Tiny room, sheets had stains on and the air con was broken on the hottest day of the year and we were offered some warm canned water to make up for it.

Awful experience at this hotel- no working aircon in the room we were placed in. Staff gave us a dust filled fan to use. Uncomfortable bed and poorly maintained rooms. I will never stay at a holiday inn again.

We booked this hotel as it was advertised as having air conditioning yet upon arrival we found that both of our rooms did not and they were like a sauna - so hot with one tiny window that didn't let much air through. We were advised that there were no fans available either which meant for a very sleepless first night. On the second night we were moved to rooms that we were told had air conditioning yet upon moving one had working air con and the other didnt, but we were able to at least have a fan on this occasion. One of the rooms we were upgraded to was listed as a 'premium' room but was exactly the same as our previous non-premium room. The hotel swimming pool complex was dated and didnt look the cleanest of facilities. The hotel reception staff were very friendly though and tried to make the best of the situation.

Great breakfast variety and options for vegans. The amenities of swimming pool and sauna and fitness room are great additions which were welcomed. The location, proximity to Birmingham and motorway network and free parking was good. However the building needs renovation upgrade. The toilet in the bedroom had faulty cistern, the sink was blocked. No fridge in bedrooms and air conditioning was not working in all rooms. Lastly security was compromised with a broken side door which allowed access into the hotel day and night the duration of my stay. Which lets the hotel down. So overall a decent hotel but need to address maintenance issues to be much better

We stayed last night during a UK heatwave specifically due to its easy motorway location and simple family room with air con. We arrived around 9:30pm with two young children hoping to get them to bed fairly quickly. We were offered a drink and snack for the kids, which they loved then headed up to our room. When we got there, we realised that the sofa bed had not been made up despite us booking for four of us to stay in the room and we could not find the linens to do this ourselves or any additional towels. The room was also unbearably hot and the air con had a fault message on the screen. We called down to reception but no response so my husband went down to reception to speak to someone. The receptionist had to come herself to make up the bed and bring towels as there was no housekeeping staff to be able to help. When we asked if we could move to another room that had working air con, she said that it was a ‘hotel issue, not just our room’ but commented with shock about how ‘awful’ the heat in our room was. We tried to prop the door open with a table and open the small window to get any fresh air into the room but it didn’t help. She said she would try to bring a fan as that’s what she’d done for other rooms but this never arrived. It meant a late night and none of us slept well. Our room was pretty clean but the downstairs hotel toilets were grim and the pool area smelt of sewage rather than chlorine. Breakfast was average and what you expect for a cheap chain hotel.
