Efficient and friendly check-in (we were early, but no issues - thanks!), very peaceful and comfortable room, and a fab breakfast - would recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in the area. There are lots of good restaurants and bars very close by (and the Merry Hill shopping centre), and we had a very good evening meal at the hotel itself (I recommend the steak fajitas, medium rare:)). It is all very reasonably priced (very good value), and we really enjoyed the leisure facilities too - again, friendly and helpful staff - the gym is clean and well-equipped, and the pool/jacuzzi/steam room and sauna are great too. And free parking - what more could you want?! We will definitely be back!

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, Vicky P was fantastic throughout the evening. I was unwell during the stay and needed to book an extra night, staff were kind and so caring asking my husband if I was ok. Will definitely stay again. Pool access was brilliant and included in the price.

Built in 1993. Not been touched since then. Soundproofing rubbish both from the windows and walls. Clearly hear everything going on. Proper throwback to the 90s. Desperate need of a refurb. Plus point gym very well equip. Spa ok. But full of members so no room to move. Sauna and steam the size of a cupboard (a very small one). Would we stay here again.. not a chance.

It was a perfectly acceptable hotel, with a good gym, and an ok pool, the staff were all great. The room did not have aircon, but that was not an issue for staying in the winter. for what we paid could not have asked for more.

We love our stays at the Copthorne Merry Hill. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and it's so convenient for the shopping centre and loads of other amenities. Restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. The spa is small but an added bonus with hot tub, pool, sauna and steam room. Staff are friendly and helpful - Adam on reception is a star - five star in fact!

Rust, black mould and hairs in bath. Asked for it to be cleaned twice. Coffee cups dirty on arrival with food in them. These were cleaned on request. Expect a lot more for the price paid. Other than that, staff lovely and good location.

Unfortunately, the hotel has gone down over the last few years. The decor is outdated, the curtains, carpet and headboard had stains on them. We paid for an upgrade to a club room, but when we got to the room, it was quickly apparent that it was not a club room as most of the extras were missing. We were given another room when we complained, but the only view we had for 2 nights was of the carpark. When we left the door hanger on asking for a refresh, all we got was towels, the tea and coffee and water (we were in the middle of a heatwave) was not refreshed, so we had nothing to drink on the 2nd day of the stay. We decided to have a meal in the restaurant on the second evening. When we went down, we were told it was the bar menu only. After ordering and paying, we sat at our table and I put my hand on the banister. When I took it off, I was covered in dust. We then noticed that most things were covered in dust. Really bad in a restaurant. The starters were great, and my main was great, however my wifes fish was totally overwhelmed with greasy batter and tasted slightly off, and her chips were overcooked, so we sent it back and we were offered a replacement, but she didn't feel like she could eat anything else from there. So that was a waste of money. The staff in the hotel are great, and friendly. I have never written a review before, but felt it important for others to see. The hotel needs major updating and deep cleaning. Sorry, we will not be going back again.

Hayley had done a great job preparing yhe room. It had a fresh smell, very clean comfortable bedding and plenty of freshly laundered towels. The room had plenty of space and the beds were very comfortable. Loved looking out over the canal and watching geese and swans swimming. The staff were exceptionally helpful. From our arrival and letting us know the room was ready earlier than expected, to helping with parking query, and sorting a spare toothbrush for me. Even at after 1am when we returned from a birthday event the staff were polite, wished us a good night and had a smile. Nice range of food choices for breakfast in the morning too that was regularly replenished.

The room was dusty, clearly not been in use for some time, with a sweet wrapper under the desk and 2 going mouldy Maltearers on the carpet (seen in pic) when I complained about it when checking out ZERO response! NOW! As a customer service trainer in the Hospitality industry, it's all about what happens next when a customer complains about anything, No response is not acceptable, your staff clearly need some training. or have just can't be bothered.

For a relatively new complex, the rooms were internally quiet noisy. You could hear tvs and people talking in the adjacent rooms and pipes banging, water running everytime someone used the bathrooms. Location handy though for bars, restaurants and shoppers

We had a fantastic experience at the Copthorne Merry Hill. Our room was very comfortable with a waterside view and I was delighted to find the en-suite had a bath. The room had Tea and coffee making facilities + biscuits and a fridge containing water and 2 little bars of chocolate; delightful. The staff were really kind, efficient and helpful. Breakfast (buffet style hot and continental) was delicious with continual restocking by staff. We sat outside to eat this morning. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was beautifully cooked and presented.

Very tired looking hotel, over priced. But staff were great. Parking is an extra charge (as if I walked there). Rooms old, beds uncomfortable. On my stay I was moved and upgraded because the power didn't work in my room. First room there was a random spoon in the sink (no big deal) but second room the sink wouldnt drain. There's no AC and the room was hot, the portable unit provided was ineffective. In summary, better value can be found elsewhere where.

