This was a really lovely, quaint pub in a perfect rural setting. The beer garden area captured the sun all day. Breakfast was great. The entrance to use in the evening could be lit up better as it felt unsafe being alone. The cleanliness of the rooms also needs to be reviewed as it let it down. The bed was lovely and comfy with great pillows and fluffy duvet. I would stay again.

A really great stay, check in was smooth mid afternoon, superior room was fine with a fantastic super king bed and huge bathroom. We had supper in the bar, good food and drinks in a busy pub setting, a nice buzz and big shout out to Lewis and Sam who were so friendly and professional, a great team. Breakfast was really good, again in the bar with plenty of choices cooked to order as well as a small buffet. We will definitely return again!

This is a restaurant with rooms. It used to be the finest pub / coaching inn in the area now it is just a mass-food place where you can stay. Food first, tables in every corner of the ground floor. Our room was comfortable but had the kitchen extractor fan chimney almost outside it. The staff did turn it off when asked at bedtime. Food mediocre at a high price, like the drinks - alternatively go to The Crown Inn in Woolhope for better food and pub experience - this a shame, as I used to visit the Green Man Inn when I lived in the village, regularly. That magic has gone. Food, food and more food comes first. Like most pubs now.

Generally very nice! Staff were excellent. My only negative comments are that the two single beds were old and lumpy. The emergency lighting has a bright green light that lights the room and disappointed there wasn’t a proper shower and screen, it has a hand held bath shower which isn’t very usable! Overall good value! A nice bar and restaurant too.

Gorgeous Medieval country inn! Lovely comfortable, and well appointed room! Great friendly service, and good restaurant with excellent locally sourced menu. Great parking, and also outdoor dining . Breakfast highly recommended! Intend to return!

Lovely room , huge comfy bed! Open real fire was a bit too smoky for me! Stayed at the main road end of property and so was a bit noisy and could her guests talking in the next room . My fish choice for evening meal was a bit below par however my other half’s was fabulous!

Was very quiet and quaint, the only issue with the room was down light wasn't secured to the housing and a shade was missing. fantastic food lovely work staff.

The hotel was a lovely old building with a great atmosphere and the staff were lovely too. Very tasty cooked breakfast and bed and bathroom super clean. Comfortable bed the only downside was the heating. Bedroom was way too hot and despite trying to turn off radiators and open windows I struggled to sleep in the heat. Really don’t think a property needs heating on overnight, towel rail in the bathroom was red hot. The heating also created a tapping sound every time it fired up during the night, so despite the very comfy bed I was very shattered in the morning. Sadly this would prevent us staying here again.

Stayed several times but standards now slipping. I emailed the management on day of departure (see below for transparency) and again since for any comment - but nobody has bothered to respond. Doubt we’ll return again. /// We completely understand why you require guests to pre-order breakfast the evening before - and we did so, booking 07:30 and completing the menu form. After waiting till 08:00 with no cooked food appearing, I asked what was going on - as we needed to be on the road by 08:15 latest. We were told “nothing we can do, the Chef arrived late”. After waiting further we eventually had to give up, check out with no cooked breakfast. I suspect we were not the only guests effected. I was also surprised after this to then have no offer of any compensation when paying the bill. I hope you appreciate the constructive feedback. This is actually the second time breakfast has been messed up on our stays at Green Man. Perhaps more importantly - particularly for following guests in room 2 - I think the bathroom needs a deep clean. There is an awful smell, which hit us as soon as we arrived. I would think your cleaning staff must know ? - but it smells of bad drains, maybe a shower/sink drain issue? /// Shame - as a characterful place and dinner was fine, but clearly some issues.

No curtains in room just dusty damaged venetian blinds which failed to dim passing traffic headlights caused a fitful sleep. Large chip out of wash basin. Very small shower room but excellent shower. Evening meal consisted of really tasty, beautifully cooked beef with nice vegetables, however roast potatoes were disappointing - quite hard, not crisp on outside and not fluffy inside. Service from moment we arrived until we left was exemplary. Overall really excellent value for money. Would go again if in the area.

