The owners met us and personally went over details to know about the house. There was a security gate and fence. A Beautiful infinity pool overlooking jungle and ocean. The owners have a great eye for detail - lovely home and landscaped grounds. Fans and air conditioning in bedrooms. Howlers, toucans, scarlet rumped tanager, hummingbirds and cane toad seen around the property. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Better have a 4 wheel drive. Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your beautiful sanctuary !!

This is an exceptional house in a remote and private area. The hosts were welcoming and responsive. The best feature of the home is the pool. It’s perfect for lounging and laps. We will definitely come again. Make sure to rent a 4x4 - the mile trip from the main road to the home climbs about 500 feet and can get pretty rough in the rain.

Erstklassige Einrichtung und toller Ausblick. Mit 4x4 Wagen doch manchmal nach dem Regen schwierig zu erreichen, weil doch sehr steil. Wir haben uns aber daran gewöhnt und Übung darin bekommen. Sehr einsam gelegen mit hohem Sicherheitszaun umgeben. Der Pool ist einmalig und wird top sauber gehalten. 20 Minuten zu einem großen Supermarkt. The Villa was as advertised with spectacular views of the jungle and ocean off in the distance. The rooms had A/C and kitchen was very well stocked. Very close to a major supermarket and many towns with excellent restaurants so you have the option of eating at home or going out. Everything was clean and in working order and the infinity pool was great. The property itself is very secure (large fence encloses the living area) and private (neighbors are hundreds of meters away).Going to sleep and waking to the sounds of the jungle was an otherworldly experience. Doug and Janet are very responsive, helpful and laid back. The concierge service offered via Juli was very helpful as well and she helped us plan our activities and stay. It's very well located and there is a ton to do in the area. You do need a 4x4 capable rental in Costa Rica and would suggest tire insurance.Overall, fantastic, smooth experience and would highly recommend to anyone

Beautiful and well designed house. It had everything you could possibly need. And everything worked - hot water, AC, stove etc. Comfortable king bed. The pool was fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the comfortable day bed and all the pillows located under cover next to the pool. Great place to hang out and watch the birds and enjoy the views when we wanted to be out of the sun. The owner was easy to reach and promptly answered all our questions. This was my 6th trip to CR in 33 years and this place was by far the nicest Ive ever stayed.

My wife was stunned by the beauty of looking through the house to the view as we walked through the front door. The house was very well appointed and maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed the property, the privacy, the view and the wildlife. Regular sightings of scarlet macaws and toucans. Howler monkeys in the trees on the edge of the property on a couple of days. We could hear the ocean and the streams that flowed through the property. The pool was wonderful and the bed was very comfortable. A key part of our amazing visit.

Upon waking up this morning following our return from Costa Rica, our first thought was, “We wish we were back at Gorda Vista!” Anyone who doesn’t thoroughly enjoy this VRBO doesn’t understand the meaning of “paradise”. Everything — the property, the surroundings, the house, the swimming pool, the outdoor shower, the kitchen, the hosts, the seclusion, the creatures of the jungle — it’s all perfect. There’s nothing negative we can say; we’d return in a heartbeat. One thing for certain — when you read that a four-wheel SUV is necessary, they’re completely serious. You’d never make it up the mountain in a typical sedan. But it’s just part of the adventure and the charm. Enjoy — we’re sure you’ll love it as we did.

Paradise! The grounds and Villa are beautiful with a stunning view. Layout and features of the Villa are well thought out. We loved the covered patio area, ability to open full wall windows in kitchen/living, patios off rooms were lovely and pool lights in evening made for gorgeous evening swims. Our kids (ages 7 and 8) appreciated the varying depths of the pool with a shallow part near sunken loungers, a large step down they could play on and then a shallow end (nose above water on tip toes) and a deep end (~6 feet) for diving. Lots of pool floats for use. Town of Dominical had some amazing restaurants and coffee shops. Small grocery store nearby was a pricier than we had at other locations so we wished we had purchased more groceries and liquor before arriving. Owners were AMAZING and super helpful with check in, answering questions and addressing any concerns we had. Power went out a couple nights (which supposedly is uncommon) but they ensured we had charged flashlights and brought extra batteries when one ran out. Concierge was helpful in booking some excursions for us and even coordinated babysitting so adults could go paragliding one day (highly recommend Zion paragliding…top highlight of our trip)! Poza Azul waterfall was 5 minutes away and was BEAUTIFUL and so fun to swim in. Some small parts of the Villa are showing wear of age but owners are on top of things and doing repairs and regular upkeep. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We spent 12 days with one other couple at Doug and Janet's beautiful villa. The villa has a unique architectural design maximizing the gorgeous view and combining in-door and out-door spaces. It is up high enough to offer a constant cooling breeze making it comfortable even on the hottest days. The entire 5 acres is beautifully landscaped with a large variety of flowers and plants attracting a wide variety of butterflies and hummingbirds. The Villa comes complete with everything we needed to get started. We enjoyed the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It offers complete privacy with no views or sounds from neighboring properties. We felt very secure with a large front gate and fencing enclosure of the entire acreage. Doug and Janet are delightful people and most accessible and helpful. They even met us after dark upon arrival at a local business, drove us to the property and got us settled in their lovely home. Gorda Vista is in a great location with close accessibility to National Parks, beaches, grocery stores and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this luxury Villa. Thanks again to our lovely hosts, Doug and Janet.

