It's a great spot to stay, lots of onsite activities, Tennis, SUP, kayaking outdoor pool with a spa, all included in the cost of you room. Our room unfortunately had the squeakest door, and one of the loudest and ineffective air conditioners. A 10 min walk along the river gets you to the centre of town, and directly over the road is a large shopping centre.

Hotel lives up to its “upmarket” billing and is very well maintained. Room allocated wasn’t the best…above the restaurant, below a function room so a bit noisy. Decent view but could only been seen while standing not while seated. Charging guests $15/day for parking is not really playing fair when paying $500/night for the room !

Beautiful corner room with view of the lake and garden. We loved the water dragons on nearby lawn, very neat to see them hanging out. Staff were lovely. Walking distance to amenities across the street (eg McDs, chemist). Restaurant was great- shared a steak and bottle of wine. Pool and hot tub were great. No concerns.

We had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider coming back! Check-in was quick and efficient — Georgia at reception was lovely, welcoming us warmly and getting us settled in straight away. Our Waterview room was on the ground floor, with direct access to the pool and spa, and beautiful views. We even had a few friendly lizard visitors on our back porch! The room itself was spacious and perfect for our family of four, with a comfortable queen/king bed and two singles for the children. A lovely touch was the personalised birthday note and complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived — such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel overall was very clean, the staff friendly, and the facilities great. One small point of confusion — the listing mentioned access to a gym, but there wasn’t one on the premises (only nearby access, which could be clearer in the description). Breakfast was simple but sufficient — your typical basics and not too busy, which made it a relaxed start to the morning. The biggest downside for us was the EV charging situation. We specifically chose this hotel because it advertised EV chargers, but unfortunately, neither charger worked with our car, and the spots were often occupied by non-electric vehicles. It meant we had to seek out other charging stations during our stay, which was inconvenient after driving up from Sydney. The location is fantastic — walking distance to port, restaurants, shopping centre across the road.

We were very much looking forward to our stay here and treated ourselves to a waterfront room thinking it would be really special. I have to say we were left with very mixed feelings about this hotel and I will provide I hope an unbiased fair review. The staff were without exception very friendly and welcoming. Our room on first impression was a lovely room recently refurbished and spacious. Unfortunately it smelt very badly of damp and upon inspection we noticed the carpet by the bed was soaking wet and the aircon was dripping. We reported it and someone came to fix it but they didn’t fix it! We reported it again and were told we could be moved but not until we returned from a night out for dinner. The hassle of moving everything late at night just for 2 nights didn’t seem worth it so we stayed where we were. Nobody returned to fix it and we were offered no compensation whatsoever. The hot tub by the pool was broken and didn’t work. Neither did the card machine whilst trying to pay for a coffee. The hotel itself is in a great location and on first impression it looks lovely - but it’s the attention to detail in maintenance that will leave customers disappointed with their experience of staying here.

Room had a terrible smell upon entering. The kids beds head area were very dusty caused allergy issues for both. Shower head was leaking and sprayed water onto toilet paperwork roll and toilet. Facilites outside of the room was fantastic. It was a great location, nice views, very relaxing feel. Staff were very welcoming and lovely.

Pretty average. Aircon had leaky water marks under it , bathroom had at least 10 gnats or drain flies on the roof. Sofa was very dirty (beige colour originally ) Amenities look good, felt similar to a resort style hotel . Definitely not 4.5 star .

It was fine. It really could use a good cleaning. It is surfaced cleaned, but could use a good scrubbing in the bathroom and cleaned not just in the traffics areas of the room.

We stayed here for one night as a stop over option! The kids loved the pool and the room service option. The rooms are very clean and tidy. It’s very conveniently located across from shops and has a playground nearby.

