Wanted to like it, but a number of factors made it hard: 1. Waited 10-15 minutes at 7:30 PM for front desk help to arrive to check in. 2. Gym was limited to non-working treadmill, one set of 30 pound dumbbells, and eliptical (didn't try it), and one broken cable machine. Working gyms are essential. 3. Mold in corner of shower and bathroom was small but gross. 4. Hallway smelled musty. Bright spot: Cook-to-order free breakfast was excellent and served quickly. Compliments to the kitchen staff.

The check in was good, my room was clean. The property is old, worn and dirty. The pool area was awful, especially the bathrooms. Both of them closed and when you opened the door it was a bio hazard.

We enjoyed most things about this place. It is an older hotel but fairly well kept up. We had a 3 wheeled chair in the room that hopefully will be replaced before the next guest sits on it. Otherwise no big issues. Pool and hot tub were clean and enjoyable. The breakfast was basic on two of the days but a buffet on Saturday. We preferred the buffet. The walk out the back was amazing and goes right along the Snake River trail. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again when in the area.

Worn down older property. Has the potential to be a Beautiful place due to location by the river. Needs some much needed TLC. Parking lot is a bit soooky at night could use some decent lighting. Staff was great bed comfortable breakfast by the river was decent.

Easy access from interstate. Great pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room area. Restaurant and bar on site. We would definitely stay again.

The place felt old, tired, and in need of an update. The staff was very helpful is resolving an issue with a broken bed in the first room we were put in. They ended up moving us to a different room with a better bed. The bathroom grout and tile in the second room was in really poor condition, but the rest of the room was fine. The room was very spacious. The pool was okay. It had a nice view out to the river. Both bathrooms in the pool area were out of order. Both the sauna and steam room were not working. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. It was in the hotel restaurant and was made to order. The person working it did a great job. I personally wouldn’t stay again if it stays in the current condition, but there were some positives to staying there including the staff and the location.

This place is a dump. It's clearly a hotel where the owners have said 'don't put a penny into it, just run it into the ground'. From the dollar store plastic flowers out front, do the gross stains on the couch and carpet, to just broken stuff everywhere, clearly apathy has overrun this hotel entirely. it's really sad to see. It's a dump. No breakfast buffet because I guess they don't have any guests, so they have a simple 'order' menu, it was fine I guess. But really, just black mold lining the shower, there were TWO tissues in the tissue holder. This hotel may have been nice in the 1970s when it was built, but it is not being cared for at all properly.

Everything was dirty. There was no soap in our room and the towels had stains on them. The walls had stains, and the staff at the front desk did not want to help with problems. Our key stopped working when we went to the pool and then the pool door is completely shut down and didn't work and they had to get maintenance to open the pool. The complimentary breakfast was not good at all. A big bowl of yogurt with no toppings, and all of the cupboards underneath the breakfast were broken or painted horribly. Definitely a scary place to get food. All in all, one of the worst hotels I have ever been to. The area outside was beautiful for walking in the back though.

Got to our room and the bed wasn’t made went back and asked for a different room. Second room wasn’t very clean. Splashes of stuff on the walls, crusty stuff all over the couch and just generally dirty. Sheets were inside out but clean to the best of my knowledge ledge. Hallway carpets don’t look like they are vacuumed in a while. Went for breakfast and the lady cooking seemed overwhelmed and said they thought everyone had come for breakfast already so they had sent the cook home so now she would be cooking. Food came out in a timely manner. Hotel has great potential but needs so maintenance and a deep clean.

This hotel could be great if it was cleaned!!! Our rooms were FILTHY!!!!! Ice bucket had used Q-tips and to go coffee cup in it. The last guest had obviously used as garbage can and no one bothered to look in it. the bathroom was so gross I had to clean it. The dust on the furniture made piles when you wiped it. My son and his girlfriend had the same problem minus the ice bucket...instead when they walked into their room the refrigerator door was open , like someone was in the middle of cleaning and forgot to finish? Went down in the morning to get coffee. The restaurant was just as bad. Breakfast buffet had an inch of dust on the counter around it. The wall by the garbage can that was by the buffet had not been wiped for months. Food stuck on it and stuff running down stuck on. When I spoke to someone they didn't give a crap, said Oh I'm sorry that's too bad We did not have time to find another place to stay or I would have. If you stay here bring cleaning supplies with you.

The pictures on the site are VERY deceiving! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! I cant even load all the nast photos since only 8 are allowed. When pulling up to the hotel I thought I arrived at the wrong one. Parking lot is falling apart and you about break an ankle walking in, smells dusty, musty and moldy. Check in staff was nice. Got to our room and OMG. Their was poop streaks in our toilet, hair in the shower, i didnt even want to know what behind the toilet, hadnt been vacuumed and cobwebs. Their was some white substance on the tv guide we didnt dare touch. We could run out fast enough in the morning. The pool was also shut down. Probably a good thing after seeing the state of the rest of the hotel. It os very run down and not maintained AT ALL! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!!

The room was spacious and the bed was wonderful (good mattress and lovely bedding). Unfortunately, we couldn’t use the shower (shower nozzle didn’t work), no shampoo had been left for us, tissue box was almost empty, and there was dried coffee on the coffeemaker.

