The Mallard Hotel & Suites

Room door beat up. Room lock code not working had to call to get lock box key which was hatd to reach for elderly ppl and impossible to see numbers at night. Table that flips down broke on unlatching it. Maintenance guy was suppose to fix next day but nope not fixed plus he wanted to leave our door unlocked while we were gone. The ice machine was broken and when working they charge for it. Soda machine out of order too. No cups for coffee just a lot of disappointed gals.

We had a horrible experience at this “hotel”. Not because we had horrible customer service, because everything was virtual so no human interaction. The issue was the overall condition of the room and building. First, there was no strike plate on the door, so the door did not close tight. There was a significant gap between the door and the floor making it easy for insects and whatever else to get in. This was evident by all the dead bugs that were on the floor. Second, the window treatments were partially falling down on one side. Because there wasn’t a window shade along with the curtains, tons of light came through. There was a light outside our window that was on all night, so it felt like it was day time all night long. I think I got maybe 3 hours of sleep. Third, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It felt like it had no support. Fourth, the toilet was not secured to the floor. Not safe at all. Fifth, the outside was extremely dilapidated. The stairs are crumbling, the one elevator was not working and there were exposed power lines hanging from the ceiling outside. Sixth, 25 cents for ice, really? I have never seen an ice “vending” machine before. The only upside was the decor in the room, but that was overshadowed by all the other things. Don’t trust the photos on their site. This place is a s**thole. I should have left and demanded a refund as soon as I got there, but I was exhausted after driving 3 hours.

Disappointed big time, it looked and was nothing like the listing on hotels.com. Room had a horrible smell due to swamp cooler ac unit. TV Remote broken also. Just very disappointing and it was located in a remote area of town, with no front desk and self-check in made the whole experience even more sketchy. Felt like an abandoned motel 6, that they slapped some new paint on to reopen for business. Would like a refund.

Room was great. But outside if hotel needs some tender loving care. Key code would not work after several attempts customer service got us another room. Bed was comfy and room was clean

Our room look decent when we checked in our room, but then we found lots of hair in the sheets. Our shower looked a little dirty. There was meldew on the shower curtain and hair on the towels and in the drain. Theres no front desk, so you cant report anything or request for new sheets. The outdoor firepit was a nice place to hangout before we went to bed.

This was a nice, clean and comfy! We enjoyed the fire pit area. The bed was very comfortable.

The room was very nice. the room was very clean. However there were no creamers in the room. Do not fall for the free breakfast. It was a joke. Few honeybuns few chocolate muffins and no coffee cups or creamer again. Also You have to pay for the ice so make sure you bring in cash with you and coins.

Great pet friendly property with very clean and well maintained rooms. The outside of the motel can use a little paint. Easy check-in!

We took one look at the room and the hotel and decided not to stay. It looked unsafe, not very clean and lobby wasn't finished. No one was on property to help us so we forfeited our money and left. The pictures on the internet made it look much nicer than it is.

The property was very nice on welcoming our pup. However the pictures were very deceiving. The place reeked of cigarette smoke. The walls in the bathroom were absolutely disgusting. Had we not needed somewhere to crash after driving all day and leaving the very next morning we definitely would not have stayed.

Kind of "motel" looking on the outside, but dont judge a book by its cover!! The room was super clean and cozy and had everything we needed! Highly highly recommend. We\'ll definitely be staying again if we\'re around the area.

The Mallard Hotel was bad , I had a room booked for over a week on the first floor , when I arrived the room I booked was occupied , no one works their on site , everything is operated by someone in a another country by phone . I got another room . The TV had no remote , I called them back and they told me to go to another room and get the TV remote out of that room , could not get in the room with the code he gave me on the phone , so I went back to the room he gave me and took a shower , when I walk back to the bed , my feet were black on the bottom from the dirty floor . I used a wash cloth to wash the bottom of my feet , before I got in the bed which was like a bag of rags , I could write a book on the Mallard Hotel which would be a horrow story , This stay was like a bad dream .

Comfy and clean

Loved the hotel! Everything was clean and so nice!

