Extended Stay America Suites - Pittsburgh - West Mifflin

Didn't even meet the standard, no ice machine, no hair dryer, no water bottles ( not even vending machine)..

My 1st time, here. I have relatives that prefer to stay here, but I am partial to other brands. It was near and the staff was knowledgeable. I wish there was a lobby for comfort and to greet visitors.

No ice machine.

Although we were in a non smoking room, the smell of smoke was prevelant in the hallways. The room was clean, but no ammenaties unless you called for them, ie, coffee maker, hair dryer. No ice machine anywhere. The grounds were dirty and unkept and there must be people living in the hotel and they were just hanging around the lobby and outside entrance makin it uncomfortable, like I was staying in someone else's house. The dumpster was full to overflowing. I would not stay here again.

I liked the room. It was very nice and the air conditioning worked good. I was disappointed that we couldn’t get ice on the premises.

Check in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly. Rooms however were substandard. The windows were very hard to open and close, the paint on the walls were chipped in several areas, and there were dead bugs on the window sills that appeared to have been there for quite some time. So-called "breakfast" was a joke and they don't even have an ice machine. The only reason I stayed was the price and it's close proximity to dining, shopping and entertainment venues. To top it off on the morning of check-out they decided to shut off the water to do repairs, so not the best experience overall.

Easy check-in - free onsite parking - good value.

Booked months in advance, upon arrival- front desk person told us they were unsure if there was a clean room. Hallways smelled like marijuana, matresses were not comfortable, no ice machine, and requested additional pillows because the ones on the bed were flat and was told they had none

I booked this stay as a last minute opening; the PGA tournament was in town and everything else was either sold out or priced 4-5 times normal rates. The positives are the hotel is very clean and I felt safe inside and outside of the hotel. Those are the only positives. I booked this extended stay with the intention of cooking dinner and breakfast in the full kitchen to save money by not eating out. I have stay in many extended stays with kitchens all over the US; this is the first that had absolutely zero cookware, utensils, plates, or cups in the room. I had to request items at the front desk and wait 5 minutes for the front desk attendant to “give me what they had” - one plate, one mug, a fork and butter knife, and a serving spoon so large I could not possibly eat off of it. No pots or pans were available. This did not in anyway meet the bare minimum of what is expected in a room with a full kitchen. The “grab and go” breakfast is in a corner next to the elevator, only one person can use it at a time and the line of people waiting blocks the elevator. Extended stay hotels usually cater to business groups, but thete is absolutely no place for people to meet, sit down, talk, hangout in this hotel. Another common feature of extended stay hotels is ice makers in the freezer than can produce a batch of ice in about 30 minutes. At this location, the only option for ice is plastic trays that will take several hours to freeze. No ice machines and a bottle of water cost $4.

Very poor condition of the property and rooms. Inconvenient “policies” such as needing to order basic things like cups, utensils, and other kitchen items. Vending machines are disgustingly overpriced!! $4.00 for a 16 oz bottle of water?!? The AC unit was grossly in need of cleaning (vent filters). Kitchen floor was sticky. Halls smelled of fried fish. Poorly lit everywhere. Minimal tv channels.

Grease stains/splater on walls and door frames, including bathroom ceiling. Lamps and headboard incredibly dusty. Stove had crumbs on and carpet looked dirty. Chair had stuff slopped down the side and also found pet hair on pillows.

The room was super clean!

The room was unsatisfactory. Desk chair was extremely stained, stained bedskirt, ants & roaches. Shower bar was broken.

Property run down. Carpet wet in our room- smelled more each day. Dog poop everywhere, garbage everywhere. Beds uncomfortable, old pillows. Would not recommend.

There was no one at the front. We were on camera. The elevator smelled like throw up. There was no coffee pot, flatware, glasses. & kitchen products. The lights in the hallway was like the shining. The toliet was dirty with something. The person in the room above did not get the memo quite hours (all night long). I had to get fork from the front desk and they were dirty.I could go on

Our room smelled like mold and mildew. I would never recommend this place. She said that breakfast was between six and nine, but they didn’t even have water at the hotel. It was just coffee and a muffin and granola bar very disappointed and there were prostitutes out front.

No hotel smelled bad trash in hallway for days chipped paint in room and permanent ring in the bathtub.

Road construction just outside facility - which makes travel a little inconvenient. I stayed on the 4rth floor which had a musty odor. Hallways were unkept. "breakfast"??? Front desk was extremely helpful. You get what you pay for!

I liked that i was immediately greeted when I walked into the lobby to check in. The woman behind the desk was cracking fun jokes and making my Fiancée and I feel welcome right away. Check in went flawlessly, and our room was waiting on us in a very clean state. Quite spacious for the small room that we had. Very nice bathroom and shower with a full mirror and almost therapeutic shower head. Plenty of towels had been provided. Comfortable bed, with 3 pillows. (Ask for more). My only complaint with the room was the TV was outdated and the channel guide system didnt work all that well.

I've never stayed at a motel with such slow internet. I've never been asked to pay extra for increased access either. Many times the TV would take 10-15 minutes to load the channels. And the snack vending machine was broken.

