What a charming place! We found this little gem and so happy that we did. Typically don’t stay at a hotel that doesn’t have a pool for the kids, but it was a one night stay and figured they wouldn’t have time for swimming anyway. So glad that we chose it. Staff is super friendly. We ate at the restaurant and the food was amazing! Cocktails were delicious. Our room was cute, we traveled with friends and our room was like a little apartment. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. Cute little living room. Beds were super comfy and we slept very well. Breakfast was a grab and go, plenty of options to pick from. I hope we find a reason to come back.

The GD is a very lovely place to stay. The beds are comfortable. It is a historic building and is very lovely. The restaurant and bar downstairs are great. Everything closes down at 10, so it is nice and quiet at night. We will stay here again. There is coffee and a light continental breakfast on the 3rd floor. We didn't notice that at first, it is written on the welcome sheet they give you. There is no coffee in the rooms.

Our room was nice and the hotel appeared well maintained and clean. The continental breakfast exceeded expectations. The staff was very nice. Issues : The elevator requires an attendant who is often unavailable and we were in the fourth floor! Also, the restaurant has limited hours.-

Loved the unique and historic qualities of the hotel! Rooms and decor were clean and thoughtful. The continental breakfast was well-done for a small space. Only issue was the lack of staff onsite and communication about the check-in/check-out process. Elevator not available without staff. It worked out but was confusing. Would still definitely go back!

The hotel is old but well maintained and charming. The rooms don't have some of the amenities of a modern hotel, like multiple outlets or mini frig, but was perfect for my stay. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast bar is 24/7 and well stocked. FYI on the elevator.. it is very old and can only be operated by staff so be prepared to use the stairs.

Don’t look for amenities like refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms, but there’s a microwave in a common area if you need one. The elevator takes an operator from the staff to run it, so after around 10pm you will have to take the stairs. The restaurant is very good.

The General Denver Hotel is a historic site. It looks like an old ski lodge. We find it to be very cute. There is a restaurant and 2 bars downstairs, the food, drinks and service are really good. This is our go to place when we are in Ohio for tue ren faire.

The comfort was phenomenal, those needs were amazing and with the atmosphere around it feels so cozy! The old fashioned elevator is available during active work hours because a staff member has to run the old fashioned crank, but it just adds to the charm. They have TVs with a whole ton of streaming services. You can either watch or log into your own on amongst all the old fashioned stuff. There is a room on the third floor that constantly has access to free coffee and snacks in a continental style, the options were nice and more diverse than I was expecting. They also have a Keurig if you wish to bring your own pods from home. It's a very popular place among locals, the live music was fun and the food tasted amazing. I got the mile high steak and it came with shrimp and it wasn't too bad priced either, food was hot and the workers were kind. Now what nobody tells you is that this is in the coziest little neighborhood. There's an ice cream and froyo place across the street that's the cutest little thing, very friendly neighborhood and a theater for plays right around the corner. You'll think you're in a cozy movie.

Very nice hotel built in 1928. Everything was renewed, clean, and comfortable. We loved the antiques and we were fascinated by the original hand-operated elevator. (I'd only seen those in old movies.) The snack/breakfast bar on the third floor was available 24/7 and was well stocked with was of variety for a nice breakfast. The restaurant was crowded but the service and food were great. We will definitely stay there again.

You can only get to the hotel at 4 o'clock to check in because there's nobody there 4 to 8 and then the desk closes. There's a restaurant in several bars and they're open and loud. The rooms were dirty. No rails in the bathtub in the bathtub was extremely high to get in, there was no ice where there said there was ice. The area had one table and two chairs and Nas breakfast wasn't even a decent breakfast. They also had an elevator that she could only ride if someone from the hotel ran it really lots of older people and you have to walk up I had to walk up four flights of stairs , did you put your luggage on and then wait for the person to put it on the elevator very old-fashioned one and take you up to your room all in all I should've realized the room was really reasonably rated. It was going to be something I would want to stay at never again.

Room was very quaint, clean and comfortable. Decor was simply but nice. Bed was cozey with ample pillows. Nice touch that our room came with two bottles of water. Light continental breakfast had a wide variety of items along with some fresh fruit. The step up into the bathroom was a little odd. Wish they had shades versus mini blinds so the room was darker. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

This is a really lovely hotel that feels both historic and designed for comfort. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever been in in a hotel. The breakfast is basic, but was open throughout the day to grab snacks when needed or in advance of the next morning.

