The property is nice and has an amazing view. However for a 5 star expensive hotel, they really need to consider doing the following: 1. Consider a welcome drink at the time of check in 2. Consider hydration and coffee station on the main hotel entrance level 3. The rooms are nice but the hallway floor is not padded so at night you hear every step of a flip flop outside the room door 4. The swimming pool closes at 6 pm. That is way too early. Consider extending pool time to 8 pm. 5. You cannot eat at pool side. If you want to eat or have dessert, you have to leave your poolside lounge and go sit in their pool restaurant. Consider changing that policy. It is nice to eat at the pool side. 6. Not all the waiters are well trained. I asked one of the terrace waiters to get me french fries. His reply was that I cannot get French fries unless I order a cheese burger. I had to call for head waiter to solve this issue. Finally, I ended up getting my side of fries only, without having to order the burger. 7. The gym is very small with mediocre equipments. There is no view to the outside. It is located at basement level. 8. They need to upgrade the coffee provided in the rooms. The quality is poor. 9. The food quality was average. We actually went to their sister hotel ambasciotori and had dinner there one night and food quality was way better. 10. There are weddings almost every day. The night before we left they had a wedding/party with loud music past midnight.

This hotel is outstanding!! Beautiful property. Has lounge chairs and service at water area with lift to get there. Wonderful breakfast. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed, steps to the Piazza Tasso. I highly recommend!

This is truly a classic grand hotel. Friendly staff Clean Accommodations Manicured grounds It is important to note that the facility is on a cliff with stunning views. The flip side is that the water access is a pier accessed by elevator. This is the case with most waterfront locations in Sorrento

Beautiful property, and the terrace was the best view in Sorrento. The nightly sunset views were breathtaking. The onsite restaurant offers delicious and elegant meals, one of our favorite dishes was the tagliolini with pawns and brown butter sauce.The hotel staff were nice and attentive. Our room was perfect with a lovely balcony where we could wind down in the evening after a day of adventures. Conveniently located, 5 minute walk, to center of town for shopping and dining.

This property’s customer service was next level! The patios, terraces, pool areas, and water front areas were beautifully maintained and incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The walk into town for shopping and food was only a few minutes and felt very safe even late at night.

Their location is outstanding. The pool, terrace and dining facilities have perhaps the most spectacular view I have ever seen. Watching the sunset, looking at Mt. Vesuvius and Naples while listening to their piano player and enjoying an exceptional dinner is an experience I will always treasure!

The room we had many, many ants and smelled bad- like garbage at certain times of the day. I suspect it was close to a garbage or dumpster for the restaurant. The room had very little to no soundproofing, you could hear people stomping down the hallway and talking at all hours. Overall, the hotel felt stuck up and restrictive (ex: you could not eat anything by the pool, you had to walk over to a different area of the hotel and then go back to the pool). The breakfast was sad and food of poor quality, and in a cold banquet hall room rather than one of the nice outdoor spaces. It attracted rude customers, ie: those that were entitled and happy to blow cigar smoke in your face for hours. Did not feel comfortable or welcoming and would not go back.

Everything was great. Very high end hotel and very well maintained. The grounds and views were outstanding. One small suggestion would be to put felt on the bottom of the chairs in the guest rooms. The rooms all have beautiful tile floors, but when another guest above or beside you moves their chair, it makes a very loud noise like scratching your nails on a chalk board….

The property is in a spectacular and convenient location. Short walking distance to the city center and train and bus station. The terrace view of the gulf and marina piccola are fantastic and invite to a drink at sunset. The dining options are plenty for dinner and breakfast is for every needs and taste including gluten-free options. Rooms comfortable and clean. In summary a great location for your Sorrento stay.

We paid handsomely for a sea view and got it. The view was magnificent the room was kept clean, although room amenities like soap and bottled water were sparingly dispensed. Although some of the hotel staff were attentive and friendly, many were not. However, one employee, Mauro, was particularly helpful all throughout our 7 night stay.

Grand Hotel Royal exceeded our expectations. Even before we arrived, the level of customer care and was exceptional. They gave us a gift and handwritten note for our anniversary which was a thoughtful touch. We had a problem with our toilet that was not able to be repaired so they swiftly moved us to a different room. They arranged round trip Naples train station transportation and when the ferry to Positano was unexpectedly cancelled, they saved the day and arranged a driver to take us.The hotel is walking distance to everything- shopping, ferry, sights and dining. The room & bathroom were spacious and immaculate with daily toiletries and water. The breakfast room is lovely, overlooking the serene gardens, and the breakfast had great variety. We highly recommend Grand Hotel Royal and plan to return!

We very much enjoyed our 7 night stay in the hotel. The views over the bay are spectacular (boats, Vesuvius and sunsets). Easy walking distance to town centre. Rooms and hotel spotless. Food great. Staff all friendly and helpful. Would love to return!

The property is beautiful and the staff are welcoming. The views are to die for from your room. The breakfast is really nice and the pool is beautiful. The jacuzzi which is part of the pool was a nice addition but could have been warmer. The rooms are a generous size and gorgeous. You have a turn down service at night and left a chocolate which was touching. I throughly recommend staying here, it was first class in every aspect.

Beautiful property, and the terrace was the best view in Sorrento. The nightly sunset views were breathtaking. The onsite restaurant offers delicious and elegant meals, one of our favorite dishes was the tagliolini with pawns and brown butter sauce.The hotel staff were nice and attentive. Our room was perfect with a lovely balcony where we could wind down in the evening after a day of adventures. Conveniently located, 5 minute walk, to center of town for shopping and dining.