Unfortunately this stay didn’t live up to our expectations from the pictures and cost for the stay. First room we were in the air conditioning didn’t work it was facing west so really hot, the duty manager at reception was lovely and moved us to a different room. Unfortunately second room wasn’t much better but didn’t want to seem difficult so didn’t say anything. The king bed was well used with large body dips in the mattress making it very uncomfortable and causing a very sore back over the 4 nights we stayed. The bathroom had no window and exhaust fan was broken causing mould on the ceiling and in the grout. A hole that looked like it had been punched in the door had been badly patched, the handle barely worked to open and close the door. There were stains in the carpet in the room that looked ‘interesting’. And on door frame into the room red stains like blood. Overall stay was average it’s definitely not worth the price tag. The pool area looked tired with some of the plastic seating broken but not removed. A heavier person could have hurt themself on it.

Very nice property. Room was lovely overlooking the water. Good dining at hotel plus good options in walking distance. Only negative was loud dance music blaring through speakers by the pool until at 10pm at night when no one was in the area - this made it hard to hear ourselves speak or watch TV inside or even enjoy the balcony before bed - maybe revise this music to 9pm max for non daylight saving periods.

Rooms are updated and nice. Comfortable beds and pillows are ok. Very relaxed hotel. Our heater in the room didn’t work so it was a pretty cold 2 nights. Breakfast is ok but not that great. Have to pay extra for barista coffee- wasn’t aware until we went to check out and had to pay. I don’t mind paying but full disclosure would be nice.

Unfortunately second room wasn’t much better but didn’t want to seem difficult so didn’t say anything. The king bed was well used with large body dips in the mattress making it very uncomfortable and causing a very sore back over the 4 nights we stayed. The bathroom had no window and exhaust fan was broken causing mould on the ceiling and in the grout. A hole that looked like it had been punched in the door had been badly patched, the handle barely worked to open and close the door. There were stains in the carpet in the room that looked ‘interesting’. And on door frame into the room red stains like blood. Overall stay was average it’s definitely not worth the price tag. The pool area looked tired with some of the plastic seating broken but not removed. A heavier person could have hurt themself on it.

The things we liked were, lovely greeting at reception, we were in the executive suite which was lovely and the outlook was very beautiful, nice pool area and great location to be able to walk to shops and restaurants. Things we did not like were one evening we decided to dine etc at your restaurant. Before dinner we ordered some drinks from the bar area which they said they would deliver to us in the lounge area, after waiting 20 mins and watching other people receive their drinks that ordered after us, we enquired at the bar, and were told sorry we are just about to make it, obviously understaffed. Then after enjoying our lovely entree and main meal in the your restaurant we decided we would order dessert and a coffee but sadly we waited a very long time for the waitress to come and ask us but this did not happen as the 2 waitresses were busy doing other jobs, perhaps under staffed again and so we sadly decided to leave it and left. We were very disappointed in these 2 incidents which lacked attentive service, especially in a bar and restaurant at a highly rated resort. We dined elsewhere the following evening and were waited upon by very attentive staff, meeting all our needs in a timely manner. This may seem a small thing but to us, staying in a beautiful highly rated resort, in a beautiful suite it certainly tainted our overall view of your venue.

Paying to park in any outdoor carpark in front of the hotel was disappointing - why are you charged for this? Room was run down and not clean - stained lounge and cobwebs in curtains. Our checkin was lovely. The manager explained there was a wedding and to allow for noise. However she failed to let us know that the room we had made it feel like daytime with the lights off the car park. Further, the check out process was horrid. We checked out early (5.40am) and there was nothing to say how to check out early in place at the counter. I saw a lady in the office, I quietly knocked on the door and was met with quite a rude response. She was rude speaking with me and thereafter. I did point out that there was nothing to suggest what I should do in case of early check out. Such a bad way to end a nice evening.

It's a great spot to stay, lots of onsite activities, Tennis, SUP, kayaking outdoor pool with a spa, all included in the cost of you room. Our room unfortunately had the squeakest door, and one of the loudest and ineffective air conditioners. A 10 min walk along the river gets you to the centre of town, and directly over the road is a large shopping centre.

