I was upset that the elevators were not working and it took a long to get to my room and the lobby. I would have appreciated communication about this ahead of time and would have switched hotels. Apparently it had been an issue for at least two weeks. The staff were amazing. The rooms were dark and small.

What a charming hotel! We loved playing a boar game in the Game Room before our dinner at the rooftop Restraunt Cindy’s! Such a great location, so close to Millenium station and the Fine Arts building. We came in to see a tapping of Wait Wait Don’t Tell me and had an absolutely fabulous time in the city.

Beautiful hotel with great staff (very accommodating and pleasant) and several fun dining options. Interiors are fantastic. Gym is well equipped. It can get a bit crowded in the bars during the weekend, but the energy is nice.

The location was steps from the Bean and the Art Institute of Chicago, and a short bus ride to the Field Museum, aquarium and planetarium. The service was top notch, from Osay in the lobby to Angie in housekeeping to Philippe in In-Room Dining. Staff always had a smile on their face. There was a range of in-room dining options to pick from and all were delicious. Highly recommend the Home Plate or Belgian waffles for breakfast. And don’t forget their French press coffee!! The gym was clean with multiple machines and weight training areas. We didn’t check out any other area at the gym. Cindy’s Rooftop is beautiful and worth a visit. We only did drinks and dessert. There are non-alcoholic options that were tasty. The porcini cheesecake topped with goat cheese ice cream was out of this world good. And yes, there are candied porcini mushrooms on top. We stayed in the Junior Suite which was spacious for the two of us. The double beds were comfy. The seating area was inviting so we spent a lot of time there. The bathroom was pretty. Loved the floor tiles. The things that we didn’t like: Mini fridge stocked with drinks didn’t fit leftovers. No ice bucket/machine or silverware - have to call in room dining The room was always too warm regardless of thermostat. They brought us a fan. Not enough hooks or shelving in bathroom to hang towels/clothes or put toiletries. No shower curtain so water got everywhere when we showered. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Our experience at this hotel was marvelous. So much attention to the history of the building, and the staff all shared a real appreciation and love for the place. I felt like I was in Europe, where everything matters, not just how things LOOK. From the old tiles, to the glass panels, the filagree on the iron railings, the furnishings, it was just all so quiet, clean and relaxed, with great choices for places to it right in house. I would not want to stay anywhere else in Chicago! The only drawback for some might be that they didn't seem to have a business room with computers and printers, which is handy for checking in with airlines or printing off boarding passes. However, they happily took care of doing this for me at the front desk. GREAT place!

This hotel is one of a kind. Three nights were not enough for us to explore the mysteries and charms this hotel had to offer. We had a great fun with our two kids at GAME ROOM playing chess, ski ball, and other games. Drawing room is phenomenal. Looking at the snowflakes from the beautiful window seat in the morning is unforgettable. The only downside is it's exploding with people every night. You can't expect serene relaxing vibe from this hotel especially during holiday season. If you like to hang out among the crowd in festive vibe, this hotel is for you.

We stayed at CAA several years ago and it was exceptional. This past stay was ok-best part was early check in . We had a water leak from shower under glass partition and had to use all our towels to dry floor. We left our room 6/21 at 10am and returned approximately 4pm expecting room restocked with dry-clean towels and trash removal. This was not the case. We called for more towels and received them, but were in room so we couldn’t get it cleaned. For such a “nice “ hotel this was disappointing.

All of the staff were wonderful (valet parking, bellhops, front desk, waitstaff, etc.). The property was lovely and the room was clean, comfortable, and well-designed. Definitely would visit again.

Awesome location, beautiful inside, great activities as well. Though, I was not impressed with the cleanliness or attention to detail of the room. Our mini fridge had multiple opened drinks and bottles in it that were missed by the cleaning team. The rooms are also extremely hot and uncomfortable in the winter. If you’re going to have a central location in downtown close to everything with a little bit of history, I highly recommend. Otherwise I’d stay somewhere else.

With a great location and a knowledgeable and friendly staff this was an excellent three night stay. Hotel was clean and accommodating. I really couldn’t have asked for more. I highly recommend. The only thing I didn’t like was my shower had two shower heads and no door and the two rolled up towels that were placed at the bottom edge didn’t really cut it and my bathroom floor was very wet despite my best efforts.

