We stayed at the Renaissance for a staycation. We fell in love with the decor last year when we stopped inside to grab a coffee at their lobby cafe. Service is great and the rooms are perfect. The one thing I would have liked was if the pool area was a little more cared for. The pool noodles need to be replaced. Overall a great place for kids and the location is ideal.

Beautiful hotel right where everything is! Great staff who were eager to help with our things. Room was refreshed every day. Pool area was clean and it was warmed. High class place for work or pleasure. I will stay there again!

For over $350 a night for an upgraded Jr Suite, we immediately entered an obviously unclean guest room. Even my husband who is usually super laid back and oblivious noticed the layer of filth on the countertops and floors. I called the front desk right away to ask for a change of rooms but was denied and only offered to have our room cleaned by housekeeping. Who wants to wait around for housekeeping so they can clean while you’re trying to unpack? We had to decline because we were traveling with our special needs kiddo. She can’t handle the noise of vacuums. So instead we spent the first 30 mins of our mini vacay cleaning our own room. Ridiculous. Both room service and restaurant food was subpar at best. The pool was freezing and in need of major repairs including several safety issues. We were honestly shocked by all of this as this isn’t exactly a Motel 6 and most of the other reviews are pretty positive. It was such a let down as this was our daughter’s first trip to the big city. Only true positive: location is great. Pay the extra price for river view though. City view just gets you some pretty impressive rooftops to look at. Totally unimpressed and disappointed.

This is one of the best stays I’ve had in Chicago. It’s located near public transit, plenary of dining options, shopping, and various activities and fun places. The staff was always prompt, friendly, and attentive. And the indoor pool and workout facilities were very nice. I’m already planning to book another stay soon!

This hotel was beautiful! The location is perfect and within walkable distance to any spot in downtown. The rooftop bar is so cute with an amazing view. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

It wasnt our first choice but we needed something quickly that was available with a pool and hot tub as our original hotels pool area was out of service due to a pipe burst the day before we went to check in. We were under the assumption that they did had a hot tub but upon arrival we learned they did not and a bit disappointed as it was our last night of spring break and looked forward to relaxing in it before a long drive home. Pool was a bit too cold for us to swim. Would most likely stay again but maybe in the summer time.

This was my second time visiting this property because i liked it so much the first. This time I brought my kids. They loved the room, pool, and being in walking distance from attractions, shopping, and good food. This will be our go to place to stay when visiting the city.

Beautiful property. The lobby is very impressive. My first thought upon entering was to look forward to having a drink at the bar with friends and family that night. Room and bathroom very clean. Fabulous view from my room 1930. Concierge and driveway/valet attendees were very helpful with taxis/Uber assistance as I was traveling with my 86 year old Mother. On two separate occasions they offered to drive us to our destination in the hotel SUV (small fee. It worth it).

Rooms and hallways are outdated. There was hair stuck to the ceiling, the air vent in the shower had lint and mold inside it. Found a contact on the floor in bathroom that wasn’t mine. Popcorn ceilings. Pillows are flat, blankets are thin. Convenient location, free popcorn and waters daily.

Overall, this place was great. It was well decorated and modern in the lobby area. Super convenient to lots of things. My two main complaints were the room smelled of feet so bad we had to buy something to mask the smell. The cleaners came so early while we were still getting ready and often never returned. When they did, they were friendly and did a good job. The other and bigger complaint is that the hotel is on a very busy corner meaning it’s extremely noisy all night long. There are MANY sirens and loud cars that can be heard quite loud making it hard to sleep. Perhaps the windows could be thicker. Anyway over all it’s a fine hotel but if I had it to do again, I’m not sure it would be my first choice.

I really like this hotel, everything is walking distance, my only complaint is for the price of this hotel the rooms must be cleaner, the bathroom had mold on the walls and the edges of the bathtub and there was dust everywhere in the room, apparently it had not been used for a long time.

We travel often and are picky about hotels. Amenities have to be valuable, price has to be competitive and it has to be centrally located. This was all of the above. Location can’t be beat, Starbucks connected to the property, beds were comfortable and the bathroom had nice amenities. Generally we felt the room was clean and well kept. We also loved that you could get great tasting cold water from the workout room!! Things that can be improved-more hooks for towels, bags in bathroom. This was a struggle. Sink area was small for two people. Bathroom door wouldn’t stay open which meant we used the garbage to keep it open often. Finally, the “resort/amenity fee” offers some benefit, but not enough to merit the price of it each day. Usually avoid hotels with these fees, but wanted the location so settled. Probably won’t pick it again if the price is my competitive.

Many hotels provide complimentary internet access. The hotel offered free access to their service for members of their rewards program if one also booked directly with them. As I booked through Travelocity, they wanted a substantial charge even though I was a rewards member. I declined, and then found my cellular and WiFi useless on the property.

