Nice hotel. Right in the heart of Zurich, with the pedestrian street right in front. Big spacious room. Only negative is that there’s no parking for your vehicle. It was a real pain to get there. And I had several suitcases.

We like this hotel a lot. It’s in the charming old city and the design is to our liking. We also like their common work/meeting spaces and make good use of them. Our “nit” this time is that upon arrival they checked us in to an inferior room (small, dark, broken shower, no robes). And while they switched us the next day, it was a hassle and they did not offer compensation for that first night (out of 4). This was disappointing especially as we’ve been repeat guests for many years. All in all, we still like this hotel a lot and would go back.

Marktgasse Hotel is in the heart of old town Zurich and within walking distance to everything including numerous historical sites, restaurants, shopping and about 15min walk to the main train/bus station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very modern and appears updated. The large double room was spacious and quite comfortable. Every floor has a self serve mineral water tap free of charge and tastes great. Downfall is that toilet is separate from rest of the bathroom which can become a little uncomfortable. Also rooms are expensive for the amenities offered. Overall was an enjoyable stay.

Fantastic location in the heart of Zürich. Super welcoming staff and a cozy reception area with free coffee/tea facilities. The room was tiny as booked - that said everything is of very good quality, including the Firestein cosmetics in the bathroom and an extra comfy bed. If the budget allows, I’ll be back.

The property was in a wonderful location!! Only a 10 minute walk from the train station and right in the heart of popular restaurants, shopping, and bars. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We utilized the baggage drop and printer with ease. Would stay here again and recommend to friends!

Comfortable rooms with an excellent location located in the heart of the old city. Strongly recommend you request a taxi or car from the hotel as the regular taxis from the train station or airport do not have access to drive in the old city so you end up toting luggage up step streets.

The hotel is hard to find or get to by car. Our taxi driver couldn’t get us to the front door due to road closures and the very narrow road in front of hotel is a private road. You can only get a car in there with a code which the hotel will provide. We had to pull our very heavy luggage to the hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. They arranged our taxi to train station when we checked out and the driver was already waiting for us in the lobby. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Restaurants and shops were an easy to walk to. Overall a nice stay.

I arrived early, and I was able to store my luggage. I received an email later in the day when my room was ready. My luggage has already been placed in the room which was very thoughtful. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. This hotel is in a great location. Public transportation is available just a short walk away. Highly recommend!

I tram passano sul lungofiume, a 1 minuto a piedi dall'hotel, mentre l'ottima ed enorme stazione centrale è a 10 minuti. Camera pulita e dotata di tutti i servizi e le comodità degne di un alloggio a 4 stelle che possono rivelarsi utili durante un soggiorno anche di diversi giorni. Prezzo nella norma, trattandosi di Zurigo. Unico piccolo appunto: chiuderei il box doccia su tutti i lati, per evitare "allagamenti".

There was an awful smell of raw sewage throughout the hotel. No apology, no explanation, let alone a discount or refund was offered. No one to collect luggage. A reception on the first floor and a lift that, unbeknown to the staff, didn't work! One of the worst experiences we have had staying anywhere.

My only complaint is that the bed seemed quite old and sagged in the middle. In addition, my room was slanted -- I was okay due to my height but if you are taller than 5'5, you'd really struggle to walk around.

We loved the hotel which had been recommended to us by my Swiss brother-in-law. The room was beautiful and well equipped, and the public areas as well as the room were spotless. The hotel is located in the Niederdorf district of Zürich which is the old part of the town with narrow cobblestone streets, excellent shops, restaurants and bars. However, on both of the nights we stayed in the hotel we were woken up at 5:30am by the sounds of trash pick-up, street cleaning, food deliveries etc all of which kept on going on throughout the early morning. Because of this we would not stay here again.

Can’t imagine a more conveniently located, clean, and safe hotel. Within a couple of blocks is a HUGE variety of bars, restaurants, cultural and sightseeing options. Even the the Niederdorf can be a noisy and slightly raucous neighborhood, the double pane windows let absolutely no traces of any of that through. The staff was lovely and even offered me a glass of welcoming Prosecco as I checked in. As much as I love a room on an upper floor (and I make a point of always walking and not taking elevators, especially since I was traveling lightly) the ceiling on the 4th floor was quite low. Being rather tall, I had to avoid bumping my head - and when I got up in the middle of the night - sure enough - I gave it a real whack in my partial sleep. I’m grateful for the complimentary shower hair covering provided in the bathroom, because I put it on in order to avoid blood stains on the pillow cases and sheets. Well, I didn’t expect that, but the staff was sweet about it all and entered a note in my profile that next time (and there will be a next time) I’d prefer a room on a floor with higher ceilings.

The room was great, clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and the facilities were mostly good. My biggest problem was the wifi. I’ve been travelling for two months through Europe and the USA and didn’t have a problem until I was in Switzerland so it may be more of a Swiss issue than the hotel.

Great location. Very clean and up to date hotel. I was placed on the 4th floor in tbd attic and the floor in the room had a big slope and the ceiling was low. It felt a bit off.

