We had great stay during low season with amazing staff. Unfortunately due to mother nature we had to leave the island 1 day early ... Our room was held incase no ferry was available . Great real fire to sit around and have a drink in the bar .

Wir haben drei wunderschöne Tage in diesem Hotel verbringen dürfen, eines der schönsten Hotels auf unserer Australien-Reise! Von den freundlichen MitarbeiterInnen über den tollen Pool, die extrem geniale Aussicht auf den wilden Strand/Meer, die Zimmerausstattung, der Komfort, hier hat wirklich alles gepasst! Sehr empfehlenswert!

Superb stay! All the staff were attentive, helpful, friendly and excellent. Room was comfortable, with a lovely bed. Fantastic bar/lounge and great restaurant. Highly recommend.

We were very impressed by the quality of the food in the restaurant, the incredibly friendly and helpful staff and the amazing salt water swimming pool. The darma wallabies grazing at night right next to the motel were just absolutely the classic Australiana!

Opposite end of island from Seal Bay and Flinders Chase but still great for wildlife. Hotel provided fish for Pelican Feeding next to hotel which was a fantastic experience. Pool and restaurant good and staff really helpful and friendly. Recommend it as good place to stay on the island.

Such lovely and helpful staff! Very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is fantastic, the food was amazing and a very cosy and warm ambience with the fire going. The room was spacious and very comfortable. I would highly recommend Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge.

Very quiet place to stay overnight. Room had a lovely water view and we were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary gifts of wine, snacks, biscuits and bottled water. A very nice meal at their restaurant and lovely staff, compensated for the slightly tired look to the large pool, buildings and surrounds. The management is obviously trying hard to maintain an older type motel in difficult times. Give them your support if you can. Cheers

Hotel heeft een mooie ligging aan het water. Wij hadden een kamer met zicht op de baai. Kamers zijn ruim en zeer proper. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en de receptioniste is zeer behulpzaam. Er is ook een leuke bar en restaurant bij het hotel. Het ontbijt bestaat uit keuzeopties en is zeer lekker en verzorgd.

The room was clean and tidy although some aspects were looking a bit tired and needed updating, like the bathroom. There was also some mould behind the curtains near the window which really should be removed. On the flip side the staff were fantastic and the food served in the bar and restaurant was excellent.

Very clean and easy check in/check out. Room was well sized and beds super comfy. Restaurants here were also the only place open for dinner in American River on some weeknights in the off season, so handy to be staying on site.

Bedding and linen were crisp and clean. The room itself was clean but smelt a little musty and there was evidence of previous water damage. Overhead light was partially burnt out. The half bottle of wine and cookies was a nice touch. The cable to the extractor fan for the bathroom was hanging down from the receptacle and could pose a danger. Overall the room felt tired and in need of an upgrade. It should really be advertised as a motel rather than a hotel.

Location: The property is located centrally. This provides relatively easy driving to the main island sites and the ferry. Not walkable but that is the same for almost everywhere on the island. Staff: Wonderful.and helpful. Room: We had a water view room that had a ground level patio which we took advantage of every eveing. The room is a little dated and could use with updating. That being said it was good for a couple night stay and the the staff made up for this piece. Property: It has a pool, restaurant and pub. This made eating very easy as there are not a lot of options on the island. Overall It is what i expected. Enjoyed the stay at the property and the visit to the island.

Das Superior Zimmer mit Buchtblick hat sich absolut gelohnt. Gegenüber vom Balkon aus, konnten wir einen Koala den Baum hochklettern sehen. Delfine sind in der Ferne, am frühen Morgen vorbeigezogen. Ein leckerer Rotwein, Chips, Kekse und Wasser als Willkommensgeschenk. Bequemes großes Bett und schönes großes Zimmer mit Kühlschrank, Wasserkocher. Es gibt auch einen Nachttresor für späte Anreisen. Eine richtig tolle Gegend um alles zu erkunden.

our room was nice and roomy. excellent bed and the room was well appointed with mini kitchen, charging pads for phones and huge TV. The view of the ocean was wonderful. It is in a remote area so we had long drives to go see activities. Food at the hotel was limited and the breakfast was expensive for what was available and was not great!.They encourage not getting the room serviced but did not say what to do with the rubbish that built up over 4 days.

