Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Irondale East by IHG

The room had a clean but very dirty feel to it...like a very cheap motel seen in movies. No blinds in the window-just cheap cloth shower curtain-ish look. The carpet was visibly dirty. I could not wait to get up and leave the following morning. Unless a total and complete renovation is done, never again will I reserve a room there. Ever.

Arrived and given room that had not been cleaned. Corner trim fell off near entry door. One of 2 elevators out of service all 5 days of our stay. Toilet handle broken but maintenance did quickly fix it. Room not serviced -- always had to ask for clean towels. Disappointing breakfast -- should eliminate turkey sausage. Pancake machine inoperable.

After a 5 hour drive I arrived and room wasn’t ready at 3pm. Front desk staff informed me it would be a few more minutes, that quickly turned into about another 2 hours. Room was very spacious and comfy but could’ve been cleaner.