You're in the middle of the jungle with all the amenities, but only 5 minutes from any service you might need. The property is fantastic! Be sure to have a 4x4 to ensure safe travels, better to have a pick-up truck if you can. D and J are very hospitable, responsive, and respectable. The home is very clean and well appointed. The pool is just what you need. My wife and I travelled for our honeymoon and the seclusion of the mountain side is exactly what you need. We enjoyed all the noises of the animals, the stars at night, the sunrises and sunsets. The locality to fantastic food, excursions, and the highway. Please stay here! You won’t regret it.

What an absolute amazing house. Completely surrounded by jungle but can still see the ocean. Seeing the monkeys flying through trees was so cool. Very well maintained and managed property. We would definitely stay here again.

We would absolutely stay here again! If you are wanting a place that feels secluded but is close to town this is the one!

Beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The grounds are kept so nicely with endless wildlife to watch. We loved hanging out in the pool and bird watching. The iguana that seems to reside on the grounds was a joy to see each day! The location was very convenient between Uvita and Dominical.There is some construction of a new home going on nearby so we could hear the workers during the day. Only recommendation would be to let the guests know when gardener/pool people would be coming as it was startling to have unexpected visitors.

The owners met us and personally went over details to know about the house. There was a security gate and fence. A Beautiful infinity pool overlooking jungle and ocean. The owners have a great eye for detail - lovely home and landscaped grounds. Fans and air conditioning in bedrooms. Howlers, toucans, scarlet rumped tanager, hummingbirds and cane toad seen around the property. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Better have a 4 wheel drive. The Villa was as advertised with spectacular views of the jungle and ocean off in the distance. The rooms had A/C and kitchen was very well stocked. Very close to a major supermarket and many towns with excellent restaurants so you have the option of eating at home or going out. Everything was clean and in working order and the infinity pool was great. The property itself is very secure (large fence encloses the living area) and private (neighbors are hundreds of meters away).Going to sleep and waking to the sounds of the jungle was an otherworldly experience. Doug and Janet are very responsive, helpful and laid back. The concierge service offered via Juli was very helpful as well and she helped us plan our activities and stay. It's very well located and there is a ton to do in the area. You do need a 4x4 capable rental in Costa Rica and would suggest tire insurance.Overall, fantastic, smooth experience and would highly recommend to anyone

We loved everything about this VRBO stay. Lovely view, easy check in, comfortable beds, privacy. Dominical is a quaint town with the friendliest ticos/ticas. We enjoyed the beach and the vendors and artists on the beach. My only disappointment is that we could not stay longer! Thank you to Lyle for all of the local recommendations.

This was a top notch house. There’s a reason why it’s all five star reviews. I loved every second of it. The living room can get a little hot since there is no AC due to the open air around the rooftop, but you can always open the sliders. I was just not wanting so many bugs in. So when I got too hot, I’d go sit by the lovely pool and be immediately cool. I saw monkeys, toucans, iguanas, the most beautiful hummingbirds I’ve ever seen in my life. Really spectacular. The owners and the manager are just fantastic. Great communication.

