We had a great little getaway in Edinburgh and our choice of the hotel was perfect. Quiet residential area with excellent bus connections to city centre and Leith, bus stops are literally around corner. The area itself is nice and peaceful with restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The hotel is an old townhouse with delightful characteristics like a wee bit crooked staircase upstairs. Our room in second floor had views to Arthur's seat. The room was spacious, clean and it had socomfy bed we didn't wnat to get up in the morning. They serve á la carte breakfast which was phenomenal, I had scrambled eggs and Scottish smoked salmon on English muffin and it was absolutely delicious! The owners were super friendly, eager to help with everything their guests needed assistance with. Hopefully we will return some day, as a few days in beautiful Edinburgh isn't enough.

My initial impression kerbside where underwhelming - in fact I drove past the hotel twice in the dark. However when I checked out I had come to appreciate the care and attention the owners had provided. My room was small but very well equipped. The breakfast was beyond 5 star in service, choice and quality. Other than the weird council restrictions on street parking and the rather precipitous stairs the stay was memorable. Would I return there, yes absolutely. Great service and attention to detail trumps a parking hassle and steep stairs for me.

Lovely room, very easy to find, free weekend street parking right outside the door. Staff were all incredibly friendly, the breakfast was lovely. Bit of a trek from the main town area, but the very regular bus goes from 100m away straight to all the main bits so ideally located.

This metro hotel was one of our best experiences in Scotland. Kevin and Susan, thw owners, do a remarkable job at making you feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional every morning, seeved by Kevin himself, along with laughs a plenty. Susan was happy to do a load of laundry for us (service fee, of course), and she was even kind enough to loan me SuperGlue to make a repair on my travel wallet. The evening staff was wonderful, always helpful and talkative if you wanted to chat. The room (2) was comfortable and spacious, and the shower was amazing. I cannot say enough good things.

As a solo traveler without a car I very much enjoyed my stay. So convenient to public transportation, walkable to Arthur’s Seat. Lovely owners really made me feel welcome. It’s an older property but felt very cozy. I would stay again if I’m ever back in the area.

A very friendly and comfortable family hotel. Great breakfast choices and cheerful service. Plenty of buses into Edinburgh at very low rates. Plenty of places to eat, try the Old Bell Inn if you can get a table. Very close to Arthur's Seat. Packed lunches available if you plan a day out. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Very helpful hosts. Having a bar helped pass our time waiting for taxi. Great choice at breakfast and was delicious. Handy location for buses into town, if you dont do taxi's.

The hotel is a little gem, tucked away near the base of Arthur's Seat. We only stayed for one night, but we can honestly say it was a brilliant experience! The staff-member at reception was incredibly friendly (and so was his awesome dog), and he helped us get reacquainted with the ins-and-outs of Edinburgh. The room was clean and meticulously kept, with complimentary tea and biscuits, and bottled water (which was welcome after hours on the train). The cooked vegetarian breakfast was perfect, and we got a chance to meet the owner – he was incredibly friendly and helpful, and he clearly pours a lot of love and care into making sure everybody is taken care of. We will definitely be back in the future, what a great experience! (p.s. when you stay at the hotel and meet that awesome dog, throw the ball, she is deaf and that little ball is her world!)

Excellent small independent hotel. My single room was clean and nice for a short stay. Breakfast was included and was excellent. The proprietors were very helpful and friendly. It's easy to get to Edinburgh city centre by bus from the main road round the corner. Overall an excellent place to stay.

How refreshing to stay in a friendly, family run small hotel rather than a faceless chain hotel. We had two adjacent rooms and both were spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The shower was amazing - could have stayed in there for hours! Both rooms were very quiet with no noise from traffic or anything else. Breakfast was delicious- freshly cooked to order. The owners were lovely people - friendly and helpful. Would most definitely recommend this hotel. Location was good too- with good transport links if you didn’t have a car.

I have been In Edinburgh many times, but this is the nicest and best hotel I have been In! We slept so well because of good beds and pillows and no noise from outside. The shower was exellent. The breakfast was perfect with many choices. We stayed Five nights, and I hope We can come back another time. The people who works In the hotel is very kind. A lot of buses to city centre around the corner. Only negative was the wifi.

This hotel was so quaint and cozy! My room had a beautiful view of Arthur’s seat. The owners and staff were so welcoming and lovely. Great location on a quiet street.The hotel is located 3 minutes from a bus stop and you can get directly to the city center in 15 mins or less. This was nice to get away from the crowds during Fringe and still have access to get around easily. Breakfast and the breakfast bar each morning was great!

Set just off the main road that provides access to frequent buses and is quiet. The hotel room and beds were comfortable and bathroom excellent. The breakfast was tasty and the owners welcoming and helpful.

Very accommodating and friendly stay with my Son. Good value too as Edinburgh prices seem to have been surging. Only small down side was the Wi-Fi was a bit intermittent.

