Parking great, lobby and reception floor stunning, gym and pool lovely. When you go to the room and the rooms themselves, that's where to hotel let's people down. The bathrooms and lovely, great shower and soap and shampoo dispensers. The rooms though, dated, old style, not spacious if having a family if 4 in. The TV channels are strange also. As you browse from 1 to the max, you come across Adult channels mixed in with "normal" channels. Not great if your kids can read and doesn't feel right. They should be at the end and locked so kids can get in.

We enjoyed a lot in the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. My son was very happy a well deserved Easter break!! Thanks to entire staff who were very helpful and supportive!!

heard snoring from the adjacent room as there is no adequate acoustic insulation which affected our sleep. also the bathroom flush was temperamental. Also the parking lot is not surfaced properly and twisted my ankle as well. The cleanliness was good.

Always a great experience here. Regularly stay here for work and the location is quiet, which is great after a long day. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable and the amenities available are great. Bar prices are higher than I’d expect for being in the North, but the quality and selection available is great. The swimming pool is quite small, but serves a purpose and has a hot tub which is a bonus.

Excellent value for money, use of the gym, pool and sauna was a lovely bonus. Courteous and helpful staff. Meal deals were good value and food quality was good. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

The room smelt awful, the loo roll was cheap single ply rubbish (the loo roll is often a reflection of the quality of the accommodation in my humble opinion). The breakfast was good, location good, car parking was plentiful. For what it cast it was OK, nothing special.

First of all, the staff I encountered were excellent and my evening meal was great. The room was not so good. Only one power socket working, so no TV. No heating. Room and bathroom were tiny. Bathroom not as clean as it could be, signs of mould and the room smelled damp (possibly due to faulty air con?)

Heating in the room was terrible and couldnt be controlled easily. Radiator was off most the night (seemingly controlled centrally or on timers) so freezing cold even with the horrible hot air heater on maximum when the radiators came on the room went from freezing to uncomfortably warm. Food is very overpriced and not good. It's crazy delivery food is far cheaper with delivery apps for large meals for the same price as a single main meal. Seems to be mostly for trade and so the car park can be a bit of a nightmare with all the vans or oversized vehicles in a tight car park. Managed to get parked every night but it was not full. The general cleanliness was questionable too, my tea cup had lipstick on it so clearly not swapped out and just wiped over or rinsed out between guests. The bathroom had a few stray hairs too in the corners of the shower. Iron shot out that horrible white limescale too so had to iron using a spare tshirt to stop it marking the clothes I wanted to wear, so this need some attention too.

From.original booking was a pain booked for 15th nov. Systerm gliched changing to 16th nov. After a week of back and forth hotels.com.& holiday inn eventually changed to original required date. At no extra charge.on arrival.at holiday inn runcorn was greated by a car park full of.potholes.. upon checking in was told there was an afditional fee to pay. Nope there wasnt. Given room.326. Upon getting in looked like they gave us the cheapest room in the hotel. Stains on the walls around the toilet. Was 1st thing we noticed. Upon entering the rest.of room. Noticed massive stains on the carpet. Holes in the wall. Light fittings hanging loose. ..bed was very uncomfortable old fashioned on legs and casters. Upon laying on the bed you felt like it was gonna fall apart. Sofa bed was a single.bed. not a sofa bed as stated by hotel which was just as uncomfortable as the main bed. Pillows.very lumpy. Rips on.the sides of the bed. And then at 10.30pm on the coldest night of the year the heater and radiators in the room didnt.work. upon leaving on sunday was again told there was an additional fee to pay. Worst stay and experience we.ve had and probably last time.we will.use holiday inn and.hotels.com

Nice place but the room needed a update, door in the bathroom was worn and tatty (424), controls in the shower missing a part and slow running shower. Duvet not clean. Our telephone in the room didn’t work either.We order two meals, the first one took approximately 40 minutes for a burger which was Luke warm when it arrived, the macaroni was lovely and didn’t take very long though.

We had booked to stay for 2 nights, myself, my husband and our 2 boys aged 2 years and 2 months. Our room consisted of a double bed and a sofa bed. Neither of which appropriate for a 2 month old baby - a cot should have been provided. However, the room was that small, there wasn’t any room for a cot. The only place my 2 year old could play was under the pull out bed which is completely dangerous but he wasn’t left with much of a choice. The room itself was disgusting and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The windows were covered in cobwebs on both the inside and the outside. The curtain had a brown stain on it, the ceiling was covered in damp that had been painted over and all the lampshades were stained. How do you expect anyone to stay in this room never mind 2 small children. The base of the double bed was ripped and falling apart and the pull out bed was cheap and you could feel the metal frame when laid on it. There was a floor lamp that stood on a tilt as it was broken and if knocked it would have just fallen over potentially landing on small children. The staff were very accommodating however and arranged a transfer to a different hotel.

