SpringHill Suites by Marriott Roanoke North

Good hotel convenient to I81. Lobby was clean and the check-in person was very nice. Free Breakfast offerings were about the same as the Comfort Inn Suites we stayed in the night before except the Coffee. The coffee was empty when we arrived around 7. No one was within sight for a refill. I walked over to the front desk to report and got the”look” but shortly someone came and refilled it. Advertised as Starbucks it was very weak. Oh well. The rest of the Hotel and staff were great!

I did not actually stay in the room. I paid for the room for my son and daughter-in-law. We drove from Florida to Roanoke, Virginia to visit my sister and her family. I stayed with my sister. She only has one guest room. I can only tell that my son and his wife were happy with the accommodations. We got an ADA room as my daughter in law is handicapped. She said the roll in shower was wonderful. I was only at the hotel for check-in. I checked in online prior to arrival, so the check-in went quickly. The hotel lobby is beautiful. Parking seemed to be a little tight. I gave an excellent rating because my son and his wife are used to Disney Resorts, so their standards are high. If it had not been a great stay, they would have voice their opinion for sure. The hotel was within 5 minutes of my sister's home. That made the traveling for the kids to and fro much nicer.

Hotels.com screwed up my reservation (as they did the next hotel on my multi-city trip), so I got there & only 1 room was reserved. Since it wasn’t busy, no big deal, except the front desk staff said there was some “new” system in use and they couldn’t add a room to my reservation or create a 2nd one. Completely ridiculous. So I stood in the lobby, in front of hotel staff, and had to make a reservation in my cell phone. The person who checked us in was either in a foul mood or seriously hates her job, because she was defensive & rude the entire time, when she should have been profusely apologizing & offering us freebies for the inconvenience. The room was spacious but had ridiculously inadequate storage. All in closet but only 1 rod, 4 teeny weeny shelves. There was no functional chest of drawers. The same front desk person claimed they had no additional hangers. Like many hotels, they have (presumably) used COVID as an excuse to avoid cleaning rooms daily. We asked for our room to be cleaned every couple of days, but even then only half the room was cleaned. Probably won’t stay in a Springhill Suites again unless I can’t avoid it.

The rooms were really nice

very clean, staff is nice, very quiet.
