The Beachcomber St. Pete Beach Resort & Hotel

The hotel has a really relaxing vibe. The large pool was being refurbished but their was rarely anyone else at the smaller pool- we felt like it was just ours! The beach was accessed by a short boardwalk- with a handy shower so you could wash the sand away. There were beach towels available in an outdoor cupboard- this was really useful. An ice machine was great too. We had food at the beach side diner, which was really nice and we watched the sun go down. The staff were very friendly and were willing to help us. We rated the cleanliness a bit lower as we only had our towels replaced once, instead of every other day. We would return here again as we all feel like we’ve had a relaxing time

The property has 2 pools. So if you can't find a chair with an umbrella at one, the other is close by and you probably will find one there. Live music is practically all day and evening.

Parking on side of building was horrible. No way to turn around. Have to back out all the way to front.

Property was under construction and construction noise started between 7 & 8 am every morning. Construction was right outside of the pool area with noise from workers and jack hammers all day. Construction was not noted on the website nor did anyone make us aware this would be going on. The first notice of this was upon walking in the building to check in. I feel the resort purposefully is not making people aware so they do not lose business. In the meantime all they have is unhappy guests that will not return. This was not the relaxing vacation we were hoping for and have had at others resorts in the area.

If you are coming to this hotel with friends or a partner and are okay with a no frills beach hotel this is a wonderful place to stay. It’s definitely not fancy and the property is older, but it’s steps from the beach. My only complaints are the parking (hard to back out of, very little space) and the fact that the pool was closed. We didn’t find out until we got there and given that it’s a main amenity, a heads up would have been nice.

The only issue was the main pool was closed for resurfacing but they gave everyone ocean cabanas and longue chairs to make up for it. The on site beach bar is big and lots of live music

Nice room, junior suite, 50” flatscreen was awesome, bathroom was nice, looked updated, plenty of linen , cold mini fridge, had 2 pools, a small one and a larger one,both looked clean, the restaurant was at the back of the property on the deck with 2 bars, but we didn’t eat there. We walked thru to the boardwalk that lead to the beach. We enjoyed our stay, parking is limited and tight and that was our only issue. We would definitely stay there again

As a repeat visitor, this was an obvious choice for me. The location is right where I wanted be. Easy drive to John Pass and other areas in and around St Pete’s beach. 7-11 is located directly across the street so getting drinks and snacks was a breeze. They don’t do turn down service on a daily basis, but again I knew that when booking my stay. Additionally, the large pool was under construction, but again I knew that when booking. Since the Beachcomber is directly on the beach so no issue for me. The only thing that I was surprised about was the switch from wooden chairs to plastic ones in the cabanas. I think management should invest in that area. Nonetheless, I will book again in the future.

Nice place to stay. Beach is awesome. The only negative is parking. It can be a nightmare at night when the beach bar is crowded.

No housekeeping, it was dirty. Fridge leaked, bathroom door was broken.

I’ve stayed here many times. This visit, the rooms smelled of mildew so badly it was unbearable. There is construction going on so hopefully they are working on a much needed renovation?

The rooms were awful!!! They were so outdated and soooo dirty!!!

Cockroaches in my room. Was switched to a smaller room without informing me or my group that it was smaller. Went back to get switched again, walked all the way back to find that the key card I was given didn’t work. Went back again, given correct key card. The whole ordeal took over an hour. Was told that the smaller room was an upgrade. A one bedroom can be an upgrade for four people how? And to wait so long for help after finding over ten large and small cockroaches running all over the bathroom, it was unacceptable. Highly enjoyed the pools and beach access, and the bar Johnny B’s. I’m not the type of person who fishes to be comped, but if not for the cockroaches, for wasting so much time during my 2 day vacation would have been much appreciated.

The only thing good about this place was the beach. The pictures of the room on line were very carefully taken. The room "looks" like the pictures but it was old and run down in real life. Doors were rusted, water stained cabinets in the bathroom where hair dryer stored, main door stuck-had to shoulder it open. The windows are set up so that it's all light no privacy or no outside light at all, only blackout curtains or shades just open or closed. We had three big bugs in our room, one of which was a roach. We were there for three days got room serviced zero times. When we asked for clean towels we were brought a big trash bag full of a "room change kit" and were informed how to change it over including where to take our trash. The next day we came back from breakfast to find someone had come in our room and left one towel one wash cloth and one hand towel on the corner of the unmade bed. Parking at this place is a nightmare. Saturday night parking attendant told us we couldn't park in the lot. After we exchanged words he said if you can find a place good luck. This place was TERRIBLE! I never leave a bad review but if you have a choice pick a different accommodation!!