The hotel is older and the room was quaint, yet nice. The customer service was excellent and the food at the restaurant was delicious. The elevator is operated by an employee until 10 pm, and after 10 pm you will have to walk up flights of stairs. Be prepared for that. I enjoyed my stay and recommend this hotel.

Great old building with an elevator operator. Really nice kitchen area with food for breakfast, or any time. convenient parking. This is an old building, so do not expect a lot of modern frills. ai really enjoyed the stay here, and it was a great deal for the money.

TV did not work. The guy at the front desk could not fix it. The outlet in the bathroom did not work so I had to use the hair dryer in the bedroom. The ceiling and wall plaster needs to be replace as it was falling down in some places. No ice on the third floor. Had to start a portable ice maker. Water also was flowing all over the counter. The Kureg coffee maker had no water so couldn’t make coffee. Bed was good.

The hotel manager is excellent! Seth went above and beyond to make sure our stay went well. The hotel is unique and historical, and we liked that aspect. The room we stayed in could use some updating. The walls were thin, and the bed was pretty hard. And I’m not sure there’s air conditioning, though they do provide a floor fan, which helped a lot. It was spotlessly clean and obviously well taken care of. And the fruit at the continental breakfast was a lot fresher than you expect from a hotel breakfast. I would stay here again.

It's a nice hotel if you're looking for a scenic place to stay. We understand it's considered an historic property, but it could use some updating especially with regards to ease of charging mobile devices and air conditioning

The junior suite exceeded our expectations: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a lovely sitting room. The service in the bar was a little slow but the drinks were good. The food was fine but nothing memorable. Our server was exceptional and personable. I’d stay at the hotel again. It was lovely and priced reasonably.

Paper thin wall between our room and the next! Very small room such that we banged into furniture. Love the historic building, but I might consider somewhere else on future trips to the area.

We got to the door just in time as they were about to close. The girl at check-in was waiting with our keys and paperwork. She took us to our 4th floor room in the coolest old school elevator, employee only operated! The bed was incredibly comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. If we’re ever back in Wilmington this is where we’ll stay!

Hotel was good the only issues I had was after staff went home you couldn’t use the elevator, you had to use the stairs. And the Wi-Fi in my room wouldn’t work I had to go into the hallway and there is no way to control the ac in the room because the building was central air . No controls in the room. There was someone using a jackhammer inside the hotel till 1 o’clock in the morning my first night . Couldn’t sleep

We stayed for 2 nights. Our room was 2 adjoining rooms actually which included a very uncomfortable pull out sofa bed. The fixtures need some repair and updating in the bathrooms, shower water cycles from scalding hot to cold at random. The amenities are slight at this property. There’s water damage on the walls, on of the 3rd floor windows in our room was not double pained like the other two, dangerous as hell IMO. If you have a child with you you have to keep the window locked. Which poses another problem because the rooms are not individually temperature controlled, and if you’re warm like we were this weekend it’s uncomfortable. The box fans are helpful, but are obv very loud which is inconvenient. The hand operated elevator is cool, but you have to find someone to operate it, otherwise you must use the stairwell, note: not all staff can operate the lift, so if you have luggage good luck to you. It’s a charming hotel, really. Just not worth the price in our opinion. The hotel manager was nice, the blonde host from the restaurant not so much. Overall the stay was average/good, but we were expecting more hospitality and better quality based on the reviews.

The hotel manager is excellent! Seth went above and beyond to make sure our stay went well. The hotel is unique and historical, and we liked that aspect. The room we stayed in could use some updating. The walls were thin, and the bed was pretty hard. And I’m not sure there’s air conditioning, though they do provide a floor fan, which helped a lot. It was spotlessly clean and obviously well taken care of. And the fruit at the continental breakfast was a lot fresher than you expect from a hotel breakfast. I would stay here again.

We needed to check in a little after thr check-in time, but the team was willing to work with us and accomodate our delayed arrival which I appreciated. The room was nice, though I did feel a bit awkward having a connecting door to another room. I'm not sure if all the rooms are like that.

The 100 year old hotel has been restored and is located in a safe, walkable neighborhood. There are some quirks, like the elevator that can only be operated by employees. Some of the rooms & bathrooms are very small, but sweet. Our only complaint was that there was no one to call at the desk when we needed them. The only phone number is to their reservation service. All in all, a unique, fun stay. The restaurant and staff were excellent!!

