Fitzherbert Court Motel

First time to stay here, we welcomed well, did wonder why what we were told was "our" car park was on our return from being out was given to a client with a boat!! but hey, Rugby was good.

Our unit (living+kitchen, bedroom and a toilet) is at the corner of the property and it is very spacious, clean and comfortable. The place is easy to find and there is allocated parking in front of our unit. Place is quiet and we enjoyed staying there. We wish the wifi would be better as we can't get connected or good speed on it. Maybe far from the wifi source due to the location of this unit.

Our apartment was modern, clean, quiet and well equipped. The service was excellent and parking at the front door was very convenient. We liked the location and really appreciated the salt and pepper sachets and heated towel rack. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We loved our stay in Hokitika which was enhanced by our great accomodation.

Clean, very easy, cooker, fridge, good parking Could do with some side lamps/ so not have full glare of main lights.

👍 Like my review! We had an overnight night stay at Fitzherbert Court Motel in Hokitika, New Zealand as part of our journey across the country. We chose this place as a stopover due to the vibrant downtown, nearby beach (including its gorgeous sunset), Hokitika gorge, glow worms, and free parking. The checkin process was very smooth with our assigned room #9 and allocated parking space. The room was clean and spacious, bed and pillows were comfortable, jacuzzi bathtub had a shower, separate toilet room was convenient, the bathroom ventilation fan and towel warmer were nice, internet was optimal, outlets throughout and near the end of the bed were useful for charging, and several amenities (e.g. instant coffee, French press coffee grounds, tea, provided fresh milk, kettle, toaster, cutlery, utensils, cookware, microwave, stovetop, fridge, iron and ironing board) were helpful. The toiletries were simple with a soap bar and hair shampoo conditioner. They also provided an on-site laundromat and continental breakfast for a fee but the luggage hold after checkout was complimentary! There were a few things that could be improved in the room (e.g. loose cabinet screws, missing painting, tears on the curtain) but it did not bother us much because we needed a comfortable place to sleep. For example, the room was far away from the main street allowing some peace and quiet after a long day. Overall, we would be open to staying here again and would recommend it to our friends and family.

We got a free upgrade to one room studio. Kitchenette fully equipped and reasonably clean. Staff is good and location is convenient.

Bed needs replacing as you can see the dip in the mattress. Shower over the bathtub is very inconvenient, especially for those with knee, hip issues, and for short people especially as the handle hold is temporary and moves when you use it. Injuries may result

Absolute awful, couldn’t stop itching in the bed and property backs onto train tracks and from 5:30am we not only had the train sounding his horn but it actually vibrated the room when it went past. Receptionist was also quite unwelcoming.

Spacious!

Ok, but room right by railway line and train woke us at 6am. Room not serviced although room compendium suggested it would be. Spacious but needed extra cushions on the sofas to be comfortable.

Just what we needed for a stopover, wish we had had time to stay another night but we didn’t sadly. Comfortable, well equipped and good location.

Close to airport and glowworm dell. Walkable to town centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. Having guest laundry was nice.

From checking in, the lady was lovely and very helpful. Our room was very spacious and covered all our needs even though we were only for one night.

When we checked in at the hotel, nobody was at the reception. I pressed the bell several times. No one responded. Then I saw a note pasted on the door. Signed off ‘Karen’ ‘I am behind room 1 cooking’. The note also left a phone number I can reach. I went to room 1 and vicinity but nobody was there. I called the number but was greeted w a voice recording. I left my name saying I was waiting already for 15 min and no one attended to me. In the end after 30 mins of waiting by me and my frustrated friends, Karen appeared with a paint brush apparently painting some part of the hotel, oblivious to the fact that someone could have been there waiting to check in while she was missing. When she appeared, and my friends told her we have been waiting for 30 mins, she offered no apologies. I have travelled across the world for the past 3-4 decades and have checked in in many hotels and motels of all sorts but this is the one and only time the hotel kept me waiting for so long to check in !!

Nice and clean property that is on the main road into the town. About 20 mins walk to centre of town. The rooms were quite and don't didn't hear other guests while we stayed.

Wonderfully located right on SH6 only several blocks from the beach (great sunsets) and to town for shopping and meals. Very comfortable room. Noise from toad can be blocked by closing the windows and blinds. Very comfortable place.

Nice spacious one bedroom apartment with plenty of room. Clean, comfortable, warm and included everything needed for a short stay. Property is situated on the main road, though our room was toward the back so only minor noise from the road. A bit of a walk (around 10 minutes) to the town centre shops, cafes and restaurants. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Enjoyed our stay. Very close to Glow-Worm Dell and a easy quick drive to shopping, restaurants and the beach.

Lovely location, almost on the beach and the mountains in the distance.

We booked this motel as it said it had air conditioning. It did not! Fortunately it was a cooler night so we managed. Noise from road. Location a short walk to town.

The motel was in a good location however it was closed to the road and the railway. The room was very adequate and well equipped.

Lovely super clean roadside Motel. Only here for 1 night unfortunately but for longer stays excellent facilities and equipment for a bit of self catering. Loved the plunger coffee. A bit noisy as it's adjacent to the major road and it's a 15 minute flat walk to town and eateries. Will definitely stay again for a few nights.

A nice suite, complete with kitchen and a big soaker tub. Easy to find, but the trade-off is that truck noise from the highway was sometimes obvious.

It was a pleasant stay for 2 nights, and a bonus that there's a wee kitchen to make bacon and eggs for breakfast :) very convenient to the glow worms and the shops the other direction. Would definitely stay there again.

Obwohl das Motel direkt am SH 6 liegt, war es nachts sehr ruhig. Auch aus den Nachbarzimmern hörten wir keine lauten Geräusche, obwohl die Unterkunft ausgebucht war. Unser Zimmer war außergewöhnlich geräumig, ebenso das Badezimmer (mit Whirlpool). Alles war sehr sauber und ordentlich. Das Frühstück wurde auf Bestellung am Abend vorher nach Wunsch zusammengestellt. Auch hier stimmte das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und verabschiedet. Check-in und -out verliefen schnell und komplikationslos. Alles war sehr angenehm.

Excellent place to stay. A full kitchen with oven. Very spacious.

Our two bedroom apartment was very large and would easily accommodate a family of 5. The kitchen was well equipped although some of the pots weren't clean and needed to be washed before our use. Good location within walking distance of town and also the glow worm dell. Would stay again.
