The Vivanta is undergoing slow renovations so it’s not fair to make this a review of the hotel as a whole. It’s just the first room I was assigned was a throwback to the 1970s and with the mold in the bathroom attesting to the passing of decades. I was moved to another room which was somewhat more from our own time. But then the keycard reader kept locking me out so they had to reprogram it or something. Anyhow the positives: the restaurant and bar are very nice spaces with pretty good food and drink. You can walk straight out to Marine Drive walkway, which is nice being right by the sea (but also somewhat sad and smelly—I know this is supposed to be the positive part!). The water metro (ferries) is just five minutes away by foot so you can easily get to Fort Kochi for historical sightseeing and pretty good shopping and dining, it’s an amazing 6 rupees. Overall I had a relaxing time and the staff and public spaces helped with that.

They have started revamping the rooms. I stayed here earlier with old room and also in newly renovated room. Feel good factor is back. Staff and Food options were always great.

My room did have a balcony, but the doors had to be kept closed to keep the heat out and also because of mosquitos. The hotel has a beautifully tiled foyer - it must have been renovated since the image in the listing was taken. The public spaces were nice, but my room was a bit 'institutional' with very few 'comforts' and terrible lighting.

Excellent property at a great location. The hotel is located right behind the beautiful Marine Drive, which is excellent for walking. We discovered the direct access gate to the Marine drive on our second day, wish we had done it before. The staff at the reception and the room service were very polite and helpful. They helped us find a non-smoking room on a floor which had no smoking rooms, which is what we wanted. The view was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very nice, with local as well as global options with freshness and taste. We got good recommendations for transportation, shopping and sight seeing from the staff. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a good hotel if you wish to be in the central area of Kochi. The ferry to fort kochi is close at hand and you are smack on marine drive in ernakulam. The hotel gave me a room on the top floor with a harbor view as booked (so I do not think I received a complimentary upgrade). But the room was fine and had a lovely view and was in the section that has been newly renovated. But the swimming pool area had massive construction work that was noisy and made the use of the pool unpleasant. The hotel should have warned me when I booked the room but did not do so. And you cannot open the room windows which means no fresh air. That apart a good hotel, evidently transitioning to Vivanta. Ask for a room on the top two floors.

Our family had a wonderful experience at Vivanta, Kochi. We had five rooms, and each of them was meticulously clean and well-appointed. My suite had a beautiful view of water. The lobby was inviting. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous. The staff were wonderful. We had a special birthday dinner, which was made super special by the restaurant staff. Vivanta Ernakulam was outdated, the bathroom smelled like urine, there were cracks in the floor, the shower was broken and it was far from a luxury hotel. Every part of the hotel except the lobby required renovation. The breakfast buffet had old, dry stale food and everything was cold. There were also limited options. The surrounding area smelled like sewage so I do not suggest walking by the water. The staff was less than enthusiastic to help and honestly seemed snobby. I would never stay again and cannot believe we paid as much as we did for a hotel like this.

Hotel is very nice reasonably priced and lovely staff. Hygiene on arrival spoils things - pubic hair and hair in bathroom is a real downer. Towels very old and worn. Bedding excellent. Service with tv excellent- on the whole very good - and would stay again

I had to change the room I got because of the an odder in the room. The rooms are small for the price and it’s not clean to the standards of a 5 star hotel. Furniture are old and dusty.

The people/service was excellent. For a 5 star hotel it was lacking - it wasn’t clean enough throughout the room (although the bathroom was fine). Had it been 3/4 star we would have rated it higher.

