This property is in a great location and a 3 minute walk to Maxwell MRT station and Chinatown. Lots of food and restaurants around and the convenience stores are well located. The only issue is there is too much noise on the street which is echoed into the Suite that we stayed in. The suite windows were located at the front of the hotel almost on the corner so we could hear people talking, cars driving, and construction across the road. Double glazing windows may be an option for this Lavish suite . Not sure what the other rooms were like. It has a rooftop bar which was great but no food. Overall great location and nice hotel.

Great boutique hotel near Chinatown and the Maxwell Centre, really handy for everything we wanted to do in Singapore. Staff were amazing, enjoyed the rooftop bar. For coffee afficiandoes, try the Maxi Coffee House a short walk around the corner from the hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful boutique hotel very close to Chinatown and the Hawker food center and the Maxwell MRT station is less than a block away...excellent location for an tourist! The staff was excellent...very helpful in every way possible! The snacks in the lobby and mini-bar (free) were a very pleasant and appreciated treat. As many other reviews will tell you, the rooms are small and they don't all have windows (we had a very small skylight)...but you don't come to Singapore to sit in your room! The bathroom was very spacious and comfortably appointed, including the provided toiletries. Overall, the charm and location of the Scarlet Hotel is the main draw. The art deco decor is a nice change from the big box hotels. It was a very relaxing stay and the rooftop bar was an added bonus with a view after a long day of sightseeing.

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is in an excellent location for Chinatown, easy transport links via Maxwell MRT, Chinatown or Tanjong Pagar MRT'S. Maxwell Hawker Centre a minute walk away for food. Great little rooftop bar open from 5 pm. It's a quirky little hotel, corridors are like a rabbit warren. We were at room 240, no view, at the back of the hotel, but adequate enough with super comfy bed and complimentary mini bar/snacks I would definitely stay here again.

The experience was horrible. After checking in we were guided by the staff to go to the wrong floor. The elevator had some cooling fan that made a horrible sound. Finally found my room and it had a moldy smell and the furniture was stained. The bathroom had a sprinkle of white dust. Aircon was noisy and hardly working. We figured we needed to leave for dinner before something else. The elevator had given up and was no longer working. We had to walk across a messanine on the outside and passed the Jacuzzi. This was drained and had a sign "under maintenance". We tried to leave trough the fire escape but it was locked up. Back up on the messanine some staff member guided us to down some outside stairs to a back ally. We at least had a good meal out on town and decided to get drunk to forget about the hotel situation. Next morning before 0900 there was construction in the floors right above our room. Someone was using a jackhammer in the floors. The hotel had slid a note under the door with an apology that construction would take place between 0900-1700 hrs the whole week. We just had enough and packed our stuff. Went down to the reception and asked to check out early. We had paid for 4 nights and only stayed 1 night. So we asked for the remaining 3 nights to be refunded. That needed to be approved by management. The staff took my contact details and sent me an email. It's been four days and so far no messages or no refund on my 200 dollar deposit. Run away!

Overall we were very happy with the hotel and the service. However, they should review their price policy. Singapore is an expensive place but when we went to their rooftop bar and the food we ordered was served we were not sure if we should laugh or cry…We order „Truffle Oil Parmesan Fries“ (S$ 23) and a „cold cut platter“ (S$ 38)….Well…there was absolutely no sign or even taste of truffles in the fries; luckily the portion was so small that we survived this salt shock….But the cold cut platter was the (negative) highlight….Not only that we didn’t get some bread (okay, our bad … wasn’t mentioned on the menu - but hey….cold cut without bread?…) we got a sloppy arranged small platter with 3-4 (each) thin pieces of salami, ham, mortadella and a slightly larger than a fingernail pice of cheese….Was it least fresh? - Well not sure as it looked and tasted defrosted. So we spent S$ 61 for really crappy food…. :-(. PS: The drinks are also not cheap but still in an acceptable price range.