My wife was stunned by the beauty of looking through the house to the view as we walked through the front door. The house was very well appointed and maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed the property, the privacy, the view and the wildlife. Regular sightings of scarlet macaws and toucans. The property was absolutely amazing and definitely as advertised! The views are incredible, you're peacefully tucked away about 5 min into the jungle, and share your time with a bevy of wildlife. Julie, the concierge for the property, gave us several recommendations that we were glad we took her up on. A few of the highlights were the ATV jungle/coffee plantation tour, Titi zipline, the private chef, and our resident black iguana we named George. The property manager, Lyle, was very attentive and helpful with any questions or issues we had (which were few). My wife is already talking about when (not if) we come back it'll probably be back here so we can say hello to George again. Our only recommendation is to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, because the jungle wakes up at about 5am. Or you can simply get up early with a cup of coffee and sit on the patio while the toucans sing.

We have stayed at a lot of VRBO houses and I was skeptical that this one would live up to the amazing pictures - but it did and more! This is a beautiful house on an incredible property. Waking up with a view of the ocean, swimming in the private pool - my husband, kids, and I loved every minute of it. We saw monkeys, toucans, an iguana, tons of lizards, and even a sloth. The owner is very communicative and helpful. We would love to come back some day!

We spent 12 days with one other couple at Doug and Janet's beautiful villa. The villa has a unique architectural design maximizing the gorgeous view and combining in-door and out-door spaces. It is up high enough to offer a constant cooling breeze making it comfortable even on the hottest days. The entire 5 acres is beautifully landscaped with a large variety of flowers and plants attracting a wide variety of butterflies and hummingbirds. The Villa comes complete with everything we needed to get started. We enjoyed the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It offers complete privacy with no views or sounds from neighboring properties. We felt very secure with a large front gate and fencing enclosure of the entire acreage. Doug and Janet are delightful people and most accessible and helpful. They even met us after dark upon arrival at a local business, drove us to the property and got us settled in their lovely home. Gorda Vista is in a great location with close accessibility to National Parks, beaches, grocery stores and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this luxury Villa. Doug and Janet were great hosts. They were quick to respond with questions. They also met us at a local restaurant and led us up to the house. They also have Juli to be a concierge for your stay. She is amazing by scheduling excursions during your stay and was there when we could t find the location for an excursion by directing us and then calling the company to let them know we would be there. The house is the best of indoor/outdoor living . You can hear toucans and monkeys from the house. La Parcela restaurant was right down the road and we saw monkeys before we walked into the restaurant and even saw one in a tree right outside of the restaurant while eating. Food was delicious too. If you are wavering about booking this house, don’t be. We are already talking about our return trip. Pura vida!

What a great property with a fabulous location, pool, and view! We would definitely return. This was not our first time to Costa Rica, but it was our first time to Dominical. We loved how low key it was. We enjoyed waking up to the jungle sounds every morning. The pool was the best! Temp was perfect. We had a little hiccup at the start of the trip with the pool draining, but Doug responded right away, and made sure the problem was fixed, and got the pool filled back up to the top in no time (never cost us a minute of time in the pool). We had a few issues with water pressure (some related to filling the pool, and some just a local water issue), but nothing that was going to ruin our day, and Doug was extremely responsive to anything we reached out about. The gardens on the property are so neat, so many different species of plants and animals. We traveled with two teens who also really had a great time. We did a tour out to Corcovado with Bahia Adventures (definitely worth doing), and ATV tour (very fun-you will get dirty!), the boys went fishing on a small boat with a local in Uvita, and they came back with plenty! We had massages at the house (HIGHLY recommend), and also had some wonderful meals. Kids took surfing lessons at Bodhi (also great). If you have the chance to book a dinner at Rancho Cielo Alto, don't miss going there. It is truly an experience. We also loved Scala-great cocktails, food and service. Bar Jolly Roger and Phat Noodle were also favs.

Our time at the villa was as enjoyable and satisfying from previous stays along the coast with magnificent views, a cascade of flora and fauna to distract and a great outdoors set-up to never require much time inside. This is an exceptional house in a remote and private area. The hosts were welcoming and responsive. The best feature of the home is the pool. It’s perfect for lounging and laps. We will definitely come again. Make sure to rent a 4x4 - the mile trip from the main road to the home climbs about 500 feet and can get pretty rough in the rain.

