Modern, walkable location in Estes Park for our first time there. Able to get to the main street, Lake Estes trail, and Aerial Tramway easily by foot or car. Loved the open lobby area, spacious cafe and bar, fire pit, hammocks, and heated pool amenities! The Chromecast TV was also a great plus for nighttime.

Pool not operable. No sign warning you it was closed. Busted cement in parking lot. No towels in room on check in. Fire pit not operable. Staff was good and doing their best but clearly should not have reopened this redone property so early.

Friendly staff, walkable into town, nice heated swimming pool. Lovely room. Little bit of a shame that the restaurant closes so early in the evening. But this seems par for the course outside US cities - but worth noting for international visitors.

Long delay in registering. Over 3 hrs. No ice machine availability for guests. You have to carry an ice bag to office personal who works. To then go to basement to get 1/2 bag of ice for you. Then the Restaurant onsite. Claimed to be open 7a to 8p. NOT THE CASE. One evening, we had been sitting in hotel's back porch area off the Restaurant, enjoying the surroundings. Planning on grabing a quick snack before they closed at 8. At 7:10 with a large table beginning to order. I went to bar to place an order. Was told they were closed and could NOT place an order. This happened on 2 of the 4 days we were there. Soo .. not cool. Nice place. Please fix small issues. Restaurant on property

Pool was brown. People were making noise at all hours of the day and night. Front desk didn’t know how to bill a bottled water to the room. Food at the restaurant wasn’t good. It felt like a crappy motel that someone renovated with Home Depot supplies.

Rocky Mountain trailborn was the perfect place for us in Estes Park Colorado. We were there to visit Rocky Mountain National Park and it was very easy to get to the park from Trailborn. There is a nostalgic feel to Trailborn since it was once a roadside motel that has been renovated in the best possible way. There is a restaurant and bar onsite that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. S'mores are available at night to toast by the fire. note that things close up early ( by 8:00 PM ) here, even the bar.

We tried to check-in at 4:05pm, They said the room wasn’t ready & probably wouldn’t be ready for another 1.5-2 hours. They said they’d call/text us when it was ready (they didn’t). When we finally got in the room, it had a dirty shower with crud on the shower wall and mold on the shower curtain, cobwebs in the window. We immediately asked for a new shower curtain, but they had no spare shower curtains & they said they would get maintenance to address it but they had already left for the day. We finally got a replacement shower curtain on the last night of our 4 night stay, but they just dropped it off. I had to take down the moldy one & put the clean one up myself. The sofa in the room had multiple mystery stains so we never put anything on it or sat on it. Housekeeping was very inconsistent. They made the bed 2 of the days we stayed, left some fresh towels 1 day (but not any wash cloths - they were out), and they took the trash out 1 day. One morning, they had coffee out in the lobby, but I had to go to the other location down the street for the “complimentary grab & go breakfast”. It was just yogurt & muffins, so don’t bother with that if you do have the misfortune to stay here. We also heard them tell another group of guests they were running low on room keys & several of the rooms have broken AC with the temporary window units visible in the windows. A lot of noise from other rooms & the road. I would absolutely discourage anyone from staying here.

There were gnats in our room, lots of them. There was also a plunger left just outside our door partially in a bag throughout our stay. I was a little disappointed as this looked different in person, the lobby is accurate, but this is a motel. Clearly older and renovated, but I expected it to be nicer given the pictures. The room was large, beds were good.

The property is infested with pigeons and pigeon guano (poop) which is highly hazardous and unhealthy. They were constantly on the stairs and roof outside our rooms. I noted to front desk and also send in an email but have not received any response. Recommend avoiding the property.

This hotel used to be a run down motel. They have being doing a remodel and the work they have done is outstanding and now it borders on being one of the best in town. My wife and I along with my service dog were welcomed warmly and were provided with excellent service, and a very clean and comfortable room. The restaurant on site had a nice breakfast. Safe, nice place. High marks all the way around.

Attended a wedding this weekend. Trailborn is centrally located, and has a night staffer who was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Free nut snacks available at the front desk at both Trailborn locations. Our room needed the door to be better sealed in order to minimize gnats in the room and other insects from coming through the door openings. Room floor also wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival. Slippers or socks are a must to be worn in the room but beware, they will be black from the unclean floor. There are thin walls so you will hear your neighbors. Overall, was a decent stay.

My stay was extremely disappointing. I found the room to be in an unacceptable condition. It was dirty and, even more disturbing, infested with bugs. This was not only disgusting but also completely unacceptable for any hotel. I went to the front desk at 7am to let them know that the weather stripping was completely off on our door resulting in many bugs in our room. I requested that to be fixed and for the room to be thoroughly cleaned. There were multiple spiderwebs and spiders, along with other bugs throughout the room. I woke up to spiders crawling on the bed which is completely unacceptable. There were spider webs beside the nightstand, behind the bed, behind the chair with spiders and other bugs. The room clearly hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. When I came back 9 hours later and expecting the room to be cleaned, it wasn’t. Then a guy entered the room to take out the garbage (again not clean the room). I explained the situation and requested to speak to a manager that day, I provided my phone number and requested she stop by the room to discuss the situation, she never did. I called the hotel 3 times and left my contact information to speak to the manager and she never called me back and never stopped by my room. I stopped by the front desk and left my phone number. The man working assured me that the manager would call me back to address the situation. She never did. Further, he said he could provide a $50 discount and that the manager would call me to discuss further.