Both window frames prevented complete closure letting in winter air and road noise

Staff was friendly and very helpful. Room smelled like cigarette smoke as evidenced by cigarette butts in window sill. Asked for small pan and one was quickly provided but the quality of one taken from a dumpster at Goodwill. I am very sensitive to noise and too much traffic noise from room facing street. Windows do not close securely and there are double windows which would help cut down on noise but they are disabled so screens can be installed. Guess that is for the smokers. AC is waaaaay too loud but cooled the room well.

Quiet and comfortable. Door would not unlock or was hard to unlock. Had to try multiple times and sometimes get a new key.

The bed was awful! So hard I have bruises on my hips

Reserved a King bed was told no Kings were available so had to take two twins. One twin frame was broken so had to use a drawer from night table to prop it up. In general, the room was very run down - carpet torn, bedding torn, tub chipped up, etc. On the positive, the staff really tried, they were pleasant and apologetic but there wasn’t a whole lot they could do.

Shower was nice and hot, room somewhat clean. The toilet was broken and water ran in the tank. We had to turn water off. Loud fan noise coming up from the floor below very loud! Bed, hard as a rock.

The light in the room didn’t work nor did the microwave work. Mentioned it to staff and they said it will be fixed in the morning and the never fixed anything. I wouldn’t stay here for free. This place needs updated and the hallways smell bad

Noisy and not enough staff

The first staff we encountered was rude and very unhelpful. We came for our son's wedding and almost missed it due to staff refusing to ask house keeping to expedite our room. Wedding was at for and we were 19 minutes away. Or room was not ready until 3:20. And was only ready then because of a second staff coming in and rushing house keeping.

I liked the staff that was on duty when I checked in. She was very helpful! The lock on my door I believe was broken. A few times, I couldn't get in. Then, when the staff on duty the 2nd night came up to help me (after 4 attempts with new cards), she seemed 'put out' that she had to be bothered. She came up (I was on the 3rd floor) and tried but it wouldn't open for her. She finally tried but instead of pushing the handle down, she yanked it up and pushed with her shoulder (and whole body) and opened. She said 'you just have to push.' The next day (Suday), I could not get it to lock! I reported it to the front staff. She was going to call maintenance and have them come in. I had plans, so I did not wait. When I returned that evening, my favorite staff was on duty and I asked about my door. She said they did a bandaid fix and that maintenance would look at it the next day. Anyway, I will not be staying any of your properties again and I will not recommend them.

Staff is always pleasant and accommodating. I always stay here for my trips to Pittsburgh.

Our toilet would not flush. Maintenance left for the day and the desk clerk came to room advised us to fill back of toilet with buckets of water due to no other rooms available. The valve on toilet was adjusted and toilet filled but only one time and we were left to fill the back of toilet with cups of water. Desk staff was notified about issue at checkout and no apologies were issued staff was very passive about incident.

Justin at the front desk was very helpful and went above and beyond to help with all my needs.

The staff were very nice and personable.

The hotel was fine and the staff was nice. It was a bit difficult to get to from UPitt though - lots of dark, back, and windy roads.

Nice clean rooms. Close to downtown and shopping.

A lot of traffic construction in the area. Takes a long time to get around the local areas.

Stay was great. Close to all the shops and places to eat. Also minutes from downtown.

I like the easy check in and location is convenient to all necessary eating or shopping options.

There was road construction in front of the hotel so you had to exit the parking lot and drive down over a mile to turn around to go the other way...not the hotel's fault but was a bit inconvenience. Staff was courteous but the person checking me in didn't know how to look for a room on the same floor or closer to my companions, there were no cooking utensils at all in the room I had (not even a plate or cutlery) and the phone in my room was just for decoration since there wasn't a phone cord attached.

Average hotel for the price, however confortable, good bed. The hotel is along a road and there is no side walk, even to get to next restaurant half mile away you need to drive. The kitchen was without any equipment, not even a fork let alone pans however I could get a couple of things from the desk (very polite people)

A decent room for the price, nothing exceptional. Unfortunately major road construction made getting in and out difficult, but I was only there 1 night so not so bad. Overall a fair value for the price.

For the price, the place is great. If you need better amenities, then choose a different chain. Breakfast was not really a breakfast, but the price was good for the stay.

The carpet floor and washroom are dirty. The linens show sign of overused. The furnitures are out dated. The breakfast is also not good.

There was a really nasty smell throughout the hotel. Breakfast was very lack-luster. For a continental breakfast it was pretty lame.

Staff was friendly. Definitely very quiet. Didn't like how everyone smoked at front door. Right under sign that said no smoking. Definitely not 100 feet from front door. Room needs updated, badly. Mold on shower curtain. Shelf in closet broke. Fridge was dirty. You weren't able to use Side door to enter building. The reader doesn't work. The complimentary breakfast is laughable. Only coffee and muffins and oatmeal.

We enjoyed our stay. Just wish there was more choices for breakfast. Juices for kids would be nice.