Nicely located in Old Town, close to restaurants and the lake, and walkable to the train station. We had the only room with a balcony, thank you so much. Even though it rained initially we were able to enjoy it later on. The room was quite spacious. Aand walkabkw

The rooms were tiny and mine had no view as it backed on to a wall. All windows were just a facade The lighting was terrible in the rooms but the room was clean and the bed was comfy. The pillows were excellent and it was lovely and warm. No coffee makers in room but free tea and coffee in reception all day and there’s a lovely little restaurant downstairs. The staff were friendly and helpful. The property is historic and located perfectly to explore old town Zürich, great shopping and walks along the river. I would not stay there again but for a short stint if you wanted to be very local for walking through beautiful old town you’ll be fine.

Staff were friendly, and helpful. very eco conscious, loved the water with the jugs and glasses on each floor. The room however was disappointing the whole room was on a slope I felt like it was a tent pitched at the side of a mountain. Not advisable for tall people, I’m 5’6 and the ceiling I could almost touch on my tippy toes, felt like I was in an attic.

Staff were friendly, and helpful. very eco conscious, loved the water with the jugs and glasses on each floor. The room however was disappointing the whole room was on a slope I felt like it was a tent pitched at the side of a mountain. This is a very quaint hotel. The rooms are different from each other because it is an odd -shaped building, but our room was very large and spacious with three tall windows, high ceilings, wooden floor, and very comfortable bed. The bathroom had such a heated floor and heated towel rack. The room had a single comfortable reading chair and, although there was also a desk chair, I wish there had been another reading chair for both of us to use when we wanted to just sit and visit in the evening. There was certainly plenty of room for another one. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, and there was a comfortable area in the reception area where we they provided free coffee or tea. The location was ideal - in the middle of old town and just a short walk to the river and near many, many restaurants.

Absolutely phenomenal service and gorgeous hotel. The location is excellent and the breakfast was great and the beds were beyond comfy!

The staff was great, especially Paola. A very comfortable & welcoming hotel. The shower water pressure was great, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is within a 15 minute walk from the train station, a 2 minute walk to the Limmat river, & lots of places to eat around.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was tucked into a quiet area but very close to the city center and attractions. Food options weren’t that great(pricey) but there were many options nearby. Overall would definitely recommend the hotel.

The location of the hotel could not have been better. It was smack in middle of the old town and the room that we booked (Double king) was pretty big to accomodate 2 adults and 1 toddler. The bathroom was clean and so was the rest of the room and the lobby. My only red/orange flag with this hotel was that the receptionists were not very friendly, sometimes being rude. Also, beware of the breakfast option the hotel provides at a cost, it wasn't good. They charged 18 CHF for a very underwhelming brekkie at a restaurant downstairs.

Our stay was wonderful in every respect. Staff was very friendly and helpful, including having our room ready three hours early and arranging early morning transportation to the airport for our departure. Room was large and comfortable. Staff provided adapters for our chargers. Area was quiet. Cafe staff was friendly and helpful. Old town location was great, 1 block from the river and streetcar/tram and a 15 minute walk to the train station. Highly recommend this hotel - just a great stay and service overall.

Comfortable rooms with an excellent location located in the heart of the old city. Strongly recommend you request a taxi or car from the hotel as the regular taxis from the train station or airport do not have access to drive in the old city so you end up toting luggage up step streets.

Dejligt mindre hotel med store lyse værelser. God plads på både værelse og bad. Ligger i roligt område med mange gode cafeer og restauranter i nærheden. Yderst hjælpsomt og imødekommede personale. Morgenmaden er fin, med et (mindre) udvalg af gode oste og forskelligt pålæg, et lille udvalg af brødprodukter, samt birchermüsli, yoghurt og friskskåret frugt. God kaffe og te. Morgenmaden nydes i lokaler, der også tilhører hotellet Diner. I booked a single room but was pleasantly surprised to get a nice sized room and bathroom with a queen or double bed and air conditioning. The front staff was very helpful with where to go and how to get there. Breakfast downstairs was very good.

Great location 1/2 block from tram stop in the middle of downtown, short walk to river walk and lake. Located on street with a lot of restaurants. AC in each room, elevator to main floors with minor steps required to access some rooms. Did not use breakfast option. Staff at reception helpful and nice.

The hotel is very well situated in the old town. Please note there is no parking at the hotel or near it since it is pedestrian walking only, however cabs are allowed to come. The property itself is very clean and the staff were wonderful. I read the reviews before booked the smallest room which says how small it is. I’m 5 foot 2 inches tall, so very short and was in room 404. I could easily touch the ceiling! If you are taller this wouldn’t not be comfortable for someone over 5 foot 8 inches tall. For me it worked and was very clean and the shower was lovely.

I had a long layover and this was ideal for staying centrally, close for transportation back to the airport and access to restaurants and the lake nearby. Quiet room to refresh and helpful staff to get my on the right transportation the next morning.