This property is basically a Motel 6 that had a minor facelift. The owners fancied up the lobby area but they didn’t do much to the rooms, they are small but adequate if you’re spending most of your time outdoors. We had a clogged sink and shower and although the shower was remedied by the front desk clerk by removing the “hair catcher” basket below the drain grate (gross), the sink remained clogged for the entire week. During our stay they appeared short staffed; do not bother calling the front desk, nobody answers. You could hear every footstep and movement from the room above ours; very annoying. Apparently this is known by the property staff as there are complimentary ear plugs next to your bed upon arrival. Despite some property degradation issues, the room was clean and the location is within walking distance to the city center. For a $200/night price point I just expected a little more.

There were no glasses, only single use paper coffee cups. The bathroom was woefully small, with no shelving and very limited counter space for toiletries. Bring "cubes" for your clothing as there is no drawer space in the room, only shelving. There was bench seating in the room, but no table of any sort (or chairs). The good: Great lighting in the room and in the bathroom and nice pillows if you like a firmer pillow. The bad: Soft bed, paper thin walls, a heating and a/c unit that was impossible to operate/change, a TV set to the wrong date and because of this, lacking the program guide (a nit). At between $200 to almost $500 per night and given its classification as an "Upscale hotel", we expected more.

The room was lovely, easy walk to town centre. The bed was comfy. Only small complaint was that the sound proofing between rooms is quite poor so if you’re susceptible to noise perhaps ask for a top floor room.

Clean, minimalist rooms and the staff is friendly. Location to downtown Estes is terrific. Shower didn’t drain and the water pressure was miserable. AC/heat never kicked on and was indecipherable, honestly. Worst part was the noise: the walls are unbelievably thin: you will hear everything above and around you. If you want to sleep in past 5am or just get a good nights rest, do not stay here. Even with AirPods in all night, I was awakened by talking, snoring, toilets flushing, and stomping (probably just walking!) above and around me. If not for the sound issue, I would strongly recommend this place. As such, I won’t be returning.

We found the Trailborn a little rough around the edges, without any comfortable place to sit in our room. We couldn't change the temperature. I'm sure a phone call to the desk would have resolved it, but we wanted to get to bed. Too cold for a shower, so after a good nights sleep we headed out early.

Cute updated motel. Modern room. Lots of amenities. I like the fire pit. Kind of a small, tight bathroom but it was fine. My main gripe was the thermostat. It’s a modern touchscreen but comes with rules on what to do and what not to do. Even though it’s the summer, the room was a bit chilly at night. I couldn’t find anyway to turn on the heat. It was stuck on cool (set for the summer?) with no way to change it to heat. And the best I could do was turn the cool off. So the room stayed at like 69. I typically like a warmer room and guests should have the ability to turn on heat if they so choose to, not just the ability to turn the a/c off.

Nice property overall, but the air conditioning did not work and when I called the front desk she said it was too late to adjust as it had to be done with all the rooms on the same floor?! Also our door was super loud and heavy - every time we opened or left it was make a ridiculous sound slamming.

Stayed 2 nights at The Trailborn Rocky Mountains Hotel in Estes Park and honestly, it's got a lot going for it. The place looks amazing after its makeover—modern and stylish, especially the lobby and restaurant area. My room was on point: clean, comfy king bed, and even though it's right by the highway, getting to all the cool spots in Estes was a breeze. But here’s the thing—because it’s an old 2-story roadside motel turned hotel, the noise from upstairs can be a bit much if you're staying on the first floor. I mentioned it to the folks at the front desk, and they were super nice about it, but there wasn’t much they could do.I’d lean towards a 4.5-star rating for its style, cleanliness, and vibe, but with the noise issue, I give it 3 stars. I liked the place a lot, and next time, I’ll opt for a room on the second floor to skip the noise (although the only bummer is that there are no king-bed rooms on the second floor).

After receiving multiple messages from the hotel via text and email leading up to our stay, I was shocked to show up to check in and learn the hotel had been overbooked and we couldn't stay at our reservation. While I'm really grateful that they took the time to transfer our booking to a neighboring property, I'm confused why no one took the time to let us know before we showed up, especially after we did the online check-in that morning. I don't know if the miscommunication on the overbook was the property's fault or Hotels.com's fault, but definitely wasn't how you want to start a stay anywhere.

The overall property is wonderful, but we were extremely disappointed in the customer service when the air conditioning was not working during our entire stay. We were promised a 20% discount if we kept our booking after we found out on our own without the hotel being forthcoming that air conditioning was broken. We were also assured that it would be fixed within two days of our five days day. We were promised several different things and none of them came through. The air conditioning was broken. The entire stay, and the hotel will not respond to our request for a refund from our Expedia booking.

