The hotel is a little dated and the common areas could use some upgrading. It also would help if the restaurant were open. The pool area, however, is excellent with both an indoor area and an outdoor area. The staff was courteous and helpful.

The Native American art in the lobby is impressive and the concept of a hotel decorated by local artists is great but overall, the hotel was disappointing. It is rundown and in need of a major overhaul. The only chair in the room was so worn and stained we didn't sit in it. The AC unit worked well enough but was very noisy and the rickety elevator was broken on the day we checked out so we had to haul all our luggage down the stairs.

We love this hotel. The artist rooms are so beautiful, this was the 3rd artist room we have stayed in, also had a view of the mountains. Clean, quiet, comfortable, everyone working there is so nice and helpful. We were offered 2 drinks at check-in. Restaurant & bar are available, we did not eat there due to other plans. Saturday night a live band was playing. The pool & hot tub are awesome. Our favorite place to stay in ABQ.

We love this hotel. The artist rooms are so beautiful, this was the 3rd artist room we have stayed in, also had a view of the mountains. Love the hotel and atmosphere, hot tub and pool maintenance is sub par. Hot tub was being filled at 6 pm which diluted the hot water. It went from 99 to 93 and the jets shoot straight up looting water on the floor and out of the tub. With the pool was heated.

Property didn’t reflect photos. Dated, musty ghost town. Wasn’t horrible enough for us to go somewhere else. Thought we got a great deal on a decent, lively accommodation but I guess got what we paid for. Not sure why I paid an amenity fee for two cheap beers from the front desk; said parking was included but parking didn’t seem to be an exclusive thing that warranted a fee. Bar wasn’t open, hotel was dark and empty. Staff was nice enough. Room was alright. Bed was fine. Shower was awful and carpet surrounding the bathroom was water stained and gross. Seemed like the carpet everywhere was in need of replacement anyway.

I had been driving all day and pulled over to book this hotel after seeing the picture of the pool and hot tub. Pulled back onto the freeway and received a text thanking me for booking a room with Nativo and informing me that the pool was closed. I texted back inquiring if the hot tub was open. They answered no and apologized for the inconvenience. I told them I would not have booked their hotel had I known the pool and hot tub were closed. They said they would compensate me during the stay. I tried to cancel the reservation on Expedia but it was a same day reservation and could not. When I arrived, the front desk person offered me another hotel to use their pool and hot tub. I got in the car to drive there and navigation said it was a 30 minute drive probably due to rush hour or construction. Ugh- I’d been driving all day. I did enjoy the hot tub at Hotel Albuquerque then drove back to Nativo. Had dinner at their Mexican restaurant which was very good. The service was great -there were only two customers in the restaurant. Free dessert which was nice. Went to the room to watch TV - the remote control did not work to turn the TV on. However I could change channels once I turned the TV on. I fell asleep and at midnight an alarm clock in the room went off. Housekeeping should check things like that. As for compensation during my stay I’m not sure what that was- the neighboring hotel pool, the free dessert, or the “complimentary” wake up call at midnight. 😉

The common areas are not clean; carpeting should be replaced. Elevator door looked as if someone had hit it.When I finally was given a room, the carpeting smelled like urine--very strong. The front desk said none of the phones in the rooms could receive calls from the front desk. I immediately left for another hotel. This place is in terrible shape.

The staff was very friendly. The stay was great except the carpet in the room was nasty. They allow pets which is great but you can smell the pet urine in the rooms. Since they are so pet friendly they should probably update their flooring

It was horrible! The tub was not cleaned; the bed had hairs from the previous people, and even some black scuff marks from something. Also the carpets had stains all over them. I’ve never been in a hotel so filthy, worst hotel I’ve stayed at in my life thus far. NEVER AGAIN. Previous stay had eyelashes they left there, the smoke detectors were unplugged, just HORRIBLE

Location was pretty good, there was plenty of parking in front of the hotel, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The bartender that served us was AMAZING and was the best part of the experience here. That being said, we arrived an hour early and were told the room was not ready yet. Totally fine, we went and shopped around and returned 15 minutes after our sign in time. Room was still not ready, but the front desk employee told us it would be ready in 20-30 minutes, and that he would give me a call when it was ready. Fine whatever, we will go sit at the bar for awhile. A little over 2 hours after we were supposed to check in, I leave the bar to check if the room is ready since I received no call. Still not ready. Okay fine, they offer us a different room and a $30 discount (I booked a mountain view room originally). The view from the random room they gave us wasn’t bad, but the curtains were full of cigarette burns and the blanket we slept on had what looked like mold on it. I could have gotten the cheapest motel in the city and at least had a dirty room available on time! I’m not the pickiest person when it comes to hotels or lodging but even cheaper options I expect the room to ready RELATIVELY close to the sign in time. We didn’t get into our room until after 6 which really screwed up our plans in ABQ and we were only staying one night. If it were not for the chill bar and friendly bartender I would have very few positives to share.

