hotel tres bien situé pour la visite à pied de Sienne. Personnel agréable. hotel calme avec une très belle vue de certaines chambres et du roof top. Parking un peu exigu à certains endroits , mais le voiturier manoeuvre votre voiture si nécessaire.

Great hotel just inside Sienna. Once parked just walked everywhere. Breakfast was Excellent and staff wonderful! Quiet rooms. Only thing missing is a pool

The staff was excellent and very attentive. They showed us the are and helped with finding stores and locations to visit in the area. The room and view was great. The restaurant and bar were nice and we felt entertained staying at the hotel for the evening. The breakfast Buffett in the morning was amazing.

We had an excellent experience at Hotel Athena. We chose this hotel mostly because they had car parking included and the room price was reasonable, not knowing much else about where to stay in Siena. The town center is a short walk from the hotel and the staff was very helpful. They recommended a restaurant that was one of the best places we ate on our trip to Italy. Beautiful views from the rooftop restaurant as well.

Lovely hotel, convenient to Piazza di Campo and Siena city center. The front desk staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. Great recommendations for wineries and dinner. Parking was super easy, there is plenty available just next to the hotel, but we were always able to find street parking right in front. The breakfast was abundant with tons of options. The only knocks are the room is very hot, the ac was not cooling at all, beds and pillows are very hard & the bar staff was terrible. The downstairs bar was never open and the 7th floor bar/restaurant staff were terrible. After going to the bar twice and seeing how it was run and how the restaurant was run we chose to never eat there so can’t comment on the food. We bought food and wine and local markets and had dinner on our balcony, which was lovely. We would absolutely stay again, but would choose to have cocktails and dinner elsewhere or bring them back to our room and eat on the balcony.

Great hotel. Professional, friendly, helpful staff in all positions. Nice room, beautiful views. The only tricky part is parking. Make sure you have a definite plan in place before you arrive at the top of the mountain. You may not drive into the restricted area just past the hotel. The hotel does have small lots and valet right in front of the door (although it looks like a no parking zone).

Parking was guaranteed and had sufficient space. 2 open car parks and one huge garage. Walking distance to places of interest. Rooms were spacious. I will recommend it

Lobby was welcoming and the room was immaculate. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Housekeeping was done daily and perfectly. Breakfast buffet was bountiful and staff was efficient.

A lovely hotel in the historical centre with parking. Good choice for breakfast . Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Unwelcoming Check-In: The check-in experience was marred by the unfriendly and discourteous behavior of the reception staff. Dog Policy Communication: The hotel's policy regarding dogs was conveyed in a less-than-professional manner. When asked about a doctor, I was suggested to go to the emergency room. I found my own private doctor online for a minor infection that did not require emergency service. Room Upgrade Needed: There is black mold on the bathtub seals, negatively impacting overall cleanliness and comfort. Front Desk Assistance: The front desk staff exhibited a lack of responsiveness and warmth, offering unhelpful advice when asked for assistance. They did not proactively provide help with luggage, and we were not informed about the availability of an elevator from the garage; as a result, we had to carry our luggage up the stairs, and they simply watched. Value Perception: The overall experience did not align with the expected value for the money spent. Suggestions for Improvement: Implement comprehensive training for concierge staff to enhance professionalism and guest satisfaction at the front desk. Consider cross-training front desk staff with housekeeping or breakfast service personnel, known for their courtesy and guest-oriented approach. When guests inquire about a doctor, provide a more suitable response than suggesting the emergency room, offering guidance or recommendations for non-emergency medical issues.

Mostly very nice - very friendly and helpful front desk staff; large room; quiet location; good A/C; nice terrace; very new and modern bathroom but the bottom of the shower door was filthy dirty.

We loved that the hotel was on the edge of Siena, but just inside the city wall, so that we could drive right up to the hotel and park but then walk easily anywhere in the city. The hotel itself was lovely, with fantastic staff and excellent breakfast. Our room was clean, very comfortable, with nice decor. We would definitely return to the Hotel Athena - perfect for us in Siena.

The hotel has free parking but that is pretty much all in terms of pluses. The layout of the hotel is strange, the rooms are dated, the bed is uncomfortable.

The only downside to this hotel is the poor WIFI, surprising when you consider the rest of the property.

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. The property is not quite as rustic as some of the others in Siena - it looks like it was updated inside about 10-15 years ago but it’s still in wonderful shape - just not quite rustic or very modern. Coming from a hotel the night before that was also wonderful but rustic I found the better AC and more modern interior amenities a welcome change. I was in a nice big room on the 8th floor with a stunning view from the window and a soaker tub and we loved it. The staff is what really makes this property stand out and why I’d not consider staying anywhere else in Siena next time I come. From the bellhop who parked my car and brought my luggage up - remembering our names two days later when he had to get the car. From the wonderful lady at the front desk who upgraded my room for a tiny fee when she found out we were on our honeymoon. They even got me a reservation that very same night (Saturday of Palio!) at a Osteria da Divo.

L'isolation interne de l'hôtel est horrible. On entend les gens qui parlent dans la chambre voisine, et le reste aussi ... Sans parler du WC de la chambre du dessus, quand les gens tirent la chasse d'eau on a l'impression que ca coule dans sa propre chambre. Dans la salle de bains une douche cabine tres petite (plus de 80 kg s'abstenir !), ce n'est pas au niveau d'un 4 étoiles. Pour le reste, c'était satisfaisant.