Hotel looks dated outside, however the inside was generally very nice, lots of lounge seats, and nice atmosphere. The rooms were a little small, and the beds were standard double and not particularly comfortable… but adequate. The only thing I would say is that although generally a good standard. there were a few areas of the hotel that were tatty, and would not take much to put right (chunks of paint out of doorways, and the lift area for example).

Excellent checkin quick with very friendly staff. Good bar area and snacks. Room was okay, quite small but clean however two things let down the comfort of our stay, firstly the room was very warm in the evening and the thermostats is centrally set so couldn’t alter. Secondly we had a room facing the car park and the noise started very early with vans turning and cleaning which disturbed our sleep. Breakfast was very good lots of choice and tasted good. All in all a good stay but would ask for a quieter room next time facing the lawn.

Staff were lovely and friendly but the room we stayed in was far too small for two adults and a nine year old, there was no space between the sofa bed and double bed which meant it was very difficult for my husband to get out of bed without disturbing both myself and my daughter. The hotel would be better off putting a single bed right up against the window and advertising it as a triple room as the sofa bed did not fit. The edges of the sofa bed also looked very grubby. Cooked Breakfast was good on the whole but the coffee machine didn't work for the whole of our stay was disappointing. They had also run out of muesli, crunchy nut cornflakes etc so not the usual holiday inn variety.

The bed was old and uncomfortable. The pillows were like bags of mini potatoes. Premier Inn for me next time. Good job it was a super cheap deal.

Staff were lovely and welcoming on arrival and explained where our room was. Upon getting to our room, our TV was smashed from pervious people staying. Complained to reception who gave us a new TV, however, the remote didn’t work and we had 2 channels to watch which still wasn’t watchable as it kept loosing signal. Finally the bed was tiny and very uncomfortable. Other than that, was a nice hotel

Bed was fine but the sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable. Also travelling with a 5yo and 3yo, they are asleep early. There’s an expectation that hotels are equipped with a smart tv or at least decent WiFi. We had neither so would not recommend this place if you are planning to spend the evening in your room. Despite the bad night of sleep and nothing to do in the evening, the hotel staff were friendly, the pool was perfect for an afternoon and food was good with free kids meals too.

Staff were absolutely fabulous. Couldnt fault any of them. So friendly and go above and beyond for guests. Only thing was the room designed for a family was tiny. Not much space for 3 of us and suitcases. Could do with ramps out the front for guests with heavy suitcases rather than just steps.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we found no one at the reception to check us in. After about five minutes, a staff member finally arrived, quickly processed our check-in, and assigned us a room. However, the room, labeled as a family room, was extremely small and outdated. While it appeared clean, it was difficult to be certain given the worn and aged furniture and fixtures. On a positive note, breakfast was excellent, offering a wide selection of options. After breakfast, we returned to our room, intending to check out by the noon deadline. However, at around 11:30 am, the cleaning staff knocked on our door, asking to clean the room, which forced us to rush packing and proceed to checkout. On our journey home, about three hours later, we realized my daughter had left something in the room. We immediately called the hotel and were informed that the item would either be placed in lost property or sent to the laundry. I was told to call back the next morning to arrange for its retrieval. When I called the next day, I spoke to a different staff member who assured me they would contact housekeeping and call me back, but that call never came. Two days later, I called again and was given the same response: the item was probably with the laundry, and I would receive a call back. This, too, never happened. After several more days and multiple follow-up calls, I was promised a call back from a manager, which, unsurprisingly, also did not occur. At this point, I've given up hope of reco

second year for our annual event, absolutely fantastic service , beyond anything you would expect. Angie the manageress could not do enough and all the staff were superb. Room clean, breakfast worth every penny. Had some guests from the USA who were blown away by the level of service given, Can't reccomend highly enough

Great hotel in superb location for chester zoo. Staff were lovely, friendly and chatty. Hotel was lovely, spacious and clean and great bar area and breakfast room. Would definitely stay again. Was very impressed.

Great location to motorways. We used the pool. Good size and VERY clean. Best breakfast we’ve had at a hotel. Variety and quality was excellent. Only 2 issues we had, phone in room did t work but no big deal. Also we thought we were getting a room with a sofa bed but instead it was a camp bed. Impossible to sleep in so we ended up just putting the mattress on the floor.

Only a one night stay but suited our needs. Receptionist (didn’t get name) was brilliant on arrival and departure. Very welcoming, helpful and chatty. Room was good with all we needed. Very good breakfast and, again, staff member on entering was very pleasant and helpful. Hotel ideally located and would stay again if in that area.