Pro: The bed way amazingly comfortable!!!! Great location! You right next to the two best food hawker courts, Amoy and Maxwell. Bus and trains close by. Pagoda st. is good to pick up souvenirs.Shake N Dog SG is amazing late night food :) staff is amazing. Loved having the mini bar replenished. Leaving bags after checkout was no issue and we got to shower too upon pick up of our bags before we headed to fly home!!! Con: I hate the smell of the lobby. I go unscented everything so easy for me to be harsh. Would be nice if the ygot the hot tub going again Would absolutely stay here again!!!!!

Fantastic location, near food markets, Chinatown and train. Great amenities, rooftop bar, complimentary minibar. Slightly dirty and rough finish to the room. But, overall, I would stay there again!

The Scarlet is an excellent hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished, and the free minibar was an added bonus. The staff was efficient and more than accommodating. The location is good…located right next to a Hawkers’ market…which made finding food easy. The only issue we had was that the rooftop bar (part of the reason we booked The Scarlet) was not available to us our first night due to a private function. Additionally, the hot tub is undergoing maintenance and was closed. We were not advised about the unavailability of both of these when we made the reservation. I would recommend The Scarlet as a place to stay in Singapore. The hotel layout is quirky and harkens back to days gone by.

The location and style of this hotel is convenient and unique. But the interior needs refreshed. I unfortunately got a room that smelled like sewage and the hotel was sold out and I could not be moved so they came to spray air freshener. (Which didn’t work)

Hôtel bien situé dans le quartier de Chinatown à 3 mn du métro et restaurants Pas de petit déjeuner sur place mais juste à coté d’excellentes viennoiseries qui sorte du four…hummm Personnel aux petits soins. C’est tellement rare qu’il faut le dire - alors que je voyage très souvent. J’ai été directement surclassée sans en faire la demande. A priori s’ils ont la disponibilité ils le font automatiquement +++ Toute la Literie et linge de lit et toilette sont neufs. Très confortable Bien que la moquette commence à dater elle est très propre. Le mini bar et les friandises sont offertes et approvisionnées tous les jours. Merci de m’avoir fait me sentir bien chez bous

Great location. Directly across from Maxwell Food Center and MRT station. Staff super friendly and professional. Hotel is a little dated, but very clean. Complimentary mini bar that is stocked daily is a nice touch.

Hotel staff were exceptional, great service all around! The hotel is located in a very convenient spot. Very accessible to many subway lines. A lot of dining options within short walking distance. The hotel provided free bottled water and snacks/fruits, self served in the lobby which we really appreciated. They also provided a range of toiletries. Towels and sheets were very clean. Only downside is, the hotel itself seems to be very old. Carpet, and furnitures in the room such as desk, chairs, fridge etc needs to be changed. Carpets were very stained and walls are getting very old.
Hotel staff were exceptional, great service all around! The hotel is located in a very convenient spot. Very accessible to many subway lines. A lot of dining options within short walking distance. Great location for moving around Singapore. MRT 3 minutes away and gave us access to wherever we wanted to go. Close to China Town - always felt safe. Loved this hotel. We had a room with no windows which was perfect for us - we had the best sleeps and most of our time was spent being out and about. Great service, some nice touches such as free minibar and snacks plus toiletries, helpful as I forgot my toothbrush. Our room was clean and cleaned daily to a high standard. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. Definitely a great place to stay if you’re going out and about.

The art deco decor is a nice change from the big box hotels. It was a very relaxing stay and the rooftop bar was an added bonus with a view after a long day of sightseeing.

Great staff and amenities including free daily minibar with snacks on our visit. Property is kept in good shape as was our room. Room, although small, was well equiped, safe, desk, nice bathroom and comfortable bed. I would recommend insisting on a room with a window.

Lovely small hotel with excellent staff. Don’t bother with a balcony room - outlook is a car park and there is a bright lantern light on the balcony which prevented having a dark bedroom was a bit of a downer

The hotel is well located, next to a metro station and Chinatown. Be warned - the executive room is really small . We couldn't lay both open suitcases on the floor. If you have a room on the street side, take ear plugs. Staff were charming and helpful though.