The walls are very thin so there is lots of noise and people come & go at all hours. House keeping starts at 7:30 with hoovering the corridor and we had a someone above us who was in the shower at 6am and it was very noisy, and to top it off there was a very loud snorer somewhere in the hotel on our last night. Sleeping pills recommended for a good nights sleep.

We stayed at hotel Athena for one night traveling from the Dolomites to the Amalfi coast. The town of Siena is beautiful and the view was amazing from our room. However, given the 4 start rating I would have expected better. I do believe this hotel was once a 4 star hotel, but probably several decades ago. It was dated and had very thin walls. We had just traveled from a 5 start hotel - and it was a true 5 start hotel. I would compare Athena to a 2 star hotel. The walls are very thin, could hear people walking and talking like they were right next to us. Thankfully we didn’t hear anyone late or early in the morning. The room was clean, staff kind and helpful and we did have a good nights sleep. We were at the hotel for about 14 hours in total for shower and sleep. If I stayed in Siena again, we would look for other accommodations. However, I would love to see Hotel Athena after a renovation. I would pay 4x the amount for a newer, more aesthetically pleasing hotel.

The staff is awesome - probably the friendliest and most helpful of any staff at any hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Italy. :) The location is great - easy to walk to all of the main attractions in Siena. I had a car - their lot is easy to access but the garage is tough to navigate and I had to ask for help pulling my car out. Great breakfast. Lively atmosphere - not stuffy or pretentious. Feels genuine and authentic. I would stay here again.

A mixed experience at this hotel. We had a wonderful, friendly check-in experience. The room was a little small and cramped but clean. There was going to be a train strike over the weekend so we cut our stay short by a day and when we went down to ask for help getting a dinner reservation and a cab to the train station early the next morning, the person at the front desk was not only rude, but told us we should have given them more notice for dinner and it was unlikely we would get a cab at 6am. Thankfully, someone new on the desk the following morning cheerfully ordered our taxi and they were there 15 minutes later. Also, had a wonderful, albeit late, dinner at their rooftop restaurant which the front desk clerk assured us was impossible for a same day request

Excellent stay at the Hotel Athena, friendly staff, convenience location, packing convenience, our 2nd stay here at the Athena , will always stay here when we visit Siena!

All the staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. Serena was particularly outstanding, helping us with everything from dinner reservations, to self-service laundry location, to onward travel bus arrangements when "work in progress" disrupted the train schedule. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and excellently located. Breakfast was a superb range of sweet and savory buffet, and dinner on the terrace was delicious (wirh a grand view).

The pictures of the rooms displayed on the website doesn’t match with the actual rooms. Booked a triple room with a view but ended up in a dark room with small windows looking to a street. The front desk staff was ignorant and blamed me. They said there might be an opening for the next day but didn’t even follow up with me. Very disappointed for their attitude. Location is good but hospitality of the front desk was bad.

Staff were professional and very helpful. The breakfasts were great and included healthy options. Bed was super comfortable. There was parking on site and the historic centre was ony a 10 minute walk away. Loved our stay!

Excelente, the very best was the service, in front desk Matteo , Carlos and Daniel are very kind and friendly, very Professional as well as Claudio in the parking garage, also the personal in the restaurant, they make the four star feel like five

Room was great. Location is a bit off the beaten path but easy to walk to everything you need to see in Siena in 15 minutes… everything was clean and the service was impeccable.

This is a great location if you are driving to Siena. It was close to all the attractions. Great view from our room. Easy to find by car and on foot.

Ótima localização. Permite acesso de veículo, com estacionamento e fora da ZTL, e caminhando 5 minutos você está no centro antigo de Siena.

It’s a bit far from the heart of Siena city center but walkable.

Close walk to inside the walled city

This hotel was "fine." Reminded me of a Hilton. Taxi drivers said it was very typical for Americans to stay here. Nothing special. Reminded me of a chain hotel trying to be "boutique." Avoid the restaurant.....terrible. if we return to Siena, we will probably stay somewhere that really is a boutique property.

Hotel bem confortável, camas e banheiro bons. O atendimento também é bom. Só deixa a desejar, e muito, na comida e atendimento do restaurante para quem quer ou precisa almoçar ou jantar lá. Evitem, se puderem! A comida é ruim. Pedi uma massa com bacalhau e abobrinha. Não senti nenhum gosto do bacalhau e a abobrinha tinha gosto de vinagre. Os pratos dos outros da família também não estavam bons. Uma pena! Porém, o café da manhã é muito bom!

Très bien situé, visite de Sienne à pied depuis l'hôtel (malgré tout accessible en voiture hors ZTL). Chambre grande, très confortable. Petit déjeuner buffet remarquable avec de très bons produits et du personnel accueillant. L'hôtel met en avant sa terrasse avec vue sur les remparts. C'est vrai, mais elle exposée sud et ouest, donc très ensoleillée en fin de journée, attention aux journées chaudes ! Nous n'avons pas essayé le restaurant sur la terrasse.

Really enjoyed staying at The Athena. Service was excellent! Everyone was very helpful, friendly & welcoming. Breakfast had a great selection & food in the restaurant was very good. We had a wonderful time!