Our room had a view to the water and the balcony was appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the room was well set up. Such a shame it was so badly insulated for noise and buses and trucks using the gravel driveway woke us up every morning. The restaurant food was thoroughly mediocre. Oven fries served with a $40 main course!

Staff was extremely helpful with making reservation and helping with itinerary plans. On site restaurant was good. Room was clean and simple, extra bed was brought in so three of us could stay. Extra amenities like wine, cookies and crisps were much appreciated. Definitely recommend for overnighting on Kangaroo Island.

Beautiful area. Great view of bay. Most staff outstanding. Only exception - male staff person at desk Friday evening was checking us out early as we were leaving before desk opened Sat AM. Tour leader for large group arrived, and rather than finish checking us out, he had the nerve to ask us to come back later after he finished with group. Fortunately, the visiting tour guide had some manners and sensibility and told him to finish with us first.

Staff were great, the sliding door to bathroom was out of alignment when we got to our room after maintenance had gone home, one of the kitchen staff got some tools out of his car and fixed it so it didn’t jam during the night, much appreciated

Location: The property is located centrally. This provides relatively easy driving to the main island sites and the ferry. Not walkable but that is the same for almost everywhere on the island. Staff: Wonderful.and helpful. Room: We had a water view room that had a ground level patio which we took advantage of every eveing. The room is a little dated and could use with updating. That being said it was good for a couple night stay and the the staff made up for this piece. Property: It has a pool, restaurant and pub. This made eating very easy as there are not a lot of options on the island. Overall It is what i expected. Enjoyed the stay at the property and the visit to the island.

Such a great location for accommodation! Only 30 minute drive from the Ferry, beautiful views, such a quiet and peaceful location, really felt like you were out in nature, it was very relaxing. The room was a good size, with nice little balcony with sliding door for nice airflow. The dining options were good, staff were very friendly! Would definitely stay here again if visiting Kangaroo Island again.

Beautiful area. Great view of bay. Most staff outstanding. Only exception - male staff person at desk Friday evening was checking us out early as we were leaving before desk opened Sat AM. Tour leader for large group arrived, and rather than finish checking us out, he had the nerve to ask us to come back later after he finished with group. Fortunately, the visiting tour guide had some manners and sensibility and told him to finish with us first.

Hotel heeft een mooie ligging aan het water. Wij hadden een kamer met zicht op de baai. Kamers zijn ruim en zeer proper. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en de receptioniste is zeer behulpzaam. Er is ook een leuke bar en restaurant bij het hotel. Het ontbijt bestaat uit keuzeopties en is zeer lekker en verzorgd.

Our room had a view to the water and the balcony was appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the room was well set up. Such a shame it was so badly insulated for noise and buses and trucks using the gravel driveway woke us up every morning. The restaurant food was thoroughly mediocre. Oven fries served with a $40 main course!

The Restriction on eating in the restaurant was limiting as my husband and I like to share an entree and main meal but this was not permitted as we each had to order a seperate main meal which I found difficult to understand how a restaurant can tell you how you have to order.

Such lovely and helpful staff! Very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is fantastic, the food was amazing and a very cosy and warm ambience with the fire going. The room was spacious and very comfortable. I would highly recommend Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge.

The beds and pillows were comfortable. Some of the maintenance was interesting. Staff were great although meal prices a bit expensive although guess products need to come from mainland. Food was tasty

Room and bed very comfy. Bistro had good quality and good range of food. Location is wonderful. American River is a sleepy little town and good location to see the rest of Kangaroo Island.

Disappointing. While the hotel is in the process of being extended and refurbished, that did not include the room we stayed in which although spacious and clean was in need of an update. The hanging space and vanity were tiny, especially for such a large room. Eating out options at American River for dinner are extremely limited. Dinner at the hotel was expensive and service not to standard. While the staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and doing their best they were under resourced for the workload. Apparently, a tour bus group had checked in for that night.
