Booked a small double. It was miles away from main hotel not served by a lift so lucky we had only small luggage. Elderly would definitely struggle. Not clear at booking. Room was minute and cramped rather than small but that was not a major issue for us. It would be for the larger person. Main problem was complete lack of WIFI. Called reception to report this to be informed there had never been any complaints before so tough luck basically. The network the receptionist suggested wasn't even coming up as available. Same story on 3 different devices. I asked to move room but was dismissed. Called a while later to be told the matter was 'being looked into'. No apology and no update was given. A totally miserable night and very poor customer service. My teenage son was amused by the antics of the couple next door as the walls are very thin - there is really no privacy. Ladies at the beauty salon were very helpful and fitted me in for a last- minute manicure. There is a charge to use leisure facilities which is fair enough but was not clear at time of booking.

On arrival cfm 'd my booking of cosy double. Gave room number and key and directed to follow the signs. What I wasn't expecting was the journey to the basement and service area involving 6 flights of stairs, double & single doors and long corridors. Room itself was small clean and compact but suitable for our stay. We spoke to reception about our disappointment that evening, but were basically told we'd purchased a cosy double saud yes but i wasnt aware it was in the basement! Really would recommend as dampened our experience of this hotel and won't be staying again. Also note the rooms ARE NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE and anyone mobility compromised may find it difficult to get to your room. Advise to contact and let them know. Won't let me upload pics

The room was noisy and totally unacceptable. Directly opposite lift and could hear whirring noises all night long. Also directly above gym with pressure releases every so often really loud aswell. Hortific few days.

I booked a standard double room however when i got there they told me they had none of those rooms available and placed me in a room with no windows. This room was in a secluded part of the hotel and had no aircon so the room was absolutely boiling. I've stayed here many times before and never had an issue with the comfort of the beds however this room was extremely uncomfortable i had no sleep as the bed and pillows were like rocks and the room was red hot. I received no refund even though i payed more money for my original room and the room i was placed in was cheaper.

The room I had was tiny and a good 10 minute walk - to the basement- away from reception. I’ve stayed in this hotel many times, and although it’s a bit dated now, its always been a pleasant stay. It looked like they have converted either old offices or storage space into bedrooms. The room was just about ok for one person and the bathroom was decent enough but not sure they have done much with sound proofing as I could here next door quite loudly. One of the attractions of the hotel is being able to use the pool and the gym, but that’s now chargeable (£7.50 for a day pass) The equipment in the gym was either not working, absent or really out of date. Sorry to say but I’ll probably stay at the hotel opposite which is about the same price but with a nicer bar & restaurant.