Stayed here for a long weekend get away and catching a show. Sails is good hotel in a great location, close to bars, restaurants and the local club. Ate at the restaurant one night and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the meals. They do stiff you with car parking fees, which I think is a little rich. However we got a good deal on room rates, so not too bothered. Overall a great place for a getaway in Port Macquarie.

we stayed in a lovely suite overlooking the water. The suite has a lawn area around it and other hotel guests do walk around hotel and suite. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider coming back! Check-in was quick and efficient — Georgia at reception was lovely, welcoming us warmly and getting us settled in straight away. Our Waterview room was on the ground floor, with direct access to the pool and spa, and beautiful views. We even had a few friendly lizard visitors on our back porch! The room itself was spacious and perfect for our family of four, with a comfortable queen/king bed and two singles for the children. A lovely touch was the personalised birthday note and complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived — such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel overall was very clean, the staff friendly, and the facilities great. One small point of confusion — the listing mentioned access to a gym, but there wasn’t one on the premises (only nearby access, which could be clearer in the description). Breakfast was simple but sufficient — your typical basics and not too busy, which made it a relaxed start to the morning. The biggest downside for us was the EV charging situation. We specifically chose this hotel because it advertised EV chargers, but unfortunately, neither charger worked with our car, and the spots were often occupied by non-electric vehicles. It meant we had to seek out other charging stations during our stay, which was inconvenient after driving up from Sydney. The location is fantastic — walking distance to port, restaurants, shopping centre across the road.

Sails Port Macquarie is situated outside of the main town centre but to our family's delight it is within walking distance to dining and retail establishments. Selecting the marina view rooms is very much worthwhile and even better to have rooms directly connected to the pool. We wished we stayed longer, but will definitely prefer to stay at Sails for our next trip.

Very nice property. Room was lovely overlooking the water. Good dining at hotel plus good options in walking distance. Only negative was loud dance music blaring through speakers by the pool until at 10pm at night when no one was in the area - this made it hard to hear ourselves speak or watch TV inside or even enjoy the balcony before bed - maybe revise this music to 9pm max for non daylight saving periods.

We had a great stay at the resort in Port Macquarie. The facilities were excellent, staff are great and our room with a water view was lovely. We loved the Water Dragons, visited us having our morning coffee and lounging around the spa this morning. The restaurant was excellent for both an evening dinner and buffet Breakfast. Great sized room and space for families also.

Beautiful corner room with view of the lake and garden. We loved the water dragons on nearby lawn, very neat to see them hanging out. Staff were lovely. Walking distance to amenities across the street (eg McDs, chemist). Restaurant was great- shared a steak and bottle of wine. Pool and hot tub were great. No concerns.

Rooms are updated and nice. Comfortable beds and pillows are ok. Very relaxed hotel. Our heater in the room didn’t work so it was a pretty cold 2 nights. Breakfast is ok but not that great. Have to pay extra for barista coffee- wasn’t aware until we went to check out and had to pay. I don’t mind paying but full disclosure would be nice.

Well I had to ask for my parking and free drink which they offer. I arrived at 8.30pm they told me the room service finishes at 8.45 on a Friday night and to go to the restaurant before you go to the room to order it. I arrived at the restaurant at 8.40pm to find a group paying for their dinner separately. When I was finally served 8.47pm they told me the kitchen finishes at 8.45 so I could order dinner. Once I arrived at my room the bed was two singles pushed together which is quite common but both beds were so old that they had huge indents so you fell into the middle of each of them and had no springs etc left. Then the room had such bad insulation in the walls/windows that people in the driveway were talking till 3am and I could hear them quite clearly. Making sleep quite difficult. One of these issue would be tolerable but all together this place (second most expensive in Port) is not worth the money.

Nice hotel, typical Aussie standards - overpriced, ageing and generally just acceptable. Nice location, pleasant staff. Nothing extraordinary, yet nothing negative really. If you like seafood restaurants, weak tea and white wine this place would probably knock your socks off. Decent value for Australia and very nice location. Easy parking but make sure you get your parking sorted if it is "included" in your booking.
