Extended Stay America Suites - San Diego - Carlsbad Village by the Sea

staff seemed friendly but understaffed. I dont usually stay in this type of hotel so a bit hard to rate. room was very large, bed reasonably comfortable. Very inexpensive but I would have expected to have soap in the bathroom and shampoo and a coffee machine. there were none of theses items just a note saying you could request items from from desk. called got no answer- fortunately housekeeper was down the hall and we were able to get soap. also pool was shut down apparently by health dept. gulp.

There were people hanging out in the rear parking, parking lots have very poor lighting. the rear door was unsecured (broken). Rooms very out dated. Didn’t look anything like the photos online. Not worth the price

The gentlemen that checked us in was great. The elevator wasn't working and asked staff for status and had to carry bags and our wagon with stuff from the third floor. The girl that was starting her shift was unhelpful, her answer was i'm just starting my shift and the one that was working said, oh, i didn't even know it wasn't working. You had seniors and people leaving going up and down the stairs and not one apologized or called for maintanace to try to figure it out. It also said it provided continental breakfast and there was no coffee or any other type of drinks that were kid friendly and all they had was muffins and a bkfast bar. Just terrible, will not be staying here again.

No shampoo or conditioner. You have to go to the front desk to get a blow dryer. You have a full kitchen with no utensils, cups or glasses. So why bother having a kitchen. There were big chunks of the wall missing. Water pressure was awful. No ice machine. The property was horrible and the cost was outrageous.

The hotel should not even have been open. Active construction going on. Lobby closed, had to use back door. Water did t work and ran brown when it did. Homeless people all over parking lot. Worst hotel I’ve stayed at in years. Towels were filthy, air conditioner hardly worked. It really should not even be open for business.

First time I stayed at this brand of hotel and I booked it because it had a pool, free breakfast, and kitchenette. The room was extremely substandard with minimal furniture, a dining table with one chair. It had 2 beds but only one nightstand. The kitchenette had no utensils, cups, dishes, plates, pots or pans. There was a stove and sink but how could you cook without anything? The bathroom had no shampoo. The pool was 1/2 filled with water and closed. There was no announcement in the listing to say that the pool would be closed. There was garbage and boxes around the outside of the pool area along the main walk in the back of the building. Very cluttered. Some of the exit doors by the stairway and rear door had missing hardware. The free breakfast had 2 items, nutrition bars and small muffins in wrappers. Really one of the worst hotels that I had ever stayed at. I will never book Extended Stay America again.

Filthy property and common areas. Run down. We have stayed at this property the previous two years and were satisfied. There is a dramatic change in the condition. Property grounds have overflowing trash cans, and grounds littered with trash. The pool area is very dirty. Hallways are covered with stains and have a terrible odor. The elevator is filthy. Flooring in the room is stained. There are no ice machines. The limited number of luggage carts are falling apart and barely operable. You can only enter through the main entrance. Cleary there are security issues. The only positive is our linens, towels and bathroom were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, I would not recommend this property, we will not be staying here again.

No heated pool, so nothing for children to do. Alarm on doors leading into pool and outside with no re entry. No food for grab and go breakfast.

The daily rate was higher than previously noted. The parking lot had homeless people. The inside of the hotel smelled of pot. It seemed as if transient actually stayed in the hotel. The pictures were very deceiving.

The property didn’t have any amenities except a full size fridge and swimming pool which was unclean most of the time. We stayed at the property over 2 weeks and the room wasn’t serviced at all. You have to throw your own trash and to get clean towels you have to lug your dirty ones to the front desk to get them changed out. The beds were really uncomfortable and lacked a warm blanket. The microwave is in an unsafe spot high in the cabinet which made it hard for me to use because I am handicapped and in a wheelchair. The tv didn’t work and it took a week to get it fixed. Last but not least the AC didn't work well.

There was live and dead roaches in the rooms. The first room had live roaches. The second room had dead roaches.

We stayed here for Legoland. It location was close by theme park. The hotel itself was "ok". The room was clean and what I liked was the flooring was NOT carpet. It was wood color floor panels. Made the room seem much more cleaner and roomier. The hallways had carpet and there was an odor. Anyways average stay and was ok for one night only.

