The cottage is amazing!! The owners did a fantastic job restoring it, and we really enjoyed our week there. Our favorite part was the screened in porch and the openess of the living and kitchen. They have everything you need for it being a historical site. We would definitely recommend staying here, and would stay again if we are in the area.

Just a charming little cottage. As soon as you open the door it welcomes you in. Even our bichon immediately felt at home. It’s CLEAN, with thoughtful small touches throughout. Nice little screened in porch with rocking chairs. And, Lake Murray is nearby. We would certainly stay again! 🐾

The cottage is not remote, but feels very private. The layout of the cottage was perfect for us: a family of 4 with grown kids. we had a lovely dinner on the porch. Check in and out was smooth as silk!

We were visiting family for the holidays in the area this sweet little cottage ended up being with 10 minutes of everyone. Though it sits adjacent to the owners' home, it felt private with a nice screened in porch facing the woods. This will be our go to place for visits to family in the future. Great communication with owners when needed.

This was an excellent stay. Very spacious and great sleeping areas for a small cottage! We loved the screened in porch for dinner! Kitchen had everything we needed. We all commented how comfy the bedding was and loved having all the extra towels

We visited the cottage with our 7 year old son and dog and loved it! The screened in porch was so nice and we spent a lot of time out there. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was very clean. Definitely bring bug spray if you plan to be outdoors much. The host was also very responsive to texting throughout our trip which i appreciated.

This is our second time staying at the Selwood Cottage and it won’t be our last. We travel a lot for work and this is exactly the type of place we wish was in every city we visit! Beautiful safe neighborhood, good location, clean, king bed, easy check-in, plenty of towels and blankets, lights left on for us, dog friendly, enough parking for our truck and trailer, and affordable!! Thank you for having us again! We’ll be back in September.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Selwood Cottage in Columbia, SC! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with stunning scenery and a pristine, well-maintained property. The cottage was immaculately clean and cozy and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Kristen, the host, was fantastic—her communication was prompt and helpful throughout our visit. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, even leaving thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The peaceful surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and are incredibly grateful for Kristen's hospitality. Exceptionally clean and wonderfully cozy! There were so many little niceties! The neighbor felt safe. The tv in the living room let me log in to my favorite apps. My children loved having their own area upstairs in the loft, and I was happy with the bed... very comfortable!

The cottage was everything we hoped for and more!! Beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed and linens, plenty of space for us and a screened porch. We had everything we needed for our stay and it was close to the lake and some parks. Checkin and out was very easy, there were coffee pads and creamer for the keurig and plenty of dishes and cups, towels etc. Communication with the owners was easy and our only regret was we couldn’t stay longer!! Highly recommend this adorable cottage!

We enjoyed the central location in Irmo - the king bed was super comfortable. Just as an FYI (and did not impact our stay whatsoever) the shower is on the small size! If you are a larger person, you’ll struggle to turn around lol.

This home is so much prettier inside than the listing photos show. It is a gorgeous restored home and it’s clear the owners have gone to lengths to decorate it suitably and add thoughtful touches. We only stayed here two nights, but we hope it’s available when we come back to the area next. If you’re staying in the Lexington/ Lake Murray area, it’s only a short drive away and secluded on a beautiful property. Highly recommend.

This is a cute nice cottage. The host was so polite and kind. The house is stocked with anything you may need and the neighborhood is very nice. The only con I have is you can literally hear everything from every room, so no privacy.

Came to the area to attend our grandson’s wedding. We found the cottage to be as represented in the photos. Nice space. Comfortable living area, though there is no table inside to sit down at and eat a meal. We used the screened-in porch, but there is a lot of road noise from behind the cottage. You don’t hear it inside, thank goodness! What you do hear is some old fire truck (maybe used as a food truck?) coming and going from behind the cottage early in the morning and at other times. Nothing was communicated about that in advance; it would have been helpful to know. Bed in master was comfy and the ceiling fan and air conditioning in the unit were big positives. The big negatives for us were the very short toilet in the downstairs bath (our knees were practically up to our chin), and the very cramped, low-ceiling shower. We are by no means tall people (~5’9”) but we are older and have arthritic knees. It was so difficult to maneuver that toilet that we found we would look for a Starbucks whenever we could to avoid the hassle at the cottage. The shower situation is a matter of the building itself—we don’t know how a bigger, taller shower would even fit in the space—but it’s just nice to know these things in advance so they don’t come as a shock.

This property is a beautiful little house rather like a large tiny house. It has an upstairs loft with two comfortable twins and a room downstairs with a soft king bed. The sheets and towels are very soft, with lots of extras, and the property is very clean. I travelled with another female coworker and felt that the property was safe. It has rustic charm but with all the modern amenities that any traveller could want. If I’m in Columbia again, I will defiiitely stay here again!

