Mercure Glasgow City Hotel

Diese Unterkunft war schrecklich. Der Parkplatz ist in einem dunklen Hinterhof, der Weg zum Hotel führt durch eine dunkle, schmutzige und vermüllte Gasse mit Glasscherben, Urin und Ungeziefer. Die aufgehängten Lichterketten sollen nur den Blick aus dem Fenster "aufhübschen". Die Zimmer sind seit Jahrzehnten nicht renoviert wurden. Der Teppich ist fleckig, Kanten und Ecken abgenutzt und beschädigt, Verkleidungen lösen sich, das Bad ist verkalkt und verschimmelt, die Fenster sind nicht dicht, gegenüber hängen laute Klimaanlagen, die man die ganze nach hört usw. Beim Personal haben wir uns darüber beschwert und ein anderes Zimmer verlangt, auch weil die Fotos im Internet und die Realität sehr weit voneinander entfernt sind. Ein Schulterzucken und ein: "so sieht es da nun mal mittlerweile aus" war alles. Man hat uns ein anderes Zimmer angeboten, welches zwar noch winziger war, aber einen Hauch weniger schmutzig. Da wir zum Glück nur auf Durchreise waren und eine Nacht dort verbringen mussten, haben wir es über uns ergehen lassen. Aber duschen konnten wir uns dort nicht, wir hatten das Gefühl wir wären hinterher schmutziger gewesen als vorher. Das Frühstück ist übrigens ein schlechter Scherz. Z.B. besteht das "Haggis" im Grunde nur aus Getreide, ist trocken und krümelig. Eigentlich sollte es eine weiche fast matschige Konsistenz haben. Dieser Qualitätsanspruch(so billig wie möglich) zieht sich durch das gesamte Angebot. Geht lieber außerhalb frühstücken...

There are major works going on at the hotel which we were not informed about! It was extremely noisy and messy with workmen everywhere. The lounge/bar area at the front of the hotel was closed completely. The carpet in our room was threadbare, the room was very small and too hot and the view from our room was of the back of old grey horrible buildings and walls. We only had one bath towel between us which was rectified on request. Sorry but overall, one of the worst places we have stayed. Would not recommend.

The positives were the bed was clean and they offer a send out same day laundry service but that's where it ends. The pictures used for advertising were deceiving. They looked a lot larger. I had about a foot and a half between the desk and the bed and I had to Jenga my suitcase open in order to lay it flat. They claim to focus on having clean rooms but there was mild in the bathroom and cracks in the ceilings, dirt in the corners. There was no air conditioning and no fan to keep air moving so the room was extremely hot. I did open a window but you're centrally located and so hearing loud people late at night was the cost to try to cool the room at all. There was no notice that they were going to be under renovations so between 7&8 am you heard banging from them. There was a drip I thought was coming from outside but was actually inside the walls and it was constantly dripping and was distracting.

This hotel is undergoing an extensive renovation and as such most of the hotel is inaccessible the front door comes directly into a desk and lifts that’s it. The rooms are tiny and very noisy with street sounds outside. I booked 2 rooms and at no point was I told that the hotel was under construction and there was no restaurant or bar, so I feel very let down that we weren’t forewarned of the experience we would get.

Breakfast was really good. Room bit tired looking and so was hallways etc could do with freshen up
