We loved the location, ease of check in, apartment itself (reminded us of the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan), apartment shower was excellent. Perfect apartment. But Expedia said the booking included breakfast and there was no breakfast offered. Also would be great if it had a pool.

Really helpful friendly staff. Easy check in prices. Great location for walking and dining. Original windows mean that street noise is a problem at night, especially weekends. So lots. And we were on the 8th floor. If the windows are replaced, it will be much better. Parking is not on site and if you use their valley, hours are limited. Easier to park at a nearby public lot. Cheaper too.

Everything great except the valet parking. Do not get the valet. It’s not covered, it’s expensive, and you’ll wait forever for the car to be parked and retrieved. Park at the lot down the road.

The hotel was fine. The city parking lot was one block from the hotel and you had to walk back and also for breakfast you had to walk a block to get a taco and a cup of coffee when there was a coffee and donut shop right next-door.

All the staff were super nice. Our room was perfection until we pulled the couch bed out and found a stain, a dead roach, and leftover food in it. 😖😩. Super disappointed we kinda needed the third bed but we managed. We didn’t notice it until 2 in the morning so we didn’t bother letting the front desk know. Also thought it was kinda weird the smoke detector had a plastic bag over it 😟. Overall it was a good stay.

This hotel was perfect! It is a historic building so, it isn’t as pristine as newer hotels, but it has lots of character. The room was clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The location was amazing. We were less than a block to the Riverwalk and a block to the Alamo. Parking at the Houston Street Garage was cheap and safe.

Several issues with this property: the photos are misleading. Our apartment was nothing like the photos. It was dirty, linens are paper thin, pilled, stained and some pillows didn’t have pillowcases. The bathroom was nasty. Mold, hair, the hair dryer was covered in some yellow sticky stuff. The fabric furniture was dusty and the rugs were dirty, old and unraveling. The iron has burnt fabric stock on it so it could be used. We had to clean the shower and bathroom before taking a shower. The towels are also old, thin and scratchy. Hotels.Com says there’s free parking but there’s only valet parking at around $50 plus tax which for downtown San Antonio is standard but should be disclosed in advance. We parked about a block away for $10 a night but be aware that’s public parking and not surveilled. The positives are the price and the fact that you can accommodate 4 people for the price of one hotel room. Yet, cleanliness shouldn’t be compromised. Look at the photos. This property needs to review their advertising photos and adjust to reality. Entrance to apartments, elevators and hotel after hours is keyless. You get a unique code that unlocks doors and allows you to get in the elevator. The young lady that was there when we arrived, gave us clean sheets & a clean duvet as the one in our room was stained and hadn’t been changed. She was the most pleasant experience about our stay.

I received a text that my room was ready at around 2 pm. Assigned room #608. I arrived at 4 pm and checked in at the front desk and they gave me a fob to head up to my room. I got to my room and it looked like housekeeping missed the room and it was not ready. So I went back down to let them know and they reassigned me to room #512. They mentioned to use the same code issued to me for #608 to work for room #512. Nope it did not. So then I kept having to have an employee to let me into my own room because no codes worked. It was a little bit of a hassle. I tried to connect to the WiFi and they never gave me the code to room #512. So I called the front desk. I was placed on hold for the longest. I went down again to have them issue me the WiFi password. Again, had to go down again. Finally made it back to my room and took a nap. All of a sudden I was woken up by someone trying to get into my room! That was scary because I had no idea who it was. They left my door open and latch was holding it back thank goodness!! So then I called the front desk and of course was put on hold for 23 mins! By then I decided to go downstairs and ask them what was going on and they said it was an employee who tried to go into my room. I didn’t feel comfortable anymore at this point. I had gone through so much since arriving at the property. Only one elevator worked. The room floor was dirty!! I travel for work and I notice a lot of things. Overall, I’d think twice before coming to stay here again.

Its an older building. Con: window is thin, noise until 2am. Allergy to animal don’t stay here, floors had animal strain the rug also smell. Bathroom has mold, AC vent and fan are not dusted. Hotel staff were excellent, super helpful. For more comfortable stay, i would have paid more for another hotel.

Great location! Close to so many wonderful restaurants and attractions. The room is small but nice, including a kitchenette and spacious bathroom.The only downside was the noise level from outside. If you choose to stay here bring earplugs! And park a block away at the Houston Garage for $10 a day!

Hotel was unique and in very good location, walking distance to RiverWalk and Alamo and still good parking option when traveling with car. Rooms were clean and very functional, very good wifi connection. Only clear drawback was noise coming from the street. I think windows were single pane and it was very difficult to get to sleep without earbuds.

This is a nice hotel but the rooms are very, very small. Good enough for one person for a short stay. Steps from Riverwalk which is a great feature. My biggest issue was that the TV didn't work at all. Download this, take a photo of that on your phone, etc. Horrible. A no frill stay.

The only major downside of this property is the windows are paper thin. It was absolutely ridiculous How noisy it is inside the apartment all the way up until midnight based on all of the live entertainment, etc., outside

It is in a perfect location-within 3 -5 min walk to River walk and Alamo. Only issue was that there are no black out curtains and everything in the room is white which made it all the more brighter at 7am Lol

Our team stayed at the Maverick while attending a conference. The rooms were perfect for our needs and complimentary bottled water was greatly appreciated for the Texas heat! Check in and out was relativly seamless although I think there is a minor disconnect with the info emails about using the check in app when using a third party to reserve. By far, the highlight of our stay was the service we received from the concierges, from accepting packages to providing great recommendations in the area; they really went above and beyond (Crystal especially).