Long black hair on bathroom sink. Small puddle of water on floor i. Bathroom. I cleaned jp with TP, floor was dirty. Also cleaned two other areas on floor...both dirty, one black. Table top brown papertowel when cleaned. Inside top of microwave was not clean either. Plastic ware was in bad shape and only 3 pieces of eating utensils. We couldn't get a neighboring room.. because lock box didn't work and no one was available on site to assist with either the other room or a reclean. We did not stay.

Very good location for a one night stay on a longer drive. The hotel itself has been updated and the rooms are nice generally. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the building has a beautiful view of the mountains. Will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Pros: Convenient location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, newer amenities in rooms, recently remodeled. Cons: Not a real breakfast, more like a few packaged snacks, walls are thin, television service/wi-fi was poor, low signal.

the room was great. clean and comfortable. the only issue was the thin walls so the dogs barking was annoying. also the room randomly smelled like cigarette smoke so i did not like that. especially because we had a no smoking room and all the rooms around us were no smoking. the smell was coming through the air vents. not a fan of that. but overall it was a decent experience

The place was nice but the location is too isolated. Code for the door didn't work & no remote. Replacement room lock was busted. Someone was supposed to fix it next morning but never showed up. Sink & shower clogged also..👎👎

If you have heard the old saying "don't judge a book by its cover" this place is what it refers to. From the outside you would almost think the property is shut down, however when you open your room it is beautiful. And checking in couldn’t be easier, it is like a VRBO.

No TV working. Went and bought some new batteries and also tried remote from friends room with no luck. First room didn’t work. Bathroom and all floors turned everyone’s socks black in 2nd room. Toilet rocking. Tub dirty. Didn’t expect a lot, but this wasn’t near what it could have been with a little maintenance.

Don’t judge a book by its cover this hotel is quite nice they have been renovating the rooms and the staff is awesome the lady who takes care of everything her name is Dee not sure of the spelling but she is awesome help us with many things. Thanks

The hotel was nice. The grab and go breakfast isn’t much and if you don’t get there really early, the workers staying there take most of it. They were quick to answer text messages as no one is actually on site. We will definitely stay there again.

I liked the appearance of the remodel. It was all very comfortable. The bed was excellent, the shower was more than excellent and overall it was a very good 3 day stay while I visited family. I will be back I did not like the check-in without a face. I am very tech challenged and was very uncomfortable trying to check in by phone, especially after our call got cut off. Thankfully the lady on the other end called right back and worked with me, taking me to 3 different rooms before getting me settled. Neither the lock boxes nor the touch pads would work for me but the 3rd touch pad did did. O was beginning to feel a little distraught that maybe I would not be able to check in and then what? She was very kind and patient with an old man who does not have a smart phone. I did not want to give such a low eval on my check-in but I have to be honest. I would have given the lowest mark but the kind lady brought it up.

No breakfast as advertised, nothing worked in the room. No Television, no hair dryer. No employees on the property at all. Stayed 3 days during our mission trip and NEVER found an employee of any kind. Never again

The room was clean. We had a little trouble with the key pad but the staff quickly resolved our problem.

Very nice interior, staff was great. Had a family next door to us and since we're leaving early, called and asked to switch rooms did so in minutes and resolved the issue without any fuss.

Was easy to get to McCaysville and Copperhill

Cute & clean. Definitely have their guests in mind. Right next door to a locals breakfast/lunch restaurant.

For an outdoor adventure weekend, it was PERFECT!

Great remodel. Will stay again but if you advertise free “breakfast” make it a breakfast, not a few loose snacks, instant oatmeal and water.

No staff on-site, what breakfast. They have started remodeling but throwing on a little paint does not cover the damage.

It was a self serving property. You had to get your own extra towels and other items. The area where the items were supposed to be was never stocked. We had to buy some extra towels from the dollar tree. The grab and go breakfast was very limited. It was granola bars and apples and oranges as the only options. Overall the place was very nice there were just a few things that may make me not want to stay here again.

decor was very pretty. Need better breakfast, and new washcloths, those there now are rough!
