Luxury comfortable room at the heart of the city on Princes Street next to monuments,shops,restaurants and railway station. Amazing view from the bar and restaurant. Breakfast was delicious.

Staff not very friendly at check in!! The restaurant closes at 5pm.

This hotel has a great location and potentially a great hotel. You walk in in the elevator that helps you go up to six steps is out of order and was for the whole week. The sewer had backed up and the smell in the elevator,was revolting. Putrid. They did their best, but it was unbearable. they blamed it on the storm that had just passed through, but it had been over a week. I was on the sixth floor and they are renovating a few of the rooms. There was plastic covering the carpets and workers were there all day but they were pretty quiet. The room was very pleasant looking however, the air conditioning and heat was a little bit of a problem, as it was new. They are transitioning from radiators to central air. The radiator worked great… When it worked. The last negative thing I have to say is the bed… Not hotel quality. Hard as a rock and very cheap. They need to upgrade their mattresses to more of a pillow top Kush type of mattress. now that I got all of the negative things out of the way. I cannot say enough about the service and the view. The service was top-notch and the view was spectacular. The staff was so accommodating and lovely. The breakfast was good and worth 11£. However, the eggs have something to be desired. The chef needs to work on that. The fish and chips I had for dinner were delicious. Like I mentioned in the title, this hotel is in transition. Hopefully in another month, it’ll be finished. This was a great locstion to stay ... central to old and new town as well as transportation options:train, buses and tram. Luggage storage is available for before and after check-in/out.

Perfect location next to the train station with gorgeous views of Old Town and the castle. Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful restaurant.

Best location. Staff welcoming and very helpful in all areas. Could do with a bit of a refurb. Some areas are a bit tired. Breakfast was great, full Scottish. Had dinner one night which was lovely. Prices in restaurant reasonable except even if you just have a drink, a service charge is added which was a bit annoying. Bathroom in our room was a bit claustrophobic and the glass shower door needed to be wider as a bit useless. Floor was always completely soaked by the time you finished. Great aircon. Overall a good experience but needs a bit of attention in some areas, and price point is a bit high for what it is.

Comfortable and well maintained property close to the rail station. Very walkable to the Royal Mile. Nice and helpful hotel staff. The rate seemed a little high but it is a very good overall value during the high travel season. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a lot of options and very good quality. The hotel does a good job in regulating the number of people at breakfast. We discovered that that is important in Edinburgh because the quality of the offerings there could attract a lot of non-Hotel guests. Hotel guests are required to make reservations for breakfast, which is easily done at check-in.

You all need to try their cream tea option at the restaurant. Tea with scones! Best scones ive had in my life. Ive been to many high teas in my life and this beats all. Every single bite felt like i was having an out of body experience. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating to our needs. Very walkable to majority of the attractions and the view from the restaurant is beautiful. Definitely would stay again!

First of the view from this hotel is beautiful, my room was just what I needed as I was travelling alone. Check in was smooth, my room ready hours before my check in time which was a great relief as I'd travelled by train from Leicestershire, so getting rid of bags, cases and being able to rest was great, I did note they can look after bags before check in though. My room was just nice for me, clean, beautiful view, clean bathroom, with a great shower! Room had a large TV, hairdryer, ironing equipment, dry cleaning arrangements, tea/ coffee, kettle etc. Room was cleaned daily and drinks re stocked. The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in whilst away and slept really good. The hotel is huge with 7 floors, I was on 7th but lifts are available if mobility is an issue. The restaurant is spacious with an amazing view of the castle, it was not overcrowded and the atmosphere was relaxed. All staff are polite and will help if needed. I loved Edinburgh and when I come back I'm hoping Mount Royal have a room for me. Thankyou for a quiet, relaxing stay.

Only downside is smell of damp rot in lifts and stairways

Clean room, clean bathroom, a view of the scott monument and Edinburgh castle was right outside my window, everything was walking distance, and it’s in a super convenient location!

The hotel is in the best location you could wish for. Everywhere is walking distance and the views look out over Princes street and the castle. I was really happy with the price because of the location The initial foyer and dining room are nice enough. The rooms are a decent size and clean enough. But you stay here for the location. I think overall it’s good value. However, over a couple of days the lifts and hallway was a bit smelly The main issue here isn’t external noise, it’s noise from the hallway inside. The walls must be thin because it sounded like people were inside my room! It was not helped because they had a large group of teenagers staying at the same time who were shouting in the halls and banging on doors. I can’t blame the hotel for this (they couldn’t know what they would do) but it really emphasised how easily sound travels inside Staff were lovely and friendly and will do anything to help. Breakfast was lovely Last thing is the bar. I had a drink, it’s tasted horrible, but staff told me that’s how it should taste……definitely not. So I had to just pour it away Anyway, if you want central location, you will Not find a better price and for that price, the hotel is nice enough.