We loved staying at the General Denver! The building is beautiful with a unique charm to it. The staff is incredibly friendly! We unintentionally booked a room too small for three people (the website described the room I booked as a Deluxe so I assumed it had a bed and pull out couch.) when it was determined we were actually in the smallest room in the entire hotel, the manager upgraded us to a two bedroom suite at no extra cost. The food at the hotel was also pretty good! In walking distance, there’s a lovely Mexican place with the BEST margaritas I’ve ever had, as well the TinCap Hard Cider - HIGHLY recommend their Mac Daddy pizza. We will definitely be staying here during our next Wilmington visit!

Loved the unique and historic qualities of the hotel! Rooms and decor were clean and thoughtful. The continental breakfast was well-done for a small space. Only issue was the lack of staff onsite and communication about the check-in/check-out process. Elevator not available without staff. It worked out but was confusing. Would still definitely go back!

We had a delightful stay at the General Denver. The front desk clerk and the elevator operator were kind, cheerful, and helpful -- and we loved the "oldest operating original elevator in Ohio." We also enjoyed the snacks available in the vending room, the celebratory activities going on in the restaurant, and the very convenient location, just around the corner from the beautifully refurbished Murphy Theatre with its special festivities. We were sorry not to be able to stay longer!

Was pleasantly surprised how nice this place was. The staff was very helpful, and the restaurant had excellent food. It was only 4 miles from the World Equestrian Center and the Catholic Church was right across the street. I'm planning on staying there again next time I come back.

Perfect location for visiting Wilmington. The area outside of the hotel was cute, but a lot of empty storefronts and closed businesses. There are church bells that go off at random times and for long periods of time. One morning we counted 42 very loud dings. No fault of the General Denver of course. Their staff at the front desk and restaurant were awesome and both hotel and restaurant were nice. If I go back to Wilmington, this is the only place I would stay!

The General Denver Hotel is a historic site. It looks like an old ski lodge. We find it to be very cute. There is a restaurant and 2 bars downstairs, the food, drinks and service are really good. This is our go to place when we are in Ohio for tue ren faire.

The comfort was phenomenal, those needs were amazing and with the atmosphere around it feels so cozy! The old fashioned elevator is available during active work hours because a staff member has to run the old fashioned crank, but it just adds to the charm. They have TVs with a whole ton of streaming services. You can either watch or log into your own on amongst all the old fashioned stuff. There is a room on the third floor that constantly has access to free coffee and snacks in a continental style, the options were nice and more diverse than I was expecting. They also have a Keurig if you wish to bring your own pods from home. It's a very popular place among locals, the live music was fun and the food tasted amazing. I got the mile high steak and it came with shrimp and it wasn't too bad priced either, food was hot and the workers were kind. Now what nobody tells you is that this is in the coziest little neighborhood. There's an ice cream and froyo place across the street that's the cutest little thing, very friendly neighborhood and a theater for plays right around the corner. You'll think you're in a cozy movie.

Very nice hotel built in 1928. Everything was renewed, clean, and comfortable. We loved the antiques and we were fascinated by the original hand-operated elevator. (I'd only seen those in old movies.) The snack/breakfast bar on the third floor was available 24/7 and was well stocked with was of variety for a nice breakfast. The restaurant was crowded but the service and food were great. We will definitely stay there again.

What a charming place! We found this little gem and so happy that we did. Typically don’t stay at a hotel that doesn’t have a pool for the kids, but it was a one night stay and figured they wouldn’t have time for swimming anyway. So glad that we chose it. Staff is super friendly. We ate at the restaurant and the food was amazing! Cocktails were delicious. Our room was cute, we traveled with friends and our room was like a little apartment. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. Cute little living room. Beds were super comfy and we slept very well. Breakfast was a grab and go, plenty of options to pick from. I hope we find a reason to come back.

This was a very pleasant stay. Parking was a little difficult as there really isn’t a parking lot for the hotel. I parked in the church parking lot across the street. The rooms do not have individual thermostats and I feel like the AC was on all night which was very cold. Even with double blankets and the space heater going, the AC blows straight on the bed. It does take the hot water about 5 min to reach its full potential, but once it does it feels great! I really didn’t interact with staff except to go up in the elevator when I got there. When checking out at 8am it was like the hotel was still closed, very dark and no staff. Not like your normal hotel but I’d definitely stay here agian.

The rooms do not have individual thermostats and I feel like the AC was on all night which was very cold. Even with double blankets and the space heater going, the AC blows straight on the bed. It does take the hot water about 5 min to reach its full potential, but once it does it feels great! I really didn’t interact with staff except to go up in the elevator when I got there. When checking out at 8am it was like the hotel was still closed, very dark and no staff. Not like your normal hotel but I’d definitely stay here agian.