The welcome was outstanding and the gentleman at reception helped us in any way he could. He booked us a restaurant for dinner, gave us plug adapters and umbrellas. The rooms where well equipped and the beds very comfortable. I'll definitely be back next time I am in Edinburgh. Superb value for money.

Great little hotel just south of the main area. Buses a quick walk (2 blocks). Kevin and Susan are great hosts and go out of their way to help. I left something on a bus and Kevin made arrangements to pick it up and send it to me in the US. And the breakfast is also wonderful.

Such a wonderful place to stay in Edinburgh. We were two weary international travellers who were warmly greeted and allowed to leave our luggage while we went for breakfast and awaited our room being ready. We were very grateful to be allowed to check in earlier than planned. Breakfast was very good. Really wonderful hospitality and accommodation, highly recommend.

Great service and excellent breakfast. Close to the city and accessible with bus. Even provided laundry service for a very reasonable price. Staff were excellent and very helpful.

The staff and the food were both exceptional. It is a beautiful, quiet hotel that is very personal and cozy. It is a ways from city center but is close to a bus stop that will get you anywhere you want in the city.

Kelly and Kevin were both very welcoming and helpful and kind and funny. They gave us many helpful tips and their guidance greatly improved our experience. The breakfast was delicious and our room was lovely. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ceilidh-donia.

Lovely place in quiet neighbourhood but still close to the centre and lots of buses! Kevin and the family and staff are humourous and helpful, and we would really recommend the place regardless of travel type or situation.

Lovely room, very easy to find, free weekend street parking right outside the door. Staff were all incredibly friendly, the breakfast was lovely. Bit of a trek from the main town area, but the very regular bus goes from 100m away straight to all the main bits so ideally located.

As a solo traveler without a car I very much enjoyed my stay. So convenient to public transportation, walkable to Arthur’s Seat. Lovely owners really made me feel welcome. It’s an older property but felt very cozy. I would stay again if I’m ever back in the area.

Great experience for 3 night stay. Hotel lovely and Hosts excellent. Great breakfast choice and plenty for everyone. Ideal location for visiting Edinburgh. Would highly recommend.

This hotel was so quaint and cozy! My room had a beautiful view of Arthur’s seat. The owners and staff were so welcoming and lovely. Great location on a quiet street.The hotel is located 3 minutes from a bus stop and you can get directly to the city center in 15 mins or less. This was nice to get away from the crowds during Fringe and still have access to get around easily. Breakfast and the breakfast bar each morning was great!

Set just off the main road that provides access to frequent buses and is quiet. The hotel room and beds were comfortable and bathroom excellent. The breakfast was tasty and the owners welcoming and helpful.

We had a great little getaway in Edinburgh and our choice of the hotel was perfect. Quiet residential area with excellent bus connections to city centre and Leith, bus stops are literally around corner. The area itself is nice and peaceful with restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The hotel is an old townhouse with delightful characteristics like a wee bit crooked staircase upstairs. Our room in second floor had views to Arthur's seat. The room was spacious, clean and it had socomfy bed we didn't wnat to get up in the morning. They serve á la carte breakfast which was phenomenal, I had scrambled eggs and Scottish smoked salmon on English muffin and it was absolutely delicious! The owners were super friendly, eager to help with everything their guests needed assistance with. Hopefully we will return some day, as a few days in beautiful Edinburgh isn't enough.

From the moment we walked in the staff was so welcoming and accommodating. Any questions we had they were ready to answer and any issues we had they were available to help. The breakfast was phenomenal, it was legit like a restaurant with full service not your typical continental breakfast. I would definitely go back!

Excellent service! It felt like meeting new friends. The business is family-owned and operated, adding a warm, personal touch. Their service is extremely awesome with complimentary Ala carte hot breakfast and buffet continental breakfast. We would come back again to visit them and for family stay. Thank you for the great service! One of the memorable day we had in Scotland was staying in your place.

We had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the breakfast which was one of the best we have ever had - from made to order options like a full Scottish breakfast to eggs benedict to porridge and pastries, yoghurt and fruit. A nice way to start off our day. Good location near public transportation and several nice restaurants within walking distance including the Prestonfield golf course restaurant with a lovely view of Arthur's seat. Well maintained and very welcoming with very helpful staff and owners Kevin and Susan. We loved the peace, quiet, comfy beds and Victorian charm that awaited us when we returned from a busy day. There are 2 rooms on the main floor with the others up stairs. We would recommend this hotel and if we return to Edinburgh would certainly stay here again.

Os atendentes são bastante prestativos e simpáticos. Ficamos em um quarto no segundo andar que apresentava um cheiro desagradável vindo do banheiro em todos os dias da estadia. Apesar do tempo ameno, o quarto estava quente por bater o sol diretamente. Não há ar condicionado. As escadas são uma dificuldade, mas te ajudam a levar as malas. O café da manhã é simples. O hotel fica a cerca de 2km do centro da cidade, mas há transporte fácil e próximo.