Everything was great. Very high end hotel and very well maintained. The grounds and views were outstanding. One small suggestion would be to put felt on the bottom of the chairs in the guest rooms. The rooms all have beautiful tile floors, but when another guest above or beside you moves their chair, it makes a very loud noise like scratching your nails on a chalk board….

I cannot more enthusiastically recommend Gran Hotel Royal. We had bay view rooms which were amazing, especially at night with the balconies. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and service impeccable. My son sprained his ankle prior to our stay and they had crutches available as well as further recommendations for medical care. If we are ever back in Sorrento we would stay at the Grand Hotel Royal without hesitation.

Front desk Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to assist you to make sure you had an enjoyable stay. The huge veranda overlooking the Bay of Naples was amazing for drinks and lunch.

The property is nice and has an amazing view. However for a 5 star expensive hotel, they really need to consider doing the following: 1. Consider a welcome drink at the time of check in 2. Consider hydration and coffee station on the main hotel entrance level 3. The rooms are nice but the hallway floor is not padded so at night you hear every step of a flip flop outside the room door 4. The swimming pool closes at 6 pm. That is way too early. Consider extending pool time to 8 pm. 5. You cannot eat at pool side. If you want to eat or have dessert, you have to leave your poolside lounge and go sit in their pool restaurant. Consider changing that policy. It is nice to eat at the pool side. 6. Not all the waiters are well trained. I asked one of the terrace waiters to get me french fries. We paid handsomely for a sea view and got it. The view was magnificent the room was kept clean, although room amenities like soap and bottled water were sparingly dispensed. Although some of the hotel staff were attentive and friendly, many were not. However, one employee, Mauro, was particularly helpful all throughout our 7 night stay.

Absolutely one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Enrico, and the whole staff, were amazing and caring and gave great service. We wish we had stayed longer than a few days at this hotel. Sorrento was our favorite city in our 3 week tour of Italy. So much beautiful coastline, islands, boats and swimming.

Overall very nice place to stay. A little inconsistent in replacing items during housekeeping and charging 7 euro just for water with dinner is a little outrageous. The front desk could be a little better at answering basic questions about Sorrento (for a 5 star hotel - they were fine, but when you're paying $1,500+/night to stay there you expect a little more). An example was getting a straight answer about how the ferries work and the best way to pay for them. The room, property and beach club were all great. We enjoyed snorkeling off their dock.

Excellent 5* hotel, we will definitely be coming back. We had such a lovely holiday and all of the staff are lovely, they made our wedding anniversary so special. Couldn’t recommend this hotel more - it is a hidden gem.

Grand Hotel Royal exceeded our expectations. Even before we arrived, the level of customer care and was exceptional. They gave us a gift and handwritten note for our anniversary which was a thoughtful touch. We had a problem with our toilet that was not able to be repaired so they swiftly moved us to a different room. They arranged round trip Naples train station transportation and when the ferry to Positano was unexpectedly cancelled, they saved the day and arranged a driver to take us.The hotel is walking distance to everything- shopping, ferry, sights and dining. The room & bathroom were spacious and immaculate with daily toiletries and water. The breakfast room is lovely, overlooking the serene gardens, and the breakfast had great variety. We highly recommend Grand Hotel Royal and plan to return!

This property had very comfy beds & great full breakfast! Beautiful view of Mt Vesuvius right on the Amalfi Coast! Will stay there again Sorrento is a beautiful place with lots to offer. Boats to all other towns on the Amalfi coast. Capri, Positano, Amalfi&Atrani, very accessible from Sorrento. You will need a good 7-9 days there to see things. The best seafood we have ever had and reasonable too. This property is walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops.

Beautiful hotel on a lovely piece of property in Sorrento. Hotel itself is quiet and very relaxing yet only a 5 min walk to the busy town square. The room with a sea view balcony was amazing and the swimming deck at sea level was fun! The service was excellent and what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Our only dislike was breakfast was very average. A lot of options to choose from but not as tasty as other places visited. Other than that this hotel is a perfect choice!

Hotel was beautifully appointed and the view looking out at Mt. Vesuvius was spectacular. The staff were so accommodating, especially in the restaurant. The only negative was the Spa experience. No relaxation room, just the room that you have your treatment in. I would highly recommend this 5 Star property in Sorrento.

The room we had many, many ants and smelled bad- like garbage at certain times of the day. I suspect it was close to a garbage or dumpster for the restaurant. The room had very little to no soundproofing, you could hear people stomping down the hallway and talking at all hours. Overall, the hotel felt stuck up and restrictive (ex: you could not eat anything by the pool, you had to walk over to a different area of the hotel and then go back to the pool). The breakfast was sad and food of poor quality, and in a cold banquet hall room rather than one of the nice outdoor spaces. It attracted rude customers, ie: those that were entitled and happy to blow cigar smoke in your face for hours. Did not feel comfortable or welcoming and would not go back.

Incredibly beautiful hotel. Our room was immaculate. The breakfast is wonderful. The staff are great! We spent most our time at the beach which was so relaxing with very helpful staff attending your every need. We truly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Excellent hotel in prime location! If I were to go back to Sorrento this is the only hotel I would choose to stay. Only issue, they should hose down the pool chairs and the hotel room balconies daily because the pigeons leave a lot of their markings. Otherwise, it is a fantastic hotel with a delicious and above and beyond breakfast.