When we walked in the room it smelled super bad like cigarettes with a mixture of something and when we were settling our stuff, we were putting our waters in the fridge and when we were walking back to the beds we noticed something was under one of the beds. THERE WAS DOG POOP UNDER THE BED. DISGUSTING. They need to do better with making sure the room is clean before giving it to someone. We did end up moving rooms but still, they need to do better.

Front desk was very nice, unfortunately this was a very dirty room😔! Wiped the floor with a napkin and it was black and dirty with hairs! Our bed sheets were stained! Bathroom had hairs all over the toilet and shower.

We stayed here to go to the street fair. The room was really good but there was a very bad smell in the hallway the whole time, luckily not in the room. Front desk people were great, very friendly. Free parking and a big lot, no trouble finding parking. There were a few sketchy people hanging around the lobby.

Room was dirty , carpets were extremely dirty . TV broken

Staff at front desk was very friendly, other than that the room floor was dusty and had spills on it that were not cleaned up. Floor clearly hadn’t been mopped in a while. Pillows were very flat. Won’t be staying again.

Rooms were not completely clean, still dirt in the floor. Ants in the room, when we asked about what they can do, the gentleman in the front said nothing, maybe kill them yourself? Breakfast consists of a granola bar and oatmeal and packaged muffins. Don’t waste your money or time staying here

I recently had knee surgery and stayed here for 7 nights. I have stayed at MANY Extended Stay hotels as I travel frequently for work. So I was expecting a kitchenette, housekeeping daily, etc At this hotel, there is no housekeeping coming in during your stay. If you want that, there’s an extra charge. There was a cook top and fridge. Also a microwave. But if you want to eat, you must REQUEST EVERYTHING. Plates, cups, flatware. Even the pan to fry your egg in. I asked for a toaster, but too bad. They were all lent out already.I have never EVER been in this kind of scenario. I also saw tiny ants twice. Bathroom and near the bed. No dish soap? Front desk said” oh yes, we need to order more”. On the plus side, everyone is friendly. Very willing to give out extra towels or toilet paper( bring your own paper towels)

The refrigerator kept me up all night. Don’t get a room close to the ice machine or the elevator 😵‍💫.

Hotel was fine. Good value for the price and location in Carlsbad. Freeway noise not so great however

The AC and TV weren't working. We didn't get sleep because it was hot.

I love the space in the room and the kitchen area, full fridge, sink, ample counter top area! Only thing was there were no dishes, utensils, pots/pans, coffee pot, shampoo, hair dryer, etc. I would have expected the room to be pre-stocked with everything. It was as though they rented the room last minute, but we made reservations a week in advance. The closet was great, with multi-tiered racks to hang everything. The AC was not cooling the room and the windows would only open about 3 inches, so the room was hot/humid. There were major ants in the bathroom, trailing all the way from the shower to the sink! No food was left there, so not sure why they came. The beds were moderately comfortable, mattress was not as comfortable as some other places. The food options were terrible! Grab & Go could have included so many more portable options: apples, bananas, oranges, yogurt, granola, milk, packaged nuts, etc. the instant oatmeal was not a good brand/type and the packaged muffins were VERY dry. Cheap quality choices. Coffee was only light roast. If only one type was served, medium roast is more common, or offer both light & dark options. Nice that they did have the hot water option for hot chocolate or tea. The customer service at check-in and for gathering our needed towels, dishes, shampoo, etc. was EXCELLENT! We loved Maria! She was so sweet & kind when checking us in, gathered all of our dishes, towels, etc. and was so pleasant to chat with!

Good stay for the price. Rooms are spacious.

AC did not work and did not have any available rooms. They should have told us before we went to the room.

Right up against the freeway and or room faced it so couldn’t open the window for the noise but otherwise a quiet property

Right next to main hwy so noise was CONTINUAL and windows wouldn't even completely close! Even after buying ear plugs the 2nd day the freeway noise was too much. Also allowed dogs so barking from time to time. Everything else was great but was exhausted my whole 5 night stay.

Got our first room and TV didn’t work properly. Was moved into another room which was nice. Room is basic. Kitchen does not have any dishware. For an Extended Stay you think it would have basic dishware. Maybe you need to request it? Either way, it’s inconvenient. Included breakfast was not much of a breakfast. They don’t even have a dining area. Some packaged things to grab and go back to your room. I wouldn’t exactly call it breakfast. We went and got donuts down the street. Nice thing about the location is it’s walkable to the village where there are plenty of places to eat and shop. Otherwise, it’s got a bed and I got to sleep but otherwise bare bones.