This was by far the nicest motel i stayed at. The front desk upgraded my room without me asking, to a river front view with a balcony! The front desk was wonderful to work with. The parking was abundant and easy for my big truck. It was right on the river with a beautiful view. The room was incredible: large, clean, comfortable. I will definitly stay there again if i pass through! Highly recommended.

The facility is old and in need of renovation and upgrades. For example, I had to put my foot against the side of the tub and pull the shower control knob with both hands in order to turn on the shower. The staff, however, are great especially Marla who runs the breakfast service. The low price makes the shortcomings bearable.

The hotel room is very large, although somewhat dated. Overall, the hotel was very good. Some of the exit doors were locked, which made it a long way to go to the vehicle. Overall, very pleasant.

NEVER BOOK THIS HOTEL!!! We checked in at 5 pm and our room had not been cleaned. They gave us another room and it had been smoked in, the bed was lumpy and sagging, the carpet was thread bare and torn up. When we want to talk to manager he got upset and yelled at us and told us to get out. We had to work with Expedia staff to get refund and had to sleep on floor at family members house because all hotels were sold out.

The gal working during the day was nice but the evening and noc shift left something to be desired, in general staff gave the impression they barely knew what they were doing. We have been coming to Idaho Falls for Thanksgiving for the last 4 years and we’ve always stayed at the Shilo. The last 3 years we were treated great. We have 2 small dogs and usually only paid 1 $25 pet fee, always were given a ground floor. Last year we were even upgraded to a patio room for no extra charge. This year we not only didn’t get a ground floor but we were charged at least $100 pet fee. We have stayed at a couple of different places at times we were staying there in July but each time decided we didn’t want to stay anywhere but the Shilo. After this stay we are seriously considering looking into a new place

Unfortunately it took over 30 min to check in. There was a line out the door and zero other staff to help the 1 front desk staff, but the guy working was very courteous. The room was clean but dated. The complimentary breakfast was horrible. We saw multiple people come in, check out the offerings then leave. Probably the worst hotel/motel breakfast we've had. Surprising because of the hotel rating. The room was clean but the buffet was gross and in disrepair. There were cupboard doors missing that were laying inside inside the cabinet, there were cobwebs, the whole breakfast experience was bad. I really dont like leaving such harsh words, but honestly, even if the food and offerings were going to he bad, it could have at least been clean and tidy. For the price we were super disappointed. We will not stay there again.

Rooms are very spacious with plenty of furniture to place suitcases on instead of the bed! Our room was very clean and overall wonderful. Yes the hotel is an older hotel with normal wear and tear but that is to be expected. The desk clerks were so friendly and helpful. They appeared to enjoy their job which is rare these days!

If I could give the Shilo Inn a 0 I would. Checked in at normal time. They said that breakfast was in a sperate area. Did not say you had to have a breakfast voucher to even get one and didn't even get offered one. So went down for breakfast they said I needed a voucher and they were separate from the motel. So I went to the front desk to complain and the manager started yelling and cussing at me. And called the cop's to have me 86's off the property. Worst experience ever. If you want to stay at a place where you get treat horrible this is the place. I'll never again stay with this place again

This hotel has easy access to the walking path that leads to the falls and Friendship Gardens. Lots of dining options within walking distance. Ask for a river view when booking. Customer service during check in could have been better but overall, I would stay here again.

The location was awesome on the river. Staff was very nice and quite helpful. The breakfast was good with plenty to choose from. The room was clean plus quite large "but" the entire facility is in need of an upgrade or remodel.

Location, location, location. Always book a view if the river. You are right on top of the river walk. We stayed in early May and had non stop entertainment from all the baby ducks and goslings. A short walk from Idaho Falls. Food was goo in the restaurant

Room well kept, but several things in this hotel weren't being maintained, such as a hairdryer that had come off the wall. Lobby couch had a broken leg. Landscaping around the parking not well kept. Sad, because this is a nice location and the restaurant is good with friendly staff. A walking trail between the hotel and the river is a plus.

The place was very old, but so clean and kept up.. Our room was large compared to Hiltons..etc. It's a walk out the back of the building to the falls and Historic downtown area. Very beautiful and safe location.

Eggs were cold. No tea , had to ask for hot water to make are own tea, They put room security on our bill and not on hold which is not good because we are Canadian and the exchange when the Visa company put it back on with a difference of almost $10. If they have put it on a hold like most hotels do it’s not a charge therefore, you don’t get penalized $10 when they take it off. Otherwise place was easy to access older hotel still clean. staff was friendly. They just made the one mistake on putting the Visa charge through and put it on hold.

Caitlyn at the front desk was excellent. The room he put us in was great. Nice fluffy towels and smooth feeling sheets. The breakfast was delicious restaurant style not buffet. We give this hotel two thumbs up👍👍

A bit later, the second person (a guy) came out and finished our check in and told us that the first gal was watching/listening to an entertaining thing that she left us hanging to return to finish. Instead of finishing our late night check in, after a very long day of traveling, she just walked away back to her entertainment!? That was very rude and unprofessional of her.

Wow what a wonderful place to stay and rest. Beds and pillows absolutely top notch and cozy and comfortable. Pool awesome and hot tub very nice (though a few times missing around the top edge). Breakfast the next morning was delicious (you order off a menu and it is delivered to your table). Such a great place when you are travelling. Will be coming back on our travels down to States.
