No onsite parking although 2 pay and display car parks directly behind the hotel. We were kindly upgraded to a family room which was spacious and had crockery, cutlery and glasses plus a microwave. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Less than 5 minute walk to restaurants and Gloucester Quays and 10 minute walk to the cathedral.

This is a period hotel which has been completely refurbished, on the pedestrianised centre. There is a very peaceful courtyard at the rear, and rooms are better appointed than at Travelodge or Premier Inn. There is a council multi-storey car park at the rear, which charges £8 per day. My room had a proper fridge and a micro-wave. The courtyard could be much improved by having window boxes at ground floor windows, with geraniums. These cost little, are low maintenance, and would dramatically improve the appearance.

The hotel was good and it's location is excellent, however no lift and narrow winding corridors are not conducive to an elderly patron. The single bed mattress while adequate was lumpy in places and uncomfortable.

Historic hotel situated in convenient area for walking around shopping and to the cathedral. Adjacent buildings preserved and mix with the modern. Only negative is the inconvenient and expensive offsite parking. Staff was extremely helpful.

Great value for money. The hotel is being refurbished. My room was spotless. The mattress is comfy (though the pillows weren’t too comfortable). New TV, a kettle with tea/coffee well laid out. A microwave oven with a few plates to use for good, was a welcome addition. Receptionist George is friendly and welcoming. I am pleasantly surprised.

The reality is very different from the pictures listed online ! My room was terribly small, cold, dirty, with an uncomfortable small bed which was terrible for my back pain. When I finally fell asleep the pigeons woke me up!! Such an annoying noise. there are solutions for that if the hotel is interested in receiving better reviews

Overall, the New County Hotel offers value for money if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in the city center. Unfortunately there was an issue with our booking (no fault whatsoever of the hotel,) which may have left us stranded, but the staff on the check in desk were super helpful in finding us an available room. Check in was simple, a reception desk as you walk into the venue, or alternatively, instructions to check in at the bar. Unfortunately due to the booking error, we did end up on the 3rd floor which is incredibly hot (again, no fault of the hotel, and this unusual British weather....) and it is worth noting, there is no elevator access. If you are staying in the rooms that are street facing, there is some noise from local pubs. Cleanliness was great. The rooms are cleaned to a good standard, and we had fresh towels replenished as needed. We would absolutely stay here again.

I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but I’m glad I booked anyway. The service was tip top from everyone I met. The place smelled of fresh paint. My room was very clean and bathroom shower looked new. I was in Room 15 and it overlooked a courtyard, so was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. I would stay here again.

I have to say we were really disappointed with our stay at the new County Hotel here in Gloucestershire. From the moment we arrived, there was a mix-up with our booking, which was eventually sorted out, but that was just the beginning of our frustrations. The room itself was quite disappointing—paint peeling and plaster patchy on the walls, which gave it a neglected feel. The internet didn’t work at all during our stay, adding to the frustration. It all felt a bit shambolic, especially considering the hotel has clearly put some effort into making the place look nice from the outside and in the booking process. On the plus side, the room did have a microwave and a fridge, which is uncommon in the UK and a small convenience. However, overall, the standard of the place was just not worth the £99 we paid. It’s a real letdown, and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you're prepared for a bit of a rough stay. So, I’d advise you to think long and hard before booking this hotel, especially if a comfortable, well-maintained room is important to you.

The staff were very helpful allocating me a room at short notice as for some reason there was an error when I booked through Expedia. However, the room was in desperate need to decoration- peeling wallpaper/ damp, old furniture and stained walls. The room was opposite a taxi rank so I was woken up at 3.30 am. A shame as I had stayed at this hotel and previously been allocated a much nicer/ newer/ quieter room. I didn’t complain as the staff were accommodating.

The room key didn’t work first time around, the room was very warm, no air-con, window only opened slightly. Fan was provided, but a blade was damaged, so it was very noisy, asked for another, they said they would get back to me, never did. Room was clean and well presented. The drink cost is extortionate, we asked why and they laughed saying we’re a hotel, so we can charge hotel prices. £11 for a large glass of red wine. The bar was practically empty on a Saturday night.

Room was clean but the bed was like sleeping on the floor. We checked out after one night and we wernt offered another room or cashback, a sorry would have helped. The room was C19. We stay there frequesntly and although the bbeds aren't the best, this was by far the worst. Needs replacing.

The room was large, the bed was comfortable. I was at the back on the courtyard so it was quiet but my friends were above the high street and could hear every drunken shouting match on a Saturday night at 3am so had a poor night's sleep. They should improve the windows to reduce noise. My room was fine only issue was there was hand wash in the shower as shower gel?!

Room was OK for price paid but bed uncomfortable - old mattress, sink into it, squeaked every time I moved. Poor nights sleep, not helped by shower dripping all night despite tap being turned off.