Unfortunately the check in experience on Friday night really put a damper on our stay. We showed up with a four-year-old and a two-year-old, ready to settle in and get ready for the glow parade. Unfortunately, our room was not ready, and there was not really a proactive approach to finding out when it would be or if it would be which is not a great response when you are traveling with two little kids, do not know if you’re even going to have a room that night. We were unsure if we needed to drive home and waste our money on our dog boarding or if we were to stay and wait for our room. The front desk staff was clearly overwhelmed, even disappeared in the office for a while while the line grew and my frustrations grew. I feel like management should coach staff on dealing with these situations we were told the room was not ready because of housekeeping shortages and it was not ready until after 7 PM when guaranteed for 4 PM check-in. We were told to “just got have a long dinner” and came back at 5:30 and there were still no updates. Room was finally ready after 7. I’m more upset that this was stressful on us and our kids and the staff didn’t seem to proactively try to handle the situation and was not very apologetic or empathetic.

Never in my life been to a hotel with such thin walls - SO LOUD all night. Restaurant was not good and gave us very cold food. Service was so poor - the front desk girl abandoned her post for about an hour in the midst of check-in time and the guys at the bar right by the check-in didn’t step in to help patrons. Awful! Would never come here again.

It caters to those seeking a comfortable base camp for adventures in the Rockies and in town My wife and I imagined the lobby 70 years ago was filled with people in flannel shirts and khakis planning their day hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park. Today, its a fun mix of families and couples seeking some much needed connection with nature. Gripes are few. Shower water pressure could be better but it’s a minor complaint. Food and drinks were great and there are plenty of places to hang out on the patio to relax after a day of hiking, sight seeing, dining, and shopping.

I do not recommend this place. We arrived at Trailborn Rocky Mountains around 11 p.m. When we got to our room, I noticed that the bedding looked like someone had already slept there, even though it was made. So I pulled back the covers and discovered that the bedding was NOT clean. It was very obviously used by the previous guests, and there was blood on the sheets. We also noticed that the room smelled of sewage and the AC was not working. We notified the front desk, and they moved us to another room that also had no working AC. They then decided to move us back to the first room and brought us clean sheets. We decided to leave immediately and went to another hotel due to the smell and lack of air conditioning... We were told by a staff member that the units are shared between guest rooms—so if your neighbor wants the AC on 78 and you want it on 66, the air won’t turn on for your bedroom. The manager was informed of the situation and never attempted to call us to make things right, but Expedia did on our behalf. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Rocky Mountain trailborn was the perfect place for us in Estes Park Colorado. We were there to visit Rocky Mountain National Park and it was very easy to get to the park from Trailborn. There is a nostalgic feel to Trailborn since it was once a roadside motel that has been renovated in the best possible way. There is a restaurant and bar onsite that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. S'mores are available at night to toast by the fire. note that things close up early ( by 8:00 PM ) here, even the bar.

Long delay in registering. Over 3 hrs. No ice machine availability for guests. You have to carry an ice bag to office personal who works. To then go to basement to get 1/2 bag of ice for you. Then the Restaurant onsite. Claimed to be open 7a to 8p. NOT THE CASE. One evening, we had been sitting in hotel's back porch area off the Restaurant, enjoying the surroundings. Planning on grabing a quick snack before they closed at 8. At 7:10 with a large table beginning to order. I went to bar to place an order. Was told they were closed and could NOT place an order. This happened on 2 of the 4 days we were there. Soo .. not cool. Nice place. Please fix small issues. Restaurant on property

Pool was brown. People were making noise at all hours of the day and night. Front desk didn’t know how to bill a bottled water to the room. Food at the restaurant wasn’t good. It felt like a crappy motel that someone renovated with Home Depot supplies.

Would rate this as a 3.5 star motel. Food at restaurant was excellent. Portions a little small, but quality made up for it. Friendly staff, comfortable beds. Check out the fire pit and ask for your s’more kit at front desk. Just opened and newly renovated. Pet friendly. Close proximity to RMNP.

The staff was so friendly. The food was delicious and we ate outside and listened to the live music. There was a fire and smores and they made fantastic margaritas. The rooms were clean amd comfortable. We would def return.

Have stayed here twice now, both visits were enjoyable. The rooms have everything you need and nothing you don’t. Simple, safe, good location. And elk can be found roaming the grounds!

The lodge is a bit dated, but it kind of added to the rustic charm. I would recommend getting a 2nd level room as I could hear every footstep from my neighbors above. The food was surprisingly good, and they had a nice selection of brews on tap. The location is superb with easy access to the main roads and very walkable to downtown. The staff was great, particularly the young bartender, Conner, who was quite the character and made the stay entertaining.

Our room had a non-working a/c unit. The front desk said they would have someone look at it the next day. We went back to the front desk and asked if someone would look at it and they said they were aware. It was not fixed. Additionally, the toilet paper holder was missing and there was a septic truck in front pumping something from the ground for which the smell traveled into our room, since we had to leave the windows open due to the a/c. On the plus side the location to the town was great and the bed was won of the most comfortable I have had in a hotel.