Beautiful period pub in a very nice setting. Clean, well cared for with a lot of period/nice touches to decor. Lovely large room with a shower and a separate bath. Very good made to order breakfast. Staff - pleasant, helpful and engaged. The only negative was no food after 8pm - which is when we arrived - and no other options in the locale. So arrive early if you want to eat there.

A comfortable night's sleep in a spacious room (but if you have a room in the eaves as we did, mind your head as reduced ceiling height). You have to walk across a yard to the rooms which are in an ancillary building, not mentioned in the description on Hotels.com. There is a kitchen /lounge shared with a couple of other rooms, so would be good for an extended family or group of friends. Our room was nicely decorated but lacked some basic furniture like a chair or suitcase stand, probably rectified now as we flagged this up to the owner. Mattress was very soft for our liking but bed was huge with luxurious white linen. Really good shower in the stylish shower room. Service at dinner was fairly good even when they were short staffed on a Saturday evening, however our food was disappointing. My husband had cod, which was completely flavourless, as was my sea bass, which was dry and overcooked and came on a bed of overcooked linguine in a supposed vodka & tomato sauce, with olives - which came out of a jar and were as flavourless as the fish. Sauce was not matured and had no depth, just tasted like heated up passata, the best bit of the meal was the crispy fish skin. Breakfast was much better with a good choice.

Very pleased with our stay here. Spacious bedroom, lovely en suite, big choice on all menus, beautifully cooked. All staff very friendly, especially Amanda, who went above and beyond to assist us.. Pensioners! Only one thing to note. Heating hadn't been put on, so rooms rather chilly..bath towels didn't dry. This should have been noted by manager. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed previously and had a lovely stay, this stay was absolutely the opposite. The room (room 2) was awful. It was cramped, no desk to work at, the bed was on a slope so couldn't sleep well, and the road noise was unbearable. The welcome by the manager was hostile at best. The staff in the restaurant were good, but the food quite poor really. I won't stay there again.

This is a lovely place to stay and we had a lovely room but the bed was extremely hard. (Not to our taste) The resturant was busy but we were told we could have a table at 7.30. We were shown our table but then sat there for over 30 minutes, ignored! We ended up speaking to the manager. It was no fault of the two servers, they were run off their feet with large groups to deal with. The fish and chips were lovely but totally unsatisfactory service as more staff were needed. Breakfasts, limited but good.

The room creaked so much it kept me awake , also the noise from the traffic on the main road was terrible I hardly slept at all ,the mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable, the room was not worth the price we were charged, and the price of a glass of wine £12.50.was extortionate We def won't be back and I would not recommend staying in this Hotel

Very pleased with our stay here. Spacious bedroom, lovely en suite, big choice on all menus, beautifully cooked. All staff very friendly, especially Amanda, who went above and beyond to assist us.. Pensioners! Only one thing to note. Heating hadn't been put on, so rooms rather chilly..bath towels didn't dry. This should have been noted by manager. Would definitely recommend.

This is a lovely place to stay and we had a lovely room but the bed was extremely hard. (Not to our taste) The resturant was busy but we were told we could have a table at 7.30. We were shown our table but then sat there for over 30 minutes, ignored! We ended up speaking to the manager. It was no fault of the two servers, they were run off their feet with large groups to deal with. The fish and chips were lovely but totally unsatisfactory service as more staff were needed. Breakfasts, limited but good.

Stayed several times but standards now slipping. I emailed the management on day of departure (see below for transparency) and again since for any comment - but nobody has bothered to respond. Doubt we’ll return again. /// We completely understand why you require guests to pre-order breakfast the evening before - and we did so, booking 07:30 and completing the menu form. After waiting till 08:00 with no cooked food appearing, I asked what was going on - as we needed to be on the road by 08:15 latest. We were told “nothing we can do, the Chef arrived late”. After waiting further we eventually had to give up, check out with no cooked breakfast. I suspect we were not the only guests effected. I was also surprised after this to then have no offer of any compensation when paying the bill. I hope you appreciate the constructive feedback. This is actually the second time breakfast has been messed up on our stays at Green Man. Perhaps more importantly - particularly for following guests in room 2 - I think the bathroom needs a deep clean. There is an awful smell, which hit us as soon as we arrived. I would think your cleaning staff must know ? - but it smells of bad drains, maybe a shower/sink drain issue? /// Shame - as a characterful place and dinner was fine, but clearly some issues.

