Booking in at reception was nearly 15 minutes waiting in a queue , therefore not a great start after driving nearly 2 hours. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable. However, most parts of the hotel was very tired , with stained carpets and chipped paint work, obviously once a more grand hotel. Our meal was very dissappointing which thankfully we were charged. The bar and waiting staff were very nice however and we did enjoy our drink near the fire on such a cold night.

Great location and nice town. Able to park right in front. Breakfast and dinner were solid and convenient. Perfect place to stay when playing golf in this area.

The food and the service is 5 star! But unfortunately, there was no lift to the rooms and I had a 35 kg bag I had to carry up the stairs. Good job I can carry it! Internet kept dropping out every 5 minutes and also yielded a poor wifi signal all over the hotel. Poor 3G signal too. No parking, and no unloading area. You have to park on double yellow lines. Rooms are clean but you can hear your neighbours moving around upstairs at 05:00 when they wake. I also had a room with the alley view, so I could hear the bins being dragged along the cobbles at 05:30 every morning. For a business trip, it's not ideal.

Charming old hotel. The property and rooms were clean and fairly well maintained. I don't think there's an elevator. I couldn't find a thermostat in the room and the room started off pretty chilly (I was there in late February). I'm not sure if they have A/C as well, though I'm not sure it gets that hot. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. It's definitely not a business hotel. The desk was small and there were few power outlets. I would highly recommend the hotel install USB plugs near the desk and bed night stands. It's 2025 after all. I had a room on the second floor in the front of the Hotel. Event hough Sandwich is kind of quiet, there was road noise early and late. so if you're a light sleeper, request a room in the back of the hotel. The breakfast looked good. The staff was friendly. Check in was great. Managed to park right outside the door. Room was ok. Only real complain was the en-suite. Dated and the shower valve very worn and difficult to set a good temperature. Over all would stay again.

Exceeded expectations. Will stay again. We travelled with 3 small children and stayed in a family room. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Perfect for our family. Parking was only £1.50 and breakfast was included. Breakfast quality was excellent. Not a greasy spoon, no. This was a lovely, quality breakfast offering with something for everyone. Will absolutely stay again. Great value for money.

The Bell is a sensible choice at the heart of Sandwich, good location, lots of parking, always buzzy with the bar and the food is reliable. Rooms are a little tired but bed is comfy and the shower is hot. Stayed in the summer and without air con the rooms get stuffy - I have stayed a few times - and you have to leave the windows open which means the seagulls wake you early. I will definitely stay again.

Elements of the Hotel were looking a little tired, the stairways looked worn and in need of attention. No lifts so 3 flights of stairs, some of the stairways being quite narrow. Staff were friendly, unfortunately the chef did not turn up for breakfast.

Lifts were invented 150 years ago!! Hotel would be better with a lift. Would also be better without getting an upset stomach 2 days in a row, from the breakfast.

Staff was very friendly and eaay to talk to, bed was comfortable. Room was a good size with all the necessary amenities. Bathroom was big, shower was great. Gorgeous building. The highlight was the afternoon tea, whoever made those scones and desserts deserve a raise! Downsides, the staff weren't wearing indicators of being staff (like a name tag), so it was sometimes hard to know where to turn. We had a lightbulb not working (though this was promptly fixed once we let reception know), and our room hadn't been dusted properly, there were thick layers of dust on our bed lamps (small thing though!) Overall, a very satisfying stay with only minor, almost inconsequential issues.

My wife and I stayed at the Bell Hotel for a short break, and I'd find it impossible to fault. The hotel is spotlessly clean, well run and in a perfect location from which to explore the town and the surrounding area. The service we received was simply outstanding and the food excellent. Thank you!

The room was tired and dated , the facilities were out of date. The shower was full of mould and dribbled out a stream of lukewarm water. The hot tap rotated on the sink and was difficult to use. The bed was not of the quality I would expect in a room priced at £195 Better room planning by the hotel would be advisable as lovely as it was I wasn’t part of the celebration happening downstairs but that didn’t matter as I could hear it as if they were playing in my room. Maybe the guests for that celebration would have liked to be closer to it. The TV refused to work during my stay and there was no one to answer my call to the front desk I would have taken the time to discuss this with the staff on departure however again there was no one present. I try and support individual enterprises wherever possible however this time I wished I had booked into a purple palace, at least you know what to expect. I travel extensively for business all over the world and have stayed in many hotels over the years , this one I will not be staying in again!

Love staying at The Bell. Staff are very friendly. Food is really good, wonderful breakfast with awesome choices included. Room was very well appointed with superb view of the river.