I had to pay the resort fee on Expedia and when I checked in, I had to pay the resort fee again. So where does the resort fee go that was paid to Expedia. Nativo Lodge has definite character. Our room had kids next door who were really loud - we asked to be moved and were accommodated immediately. The front desk service was great. When we called for an extended checkout last minute there was no issue whatsoever. Appreciated the friendly service and how quick and accommodating they were for any issues we ran into.

I check in and the girl aleese charged my card for the entire reservation, after explaining it will only be 70 dollars for ammenities. I asked what amenities a closed bar? A closed restaurant? She said thats for the 2 free beers you get per night. I will never stay there again

I was treated very great at check-in. But when checking out, I waited at the front desk for 15 minutes or so in order to check out. Not sure what happened but other than that, the stay at this hotel was excellent!

This was a very nice experience overall. Good location as we were at the sandia tramway earlier. Very clean room and comfortable beds. We stayed in the "artist" room and had a nice view of the city. What really made it the stay even better was the welcoming and very hospitable front desk agent Rachel, she was so awesome!

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room faced the road/freeway and was noisy all night long, very little soundproofing thru all the glass windows/patio door. However we travelled with friends who stayed on the opposite side and said it was very quiet. If you stay there request a backside room if you want to sleep.

The property smelled like mold and had fans blowing over the carpet. Our key cards didn’t work and we had to go downstairs multiple times to get it fixed. Someone had to come open our door with a tool. Someone stopped us in the parking lot asking for money. Very sketchy.

The decoration and indigenous artwork makes for a very different experience compared to standard "suite" motels. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The location in the north valley is especially good and San Mateo has almost anything a traveler might want in terms of food and services. If you can get a view of the mountains, the balconies offer something special in terms of enjoying the Sandias.

Gardunos is definitely a plus. The indoor outdoor pool is also very nice with a great hot tub. We will definitely be returning.

First off, this property was really clean-pool area, rooms, lobby was gorgeous, BUT it is showing some wear and tear from age. GM told me he was in the process of ripping out old carpet and putting in wood floors- much needed! Bartender was super nice! Restaurant was good. Pool was nice. Beds are super comfy! You get a choice of 4 different craft beers per person, per day for free(kind of- you do pay a resort fee of $20.00 per day). The Mexican beer was good! My suggestions: *Put a trash can in the bathroom-yes there is one under the sink but you need one in the bathroom. *Softer and bigger towels *PUT A BLOW DRYER IN ROOMS :( room service did bring me one but it was hours later. *Chairs on balcony *more lounge chairs by pool- 4 for a property of this size is not enough. *you really need some dining options for breakfast/lunch- there is literally nothing-not even a little store. Restaurant does not one until 4pm. I would stay again- just a few simple upgrades and this would be a really nice place.

The hotel itself was pretty cool with a nice lobby. The location of the hotel was also convenient. One of the reasons we booked the place was a hot tub, which was unfortunately closed. I thought the rooms were clean. It was apparently the second night that the restaurant was open again, which was convenient. However, the food was horrible, I would recommend venturing outside of the hotel. As others had mentioned before, the shower water temp varies greatly, going from warm to scalding hot.

Our stay was very positive. The staff is amazing. They are nice and attentive. I would definitely stay here again. It's not a big cooperation hotel. It feels homey and they let us have a late check out time. The pool area is half indoor and half outdoor with the hot tub being on the indoor side. I highly recommend. They offer you a drink at check in, also. They have a new Gardunos that just opened and the food was amazing. The server was amazing also. It's a new restaurant so give them grace while they work out the kinks.

The young man that checked us in was awesome! The room we had didn’t have chairs like the picture had. I mean none. The restaurant was closed and so was the pool. Two things I look for. It was very noisy. I was on the third floor and heard a guy sneeze in the parking lot. A lot of traffic but they can’t help that.

This is an older hotel that has had some really beautiful Native art added to the outside, the gorgeous lobby and all of the rooms are unique. We LOVED the art. Having said that, the bathroom vanity is tiny, the beds were only full size in our room (which was a little cramped), and the hotel infrastructure is a little dated (no USB chargers, for example), but clean. The indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, and outdoor teepee are absolutely lovely. The restaurant was dead, but food was ok. The bar was out of all wine and several of the drinks on the menu (we were told the Balloon Fiesta wiped out their inventory). It was very convenient to Balloon Fiesta Park and walking distance to several restaurants, a Starbucks and a gas station. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One word of caution for those staying in a double bed room, we had assumed we could get a rollaway bed for a young child in addition to our two couples, but they couldn't give us one because it is a fire safety hazard, so we ended up having to rent an additional room. Overall, would stay again. Good value for the price.