I am a regular visitor to Copthorne Merry Hill due to work commitments. I stay there maybe once per month. I usually try and stay in the club rooms. They are generally good enough, however, and room situated near the elevator doors are simply not good enough. All night long the noise is a nuisanse. Twice i have been relocated. The lifts are operated throughout the night. Not good enough.

The room and restaurant were all to the usual high standards but we had a couple of issues with the heating and tv and although we tried ringing reception no one answered so I had to go downstairs to ask for help, and when I said the tv wasn’t working the man said he would send someone up but he went home and didn’t tell anyone so had to ring again and they answered and sent someone up, but it took over 1/2 an hour.

Amazing two night stay at this hotel, it was for my friends birthday and they looked after us both. Each person we spoke to and served or helped us were amazing and so friendly! Shelley on night one in the restaurant was so friendly and made us feel at ease. I asked a couple questions and nothing was too much effort! We can not wait to book our next stay with you for another spa and shopping day.

Amazing two night stay at this hotel, it was for my friends birthday and they looked after us both. Each person we spoke to and served or helped us were amazing and so friendly! Great place for an overnight stay. Convenient location. Room facing the water was quiet & comfortable, and had a great night's sleep.. Check-in was friendly but rather slow (15 mins) with 2 people ahead of me, even though I'd completed the forms prior to my arrival. Car park is paid (£6) - not free as advertised on the Hotel.com site - this was introduced in January apparently. Generous breakfast although an issue with the toasting machine, but the staff were very helpful in trying to resolve it (although it was still burning one side!). Would definitely stay again if I was working in the area.

Everything is excellent, Hotel is quite and comfortable. Rooms are clean. Only thing was the work going at reception area, but that was not loud too. Very near and walkable distance to retail park and has excellent canal walkways.

Dinner service was poor, slow and wrong meal choice delivered to me and i heard at least 2 other diners with similar problems. The Manager apologised but no offer of a deduction on the bill or a foc drink. Felt like the restaurant had gone back to early post covid days.

This is a tired hotel in need of a revamp. Old fashioned bathroom, flickering lights, hairdryer point nowhere near a mirror etc. The worst part was the breakfast, it is absolutely not worth £15. Served until 9.30 am at 9.am there was no fresh fruit, no bread, old fried eggs and very little bacon.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, Vicky P was fantastic throughout the evening. I was unwell during the stay and needed to book an extra night, staff were kind and so caring asking my husband if I was ok. Will definitely stay again. Pool access was brilliant and included in the price.

Fantastic hotel In the restaurant their was an excellent menu including burgers, pizzas, selection of stakes, curry’s I opted for a chicken balti which was presented on silver platter, very tasty. The menu was very well priced, £21 for a ribeye, £17 for curry

Breakfast was a disaster. Pais £15 and nothing was replenished. No yoghurt, no croissants, no pastries at all. No bran flakes. No muffins. No bowls, coffee machine was empty the other broken. The boiled eggs were old, slimy and rancid tasting. The waitress i pointed this out to was rude and needs to stop calling people sweetheart. Its completely inappropriate.

For ladies not great for drying hair and getting ready in relation to mirror and lack of chair/shelf (or table). Sink set too far back to make it easy to use. The restaurant menu wasn't great and sadly for a room less than 1/2 full the service was poor. Overall this was a good stay and I would recommend the hotel. The staff were very helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The pool and sauna were good. The most only downside would be the lack of air conditioning. Even with the windows open and the fans (provided by the hotel) the room was still warm. But again this would only happen on a very hot day.

food was awful. I ended up leaving over half of my microwaved chicken wrap but as nobody in the restaurant came to check on me throughout my meal they didn't seem to care. I also had very little sleep. I had to keep the window open due to the heat and having no air conditioning, however there was a lot of noise going on in the car park for most of the night. When it finally settled the noise came inside at 3am with a group of women yelling up and down the corridor. I told them to pack it in and all was quiet for a minute. However, they then opened up the bedroom door opposite carried out chatting away at the top of their voices. I'm here on business and my sleep is valuable therefore I won't be back because today I am thoroughly exhausted and after a days work I have a long drive home - not ideal.

We had an issue with getting the room cleaned. Their system didn't work well for us. Tag left on door before 10am, just after 9am, we went for a long breakfast returned the room wasn't ready. Went to sit in the foyer for 30mins as we thought they were coming. Returned spoke to the cleaner in the room next door, he assured us it would be done in 30 mins. We returned to the foyer...40mins later they were just getting to it. Apologised they'd been busy 40mins later (2pm) the room had been cleaned but nothing replenished. Had to ask for toilet roll . Disappointed nobody asked at reception if everything was ok on our 3rd return to sit in the foyer. No USB ports in the room - shock!!!

Unfortunately their was no air-conditioning in tge room. It did have a fan but still very hot as the window was a safety one. The swimming pool is small so don't be too excited. The meal prices are not competitive. Best to go out just over the bridge at back of garden. Local pubs and restaurants are not charging for children's meal. Staff are very kowledgeable of local area. Very friendly staff. Just a shame the hotel needs updating.