Arrived around 10:30pm, guy who was meant to check me in left via the back door. I was checked in by bar staff, handed a key and had to find my way through a series of doors and stairs. Old creaky hotel with no soundproofing to room next door with noisy tv and snoring person, not worth £187

The highlight was the afternoon tea, whoever made those scones and desserts deserve a raise! Downsides, the staff weren't wearing indicators of being staff (like a name tag), so it was sometimes hard to know where to turn. We had a lightbulb not working (though this was promptly fixed once we let reception know), and our room hadn't been dusted properly, there were thick layers of dust on our bed lamps (small thing though!) Overall, a very satisfying stay with only minor, almost inconsequential issues.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Hot water ran out after a few minutes in the shower, then a few minutes later all the water turned off in the shower. I complained to the management but they were really rude and ignored me totally. Since I had prepaid for the room I had no recourse. I highly recommend you not include this hotel in your offering.

Service was exceptional, from check in to the gentleman running the breakfasts. Room was tired, but comfortable. Nice bed and lovely touches such as fresh milk, nespresso machine and great quality biscuits. Bathroom was freezing and tired, but fine and a nice warm shower. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, but based on the breakfast I wish I did. Fantastic eggs Benedict cooked to order and a wonderful selection of great quality food to pick from the buffet section. Server for breakfast was friendly, professional and incredibly efficient. Overall this hotel was great value for money.

Apart from the bedroom and en-suite being dated it’s a really nice hotel. The guys had an emergency over night and the gas had to be cut off to the kitchen, so no hot breakfast. Not their fault at all and they put on an amazing spread for a continental breakfast like I’d never seen before. So well done to them. The gas engineer arrived as I was leaving. Staff were fantastic.

Really had a great check in was meet by Simone who went out of her way to help us she had our drinks brought to us in the lounge and arranged for out luggage to be taken up to our room. We had a valentine meal and everyone of the staff was great

Arrived around 10:30pm, guy who was meant to check me in left via the back door. I was checked in by bar staff, handed a key and had to find my way through a series of doors and stairs. Old creaky hotel with no soundproofing to room next door with noisy tv and snoring person, not worth £187

The food and the service is 5 star! But unfortunately, there was no lift to the rooms and I had a 35 kg bag I had to carry up the stairs. Good job I can carry it! Internet kept dropping out every 5 minutes and also yielded a poor wifi signal all over the hotel. Poor 3G signal too. No parking, and no unloading area. You have to park on double yellow lines. Rooms are clean but you can hear your neighbours moving around upstairs at 05:00 when they wake. I also had a room with the alley view, so I could hear the bins being dragged along the cobbles at 05:30 every morning. For a business trip, it's not ideal.

Check in was great. Managed to park right outside the door. Room was ok. Only real complain was the en-suite. Dated and the shower valve very worn and difficult to set a good temperature. Over all would stay again.

The Bell is a sensible choice at the heart of Sandwich, good location, lots of parking, always buzzy with the bar and the food is reliable. Rooms are a little tired but bed is comfy and the shower is hot. Stayed in the summer and without air con the rooms get stuffy - I have stayed a few times - and you have to leave the windows open which means the seagulls wake you early. I will definitely stay again.

Booking in at reception was nearly 15 minutes waiting in a queue , therefore not a great start after driving nearly 2 hours. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable. However, most parts of the hotel was very tired , with stained carpets and chipped paint work, obviously once a more grand hotel. Our meal was very dissappointing which thankfully we were charged. The bar and waiting staff were very nice however and we did enjoy our drink near the fire on such a cold night.

Exceeded expectations. Will stay again. We travelled with 3 small children and stayed in a family room. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Perfect for our family. Parking was only £1.50 and breakfast was included. Breakfast quality was excellent. Not a greasy spoon, no. This was a lovely, quality breakfast offering with something for everyone. Will absolutely stay again. Great value for money.

Elements of the Hotel were looking a little tired, the stairways looked worn and in need of attention. No lifts so 3 flights of stairs, some of the stairways being quite narrow. Staff were friendly, unfortunately the chef did not turn up for breakfast.

Wonderful hotel in lovely town. Check in and out was easy. Room was at the top up many stairs. Huge bed, Dyson air chiller, Great selection of teas, hot chocolate and a coffee machine with 3 different coffee pods. Cookies also provided. Bathroom was generous, shower very hot. We had dinner out, but we spent the evening in the bar watching England vs Argentina. Great beer and atmosphere (until England lost). Breakfast was delicious, although service was slow (limited self-service). Fabulous selection of hot food. My one critism was I was only given a small pot of tea, and there was no one about to provide a refill when I needed it.