Our first time at The Green Man and we will be returning. Had a great time, accommodation and food excellent. They also have a wonderful front of house called Amanda who was great fun and extremally helpful.

This was a really lovely, quaint pub in a perfect rural setting. The beer garden area captured the sun all day. Breakfast was great. The entrance to use in the evening could be lit up better as it felt unsafe being alone. The cleanliness of the rooms also needs to be reviewed as it let it down. The bed was lovely and comfy with great pillows and fluffy duvet. I would stay again.

Food here is excellent quality, good beer selection and very friendly professional staff. Have stayed 3 times so far and will be staying plenty more times. This is the place we have chosen to stay when on business in the area. There are also some great walks in the area and a nice well stocked local shop

Gorgeous Medieval country inn! Lovely comfortable, and well appointed room! Great friendly service, and good restaurant with excellent locally sourced menu. Great parking, and also outdoor dining . Breakfast highly recommended! Intend to return!

Lovely room , huge comfy bed! Open real fire was a bit too smoky for me! Stayed at the main road end of property and so was a bit noisy and could her guests talking in the next room . My fish choice for evening meal was a bit below par however my other half’s was fabulous!

Beautiful period pub in a very nice setting. Clean, well cared for with a lot of period/nice touches to decor. Lovely large room with a shower and a separate bath. Very good made to order breakfast. Staff - pleasant, helpful and engaged. The only negative was no food after 8pm - which is when we arrived - and no other options in the locale. So arrive early if you want to eat there.

Nice big room, could have been better with a couple of chairs, nice big comfy bed, Bathroom large with walk in shower but nowhere to put your toiletries and bags. Unfortunately food let it down, after eating there on the first night, we ate elsewhere on the second. No baked beans with the full english (although what there was was good) although on second day my wife had scrambled eggs which she left most of. No Youghurts at breakfast on the second day and only limited choice first day.

Great place to stay, room was comfortable and clean and the shower was amazing. The best part was the restaurant though, it is worth coming here just for the venison pie alone! Genuinely the best pie I’ve ever had and the staff on that evening were incredibly friendly and professional. I spend 4 nights away a week for work and I will definitely be booking in here again!

This is a restaurant with rooms. It used to be the finest pub / coaching inn in the area now it is just a mass-food place where you can stay. Food first, tables in every corner of the ground floor. Our room was comfortable but had the kitchen extractor fan chimney almost outside it. The staff did turn it off when asked at bedtime. Food mediocre at a high price, like the drinks - alternatively go to The Crown Inn in Woolhope for better food and pub experience - this a shame, as I used to visit the Green Man Inn when I lived in the village, regularly. That magic has gone. Food, food and more food comes first. Like most pubs now.

The food was excellent - there were some interesting and unusual options and our choices were beautifully cooked and presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Lots of hot water. The rooms are all different, ours was very comfortable.

All good; stayed before and will stay again. Breakfasts cooked to order are excellent, but they ran out of decaf tea this time, and only bananas at breakfast on the first day of our three day stay, and choice of breakfast cereals could be healthier (no muesli and only non-sugary option was wheatabix).

A one night stay very warm welcome and shown to our room. Excellent evening meal thoroughly enjoyed the roast and the beetroot wellington. The room was nice and a comfortable bed in room 1. We had a, tapping noise all night from the pipe work which unfortunately impacted our nights sleep reported to reception on our departure I hope it's resolved before the next guest. We'd stay again.

The room was clean and comfortable, rather warm in the exceptionally hot weather, though a fan is provided. The staff are are all hard working and friendly, especially Amanda with her cheery welcoming personality at breakfast. Food is good and the bar is well stocked. We enjoyed our stay.