The apartment was really nice and spacious, ideal for a party of four. Modern furniture and design, good kitchen facilities and good for couples looking to stay sort or long term. Right in the middle of the town so it is a very good location, but can get quite loud at night. Had to have the windows open because it was a warm night so I could hear noises and sirens outside. Ideal for trips like Cheltenham or RIAT, would stay again.

The wifi only worked if you were standing right by the open window, climate control didn’t work at all, TV has fuzzy signal on all channels (staff seemed aware of this with no suggestions), fridge doesn’t stay on when you leave the room as they will only give one key and the shower drain was so blocked that you could only run the water in 90 second increments before it would overflow the basin.

Check in was easy and the staff were lovely. First impressions of our room was that it was great, good amenities and clean. However when we went to go to bed later on and we found the curtains on one window were not long enough to cover the bottom of the window so didn’t keep the light out. The bed was also broken and dipped in on both sides. We went to reception who offered us another room but the bed in there was very low and was smaller which we weren’t happy with so chose to stick it out with the broken bed and used some towels to pad it out. I guess we only paid £59 for the night so they may say you get what you pay for but we would have been much better off somewhere else. Also the music outside is very loud and ends around midnight so it is tricky to sleep before this time.

I needed to contact the hotel prior to arrival, this was impossible. No one would answer the phone despite trying several times. The room we were provided didn’t come with any of the amenities described upon booking. They did though provide us with a room with a fridge and microwave after complaining. This room was nice enough. The hotel itself is nice however all in all, it was a bad experience

Stayed with my wife, the hotel was ran by one man who was very busy but super friendly and very helpful. He would go above and beyond for us. The hotel itself needs some TLC it's a bit cluttered and untidy. The room was clean and what we needed but the drainage in the shower was really bad.

The staff couldn't be any nicer, my room hadn't been cleaned and I was upgraded at no cost. I've stayed here a few times now and can't fault the staff, so friendly, caring and willing to help. Deserve a pay rise. Thank you

No onsite parking although 2 pay and display car parks directly behind the hotel. We were kindly upgraded to a family room which was spacious and had crockery, cutlery and glasses plus a microwave. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Less than 5 minute walk to restaurants and Gloucester Quays and 10 minute walk to the cathedral.

The room key didn’t work first time around, the room was very warm, no air-con, window only opened slightly. Fan was provided, but a blade was damaged, so it was very noisy, asked for another, they said they would get back to me, never did. Room was clean and well presented. The drink cost is extortionate, we asked why and they laughed saying we’re a hotel, so we can charge hotel prices. £11 for a large glass of red wine. The bar was practically empty on a Saturday night.

Strange smell on entry to the hotel, but the room was nice, clean and had a fridge and microwave. Bed very confortable and shower was great. No breakfast was available but as its city centre there are cafes nearby. The car park is a public one and we managed to get a space, which cost about £12 I think. Do adding that to the cost of the room and with buying a breakfast does make it quite expensive compared to hotels like Holiday Inn, but they are not city centre. I would stay here again as the location is great if you are visiting Gloucester .

Mitten in der City ist die Lage des Hotels hervorragend. Vom Bahnhof zu Fuß sind es 10/15 Minuten. Staff (Rezeption) ist sehr freundlich und jederzeit zu einem angenehmen Plausch bereit. Das wars dann auch mit dem Lob. Der Rest ist Durchschnitt, mehr nicht. Während meines Aufenthaltes (7 Nächte) würde das Zimmer nicht einmal gereinigt. Am vorletzten Tag gab es frische Handtücher und Toilettenpapier, finito! Dusche sehr gut, Toilette eher was für schlanke Menschen. Bett anders als auf dem Foto...geht so.

Lovely place, staff was very helpful and great location. Sadly wemt during a heatwave and the rooms dont have aircon, so sadly was roadting slowly in the room. Would recommend the company to install aircon, if more hot weather is going to be the norm. The staff were lovely and provided more fans to try and keep cool. The hotel was lovely and great location, would recommend people stay here, just needs a bit of modernising. Sadly Gloucester is not a town I think I would visit again, during the day it was nice and the historical sites pretty cool, with a modern dock. At night, however the town is a different story, junkies/ crackheads everywhere. I am not one to judge someones personal background but it was not pleasant and not somewhere to take children in the evening.

Clean room but was woken up at 3am by about 50 pigeons on the flat roof right outside my window. Subsequently kept awake from then on by the most horrendous racket. Guessing it was their nesting spot! Avoid room 8. Really tired room but in all honesty for a one night work stop over it had all I needed apart from the fact that the shower was hard work when you don’t actually want to get your hair wet and the towels are literally half the size of a normal one. Luckily I have been on Mounjaro for the last year so that was ok. WiFi really good, able to sign into your own apps so tv was great. Handy fridge in room. Noisy hotel, take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Definitely not a destination hotel but great for all I needed so can’t fault it in that respect. I’d return when working in Gloucester again.
