Y Branwen Restaurant & Rooms - Adult Only and Dog Friendly

Extremely disappointing. Arrived at 8pm and was immediately told that I was very lucky and that had I been five minutes later, the chap on reception would have gone and I’d have been counted as a “no show” and my booking would have been cancelled. Wow !! Apparently, an email had been sent saying check in was between 4-6pm but I hadn’t seen it and anyway I did not subscribe to this bizarre situation when I booked and paid. I had a three hour drive and there was no way I could ever have arrived by 6pm in any event. Then, no remote control on the TV. Was told the hotel is “old school” and that I needed to use the buttons on the side of the actual TV (which was tiny). Really ?!? In 2026 ?!? So when going to sleep, had to get out of bed to switch the TV off. No kettle either - a Nespresso coffee machine so for hot water for tea I had to use the coffee machine but without a coffee capsule. Again, really ?!? By 8pm, the place is dead and the lights are out in Reception, making for a remarkably unwelcoming atmosphere when you get back to the hotel. No fridge either - so the milk I brought on the first night had gone off by the second night - so I couldn’t have a cup of tea (and no one at Reception to get milk from). Toilet seat very loose. No cleaning at all even though a two night stay. No replacement of the two tea bags I’d used on the first night. Just a very grim experience I’m afraid to say. Would never return. Breakfast was fine, to be fair.

Friendly, professional staff. Lovely quiet room with king size bed. Excellent food.

The hotel is exactly what it says it is, very dog friendly . The rooms are cosy with all amenities and the breakfast was in all honesty, Very well presented and cooked perfectly.

Very nice place right under the shadows of Harlech Castle. Staff/Owners very welcoming. Very dog friendly, most residents had dogs at breakfast which was excellent. Would recommend.

Absolutely a wonderful visit. Great dinner and breakfast. Manager was first rate. I loved the doggies.