What a great property with a fabulous location, pool, and view! We would definitely return. This was not our first time to Costa Rica, but it was our first time to Dominical. We loved how low key it was. We enjoyed waking up to the jungle sounds every morning. The pool was the best! Temp was perfect. We had a little hiccup at the start of the trip with the pool draining, but Doug responded right away, and made sure the problem was fixed, and got the pool filled back up to the top in no time (never cost us a minute of time in the pool). We had a few issues with water pressure (some related to filling the pool, and some just a local water issue), but nothing that was going to ruin our day, and Doug was extremely responsive to anything we reached out about. The gardens on the property are so neat, so many different species of plants and animals. We traveled with two teens who also really had a great time. We did a tour out to Corcovado with Bahia Adventures (definitely worth doing), and ATV tour (very fun-you will get dirty!), the boys went fishing on a small boat with a local in Uvita, and they came back with plenty! We had massages at the house (HIGHLY recommend), and also had some wonderful meals. Kids took surfing lessons at Bodhi (also great). If you have the chance to book a dinner at Rancho Cielo Alto, don't miss going there. It is truly an experience. We also loved Scala-great cocktails, food and service. Bar Jolly Roger and Phat Noodle were also favs.

My wife and I stayed at Gorda Vista Jungle Villa for a belated honeymoon for one week. It was a magical place, set well into the mountain jungle, almost two miles from the main road. The pictures are accurate but don’t do it justice. Doug kept in contact with us and met us at the Super Dominical, then escorted us up to the property. It was breathtaking in the limited daylight, and we woke to see the whole property the next morning. Definitely take advantage of the concierge service with Juli Harris. It helps with getting an idea of what activities you can enjoy when you are in the area. I was disappointed that during our stay, we didn’t see any monkeys or sloths from the house (although we did see them elsewhere), but we saw an iguana, basilisk, butterflies, Toucans, bats,and could hear Howler monkeys. Just so you know, it does take a 4WD to get there and it’s at least a 3 hour drive from the San Jose airport. This was the best VRBO we’ve stayed in! Alan

The property was absolutely amazing and definitely as advertised! The views are incredible, you're peacefully tucked away about 5 min into the jungle, and share your time with a bevy of wildlife. Julie, the concierge for the property, gave us several recommendations that we were glad we took her up on. A few of the highlights were the ATV jungle/coffee plantation tour, Titi zipline, the private chef, and our resident black iguana we named George. The property manager, Lyle, was very attentive and helpful with any questions or issues we had (which were few). My wife is already talking about when (not if) we come back it'll probably be back here so we can say hello to George again. Our only recommendation is to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, because the jungle wakes up at about 5am. Or you can simply get up early with a cup of coffee and sit on the patio while the toucans sing.

Beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The grounds are kept so nicely with endless wildlife to watch. We loved hanging out in the pool and bird watching. The iguana that seems to reside on the grounds was a joy to see each day! The location was very convenient between Uvita and Dominical.There is some construction of a new home going on nearby so we could hear the workers during the day. Only recommendation would be to let the guests know when gardener/pool people would be coming as it was startling to have unexpected visitors.

We had a wonderful week at this villaThe house is perfect; it has everything you could imagine. The location is unbeatable. You're in the middle of the jungle with all the amenities, but only 5 minutes from any service you might need. We are a family of four who work too much and spend a lot of vacation time with friends and extended family. This vacation was a long overdue trip with just the four of us, husband wife 10y/o and 6y/o. And it was everything we wanted it to be and more. We did family surfing, poolside massage, catamaran trip ( with snorkeling and a water slide and maybe the best meal of the week!), zip lining, and found out way to visit, swim, climb and even slide down probably 4 or 5 different waterfalls (10y/o even, but the 6y/o self selected out). We enjoyed sunny mornings and then watching the storm clouds roll in during late lunches… cooling everything off. The normal August rain did not stop us from doing much of anything, tho of course must be cautious about bouldering etc when the slippery factor is amped up. We loved the wildlife in CR, but will advise you to keep those screen doors closed to the bedrooms. Insects are part of life. Our last night we had the private chef come and at first I was worried it was just tad too expensive for the kids to appreciate, until they sat with us and ate everything and we had the most relaxing, fun, chill, bonding meal of the week. Worth every penny. Every evening we all got in the pool and played and splashed/outdoor showered, snuggled into their beds with relative ease. Costa Rica is a lovely country. Credit cards are accepted most everywhere but we were glad when we got some colones and figured out the exchange rate. Absolute dream.