Front desk check in is closed 11 PM to 6 AM. When I got here at 2:30 in the morning, Angelina one of the staff told me to hold on for five minutes and she was able to get me checked in and get me my nice room. I appreciate her really nice service

Overall the Hotel was a successful experience for my one-night soccer night. My family a 4 were comfortable enough to sleep through the night. We had to keep the windows open at night to help the air circulate, so that it was less muggy. The front deck was helpful and friendly when they were around. I had to wait at the desk for someone for a bit for check in and never got to speak to anyone for check out. All in all, the hotel was fine.

Convenient proximity to Carlsbad Village. Friendly staff.

We stayed here to go to the street fair. The room was really good but there was a very bad smell in the hallway the whole time, luckily not in the room. Front desk people were great, very friendly. This extended day hotel is not at all represented correctly on the pictures included on their listing. It is dirty, the staff is rude, the free breakfast consisted of pop tarts and mini muffins. The phone in our room didn't work. We told the front desk and they never sent anyone to give us a working phone. The front desk was incredibly rude and argumentative. Rolling eyeballs while I was speaking happened a few times. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the shower didn't have much water pressure. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and also the most expensive.

According to the hotel, the platform by which we booked over, booked the room type we requested. So they could not accommodate us in a double queen, nor in a handicap room. It took nearly 2 hours to check us in. Despite asking for housekeeping services 4x during our six day stay we only got the room cleaned once. Of the six different employees. We encountered at the front desk during our stay. Four of them were very rude. The shower did not drain, the toilet seat was not secure, the shower curtain rod was hanging on by a thread. When I asked to speak to a manager on the second day, I was told to give my number and they would call me but they never did. so I asked again on the third day, and again they never did.

I wouldn’t stay here again. Lots of homeless come in and steal the coffee and they linger around. Felt unsafe and dirty. Also freeway was loud to sleep next to.

This is a great place to stay in Carlsbad Village because you can walk to all the restaurants, shops and the beach.

The room was clean. Towels are clean. It’s close to the freeway, easy access. Close to the carlsbad state beach. Beds are comfortable and soft.

I love staying here because it’s so close to be able to walk to Carlsbad Village .

This is intended for extended stay. Fine for a one night stay, but there are not a lot of additional amenities or frills. The AC in my room was very weak. On the upside, it's a good budget option that is close to the city center area.

We enjoyed our morning walks to the beach and local shops. Very handy to I-5. Would stay again when in the area.

Very friendly vibe at hotel and excellent walkable location to downtown Carlsbad Had to request basic cutlery, plates etc for kitchenette but staff was happy to accommodate.

Plenty of space and kitchen was nice, but you had to know to ask front desk for dishes, mugs, glasses, silverware, or anything you would want in the kitchen. Bed was okay. Breakfast is Nutrigrain bars, small store bought muffins, and packets of instant oatmeal.

I usually stay at a small Scandia Hotel in Carlsbad Village but they don't serve breakfast so I Thought try something that cost 50 more for a breakfast, WRONG NO BREAKFAST just dry muffins and packaged dry oatmeal!! And all the outside door entrances are broken off and the morning clerk not friendly asked for conditioner and all they have is shampoo.. Scandia I will be back.

Overall our stay was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. One of our rooms had aunts and the breakfast was nothing more than coffee and pre packaged muffins and oatmeal.

Nice place but you have to ask for everything like plates, shampoo, etc. No cream rinse or paper towels, napkins. Breakfast is coffee, a small muffin or granola bar. Pretty minimalistic.

This place is a hidden gem. Easy walk down town. Easy walk to food. There is a Mexican takeout that is great a block away. The motel is fairly new and very clean. There is a full kitchen. I have two complaints. A breakfast bar or rolled oats is not breakfast. Second is they do not have coffee in the room so you have to wait tell 6 am.

This hotel was within easy walking distance to Carlsbad Village. It served a coffee and muffin grab and go breakfast. Easy distance to CRT trail for running. Will stay there again.

The so called “breakfast” was nothing but packaged sugar. No shampoo in the bathroom. The staff was amazing!
