Our family had a wonderful stay this October. The property was clean, and our host was terrific and quick to communicate. We loved having the opportunity to grill, stargaze in the evening, and sit around the fire pit. Thank you for a fantastic experience!

Beautiful surroundings, nice rooms, hot tub and games a plus. However it lacked basic amenities such as dishwasher detergent, kitchen soap, bathroom soap, at least 1 extra trash bag. There were not enough towels for all of us. The dishwasher did not work.

This large cabin is located in a nice mountain location well in the woods. Views from the back were really beautiful. Great game room and hot tub. The kitchen is large and we’ll equipped. Owner was very quick to respond when a bad storm resulted in a power outage and the next day when the dish based internet stopped working. Fairly close drive to Luray and SNP entrances.

This was such a cute property. It was clean and well kept. Plenty of room for our friends and family that were with us to to lounge and play games and enjoy the hot tub. We absolutely roasted marshmallows around the fire. Would absolutely rent this property again.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. My family and I were celebrating my Mom’s 60th! However, there are a few things that could be improved upon. The place was not as clean as I would have expected there were dead bugs all over the counters when we arrived, but we chalked that up as staying in a cabin in the “woods” it’s bound to happen. The hot tub was not as maintained as we would have liked, and this was one of the things we were looking forward to MOST. When we arrived the water level was extremely low and water was not reaching the filter, we filled it up to the appropriate level but the chemicals seemed off as well. All the handles to adjust the jets were missing as well as one of the headrests to one of the seats. It was an older hot tub so my guess is the handles cracked over time and were maybe removed and not replaced. The upstairs was very WARM at night and was difficult to sleep. Overall, we made the best of it and my mom still enjoyed her 60th birthday in the mountains!

The property was just as described! Comfy and roomy, a great place for our family get away. The bedrooms with a queen bed in each were perfect for the five couples in our group. The kitchen was well-appointed with everything we needed for cooking meals. We really enjoyed the campfire area too and spent a couple evenings there. Overall a great place!!

Four friends and I enjoyed our time in the cabin. We particularly enjoyed the spacious kitchen (with every tool you could need), the hot tub, and that we each could have a room of our own. Playing fusball and shooting pool were a lot of fun. Oh and the stars there! It was incredible to see the stars at night there. (Most of us live in big cities.)

The cabin was absolutely beautiful, clean and full of activities! My friends and I came here from NY the weekend to disconnect and do some hiking in the park. The owner of the property was very quick to respond with questions and suggestions for our stay. I can definitely say if I ever come back to do some more hiking, I will make sure the cabin is available again before I pick dates! 10/10

The cabin in person is so much nicer than the pictures show online. We spent the week with our adult children and spouses cooking, playing games, hanging out watching football, hiking through the woods and even visited a ski resort about 30 minutes away for a day of skiing and snowboarding . The beds were as comfortable as what we would get for ourselves for our own homes. The kitchen was fully stocked and we needed nothing else for cooking which we did every day. The check in process was simple and the cabin was very clean when we arrived. We had plenty of room to enjoy each others company or go sneak away for a quick nap. Ghada was an absolute joy to work with through the entire rental process and during the stay as well if anything was needed. Really could not have asked for a better week and a nicer place to hang out with our family!! I would highly recommend this place as it looks like it has a ton to offer year round.

Just returned home having spent a lovely month at Bear's Den. The property surpassed its moniker "barely rustic." It was in excellent shape and thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. We spent many morning, afternoon, and evening hours relaxing on the spacious deck overlooking the woods and with a view to the Massanutten range. Ghada, the owner, was very responsive and the cabin is well looked after by her local caretaker, Mr. Berry. I enjoyed meeting him and his grandson when they delivered wood for us at the beginning of our visit; he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Great location with easy access to grocery stores (Food Lion), a Walgreen's, a Virginia ABC, and a fantastic microbrewery (Elkton Brewing). Great location for access to Shenandoah National Park: 30-35 minute drive to both the Thornton Gap Entrance Station (to the north) and the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station (to the south). My family and friends thoroughly enjoyed this idyllic mountain retreat and we'll certainly be returning.

We were looking for a place to meet in the middle for the Holidays. The cabin was exactly as listed. Clean, spacious and enough room for everyone to enjoy. Kitchen was larger than expected and fully stocked. We made 2 large meals and had enough plates and pots & pans. The lower level was a tad chilly as we ran out of wood for the stove but got a bundle at a local store. Beds were super comfortable. Bring some toilet paper though. Would definitely rebook.

Google tried to send us to a different house, but luckily we arrived with enough light to see the correct house! Make sure you follow the ones given to you when you book! The pictures should probably be updated on the listing, but even still, we were not disappointed. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the master bedroom and bathroom! Hubby and I loved spending our 20th anniversary here and would love to come back with the family!

Overall a good stay for thanksgiving with the family. spacious and clean, definitely a "cabin in the woods" as the trees must really block any mountain views in the summer. The river is about a 1/2mile down the hill and we noticed that most of the riverfront was posted property. Needs an electric skillet, fixed foosball table.

The cabin was absolutely beautiful, clean and full of activities! My friends and I came here from NY the weekend to disconnect and do some hiking in the park. The owner of the property was very quick to respond with questions and suggestions for our stay. I can definitely say if I ever come back to do some more hiking, I will make sure the cabin is available again before I pick dates! 10/10

This large cabin is located in a nice mountain location well in the woods. Views from the back were really beautiful. Great game room and hot tub. The kitchen is large and we’ll equipped. Owner was very quick to respond when a bad storm resulted in a power outage and the next day when the dish based internet stopped working. Fairly close drive to Luray and SNP entrances.

