noises The bathroom was really nice and big The swimming pool was a good size however not very clean you could see black patches on the corners The steam room smelled of urine The breakfast was not there despite we paid extra for a cooked breakfast there was barely anything to eat and the young girl at the cafe was not interested to fix the problem but more interested on her phone There was a lack of management clearly on the saturday night the was a nice lady however was left there on her own and barely knew what to do, didnt even know how to use the till in the cafe The outside garden area of the cafe is infested with wasps and again noone seamed interested on doing anything about that Very disappointed as for the price we paid i was expecting a good service

The room was very nice and comfortable, tv was un watchable duel to poor reception, good to have a mini fridge in the room, cleaning staff need to address the cafe area as its glass ceiling was full of spider webs and dead flies, breakfast was not warm enough.

It really will be lovely when the new owners spend some money on if…. The staff were lovely but to not even have a bottle of white wine on offer was not good. The café seems more geared up for the Spa/Club. We were ‘upgraded to one of the rooms in the manor itself but I’m not sure this was actually an upgrade as it was quite ‘noisy’ not in a group of people way but in a ‘needs carpets & soft furnishings’ way as you could hear people walking around & talking. At one point we were trying to work out whose phone was ringing then realised it wasn’t in our room. The Manor House is clearly geared up for just weddings at this point. It’s a shame but we now realise why the pricing was such. Needs, at the very least, a bar that sells more than cans of drinks and mini bottles of wine. Almost but not quite for us.

When arriving the blind covering the french doors had 4 slats missing, had to convince the staff to change these from another room that had no-one staying 2hours later. Why they didn't put a curtain rail up and have curtains I don't understand. Was offered comp breakfast but only after asking, staff not that interested about the issues. The decor is dated and the taps and showering needs to be completely renovated. Taps move on the basin and the waterfall shower head was spilling more water on the wall due to damage. Bed was from the 80s and the mattress was so soft and was sinking without anyone on it. Awful sewer smell outside, luckily not in our room. cannot sit outside due to the insane amount of wasps around. Breakfast is extremely expensive for what it is. It's good, but very small portions. The member of staff who was in the cafe room when we arrived was amazing (didn't catch her name) The bedding and towels were clean! I wouldn't stay here again, such a shame as the building has so much character. Needs money to refurb!

Nice hotel to stay and relax. Out of town and great gardens/open space. Pool and gym were also good. I wanted to like this place but won't go back and wouldn't recommend. The good first. The building looks lovely and the grounds are nice. I can imagine they would be a lovely venue for a do. Our room was spacious and had a good shower and likely would be great if it was cooler. Why I won't be back. I was sent a message on hotels.com, I replied but it wasn't read. We arrived late and the night potter said we'd checked in already then couldn't find out keys. It took half an hour and a couple of rooms before we had a room with enough beds, not great as we were very tired. The room itself was super hot even when the windows were open and temp had dropped outside. Breakfast was poor with some reheated food that was cold inside, poorly made and missing items, we all left a large proportion. There were tons of wasps about

Room was ok really. Had two fans which were a bit pathetic with room being so hot. Disappointed that no restaurant was available or bar for hotel guests. No choice but to go out to eat due to the Ants crawling around the cafe on site. Very doubtful we would stay again.
