We always use the Mencey hotel when we stay in Santa Cruz. The pool is absolutely fantastic as I swim 2 km a day. Staff are friendly and excellent.

Tolles Mittagessen, Personal durchwachsen und Abendessen immer mit der gleichen Karte. Das ist bei längeren Aufenthalten dann schwierig. Variieren kann dieses nur immer die Tagesempfehlung. Teils super unmotiviertes Personal. Beim Lunch hingegen auf der Terrasse neben dem Pool sehr gute Speisenauswahl. Toller Poolservice durch Carlos. Gute Auswahl beim Frühstück mit frischen Eierspeisen und super Säften (frisch gepresst und große Obstauswahl. Spa gegen Aufpreis möglich, sehr schöne großzügige und grüne Hotelanlage und ein gutes Gym. Parken gegen Aufpreis 12,-€ pro Tag im Parkhaus möglich. Super bequeme Betten und ein schönes Zimmer zum Innenhof (Poolsicht). Negativ zu erwähnen ist der Kaffee. Hier kann man nur den Filterkaffee trinken. Alles andere ungenießbar.

A warm welcome after a 40 min drive from the airport. Room was a junior suite which was clean, spacious and look over a beautiful garden. Mini bar fully stocked and robe, slippers and creams were a delightful addition. Coffee machine in our room but the pods were not re stocked so was only able to use it our first night. We stayed 3 nights. Breakfast was full of healthy hearty selection and all delicious. Freshly squeezed orange juice hit the spot. Our evening meal was equally as nice with a good choice of menu. The bar area was our favourite. We originally had plans to go out, but feeling comfortable in such a pretty setting, served by the most friendly waiters, there was no need to venture out. The pool and pool bar area was tranquil and we enjoyed the peace and warm swim. Fully equipped gym looking out to the mountains made my morning run more enjoyable. The only gripe was we booked due to being a spa hotel, there is a spa but at additional cost. I didn’t recall reading this, so it came at a surprise. To be honest, we didn’t need the additional activity as we found relaxing and enjoying our peaceful surroundings in the late winter sun, was exactly what we required. We will most definitely return.

The hotel and its grounds are beautiful, and the location in Santa Cruz is perfect. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and I can’t say enough good things about our experience; the staff made us feel welcome and provided excellent and friendly service. The pool, spa, and workout facilities were beautiful and the view of the hills of Tenerife were stunning. We will recommend this hotel to our friends and family and are looking forward to coming back here again in the future!

Ik kijk terug op 6 fantastische dagen. Wat een heerlijk hotel! Kamers waren brandschoon en ruim: strak opgemaakt goed bed, schone vloer, frisse handdoeken, glanzende badkamer. Ook gangen, liften en lobby goed onderhouden. Personeel is zeer vriendelijk, rustig en meedenkend. In restaurant en bar wordt goed opgelet, service met een glimlach. Bij de bar ruime keuze aan cocktails. Het zwembad is schoon en ruim. Bediening tot aan je ligbed, vaak met een praatje erbij. Een vaste badmeester houdt toezicht en is benaderbaar, wat een veilig gevoel geeft, zeker voor ouders met kinderen. Eten is gevarieerd, goed op temperatuur en wordt steeds aangevuld. De Ibero-app werkt prettig: bestellingen gaan via de app, je hoeft niet steeds je portemonnee te pakken en je rekent alles in één keer af bij vertrek. Het centrum ligt op 10 tot 15 minuten lopen, of is bereikbaar met de bus. Halte dichtbij. Buslijn 10 rijdt vanaf vliegveld Tenerife Zuid naar het busstation van Santa Cruz (ca. 50 min, €5-€6). Playa de Las Teresitas is bereikbaar met bus 910, elke 10 minuten, rit van ca. 15 min (€1-€2). Mooi strand met palmbomen en uitzicht op de bergen. Bel hôtel avec une piscine qui manque d’activités pour les enfants ou de musique. Le restaurant demi-pension est très bon mais pas de buffet et choix à la carte. Les boissons sont payantes et l’eau également. La chambre est correcte mais le nettoyage et rudimentaire. Les serviettes ne sont pas régulièrement changées, même lorsqu’elles se trouvent sur le sol. Les capsules de café ne sont pas systématiquement renflouées non plus. En ce qui concerne le personnel, très gentil et serviable. Au niveau de la langue, l’anglais n’est pas maîtrisé par tous et pas de français. Possibilité de se garer aux alentours assez limitée et parking assez coûteux (10€ la journée si vous prenez plusieurs jours, 12€ la journée si vous en prenez qu’un jour) Sinon, dans l’ensemble, bon séjour dans un très bel hôtel à 15 min à pied des rues commerçantes.