Doug and Janet were great hosts. They were quick to respond with questions. They also met us at a local restaurant and led us up to the house. They also have Juli to be a concierge for your stay. She is amazing by scheduling excursions during your stay and was there when we could t find the location for an excursion by directing us and then calling the company to let them know we would be there. The house is the best of indoor/outdoor living . You can hear toucans and monkeys from the house. La Parcela restaurant was right down the road and we saw monkeys before we walked into the restaurant and even saw one in a tree right outside of the restaurant while eating. Food was delicious too. If you are wavering about booking this house, don’t be. We are already talking about our return trip. Pura vida!

Beautiful and well designed house. It had everything you could possibly need. And everything worked - hot water, AC, stove etc. Comfortable king bed. The pool was fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the comfortable day bed and all the pillows located under cover next to the pool. Great place to hang out and watch the birds and enjoy the views when we wanted to be out of the sun. The owner was easy to reach and promptly answered all our questions. This was my 6th trip to CR in 33 years and this place was by far the nicest Ive ever stayed.

We had a wonderful stay here! The views are amazing and the sounds of nature are peaceful and enlightening. We wanted to know which bird or monkey was making all the sounds! There were two toucans that visited us every day and evening. The pool is so refreshing after a day of adventure. The kitchen is large and very well equipped. We had a private chef come to cook dinner for us one evening and it was an awesome experience! The surrounding area is quaint but perfect for what we were looking for. Thank you Doug and Janet for having us. A special thanks for showing us around the property late at night due to flight delays. You are so kind!

What an amazing place! My wife and I stayed there recently and it was beautiful! It was better than we could have hoped for! The location and seclusion are wonderful, the house is gorgeous! The owners Doug and Janet were very attentive and helpful! They really helped us get into the "Pura Vida" lifestyle! Town and multiple beaches are close by, but we usually were only away a couple hours because we just wanted to get back to the house! There are also many excellent places to eat close by. We had Yolanda and Wendy from Jungle Sun Spa come to the house for massages; highly recommended! They are excellent! If you get the chance to stay here, make it happen! We are looking foward to returning!

Paradise! The grounds and Villa are beautiful with a stunning view. Layout and features of the Villa are well thought out. We loved the covered patio area, ability to open full wall windows in kitchen/living, patios off rooms were lovely and pool lights in evening made for gorgeous evening swims. Our kids (ages 7 and 8) appreciated the varying depths of the pool with a shallow part near sunken loungers, a large step down they could play on and then a shallow end (nose above water on tip toes) and a deep end (~6 feet) for diving. Lots of pool floats for use. Town of Dominical had some amazing restaurants and coffee shops. Small grocery store nearby was a pricier than we had at other locations so we wished we had purchased more groceries and liquor before arriving. Owners were AMAZING and super helpful with check in, answering questions and addressing any concerns we had. Power went out a couple nights (which supposedly is uncommon) but they ensured we had charged flashlights and brought extra batteries when one ran out. Concierge was helpful in booking some excursions for us and even coordinated babysitting so adults could go paragliding one day (highly recommend Zion paragliding…top highlight of our trip)! Poza Azul waterfall was 5 minutes away and was BEAUTIFUL and so fun to swim in. Some small parts of the Villa are showing wear of age but owners are on top of things and doing repairs and regular upkeep. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had a wonderful stay at this luxury jungle villa, which perfectly blends high-end comfort with raw tropical beauty. The landscape is absolutely beautiful and offers fantastic, panoramic views from every angle. We had a wonderful stay at this luxury jungle villa, which perfectly blends high-end comfort with raw tropical beauty. The landscape is absolutely beautiful and offers fantastic, panoramic views from every angle. It is an incredibly livable space with very comfortable furniture and all the modern amenities you could possibly need. We loved waking up to the sights and sounds of exotic birds everywhere around the property. What an incredible villa, pool, and beautifully landscaped property, with a wonderful ocean view! We had an amazing time at this beautiful property, and Janet and Doug ( owners) kindly guided us to the villa, and gave us a thorough tour. They have thought of everything you could ever need for your stay. We spent so much time in the beautiful pool, and were visited by lots of wildlife, which we loved. We saw lots of monkeys in the trees around the pool, and the howler monkeys would wake us in the mornings. So many toucans and parrots! The location of the villa is wonderful too. The drive up is fairly easy, and it is close to Dominicalito Beach, a great yoga studio, and the Kunjani Cafe. Juli ( concierge) was incredible! She booked us for horseback riding on the beach for sunset, and several dinner reservations. So very helpful. We will definitely be back to stay again! Thank you Janet and Doug!