Upon checkin, there were three issues: - room phone not working - Tv not working - Shower drain was blocked and water collected in the stall All items got resolved individually after asking for help! One should not have to seek assistance for all these issues. On the second night i got sick from the buffet food. Since it was a buffet I cannot identify what food item to be blamed. Took me three days to recover.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Vivanta Ernakulam. The hotel itself is set on the edge of the backwaters. The art pieces around in the hotel are spectacular. No one in the staff was able to tell me their source. The staff is simply fantastic. From the front desk, the restaurant, the room service, all the way to ushers, everyone was friendly, very helpful and attentive. A huge thanks to them for making our stay so wonderful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Vivanta Ernakulam. The hotel itself is set on the edge of the backwaters. The art pieces around in the hotel are spectacular. No one in the staff was able to tell me their source. The staff is simply fantastic. From the front desk, the restaurant, the room service, all the way to ushers, everyone was friendly, very helpful and attentive. A huge thanks to them for making our stay so wonderful.

Excellent property at a great location. The hotel is located right behind the beautiful Marine Drive, which is excellent for walking. We discovered the direct access gate to the Marine drive on our second day, wish we had done it before. The staff at the reception and the room service were very polite and helpful. They helped us find a non-smoking room on a floor which had no smoking rooms, which is what we wanted. The view was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very nice, with local as well as global options with freshness and taste. We got good recommendations for transportation, shopping and sight seeing from the staff. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Vivanta Ernakulam was outdated, the bathroom smelled like urine, there were cracks in the floor, the shower was broken and it was far from a luxury hotel. Every part of the hotel except the lobby required renovation. The breakfast buffet had old, dry stale food and everything was cold. There were also limited options. The surrounding area smelled like sewage so I do not suggest walking by the water. The staff was less than enthusiastic to help and honestly seemed snobby. I would never stay again and cannot believe we paid as much as we did for a hotel like this.

The Vivanta is undergoing slow renovations so it’s not fair to make this a review of the hotel as a whole. It’s just the first room I was assigned was a throwback to the 1970s and with the mold in the bathroom attesting to the passing of decades. I was moved to another room which was somewhat more from our own time. But then the keycard reader kept locking me out so they had to reprogram it or something. Anyhow the positives: the restaurant and bar are very nice spaces with pretty good food and drink. You can walk straight out to Marine Drive walkway, which is nice being right by the sea (but also somewhat sad and smelly—I know this is supposed to be the positive part!). The water metro (ferries) is just five minutes away by foot so you can easily get to Fort Kochi for historical sightseeing and pretty good shopping and dining, it’s an amazing 6 rupees. Overall I had a relaxing time and the staff and public spaces helped with that.

I stayed for two nights in December 2024. Very professional and courteous staff. Breakfast buffet was the best I have ever had. Every selection you could think of. I area around the hotel is great for walking and shopping. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyway staying in Kochi.

This is a good hotel if you wish to be in the central area of Kochi. The ferry to fort kochi is close at hand and you are smack on marine drive in ernakulam. The hotel gave me a room on the top floor with a harbor view as booked (so I do not think I received a complimentary upgrade). But the room was fine and had a lovely view and was in the section that has been newly renovated. But the swimming pool area had massive construction work that was noisy and made the use of the pool unpleasant. The hotel should have warned me when I booked the room but did not do so. And you cannot open the room windows which means no fresh air. That apart a good hotel, evidently transitioning to Vivanta. Ask for a room on the top two floors.

A lovely clean room, beautifully decorated. A good bathroom with rainfall shower. Every member of staff we interacted with was friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast buffet was extensive with a broad offering.

Upon checkin, there were three issues: - room phone not working - Tv not working - Shower drain was blocked and water collected in the stall All items got resolved individually after asking for help! One should not have to seek assistance for all these issues. On the second night i got sick from the buffet food. Since it was a buffet I cannot identify what food item to be blamed. Took me three days to recover.

Very Old Room, centipede roaming in room, High risk staying with kids and family, we reached by 8 PM, worst welcome.. boys at the lobby didn't care about the arrival or luggage only a senior person from the front desk tried helping with the luggage. Very lethargic behaviour,didnt expect this from a star hotel like Taj.. felt like very normal hotel stay. Nothing special.