Dirty in shower and under bed pillows really not comfortable and no food menu in rooms and no suggestions where to go in edinburgh but reception staff were impeccable with regards to dropping off my bags early before my room was early and the shower room was very dirty and old pipes rusting away

A 3-night stay away from London. Hotel in superb location for entertainment and shopping. however, it was a little noisy but not diminishing the overall satisfaction of the mini-break. Room a little warm with premises not advertised with AC, later advised to us upon check-out.

Great staff, but the room looked older and a lot duller than the pictures. Also smelled kindof bad and poor ventilation.

Located in the city centre, the hotel is conveniently placed, though the room felt a little dated. It was fine for a short stay where my main purpose was simply to sleep. Reception is on the first floor, but anyone can access the room floors directly from the ground level, which didn’t feel very secure. My room (425) faced a construction site, and noise started as early as 06:00, which was quite disruptive. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, but overall hotel management didn’t seem up to standard, to be honest.

Room was tiny, barely big enough for the bed. Air conditioning was ineffective and the bathroom flooded every time I showered as it has been badly designed

The hotel is in a good location. Walking distance to everywhere. The building looks like under construction, therefore hard to find. Negative note about the room is the AC unit…does not stay on & room gets very warm!

Our check in and out was dealt with by very professional and friendly staff and all staff on the property were very friendly. The location was perfect and the views were spectacular. I would 100% stay here again.

The hotel was booked as a surprise trip for my 18 year old twins. The hotel upgraded their room and gave them a fantastic view of the castle - they are History students, so they were over the moon! They also received a birthday card and glass of wine from the hotel. The room was lovely, the staff were friendly, we really couldn't ask for anything more. I'm sure we will come back to Edinburgh soon and we wont hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent overnight stay at this hotel. Check in staff, bar staff and restaurant staff were all excellent and helpful.

This hotel and staff are excellent. Staff are friendly but professional. Room had amazing view of Scott's monument. We were upgraded because it was our 40th wedding anniversary, a lovely gesture and a fabulous stay. We're returning next year for the Christmas market.

Arrived for check-in at 15.14 to be informed that our room was not ready and would be 15-20 minutes. The hotel check-in time is 15.00 and I had previously received emails from the hotel asking for our expected time of arrival.

We booked this property months in advance and we had a confirmation butand when we arrived they told us they canceled our room. We had to go elsewhere . Don't gamble on having a room at the Mount Royal.

A 2 minutes walk from Waverley train station with excellent public transport links at the doorstep. Quick & smooth check-in and all the team members are 5 star! Especially Lewis & Daliya. Also - the internet/wifi was the best I have experienced in any hotel.

Property location is excellent - on princess street which is the location one should be . Eateries transport and sightseeing areas are all within a short walk. Hotel has changed hands. However staff are polite ans helpful. Room amenities are adequate however could be better.

Jenners renovation works, drilling started at 08:00 and was continuous. Vibrated right through the room and all surfaces

The hotel is very clean and the staff very professional and helpful. The breakfast extremely expensive if you pay on the day £19 but £11 if you book the day before ( I never know if I’ll be hungry the day before). I was woken up by heavy drilling from apparently building work being carried out next door. There was no notice on the website about this and I would definitely not recommend this hotel for that reason.

This is a very nice tourist hotel with a great location. Easy access to trains, trams and buses. Get a room facing downtown.

The Mount Royal is in a perfect location for exploring the city of Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful. The twin room we booked was clean, quiet and spacious. We also had breakfast which was delicious with stunning views over Princess Street, it was also great value for money. We would definitely stay here again. 🙂

Nice hotel we we’re able to check in early as our room was ready, staff where very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious especially the breakfast would recommend.

The hotel was fine and confortable but you can see the room is a bit dated therefore I found the hotel a bit expensive for what it is. The breakfast was totally correct but not amazing. I would stay again for the location only which is ideal!

I stayed a night at the Mount Royal Hotel. It was clean and tidy. the check in/out process was seamless. Good continental break. However, it was a bit expensive for the size of the room I had.