Easy check in very friendly receptionist, bar staff very friendly and helpful!!! Poor meal ordered wrap and onion rings wrap came out missing rings - Barman went to chase and still 45 minutes later nothing got refund and apologies. Bathroom was dirty Other than that everything was fine

Generally great stay. Dog friendly and didnt get charged for the dog. The bed was a bit small but comfy. We had everything we needed in our room, and staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast and food in the restaurant was nice, and bonus points for "children eat for free".

Room was shabby,bathroom door would not close with kicking it.The fan in bathroom didnt work.We ordered jacket pototoe for evening meal sent them both back twice as they were uncooked,we had waited over a an hour to get our meal.The staff were run off there feet,but they did do their best.

Heating in the room was terrible and couldnt be controlled easily. Radiator was off most the night (seemingly controlled centrally or on timers) so freezing cold even with the horrible hot air heater on maximum when the radiators came on the room went from freezing to uncomfortably warm. Food is very overpriced and not good. It's crazy delivery food is far cheaper with delivery apps for large meals for the same price as a single main meal. Seems to be mostly for trade and so the car park can be a bit of a nightmare with all the vans or oversized vehicles in a tight car park. Managed to get parked every night but it was not full. The general cleanliness was questionable too, my tea cup had lipstick on it so clearly not swapped out and just wiped over or rinsed out between guests. The bathroom had a few stray hairs too in the corners of the shower. Iron shot out that horrible white limescale too so had to iron using a spare tshirt to stop it marking the clothes I wanted to wear, so this need some attention too.

Hotel is great big free carpark available. lounge area is nice QR code table service available , room was clean , pool was nice though sat afternoon was busy with kids all gone by 6 if you prefer it quicker, only negative was the evening meal not good at all and expensive

We have half board book. Breakfast was pretty basic but you still have chance to choose something. Dinner was absolutely awful,still half frozen and taste disgusting. Over Christmas was the same dinner each night,on the end we ended up having dinners outside because we could get food poisoning

Used HI as a base to visit Liverpool/Manchester/Knowsley Safari Park & The Lake District. Best ever breakfast with a very extensive range of food options, in fact it’s the best breakfast experience from a UK hotel that we’ve been to, you won’t go hungry, it literally filled us up way past lunchtime. They do very tasty Omelettes, with different fillings, which set us up for the day. All the staff at Runcorn have been very helpful & accommodating. Special to mention to Bek, Phil & all the team in the restaurant, especially at breakfast time. Thanks Phil for your ideas of where to go & recommendations, your customer service was exceptional. Bek, thanks for everything you did for us & the welfare of the guests during the technical fault with the alarms, which didn’t hinder our evening. We came up for my Fiancées birthday for a long weekend & thoroughly enjoyed each day & to come back to a welcoming hotel, was the icing on the cake. Great stay for the budget! I think it must have been fairly recently renovated. The reception/bar area was lovely, nice seating and great atmosphere. The front desk staff were really lovely, 5* service! The room was quite small if I compare it to other budget hotels but again still good for the budget. The bed was a double, my partner and I are used to bigger so that was hard to adjust to but wouldn't be a problem for everyone. There is 24/7 room service which was great as we arrived at 8pm and needed food. The food was great as well! A tip: order a kids burger and you will get the same as an adult portion for half the price! Also, plenty of parking, great breakfast (£12pp if ordered before the morning you want to eat), didn't use the swimming/gym facilities but they are free for guests.

This is a lovely hotel with free parking and breakfast included. The rooms are very small but we knew that. Bathroom is very small. The lobby is nice. Breakfast is good but the coffee machine did not work and they run out of food so go early. Swimming pool is lovely! Dinner was excellent. But the rooms and corridors need refurbishing, paint is peeling everywhere. But overall a nice experience and would stay again.

Arrived with three children had requested rooms together due to young children in advance , on arrival was told not possible after pointing out the original agreed request was told it had been changed however when we got to the room different ends of corridor so no where near each other ! Tried to play snooker out of order swimming pool - lucas’s and sauna out of order, breakfast run out of big plates and no coffee as was broken machine bar no straws and beer coke run out very disappointing stay particularly as i h g member and stayed stockport week before totally different experience .

I'm from Runcorn originally and have always sour our visitors staying here as I considered it to be the best in the area, now I live out the country so decided to book it to stay myself when home visiting, I've stayed here for weddings and such many years ago. This hotel is so run down in terms of the room(first floor room) So depressing I ended up cutting the stay short and using a sofa at a family members home for the last night. One of the worst aspects was the breakfast, of the four mornings I was there for breakfast I went in between 07:30 and 08:30am each day, one day no butter at all, one day only flora, and one day a block of butter to be shared, with no hygiene protocols in place, it was filthy. Such a shame on the Holiday Inn to let this hotel go to ruin like this, the staff deserve better.