While it may be a little outdated with new on top of old and much needed plumbing, including the toilets for tots, which were so low I felt I was in the woods, leaning up against a tree to do my business. Other than that the service was excellent, and the location is stupendous, right there in “the loop.”

Just stayed for one night. Everything was "very good', especially the view from my "large" window overlooking the canal - very nice! Only one negative: the TV would only access 3 of the regular channels, and when I dialed in ShowTime, the service provider's symbol(Enseo) would not exit the screen - it stayed right in the middle of the screen for the entire length of the movie. Thinking about a letter to the manager requesting a partial courtesy credit for the inconvenience(?).

Very good hotel with a great location. Front desk has always been friendly and helpful. Quiet room and comfortable bed. Clean as well. Only complaints which are probably standard for most locations would be; have to pay for wifi and there was a 50 dollar early check in fee.

I had to wait almost one hour for the crib I requested in my room. Had to call like 10 times. Also i was charged tax on my breakfast twice, when i told them the person said I dont know why system did that but cant do anything to help. Staff needs to be more helpful and not rude to their customers.

I had to wait almost one hour for the crib I requested in my room. Had to call like 10 times. Also i was charged tax on my breakfast twice, when i told them the person said I dont know why system did that but cant do anything to help. Staff needs to be more helpful and not rude to their customers.

Overall a great place, expensive but the location is worth it. The only bad thing was the bad service from a valet parking person, I wanted to report it to the manager but apparently they did nothing about it. In fact, the employee told me "Go ahead and report me".

This is one of the best marriotts I’ve stayed at in a long time. I had a very minor incident during my stay with room service and the managers took care of it immediately (including some comp champagne and chocolates) and I was very impressed, I didn’t even have to ask what can they do to make up for it because they beat me to the punch! As a former employee of the Marriott brand I was always love the hotels and this stay reminded me of why I love it so much. Very walkable and so many shopping/food options near by. 10000/10.

We had a fantastic stay! They let us check in several hours early. The front desk staff was extremely helpful. Check in was a breeze. We did have an issue where our TV was not working properly. We called the front desk staff and within 30-45minutes they had already replaced the TV with a brand new one. The restaurant/bar in the lobby was great

We had a lovely view of the river, especially of the city lights at night. The hotel was clean, the bed was especially comfortable, and the staff were lovely. The nearest metro station was a short walk away and there were plenty of dining options nearby. Can't wait to stay here again!

This is one of the best stays I’ve had in Chicago. It’s located near public transit, plenary of dining options, shopping, and various activities and fun places. The staff was always prompt, friendly, and attentive. And the indoor pool and workout facilities were very nice. I’m already planning to book another stay soon!

Very good hotel with a great location. Front desk has always been friendly and helpful. Quiet room and comfortable bed. Clean as well. Only complaints which are probably standard for most locations would be; have to pay for wifi and there was a 50 dollar early check in fee.

Loved the hotel. Room service was so nice and attentive. Dining options could be better but the roof top bar was amazing. The drinks were so good and service was great. Greeters at the entrance were very nice and attentive. If I had anything negative would be that some of the girls in the cafe area where a little rude but nothing serious.

It was an okay experience. We ordered room service and the grilled cheese was not tasty at all. The $100 hold a night I’m not a huge fan of and the room needs updating for the price we paid. Also the mini fridge in the room wasn’t plugged in which took some time to figure out. I give my stay a 6/10

Wonderful hotel near the River and theater district. The best of all worlds- walkable to Michigan Ave, Millenium Park, museums, theaters, River walk, everything! Hotel is chic, clean, beautiful views. Hotel bar is fantastic and the food is delicious.

The hotel itself was nice, but communication and a few amenities were disappointing. I booked through Hotels.com and was told I would pay a $120 destination fee at the property. At check-in, I specifically asked what the destination package included and was told we received complimentary drinks, $15 bar vouchers, and other amenities. I was also told after the fact that Garrett Popcorn was included and that it was listed on a card given at check-in. No one explained this to us, so we never received it. The rooftop bar was one of the main things we were excited about, but it doesn’t open until 4 p.m., so lunch wasn’t an option. It also filled up quickly, and hotel guests don’t receive priority seating. Lastly, most food options close around midnight, and there are no vending machines or convenient late-night options. There is a 7-Eleven within walking distance, but the area felt a little sketchy late at night. Lobby looks grest, for price of hotel but hotel itself needs some TLC. Doors are all scratched, toilet short, old and ran if we didn't make sure to put handle up all way. The details, room smelled like someone partied there the night before.

We enjoyed our stay at Renaissance. The staff were amazing! I especially want to highlight Jon from concierge. He was wonderful to work with and helped make our sister’s birthday special. The only negative is that the hotel is dated as far as the rooms and they could’ve been cleaner. We also didn’t get a chance to utilize the resort fee amenities so we feel like money was wasted there. I wish that was optional.