Our room was not very clean. The bathroom floor was disgusting / filthy. The shower leaked onto the floor and we had to wipe it up with a white towel, which turned black from the dirt on the floor. The bathroom was lit with three lights and one of the light bulbs was out, we reported it to the front desk, but it was never replaced. Our neighbors smoked constantly and drifted into our room. It was awful. We would not stay there again, unless it was a smoke-free facility.

roaches everywhere , i could not sleep

The parking situation was horrible. Thr prime place to park wis out front, but there are only a handful of spaces there. Otherwise, you had to drive down the side of the building to find a space, which deadends. To get out you have to drive your car in reverse the entire way back. The beds are hard as a rock. The bathroom, was not quite clean, with hairs in the shower and on the floor. We received no maid service.

The rooms were outdated and dirty. Old Q tips were found in the drawers. Dirty sheets on the bed. The floor in the bathroom was gross. Hair was in the shower wall when we arrived. The couches in the room were torn and dingy looking.

Front desk staff were very friendly and grounds were lovely however room was dirty, specifically mild in shower and beds are very hard.

We loved the nightly entertainment and the adult only pool. We always stay here when we visit St.Pete Beach the property is wonderful and the staff is so friendly! Only thing we didn’t like was our bed was not comfortable and had stains on our sheets so had new ones put on and they didn’t look clean either and we have stayed multiple times here and have never had this issue before. Also we both ended up sick after eating shrimp at the beach bar and were sick the whole next day. So this trip we were a little disappointed because we usually love this place.

The outdoor atmosphere of this property was truly great! I wish the rooms weren't so outdated because we would definitely be coming back. I loved the live music entertainment but we were also able to sleep in our room when we wanted without being disrupted by it. The parking is not great - very tight and limited number of spots. We enjoyed spending an evening out by the courtyard where we could hear the music in the distance but also carry on a conversation. We would consider staying again if it would save a significant amount of money compared to other properties but would prefer and updated room.

This hotel is very old and needs a lot of work. They have renovated one pool, which was very nice but needed more chairs and umbrellas. Doors to room and to the bathroom are rusted and really unsafe. No place to sit inside other than on the bed. Manager was not very kind.

Very LOUD with the music and people from Jimmy Bs. The walls in the rooms are paper thin and we heard ALL that was going on either the rooms on either side of us. Great location in St Pete. Rooms are ready to be renovated.

Room was run down. Shade was broke but called desk and they sent someone out to fix it. Not the best room but this is the next location on St. Pete beach!!

Jimmy Bs is fantastic and I loved being right on the beach. The room was uncomfortable and humid. They need new beds, very stiff and unpleasant. They were doing construction and I couldn’t get the room I wanted because of it and I didn’t find out until check in.

Private access to the beach. Two very clean pools. Friendly, accommodating staff. They work hard. The sleeper sofa is softer than the bed. The room is not quite as described and is small and dark. For what we came for, this was a great place. But we spent most of the time on the beach, including at bedtime. Highly recommend THAT. You do get two chairs and a cabana or umbrella and free parking so that is def worth the cost. They are doing some renovations so maybe room upgrades are coming?

Room not ready for check in until after 4pm, yet there did not seem to be many people staying at that time. The pool is in dire need of a renovation but the room was newly renovated. Great beach location.

Terrence, from the front desk, was so pleasant and helpful. He even lent us his personal umbrella when we were faced with a thunderstorm just before we were about to head out to attend a wedding.

Staff was amazing. Beach bar was great. Beach was steps from the property. Pool was clean. People were nice. Loved my stay.

I love the live bands as we always stay in the Jimmy Bs room. I was happy to be able to get excellent assistance from the gentleman in the morning as I booked an earlier arrival and was able to get into room very early next day great job. Although during checkin the front desk gentleman was not very friendly and customer service may not be what I’d say is his type of work. I will stay over and over again as I’m not that type to rate a great getaway based on one person who is not very friendly. Management may want to adjust his job I truly believe there’s a certain job for everybody.