Gorgeous hotel, great swimming pool, beautiful grounds/garden, and turtles by the restaurant! Next to the beautiful park! This wasn’t our first time at this hotel, and we were so looking forward to another treat. Unfortunately, the room smelled strongly of sewage, and the air conditioning barely worked—while being extremely noisy. We complained at reception, and someone was sent to spray the room with air freshener, resulting in a horrible combination of sewage and sweet scents. After further complaints, our room was finally changed the next day. The food in the restaurant was plentiful but didn’t look fresh—ham and bacon had a strange color. I thought that was one off but next two days it looked the same. Croque madame was inedible, eggs with pieces of egg shell, undercooked omelette. I am not fussy eater but sorry my family could not eat it. The staff were not friendly at all, especially around the swimming pool, where they were very rude. No single smile, barely responded with some sound when thanked them in Spanish… Iberostar, please consider that some guests spend a year or longer waiting for their dream holidays and choose your hotel at a significant cost (200 eur per night). Please treat your visitors with care!

Emplacement exceptionnel, juste en sortant de l'hôtel, l'accès aux rues piétonnes et à tous les magasins est presque immédiat. Le petit-déjeuner est impeccable, autant par sa qualité que par son service. Le personnel de l'hôtel est extrêmement sympathique et serviable quand il est sollicité, mais ils n'ont pas l'air de savoir en quoi consiste leur travail respectif. Étant moi-même dans le tourisme de luxe je pense que le problème de cet établissement est le management. Le personnel de réception ne connaît pas les chambres et leurs tailles. De par sa politique d'admission on a l'impression que le Spa ne fait pas partie de l'hôtel, par 16-18⁰C on voit des familles autour de la piscine extérieure parce que les enfants ne sont pas les bienvenus dans le Spa, ce qui est triste c'est que le Spa est vide, payant ou pas. Le menu carte "room-service" est restreint et de faible qualité, le plat de "jamon iberico" à 25€ frôle le vol, un nombre infime de copeaux de jamon rances de 2 cms. Pour notre séjour de 3 nuits, à part le lit de fait chaque jour, le sol n'a pas été aspiré ou balayé une seule fois et aucune poubelle n'a été vidé. Les couloirs de moquette du 4ème étage sont sales et des morceaux de verres cassés se trouvaient devant la porte de notre chambre, le mini-bar n'a pas été ravitaillé ou vérifié, il a fallu appeler 2 fois pour leur demander de venir le ravitailler le dernier soir. Bref, tout le monde est très sympa mais personne ne connait son boulot, la faute à la direction.

Staying at the Grand Mencey was an incredible experience. The hotel is beautiful. The staff are fantastic. Everything is spotless. The breakfast included with our room was delicious. We actually changed our vacation plans to come back to this hotel for three more nights we liked it so much and I hope we come back again soon.

This hotel gets pretty much everything right: comfy large bed, large bathroom, an air conditioner that is both quiet and effective, friendly staff, especially housekeeping. Parking is relatively expensive, but there is an area behind the hotel where you can usually park free of charge. As well as a restaurant, there is a nice outdoor informal cafe that also serves food. Highly recommended.

Since the doors to the bathroom are glass and don’t close the lights in the bathroom should have dimmers so going to the toilet at night does not disturb the others sleeping. The shower temperature was hard to control , getting slowly too hot or slowly too cold. The mattress was too firm For me. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room service and restaurant food was great and the staff accommodated gluten free very well. Overall great experience!

Mattresses were in bad shape and we were told they could not be changed (even though there is a room of spare mattresses) and there were no other rooms free. We had to upgrade to a suite to get better mattresses. The suite was nice and the mattresses slightly better but still had dips. We both needed a massage after the stay.