Fantastic location, directly across from Millennium Park with plenty of dining options nearby. Check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. However, the room was very dark, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was quite dark, with its dark wood paneling and low lighting. It had a bit of a speakeasy vibe.

The gameroom was so much fun! Rooms were stunning and so comfortable. Fantastic location. Would have preferred being able to adjust the temperature in the room from a/c to heat ourselves rather than that being dictated by the hotel. We arrived after a cold day and it was warm in our room, but because the system was on heat we couldn't cool down the room enough to our liking even with the windows open and a fan.

The advertised “view of Millennium Park” was exaggerated, actually only possible if one kneels on the sofa and cranes your neck. Shower is problematic as the glass enclosure leaks, creating a huge puddle extending across the entire room to the toilet. It took 5 large bath towers to sop it up. Otherwise we had a pleasant stay.

I booked this hotel for our 10 year Anniversary visit and decided to pay to upgrade our room to a room with a view of Millennium Park. However, when we checked in and got to our room, I was very disappointed in the view I actually got. The room, on the 5th floor, was obstructed by the architectural designs outside of our windows, therefore, not having the view I had hoped for and the one I had paid for. Since this was around 7:00 on Christmas day, I decided not to go to the front desk to request a room change as we had already started to unpack our stuff. It was just disappointing that the pictures that are shown on the website that obviously has a full view of Millennium Park are not what we got, especially after paying for the upgraded room. We would like to come back and stay again, but not sure we would. A big part of my decision to stay at this hotel was for the view. We come to the city 3-4 times a year and have always stayed closer to Water Tower Place. This is the first time we stayed near Millennium Park and we did so for the proximity to the shows we were attending and also for the view especially during Christmas. Again, just very disappointed with what we got.

I booked this hotel for our 10 year Anniversary visit and decided to pay to upgrade our room to a room with a view of Millennium Park. However, when we checked in and got to our room, I was very disappointed in the view I actually got. The room, on the 5th floor, was obstructed by the architectural designs outside of our windows, therefore, not having the view I had hoped for and the one I had paid for. Since this was around 7:00 on Christmas day, I decided not to go to the front desk to request a room change as we had already started to unpack our stuff. It was just disappointing that the pictures that are shown on the website that obviously has a full view of Millennium Park are not what we got, especially after paying for the upgraded room. This is definitely a 3 star hotel. The rooms were very hot & muggy with hardly any light (the windows open to a very narrow alleyway). Accommodations were cramped, bed was hard, elevator took between 7-10 minutes to be called which made us late two days in a row. The common areas are very nice, but I will not stay here again.

I absolutely love the ambiance of this historical hotel. There is so much do do, between the game room, delicious dining at the Cherry Circle room, several unique bars in the facility including Cindy’s rooftop bar overlooking Millennium Park. I wanted to love it. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous with awesome historical detail. The hotel and room were both very clean. The location couldn’t be better, extremely walkable to many tourist attractions and restaurants. The disappointing part was the room. The bed and pillows were bad quality, very uncomfortable. I would expect a lot more for the price of the room. In addition, on Friday night the house music from the bar downstairs kept us up until midnight. Above our room was a basketball court with pounding basketball noise periodically throughout the night. Lastly, the man seemingly in charge of valet was very rude and disrespectful. He addressed me and when I started to speak, he scoffed and said “nevermind, I’ll talk to him”. I don’t appreciate sexism. He made it very obvious. This hotel is stunning and some of the staff were exceptional. All that being said, I would visit again but not stay. I expect a lot more from a place like this. So many missed opportunities for good service but mostly disappointing was the inability to sleep from the horrible bed and noise. It’s a reasonable expectation to be able to sleep comfortably in a nice hotel as such.