The location is excellent, in the heart of bustling Chinatown. There is a MRT train station less than a block away for super easy access to all of Singapore. Staff are friendly and helpful. You are welcomed with a cold towel and water when arriving Property is boutique and cute. Many restaurants and coffee shop’s within walking distance. We had room 304, an Executive Room with balcony. Room size was on the small side, we still had room for our bags. There is a safe in the room. There was a good size balcony with table and 2 chairs. There were complimentary mini bar items. The shower was basic, with only a single handheld shower head. All other hotels on our trip had rain showers. The room was too bright at night, with much outside light from the bathroom that you could not block out due to the opaque glass bathroom Door. There are decorative lights on the balcony that can’t be turned off. You’ll need a sleep mask in room 304.

Room on the main level is quite small and has no window. However, it's quiet and has great AC. Hotel is in Chinatown, walking distance to Maxwell hawker centre, plenty of restaurants, sights, and Maxwell metro station. Staff is very nice, friendly and serviceable.

Staff at reception are very helpful and friendly. I will always associated Scarlet hotel with the best staff I have met in all my hotels that I stayed. One example, we were getting our luggage to the waiting taxi. One of staff (a lady) was returning to the hotel (from break) saw us and immediately help us with our big luggage. It was a pleasant surprise!

I left a syringe of insulin inside the refrigerator in aluminum foil. the hotel was called within a matter of hours. I was told that the syringe was balled up in aluminum foil and discarded. How irresponsible. I had to go to the hospital for insulin.

Been to this property before. We were given a room with twin beds when I had requested a Queen Bed. Nothing mentioned at check in. Not sure if we were judged to have single beds. Wanted both passports which is fine but I have no idea why my partner had to sign check in form when booking was in my name solely. More training & customer relations training required.

Staff were extremely nice and friendly and caring. Hotel was clean and location was good. However the rooms without windows are not for clausterphobic people! I would suggest paying more for a room with a window.

Staff could not be more helpful a special thank you to Sharkira and Sara . The Scarlet Hotel is right down the road to the MRT there are three stations Maxwell being the closest . The rail system is very easy to use and cost very little too. The Hawker food market is just across the road. Great street food at excellent prices and a good vibe. I would recommend this hotel

Sadly there was a problem with my reservation (likely my fault). Much worse was that the front desk staff said it would not be a problem to amend the reservation, but the hotel did not honor that, so I ended up paying far too much. Quite possibly just a failure of communication, but left a very poor taste in the mouth and I won't be back.

The Scarlet is an excellent hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished, and the free minibar was an added bonus. The staff was efficient and more than accommodating. The location is good…located right next to a Hawkers’ market…which made finding food easy. The only issue we had was that the rooftop bar (part of the reason we booked The Scarlet) was not available to us our first night due to a private function. Additionally, the hot tub is undergoing maintenance and was closed. We were not advised about the unavailability of both of these when we made the reservation. I would recommend The Scarlet as a place to stay in Singapore. The hotel layout is quirky and harkens back to days gone by.

The only issue is there is too much noise on the street which is echoed into the Suite that we stayed in. The suite windows were located at the front of the hotel almost on the corner so we could hear people talking, cars driving, and construction across the road. Double glazing windows may be an option for this Lavish suite . Not sure what the other rooms were like. It has a rooftop bar which was great but no food. Overall great location and nice hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is in an excellent location for Chinatown, easy transport links via Maxwell MRT, Chinatown or Tanjong Pagar MRT'S. Maxwell Hawker Centre a minute walk away for food. Great little rooftop bar open from 5 pm. It's a quirky little hotel, corridors are like a rabbit warren. We were at room 240, no view, at the back of the hotel, but adequate enough with super comfy bed and complimentary mini bar/snacks I would definitely stay here again.

Great boutique hotel near Chinatown and the Maxwell Centre, really handy for everything we wanted to do in Singapore. Staff were amazing, enjoyed the rooftop bar. For coffee afficiandoes, try the Maxi Coffee House a short walk around the corner from the hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Loved it! Very charming. Might want to fix the breakfast thing with Pasta Brava even though I saw the sign they were moving. Same with the rooftop bar - has so much potential but really lackluster service. The hotel itself - lovely and thank you for a great stay.