This was booked as a five star hotel, it was a five star hotel with 3 star rooms, amenities and guest care. Had much better service at Premier inn at a third of the cost. Budget hotel with premium prices. Check in staff were unhelpful. When we went into our room there was an awful smell from the fridge, the air con was not working the room had poor light so put on the standard lamp that didn’t work either. Went down to the desk to speak with them and explained the problems and said perhaps we were doing something wrong. There was no instruction for anything. I was told by Rosa that I was British and she thought it was typical of us to complain about nothing because I was English. She made me feel very uncomfortable and it turned out the fridge was broken and needed to be replaced, the lamp was broken and was replaced and the air con was not working so someone had to go into the loft to fix it. Not at any time was there an apology or anyvsupport. They would take out dirty towels and not replace them, we do not drink coffee so they took out the machine and provided a kettle but to get t bags or milk was like pulling teeth. In the end we just bought them from the local shop. We just as well gone self catering because that was what we were doing. Thank goodness for the local spar. Noisy emptying recycling banks at 10.30pm lots of traffic noise. Verandas had no privacy. No way is this a 5 star hotel. At a stretch it is a budget hotel with pretty interior.

Das Hotel ist ein grosses, ehrwürdiges Gebäude mit Balkonen auf den schönen Garten und Pool. Schwimmen im Spa kostet für 1.5 Std. zusätzlich 20 Euros. Das Frühstück ist empfehlenswert. Die Einrichtung des Zimmers ist nicht sehr modern. Die Holzläden kann man nicht ganz öffnen, deshalb ist es im Zimmer etwas dunkel. Die Beleuchtung ist knapp. Das Hotel ist nah bei einem Park etwas oberhalb von der Einkaufsstrasse und mit Bushaltestelle. Das Auto parkt man am besten in der Tiefgarage für 12 Euros pro Tag, Parkplätze findet man ausserhalb keine. Es gab keinen Willkommensdrink oder Früchte im Zimmer wie in andern 5* Hotels. Für 2-3 Nächte ok, aber ich bevorzuge ein 4*Iberostarhotel in Strandnähe.

Todo estaba bien excepto las recepcionistas flojas, al llegar a las 14.30h la habitación no estaba, sin problemas, pero nos dijeron que íbamos a recibir un mensaje cuando estaba, tomamos algo en el bar y a las 15.30h todavía nada y fuimos a recepción con otra chica. La habitación estaba preparada. Preguntamos por los extras de Expedia VIP/silver y nos iban a llamar a la habitación para informarnos. No recibimos ninguna llamada. The staff was very friendly, kind and able to address all our needs during our stay. The buffet for breakfast was AMAZING!! you cant miss this, the variety of food is incredible, really really great! and for an affordable price. The hotel itself is gorgeous, you get your room service everyday, the restaurants, bar inside the property are beautiful, the pool area is clean with towels available at all times. The SPA receptionist was not very friendly, that is the only thing I wanted to point it out, she acted like she does not care if you get the service you want nor even explain the service they offer and how it works. But the Hotel itself is amazing and I will gave it 9 out 10.

The hotel itself is totally fine, but the restaurant was a disaster. The dinner experience ruined it for us. Despite what the reviews say, there are many excellent restaurants on the other side of the street. Dinner: They took 2.5 hours to serve our dinner! This ruined our night and left us with a negative impression of the hotel. Bar: Because of the reviews, I had high hopes. They only served overpriced, bad cocktails. Breakfast: Overpriced but high quality. If you come here, don't book any food services, and you'll have a fantastic stay.

Nos alojamos cinco noches en el hotel Mencey. La primera impresión no fue la mejor: al llegar, esperamos unos 20 minutos para hacer el check-in pese a haberlo completado online. Se agradecerían máquinas de auto check-in para agilizar el proceso. El recepcionista fue amable y profesional. Habíamos solicitado una habitación con bañera, pero nos asignaron una con ducha. Tras comentarlo, nos pidieron volver al día siguiente y cumplieron, aunque el tapón del desagüe estaba roto (lo repararon después). Al regresar esa tarde, encontramos una botella de cava y unas tartaletas como detalle de cortesía, gesto que agradecimos mucho. Los restaurantes y bares ofrecen buena calidad, aunque en momentos puntuales el personal parecía sobrecargado. La piscina de agua salada es agradable, pero el servicio en la zona es algo lento. La habitación, una vez solucionado el problema, resultó cómoda y muy limpia. El edificio es precioso, con una ubicación excelente y un aire clásico muy elegante. Recomendaría el Mencey como un sólido hotel de 4 estrellas. Para alcanzar el nivel de un auténtico 5 estrellas, le faltan ciertos detalles que anticipen las necesidades del huésped y una política menos enfocada en cobrar por cada extra.