During the day this hotel feels like a packed coffee shop and in the evening it takes the vibe of a college frat house. The checking process was a disaster because concierge could not locate our reservations. We were literally charged again for the rooms we had already prepaid and at a more expensive rate. When we got to our rooms, the shower heads and water pressure had issues. The hotel staff was rude and, in one instance, racist. For example, I asked one employee who came to fix the shower head in our room if they could also fix the shower head in my parent’s room and he completely ignored me as if I did not exist or had spoken to him. I was completely baffled. Also, my sister’s room got unbearably hot and they could not adjust the thermostat or open the windows. It got so bad that they had to change rooms in the middle of the night. My brother-in-law also got food poisoning from eating the pork chop at the hotel restaurant. I asked for a late check out at 1pm and it was granted to me by concierge. Five minutes later a manager (Darius) came to tell me that concierge had made a mistake and they could not grant me the late checkout because the hotel was sold out. They were not sold out. Cherry on top, I was illegally detained by security for for two hours when checking out despite my reservation being prepaid. Being illegally detained for over an hour is the most worst and most humiliating experience I have ever had at a hotel. I will never again stay at this hotel.

With a great location and a knowledgeable and friendly staff this was an excellent three night stay. Hotel was clean and accommodating. I really couldn’t have asked for more. I highly recommend. The only thing I didn’t like was my shower had two shower heads and no door and the two rolled up towels that were placed at the bottom edge didn’t really cut it and my bathroom floor was very wet despite my best efforts.

The property had so many places to eat and have fun at! We felt like we didn’t even need to leave! Dave was fantastic on showing us around the hotel and his recommendations were so helpful! We will be back! I didn’t even tell the front desk lady it was my birthday and she recognized it all on her own and gave us free drink coupons to celebrate. The staff was absolutely amazing

The Chicago Athletic Association is incredible. The hotel itself has so many things to do that you could honestly spend the entire night exploring inside the building and never get bored. The structure of the hotel itself is beautifully built, unique, and fascinating. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and professional. The location is right across the street from Millennium Park and the lake is just beyond that. It's a great location and a great hotel. We had a wonderful time and would love to return!!

Ultimately we ordered our breakfast to go from the restaurant, carried it back to the drawing room and ate it there. Yes, we figured it out but this is a 4 star hotel and this level of ciaos is really unpleasant, when it comes to offering breakfast. For $400+ a night they need to do better.

When he finally appeared he was again put off and angry. In the end when we asked for the bill he slammed it on the table without a word and stormed off. MY girlfriends and I did a one-night staycation and had a great time. I was a little worried the room would be too small but it was very spacious and the two double beds were actually just fine for our purposes. We booked a Millenium Park view room with king bed. Having stayed at the Hilton down the street with the same requirements, it was a much different stay and I was extremely disappointed at the differences. Our room had exterior lights outside of the windows highlighting the building facade, so we had to close the curtains to sleep instead of being able to keep the curtains open and enjoy the sunrise over the lake. The lights were incredibly bright. We were put on the 6th floor, which doesn’t give much of a view of Millenium Park (the tree line in front of us is all we saw other than Cloud Gate) and certainly doesn’t put you high enough up to remove a decent amount of road noise. Every Millenium Park facing room shouldn’t carry the same price point, as they are all not all able to give the same value in selecting a room with a view. The hallway noise was unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. The hallways weren’t even busy, but every cart movement and voice could be heard from inside our room. The room size itself didn’t allow for any seating other than the bed, which also doesn’t feel like a 4-star $500+ a night hotel. The pillows were all highly stuffed and firm, making it difficult to sleep for those of us who prefer a flatter pillow. Other hotels I’ve stay of this caliber offer multiple pillow types. We booked a Millenium Park view room with king bed. Having stayed at the Hilton down the street with the same requirements, it was a much different stay and I was extremely disappointed at the differences. Our room had exterior lights outside of the windows highlighting the building facade, so we had to close the curtains to sleep instead of being able to keep the curtains open and enjoy the sunrise over the lake. The lights were incredibly bright. We were put on the 6th floor, which doesn’t give much of a view of Millenium Park (the tree line in front of us is all we saw other than Cloud Gate) and certainly doesn’t put you high enough up to remove a decent amount of road noise. Every Millenium Park facing room shouldn’t carry the same price point, as they are all not all able to give the same value in selecting a room with a view. The hallway noise was unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. The hallways weren’t even busy, but every cart movement and voice could be heard from inside our room. The room size itself didn’t allow for any seating other than the bed, which also doesn’t feel like a 4-star $500+ a night hotel. The pillows were all highly stuffed and firm, making it difficult to sleep for those of us who prefer a flatter pillow. Other hotels I’ve stay of this caliber offer multiple pillow types.