HORRIBLE customer service. I never write bad review but this one deserves it. I've been in contact with the San Antonio branch multiple times for the return of a precious item. I have spoke with Mickjael and April multiple times regarding this. Mickjael said he would ship this over a month ago and nothing has come. No follow-up shipping information. They have stated that corporate was useless and they have no one else to work with. I've spoken to over 3 people at this property with no follow-up. It's also VERY loud. You can hear the horses carriages, yelling, and bar fights from your window. To check-in, there is only one location to pull your car up to which is always occupied. Avoid this place, it's absolutely pathetic.

When we drove up to valet, there was no-one there. So NO valet service even though the hotel offered this. Parking in that area is really challenging. No hot water, moved us to another room but then the shower handle didn't work so you couldn't regulate the temp of the water. Very hard to reach the front desk. They give you a 1800 text number for issues. Dirty dirty dirty. Don't waste your time or money.

I thought we had gotten a killer deal on this place. Check in went relatively smooth. Everything was emailed to me and ready to go. We took a step back and heard some people moving around in our room. They came to the door with a confused look. We informed them that they were in our room. They stated that they had been moved rooms because there’s wasn’t ready. When we talked to the front desk they had no idea people were in our room. This is a big safety concern having this happen.

It started off rocky… check in is at 4, you are supposed to get a link sent to you with codes and such. 4 came around and we never got a text with the link. We started calling the property a little after 4, we never got an answer and no call back. We showed up at the property around 5:15 pm. I went inside and nobody was at the desk. I continued to call but still no answer. Someone finally showed up at the desk like 15 min later. This place was excellent!! Very very clean very accommodatig fridge,stove,sink and microwave were a plus !! Staff was so sweet they greeted you everytime you entered or left the building ! Arrived early and I was able to check in. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. I had a bit of trouble with the code to the room and they were able to assist rather quickly. The room was beautiful and clean, super spacious. The only thing I will say is the hallway to the room is a little outdated and not as clean. Also, you can hear every noise going out on the street. The Riverwalk is less than 100 ft from the hotel. Super convenient location and close to everything! I was able to get complimentary late check out. I would definitely recommend this place!

This hotel was perfect! It is a historic building so, it isn’t as pristine as newer hotels, but it has lots of character. The room was clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The location was amazing. We were less than a block to the Riverwalk and a block to the Alamo. Parking at the Houston Street Garage was cheap and safe.

The Maverick with *placemaker* was an exceptionally well curated space. It was directly above Voodoo Donuts downtown and definitely had some great aesthetic. The studio room we rented was really nice and definitely well stocked with most things we needed. Cons: There was not an ice cube to be found in the building. The generation of emotional support stanley’s does not approve and neither do I! Ha. Breakfast/lounge/amenities could be a little better explained as well. Valet parking for the building is $42 for the stay but there’s a $10 flat rate garage within a block or two. Pros: It has AMAZING customer service and great aesthetic. It was a comfy place right in the middle of the bustle of downtown. The front desk lady made sure we didn’t mind a little noise before putting us toward the street and we actually enjoyed people watching out the windows. Included breakfast is in the form of a voucher for coffee and a taco at Revolucion coffee which was a pleasant local business! All in all, I would absolutely stay again once they got an ice machine in house 😂

The Maverick is a great spot that is a 1 minute walk to the River Walk. There are nightlife and dining options just a couple minute walk from the property as well. However, parking is a nightmare since the property uses a contract service for valet services. My family had a total of three cars and each car was treated differently. My ar was the last to leave and my husband and I waited 30 minutes to get our vehicle even though it was listed as number 1 in the queue. Public parking may be difficult to find if there is an event downtown. Additionally, the street noice in the evening includes loud mufflers and loud music coming from the vehicles. Each room is equipped with a sound machine which helps with sleeping but it does nothing if you are trying to have a conversation or watch TV. Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to Todd at the front desk. After a long drive from Houston, being totally unfamiliar with Texas and the States, as my wife and I are from the UK and were on our honeymoon - he went above and beyond for us, to rectify a slight room discrepancy we encountered on arrival. The booking options on the listing did not differentiate between a city view option vs a standard option. We had expected a city view based on the photos shown when selecting the room. Upon check in, we went to a 3rd floor room with an alley/fire escape view. He very swiftly addressed this with no hassle, moving us to a beautiful room with stunning views, and escalated the website listing to his team. He gave us some good local recommendations, and some complimentary vouchers for Voodoo doughnuts just next door! He made this an easy fix for us and made us feel so welcome. All the staff throughout our stay were great, and helped when in need. The room was well fitted and furnished, very new and clean. The property has great amenties, and a speakeasy style bar with live comedy downstairs! Very walkable with access to bars, restaurants, and to the SanAn River walk and Alamo. A great location and a lovely historic building - which has been modernised and newly fitted, whilst retaining its historic charm.