We definitely enjoyed our stay! It was a cute place and certainly tucked away. It is on the owners lot so you don’t really have the “place to yourself” but the cottage is your own. The owner has a house next to it and an airstream out back with guests as well. The cottage itself is nice and it certainly is “historic”. The floors are probably original which is great, but they are VERY loud. We have a 6 year old who we lay down around 7:00 and then my wife and I stay up till around 10:30. We could barely walk 2 steps without the floor giving out a loud CREAKKKK! Then he would wake up and be like “what was that!?” So I do not recommend this place if that would be your situation. Also there is no dining room table. So there is no where to sit inside to have dinner with your family or friends. There is only a couch to sit on. Outside on the porch there is a small table with 4 very old chairs to sit at. Also the two two twin beds upstairs are not very comfortable. They are VERY springy and can feel it as you sleep. Hopefully owner sees this and maybe buys a new box spring / mattress for those beds upstairs. However…. The master bed was SOOO comfortable. If they could match the comfort of the beds upstairs with the comfort of the ned downstairs that would be AMAZING! Also there is no dishwasher (which we knew) , but would’ve been nice since we had some meals there as well. Appliances are a bit outdated and there is ONLY a keurig and not an actual full coffee maker. Hope this helps!

We enjoyed the perfect weekend getaway at the Selwood Cottage. The property is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, and the building itself has been repurposed beautifully - loved the wooden floors and ceiling beams! The cottage has a full kitchen, including plates, mugs, utensils, so we enjoyed heating up a meal and brewing a hot cup of coffee. Kristen was extremely communicative before, during, and after our stay - a very gracious host. This was a wonderful, relaxing stay that I would 100% recommend.

We visited the cottage with our 7 year old son and dog and loved it! The screened in porch was so nice and we spent a lot of time out there. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was very clean. Definitely bring bug spray if you plan to be outdoors much. The host was also very responsive to texting throughout our trip which i appreciated.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Selwood Cottage in Columbia, SC! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with stunning scenery and a pristine, well-maintained property. The cottage was immaculately clean and cozy and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Kristen, the host, was fantastic—her communication was prompt and helpful throughout our visit. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, even leaving thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. My kiddos loved this experience. While the weather did not cooperate with our stay, the cottage was lovely. Cozy with lovely decor, comfy bed, and the host was very communicative. Highly recommend. If we visit the area again, we would definitely stay here a second time!

This home is so much prettier inside than the listing photos show. It is a gorgeous restored home and it’s clear the owners have gone to lengths to decorate it suitably and add thoughtful touches. We only stayed here two nights, but we hope it’s available when we come back to the area next. If you’re staying in the Lexington/ Lake Murray area, it’s only a short drive away and secluded on a beautiful property. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely experience. Great quiet neighborhood. The cottage is on the property as the owner, but it is private with its own driveway. We enjoyed breakfast on the screened porch. It was just as described and very clean. The host was very responsive and accommodating. Will definitely stay again if in the area. Highly recommend. Exceeded our expectations.

Perfect location to come watch our daughter graduate from boot camp at Fort Jackson. Thirty minutes away from all the crowded restaurants! Close by beach and amazing parks. The house was perfect!!

We were visiting family for the holidays in the area this sweet little cottage ended up being with 10 minutes of everyone. Though it sits adjacent to the owners' home, it felt private with a nice screened in porch facing the woods. This will be our go to place for visits to family in the future. This was a perfect spot for us to spend a couple of days and be able to attend some activities for my son at USC. We found the home cozy and clean. It was well equipped and comfortable. Check In and out was effortless and we did not have any interaction from the owners on the same property as none was needed. As a person that values privacy this is always a concern for me and we were extremely pleased. We would definitely recommend and would gladly stay here again in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Selwood Cottage and highly recommend it. The space was spotless, well appointed and in such a great neighborhood. We enjoyed the central location in Irmo - the king bed was super comfortable. Just as an FYI (and did not impact our stay whatsoever) the shower is on the small size! If you are a larger person, you’ll struggle to turn around lol.

This cottage is an adorable cottage in a lovely location, close to downtown Columbia. It felt very safe and cozy. Kristen was very lovely and help to remedy a rare situation that occurred while we were there. The only reason for a lower score on the cleanliness was because there was some confusion on our arrival and the home had not been cleaned yet from the last guest. Kristen explained that this has never happened before and she felt terrible. I wouldn't let it deter me or anyone from renting here as you can tell they take great pride in this home and offering a nice place to land for guests. I did some tidying up when we arrived, Kristen provided new clean sheets and towels, and all was well. The home is a perfect stopping ground for short and longer stays. It's perfect for small families, couples, girls trip, guys trip, whatever! We had a chance to go into Columbia for dinner and look around, before coming home and retiring on very comfortable beds. After a 9.5hr drive in from Cleveland, we both rested well and got up early to go on our way. We were able to bring our pups, which is always a huge plus when traveling. It's the only way we go! Communication was great with Kristen- she always answered timely, even from the start of the reservation process. She's very friendly and personable.The only constructive criticism that I would offer is for the front door to be cleaned and/or pressure washed. It's the first thing you see and could be cleaned up.