Vi brukar bo på AC Marriott när vi är i Santa Cruz, men kommer framöver fortsätta bo på den här trevliga resorten. Hotellet ligger nära en mycket vacker park och du har bara några minuters promenad till restauranger och shopping. Tack till alla i hotellteamet för ett mycket fint bemötande.

This hotel is beautiful!! We stayed here 1 night before a cruise. Everything about this hotel is lovely. They even have a turtle pond near the pool. Their buffet in the main restaurant was amazing….both for dinner and breakfast.

Fantastic stay. Didn’t expect to queue for breakfast 15min, otherwise great. Breakfast options could be improved, especially for children. The room was great. Enjoyed the swimming pool. Would come back.

Had a lovely stay at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey. Lovely old building with good facilities. Well located near public transport, city centre and a pleasant little park. Loved: The comfortable bed, the pool and pool area, the spa facilities, the friendly and attentive staff, the amazing buffet breakfast that included an unprecedented amount of vegan options Negatives: 1. Lack of decent pillows - one little square pillow and a thin rectangle was not comfortable or supportive. I’d expect more from a 5-star hotel. 2. When we arrived there was a strong musty, wet towel smell in the bathroom. It never really went away and we were greeted by in on most returns to the room. Unsure if it was a smell from the pipes? 3. Not enough clothes hangers and a lack of places to hang wet towels. 4. Spa treatments lovely, but the price of them is quite high. 5. Tea bags in the room would have been nice. 6. Given the thought put into it at breakfast I would have liked to see more vegetarian/vegan options in the hotel restaurants/bar.

Un magnifique hôtel de tradition… Ah, si tous les hôtels Iberostar étaient comme ça! En ville, mais dans les jardins de l’hôtel nous sommes en pleine villégiature. Nous avions très exceptionnellement choisi la formule demi-pension. La prestation reçue a été vraiment étonnante et dans le meilleur sens: service à la table très chic - les plats servis sous cloche d’argent, des spéciaux du jour, mais toute la carte est également disponible et cela dans une très belle salle à manger.

Tolles Mittagessen, Personal durchwachsen und Abendessen immer mit der gleichen Karte. Das ist bei längeren Aufenthalten dann schwierig. Variieren kann dieses nur immer die Tagesempfehlung. Teils super unmotiviertes Personal. Beim Lunch hingegen auf der Terrasse neben dem Pool sehr gute Speisenauswahl. Toller Poolservice durch Carlos. Gute Auswahl beim Frühstück mit frischen Eierspeisen und super Säften (frisch gepresst und große Obstauswahl. Spa gegen Aufpreis möglich, sehr schöne großzügige und grüne Hotelanlage und ein gutes Gym. Parken gegen Aufpreis 12,-€ pro Tag im Parkhaus möglich. Super bequeme Betten und ein schönes Zimmer zum Innenhof (Poolsicht). Negativ zu erwähnen ist der Kaffee. Hier kann man nur den Filterkaffee trinken. Alles andere ungenießbar.

Stayed here many times over the years. Been about 5 years since last visit and delighted to say that it’s better than ever. Staff are wonderful and friendly. Best hotel buffet breakfast that I’ve experienced. Public spaces great and fantastic pool area to relax and chill.

The hotel itself is totally fine, but the restaurant was a disaster. The dinner experience ruined it for us. Despite what the reviews say, there are many excellent restaurants on the other side of the street. Dinner: They took 2.5 hours to serve our dinner! This ruined our night and left us with a negative impression of the hotel. Bar: Because of the reviews, I had high hopes. They only served overpriced, bad cocktails. Breakfast: Overpriced but high quality. If you come here, don't book any food services, and you'll have a fantastic stay.

A great hotel, but not a 5 star. Staff service was intermittent, particularly in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner. One dinner was excellent, the next, the fish was over cooked and too salty. Could have been so much better
