Stay was good and location was fab, but when we returned home received 4 separate parking tickets for parking in the hotel over our 2 night stay, when we were assured by a member of staff when he checked us in that he also updated the car parking system with our car details. We are now in the middle of trying to sort this out with the car parking company. This could be very off putting to book this accommodation again

Enjoyed my stay and found the room both clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. The one thing I would improve would be to move the check in area from being at the bar. ( on a gorgeous Saturday the bar was very busy which made this more difficult than needed). Did not detract from a great stay.

Parking onsite which is good as it’s expensive in Ambleside. Clean and well equipped rooms but small so not really suitable for a long stay. Staff are great, very helpful. Good breakfast choice. Gets very busy for food in the evening but plenty of nearby options.

Stayed one night. Room and bathroom was extremely small, but luckily the room had a nice AC. Even though the road was directly outside our window, we were not disturbed by the vehicles passing. Staff was very nice. There was much confusion when we arrived, but we soon figured out that the "rooms" part of the place doesn't have a reception. You go into the restaurant on the other side of the road to check in. Warm breakfast is at a buffet. We had a drink outside by the water, very nice. We did not have dinner here, we walked into Ambleside for some amazing tapas.

Location magnificent and iseal for a lakes holiday. Restaurant bar good. Dinner menu very average. Staff very friendly. Complimentary breakfast poor and cooked items almost cold. Very limited if you are vegetarian. Parking is a major issue. If you can get a space hang on to it. Would be inadequate even iif exclusive to residents but also at a charge open to non-residents. Overall impression disappointing but could easily be brilliant.

It was at the head of the Lake, making the scenery beautiful. The large lawn where we could dine whilst looking over the lake. This was so peaceful! Can't think of anything we disliked.

Room was very small , but clean. Beer garden was lovely. Wanted to order 2 Irish coffees but was told it was too late ,it was only 9-30 in the evening. Only serve meals till 9pm ,as there is nowhere else nearby to get a meal found this not good . Breakfast was average bacon very dry .Saff were lovely

We had a very pleasant two night stay at The Wateredge Inn, which has a truly wonderful lakeside location with great views across the lake to the distant fells. While the hotel has some of the most garrulous staff we have ever encountered anywhere in the world, and the restaurant / bar menu was pretty typical "chain" quality (and pricing), we thought that the hotel was very clean and extremely well maintained with good parking (in The Windermere Rooms). However two things potential travelers should perhaps be aware of: a) the hotel is NOT in Ambleside (it's about a mile away) and Ambleside itself is pretty short of parking - so you have to expect a walk into the center of town; b) the rooms are exceedingly small (and ours was a "superior" room). Really a miracle in ingenuity (getting the smallest bathroom sink in the world (?), and all the other amenities into the bathroom) with barely space to walk around the sides of the bed. But... everything worked, the room was cozy enough and really very neat and tidy and nicely presented and furnished - thank you! Would we go back? Maybe. It's convenient to find (and park) and the location is excellent.... but maybe there are other places to explore in The Lakes?

Clean room but mold around the shower cubicle. Breakfast was ok but if you’re staying over the road it’s a bit of chore if the weather is bad as breakfast is served in the main building. Wouldn’t go back due to the logistics of getting to the breakfast area in the bad weather.

A very quiet peaceful break away food was very good the staff were friendly and welcoming. Located right on the lake so views were amazing lovely clean room would highly recommend a visit.

Really enjoyed the stay. Good geographical location. Rooms clean and tidy with all facilities. Breakfast excellent. Staff very pleasant. Will stay again.

Clean room. Double and sofa bed for 3. Good sized warm room and bathroom. Nice location. Breakfast good - hot plate buffet as well as cereal / fruit/ yoghurt. Meals ok in bar. Run out of some things, so eat earlier ! Dont bother with cheese platter - small plate for £13 !! 😂. Would return

Staff were great, bed was extremely comfy, breakfast included was decent. The only negative was the condition of the room being quite run down but the bed and A/C made up for this.

Lovely smoorh check in . Lovely friendly staff. Room on 2nd floor. A few too many stairs for me. Room was a tad cold but had a good heaters. Room a tad small. Bathroom lovely but a bit narrow.. Food lovely . Nice and tasty but areas far too hot. Didnt sleep well aa bed quite hard and noise from traffic and creaky floor boards keot waking us up . Breakfast was lovely but asked for scrambled egg and got poached. All in all a nice stay

The property is ideally located with lovely sitting area outside by the lake and walkable into the town centre. The breakfast buffet was very good and plenty of variety and the meals were also very good. Our accommodation was in the dog friendly section over the road from the main hotel, which was a short walk across the road. Our room was on the ground floor and could not leave the windows open as backed onto car park. There was no air conditioning so the room was very hot which made it difficult to sleep. The pillows were hard and no fridge in the room just an empty cupboard which looked like once held a fridge. The gutter was leaking so when it rained all the water poured down and made it very noisy. Some of the staff were abrupt and not very pleasant including the bar man on the outside bar . The hotel was expensive and basically overpriced for the service we got. Premier Inn are cheaper and friendly staff, unfortunately none around the Lakes. The bar staff were helpful and friendly and if you stayed for 2 nights and opted to not have room serviced then you got a free drink at the bar, we got 2 glasses of medium wine free (normally about £16) do this was good. We would not stay here again.

Stayed one night. Room and bathroom was extremely small, but luckily the room had a nice AC. Even though the road was directly outside our window, we were not disturbed by the vehicles passing. Staff was very nice. There was much confusion when we arrived, but we soon figured out that the "rooms" part of the place doesn't have a reception. You go into the restaurant on the other side of the road to check in. Warm breakfast is at a buffet. We had a drink outside by the water, very nice. We did not have dinner here, we walked into Ambleside for some amazing tapas.