The cabin in person is so much nicer than the pictures show online. We spent the week with our adult children and spouses cooking, playing games, hanging out watching football, hiking through the woods and even visited a ski resort about 30 minutes away for a day of skiing and snowboarding . The beds were as comfortable as what we would get for ourselves for our own homes. The kitchen was fully stocked and we needed nothing else for cooking which we did every day. The check in process was simple and the cabin was very clean when we arrived. We had plenty of room to enjoy each others company or go sneak away for a quick nap. Ghada was an absolute joy to work with through the entire rental process and during the stay as well if anything was needed. Really could not have asked for a better week and a nicer place to hang out with our family!! I would highly recommend this place as it looks like it has a ton to offer year round.

Just returned home having spent a lovely month at Bear's Den. The property surpassed its moniker "barely rustic." It was in excellent shape and thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. We spent many morning, afternoon, and evening hours relaxing on the spacious deck overlooking the woods and with a view to the Massanutten range. Ghada, the owner, was very responsive and the cabin is well looked after by her local caretaker, Mr. Berry. I enjoyed meeting him and his grandson when they delivered wood for us at the beginning of our visit; he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Great location with easy access to grocery stores (Food Lion), a Walgreen's, a Virginia ABC, and a fantastic microbrewery (Elkton Brewing). Great location for access to Shenandoah National Park: 30-35 minute drive to both the Thornton Gap Entrance Station (to the north) and the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station (to the south). Love this place! Our special needs son asked us to take him to a mountain cabin for his birthday and this place was perfect. Great location and amenities we absolutely loved it. The just was responsive to our pre trip communications and provided all necessary information.

Google tried to send us to a different house, but luckily we arrived with enough light to see the correct house! Make sure you follow the ones given to you when you book! The pictures should probably be updated on the listing, but even still, we were not disappointed. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the master bedroom and bathroom! Hubby and I loved spending our 20th anniversary here and would love to come back with the family!

This is a beautiful home, secluded & quiet, with a very relaxed vibe. We enjoyed being there with Family for our 40th Anniversary. Though it had all amenities listed, some things don't work or aren't well updated. Not as well stocked with basics (soap, toilet paper, cooking oil etc) as we expected...wish we had known to better prepare & provide our own items. No mtn view early Fall, too many trees/leaves block. Saw no bears though!!! Overall would recommend for quiet getaway, but do prep.

We enjoyed our stay at Bears Den Cabin. It was very comfortable and well furnished-- so nice not to have to bring much along with us. We are an outdoorsy family so enjoyed the proximity to hiking, waterfalls, mountain swimming holes and the river for kayaking/tubing. We also enjoyed being a short drive to Harrisonburg (JMU), New Market, Luray Caverns, and Monticello (Charlottesville). We enjoyed dinners out in local restaurants and ice cream/mini-golf/go-karting afterwards before heading home to the cabin to rest/recharge for another day.

Beautiful surroundings, nice rooms, hot tub and games a plus. However it lacked basic amenities such as dishwasher detergent, kitchen soap, bathroom soap, at least 1 extra trash bag. There were not enough towels for all of us. The dishwasher did not work.

Overall a good stay for thanksgiving with the family. spacious and clean, definitely a "cabin in the woods" as the trees must really block any mountain views in the summer. The river is about a 1/2mile down the hill and we noticed that most of the riverfront was posted property. Needs an electric skillet, fixed foosball table.

We were looking for a place to meet in the middle for the Holidays. The cabin was exactly as listed. Clean, spacious and enough room for everyone to enjoy. Kitchen was larger than expected and fully stocked. We made 2 large meals and had enough plates and pots & pans. The lower level was a tad chilly as we ran out of wood for the stove but got a bundle at a local store. Beds were super comfortable. Bring some toilet paper though. Would definitely rebook.

The property was just as described! Comfy and roomy, a great place for our family get away. The bedrooms with a queen bed in each were perfect for the five couples in our group. The kitchen was well-appointed with everything we needed for cooking meals. We really enjoyed the campfire area too and spent a couple evenings there. Overall a great place!!

Four friends and I enjoyed our time in the cabin. We particularly enjoyed the spacious kitchen (with every tool you could need), the hot tub, and that we each could have a room of our own. My family of 9 stayed a week and it was just what we needed. The cabin was a perfect size, plenty of room, and very clean. We used the hot tub a few times, played games downstairs, and saw a bear several times around the cabin. I took off 1 star due to the view and the fire pit. The photos that are on the VRBO listing were taken YEARS ago, so trees have grown up to block the view of the mountains, and the fire pit really needs some TLC and also doesn’t represent what is there now. The yard was also unusable due to it being so grown up and hasn’t been trimmed/cut. We did enjoy thr fire pit along the river.

Family getaway. The log home surely met our expectations. The owner has done a great job in providing comfort and created a welcoming environment with decor and newer furnishings. We loved the open-concept living area, and it kept everyone together, regardless of where they were in the house. The game room was a great add-on feature, and star-gazing in the hot tub was amazing. If you plan on using the kitchen or cooking, it is recommended to bring supplies such as paper towels, dish liquid, sponge, coffee filters, and like necessities (TP). Due to the nature of renters, checking cleanliness of pots, pans, plates, silverware, glasses before use is a good idea (several required cleaning before use). These we in no way show stoppers and we look forward to a future return.

If you plan on using the kitchen or cooking, it is recommended to bring supplies such as paper towels, dish liquid, sponge, coffee filters, and like necessities (TP). Due to the nature of renters, checking cleanliness of pots, pans, plates, silverware, glasses before use is a good idea (several required cleaning before use). These we in no way show stoppers and we look forward to a future return.