Front desk staff used to be amazing at this hotel. Something changed abt a year and and a half ago. The attitude now is they really couldn’t care less. Somebody else will stay here if u don’t. Kinda sad.

Gorgeous location - steps outside our room to the pool, beautiful pool. Cabanas and umbrellas with chairs were all set up on the beach. All the staff from font desk to the bar to the beach were just amazing! Highly recommend

We absolutely loved the Beachcomber. The staff was great very knowledgeable about the area gave great recommendations for places to eat and visit. Jimmy B’s bar in the back of property was great for food, drinks, and entertainment. The rooms were clean . We will be back!!!

We had a wonderful time at your hotel! Even with the construction, we had an incredible experience. The convenience of the beach, the cabanas, the restaurants, happy hour and clean room made for a great experience. If I rated 1 thing the best it would be the service! Ian was a gem at check in and the staff at the restaurant were all wonderful!

3rd visit in a year. First 2 were great…this one not so much. Staff checking me in was downright rude. Wound up with a lousy patio room next to an alley and a view of the rear employee entrance to the bar. Previous patio room was great, this one sucked. Spoke to the desk 4 times requesting to change rooms..same guy that checked me in who made it very clear he couldn’t care less whether I was happy or not. Think Motel 6 hospitality. Again, previous stays were great with fantastic staff but something has changed

Great property that just needs some upgrades, particularly in guest rooms. Grounds are fantastic, location to beach can’t be beat, and Jimmy B’s is the best beach bar on the strip!

Wonderful beachfront hotel. Many dining options in walkable distance.

Decent place. Pros- great location on the beach! Cons- security lights shine in your room the entire night, bar/grill has live music which is great until you get no sleep the entire time, your back will hurt after you sleep in those beds, we had ants all in the bathroom.

We stayed at The Beachcomber because of it's location and amenities - direct beach access, complimentary chairs and umbrellas, and Jimmy B's Beach bar connected to the hotel. Jimmy B's has great live music (all day on Saturdays and Sundays), and a huge outdoor deck right on the beach. It was a perfect location. The hotel itself, is an older hotel with renovated rooms, which are modest, and fairly small, with a tiny bathroom, but nice enough. The courtyard, which our room overlooked is beautiful, with hammocks and two pools. The room was clean, but you can tell its an older holder, with metal door frames that have rusted a bit from the salt air. The staff is very kind and helpful, especially Bill on the beach, who sets up your umbrella, offers you water, and will give you ideas of places to go during your stay. The only downside is that you can hear the music in the bar until about 11pm, so if youre an early sleeper, this may be a problem. We were fairly close to the bar, so ask for a room that is as far from the bar as possible. There is also no breakfast restaurant right at the hotel, but there is always fresh coffee in the lobby, a Dunkin' across the street, and Im sure other restaurants nearby. We will stay here again, in fact, we are considering having our very small, casual wedding celebration here.

Right on the beach

A fairly good quality hotel right on the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shops. Excellent bar and restaurant on the premises. Great live music every day and night, and a dance floor. Gorgeous beach with plenty of loungers and cabanas.

The location is great but in my opinion it's over-priced. The room was just ok but not a good value for the price. The worst part was we couldn't check in to the room after a long day of traveling. The best part was the beach. Jimmy B bar constantly had live music but minors are not allowed there after 8:30.

The beach access was Great. The food at Jimmy B's was Great

The room was amazing, comfy bed, lots of pillows. Bathroom was great, good water pressure in shower. Appreciated that housekeeping cleans the room daily . Our room faced the courtyard which was fine, and an easy walk to their bar and music area. What we did not like was the parking situation. Parking is very narrow, and not easy to get in and out of. Also the music area doesn’t allow outside drinks at all, they expect you to pay $$$$$$$$$ for their watered down drink s and food that is just “ok”

The bartenders at Jimmy's B were phenomenal. Excellent service. Loved the live music. Location is the best.

The Beachcomber was as expected. Quick & easy check in and my room request was honored. While it’s furnishing are tired the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Service was very good from hotel staff and beach bar servers were great. I would choose another property if I were staying longer but it’s fine for a night or two. And they have a killer beach bar!