Would of given 5 Star review,but ehen in waterside lounge area on Thursday i asked a member of staff if i could close the door as it was very cold and we were having a meal,i was told no as they were feeling warm........

Good stuff: The housekeeping staff were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms was great. Not so good stuff: Menu was a bit disappointing but only because there are 4 other Inn Group Hotels in Ambleside which all had basically the same menu. The breakfast staff were a little abrupt.

The property is ideally located with lovely sitting area outside by the lake and walkable into the town centre. The breakfast buffet was very good and plenty of variety and the meals were also very good. Our accommodation was in the dog friendly section over the road from the main hotel, which was a short walk across the road. Our room was on the ground floor and could not leave the windows open as backed onto car park. There was no air conditioning so the room was very hot which made it difficult to sleep. The pillows were hard and no fridge in the room just an empty cupboard which looked like once held a fridge. The gutter was leaking so when it rained all the water poured down and made it very noisy. Some of the staff were abrupt and not very pleasant including the bar man on the outside bar . The hotel was expensive and basically overpriced for the service we got. Premier Inn are cheaper and friendly staff, unfortunately none around the Lakes. The bar staff were helpful and friendly and if you stayed for 2 nights and opted to not have room serviced then you got a free drink at the bar, we got 2 glasses of medium wine free (normally about £16) do this was good. We would not stay here again.

It was at the head of the Lake, making the scenery beautiful. The large lawn where we could dine whilst looking over the lake. This was so peaceful! Can't think of anything we disliked.

Perfect Location & as we were looking for.. Stayed in a lovely room behind the main buildings, small block of four rooms and extremely comfortable.. Staff worked hard during an extremely busy weekend but nothing was too much trouble.. Would definitely stay there again…👍

We had a very pleasant two night stay at The Wateredge Inn, which has a truly wonderful lakeside location with great views across the lake to the distant fells. While the hotel has some of the most garrulous staff we have ever encountered anywhere in the world, and the restaurant / bar menu was pretty typical "chain" quality (and pricing), we thought that the hotel was very clean and extremely well maintained with good parking (in The Windermere Rooms). However two things potential travelers should perhaps be aware of: a) the hotel is NOT in Ambleside (it's about a mile away) and Ambleside itself is pretty short of parking - so you have to expect a walk into the center of town; b) the rooms are exceedingly small (and ours was a "superior" room). Really a miracle in ingenuity (getting the smallest bathroom sink in the world (?), and all the other amenities into the bathroom) with barely space to walk around the sides of the bed. But... everything worked, the room was cozy enough and really very neat and tidy and nicely presented and furnished - thank you! Would we go back? Maybe. It's convenient to find (and park) and the location is excellent.... but maybe there are other places to explore in The Lakes?

Location magnificent and iseal for a lakes holiday. Restaurant bar good. Dinner menu very average. Staff very friendly. Complimentary breakfast poor and cooked items almost cold. Very limited if you are vegetarian. Parking is a major issue. If you can get a space hang on to it. Would be inadequate even iif exclusive to residents but also at a charge open to non-residents. Overall impression disappointing but could easily be brilliant.

The hotel is in a great location and we had a Windermere room behind hotel across the road. Car parking was a bonus. Breakfast good. Had lunch there with family who came to us and it was very disappointing which was a shame.

Room was very small , but clean. Beer garden was lovely. Wanted to order 2 Irish coffees but was told it was too late ,it was only 9-30 in the evening. Only serve meals till 9pm ,as there is nowhere else nearby to get a meal found this not good . Breakfast was average bacon very dry .Saff were lovely

Location is great. Staff are very helpful, breakfast is excellent and lots of choice. We had a superior room at the Windermere Rooms. I expected a better view/facilities for the cost, rooms were very warm but could be easily fixed by turning the radiators down. Floor in the bedroom was slightly uneven which didn’t affect the stay but something I didn’t expect for the price of the room. I would definitely stay again but probably wouldn’t pay for a superior room.

Clean room. Double and sofa bed for 3. Good sized warm room and bathroom. Nice location. Breakfast good - hot plate buffet as well as cereal / fruit/ yoghurt. Meals ok in bar. Run out of some things, so eat earlier ! Dont bother with cheese platter - small plate for £13 !! 😂. Would return

We found the room very satisfactory and enjoyed our stay. The only (minor) disappointment was the quality of the food in the evenings which seemed to be 'frozen heated up' which was tolerable bur slightly disappointing. Breakfasts by contrast were very satisfactory.

Terrible hotel, very dirty and mold detected. Please avoid!! There many other better hotels in the area this was the worst. We even left to go home a night earlier as we couldnt even stand to sleep another night, rather cut our holiday short. The staff were too busy serving drinks to check us in and out. They offered no alternatives or a solution. The towels were stained badly and smelt terrible. Probably the worst experience ever had with a hotel. AVOID!!!

The location of this accommodation is absolutely fabulous and is undoubtedly its biggest selling point. Being so close to the lake and within easy reach of the surrounding attractions made it the perfect base. The breakfast was also excellent; fresh, high quality, and delicious, with plenty of choice for cooked english breakfast lovers and a great start to the day. The Windermere Rooms themselves were adequate and comfortable enough for a short stay, but they simply didn't justify the price charged. While they met our basic needs, they lacked the quality and attention to detail you would expect at this price point. The courtyard entrance to the rooms is particularly disappointing. It feels gloomy, neglected, and is in need of some attention to make it more welcoming. The outdoor seating area was also unusable during our stay because the metal chairs had no cushions, making them impossible to sit on. On a much more positive note, the beer garden at the Wateredge Inn, just across the road, is exceptional. It offers a wonderful setting to relax with a drink and enjoy the views, and it is always one of the highlights of our visit.