Hôtel bien situé dans le quartier de Chinatown à 3 mn du métro et restaurants Pas de petit déjeuner sur place mais juste à coté d’excellentes viennoiseries qui sorte du four…hummm Personnel aux petits soins. C’est tellement rare qu’il faut le dire - alors que je voyage très souvent. J’ai été directement surclassée sans en faire la demande. A priori s’ils ont la disponibilité ils le font automatiquement +++ Toute la Literie et linge de lit et toilette sont neufs. Très confortable Bien que la moquette commence à dater elle est très propre. Le mini bar et les friandises sont offertes et approvisionnées tous les jours. Merci de m’avoir fait me sentir bien chez bous

From the Chinatown MRT, you’ll be able to take Downtown Line to the heart of the city and walk around the spectacular Merlion Bay. The one thing that’s less impressive is the overcharged one and only restaurant in the hotel, which has little to do with it but leasing out its property to the restaurant owner. One regular latte with almond milk costs me SG$9.50.

We stayed for 6 days. Property is very close to MRT station. Room was comfortable AC very cool! We had an issue with AC they fixed it immediately. Front desk staff was kind, solicitous and helpful always. On site restaurant is good! Rooms appear to be below street level so windows are minimal if that matters. Would recommend for location, price and helpful staff

Overall we were very happy with the hotel and the service. However, they should review their price policy. Singapore is an expensive place but when we went to their rooftop bar and the food we ordered was served we were not sure if we should laugh or cry…We order „Truffle Oil Parmesan Fries“ (S$ 23) and a „cold cut platter“ (S$ 38)….Well…there was absolutely no sign or even taste of truffles in the fries; luckily the portion was so small that we survived this salt shock….But the cold cut platter was the (negative) highlight….Not only that we didn’t get some bread (okay, our bad … wasn’t mentioned on the menu - but hey….cold cut without bread?…) we got a sloppy arranged small platter with 3-4 (each) thin pieces of salami, ham, mortadella and a slightly larger than a fingernail pice of cheese….Was it least fresh? - Well not sure as it looked and tasted defrosted. So we spent S$ 61 for really crappy food…. :-(. PS: The drinks are also not cheap but still in an acceptable price range.

Wondeful hotel, excellent location, 2mins from MRT, walk to 100s of restaurants and bars in very cool areas. Staff are super friendly, free cappucinos in the lobby anytime. Room very comfy and quiet. Wondeful hotel, excellent location, 2mins from MRT, walk to 100s of restaurants and bars in very cool areas. Staff are super friendly, free cappucinos in the lobby anytime. Room very comfy and quiet. チャイナタウンにあるブティックホテル。スカーレットと言う名前だけにインテリアは赤が基調。ホール、廊下も赤。泊まった部屋も照明器具など基本は赤色。部屋にはベランダもあり、明るい。バスルームもバスタブとシャワーブースとあり、設備は上質。レストランはホテル内では無くて、隣接するイタリアンレストランで朝食、昼食、夕食をサービスするが、部屋付けは出来ない。宿泊費の高いシンガポールでは、立地の面白さを加味すると、リーズナブルなホテルのひとつにあげられるのか？

This hotel is in a former opium den that has been creatively converted but retains its authenticity. Small but pleasant rooms although not a lovely as the posted pictures. The location is great, near good shopping, eats and attractions. Just across the street from the excellent Singapore metro as well. An excellent value for your money.

We booked an executive balcony room; got an email 3 days before travel advising of balcony renovations and we would be upgraded if we accepted the email. We accepted and there were no balcony renovations being conducted (we checked the rooms) and we were downgraded but charged full fees for the executive balcony room. Other guests had the same problem while there. The on-site cafe is expensive and serves average food at high prices; their coffee is good but at $7.50SG per cup, the cup should be full rather than half full as it was each day. We won't go back, the service staff are lovely and helpful, but the buiding is run down, the red and black decor dated, and we were deliberately ripped off with the down grade and no time to book an alternative. Disappointed and will stay elsewhere next time.
