Hotel is under renovations but the entrance on side near my room didn’t lock, I was ok with that as I jammed the iron board so my door couldn’t be opened once inside. Bed was extremely comfortable and room was clean. Around 12:30am I found a bedbug. Packed up and left.

Room was neat and clean. Staff was very helpful. No more breakfast. Half the place is no longer used, including the pool. Not that many patrons.

Received an email too late to cancel that there was no pool no gym no food and that they were under major renovations. It was in an heat wave and we were on our way already. I called and there was no discount and they said I was unable to cancel. Found another option. Never checked in. Extremely disappointed and will not stay there in the future either. Poor service and policy.

The price should have been lowered because there was a lot of construction so no amenities as listed. I had to go to the front desk several times to get kitchen supplies that were supposed to be brought to the room and still didn't get what was listed. It was not worth the price.

Hotel is nice and convenient to area attractions. Room is clean and recently renovated. However, property has been undergoing renovations for at least 3 years and there are dumpsters and containers with equipment in most of parking area. Not very inviting. Detracts from facility.

This was once a nice place to stay. It had a pool and continental breakfast but no longer. There are orange extension cords running through the hallways, trash bins and other receptacles in the lower part of the parking lot. It looks like they are trying to hang on but are failing. There are other hotels close by where you can get your money’s worth. You will be disappointed here. I won’t be coming back again.

Place is in rough shape. Reeks of cigarettes (supposed to be non-smoking,…NOT)and dampness. Parts of this old place are under renovation. Dimly lit parking lots, uneven/broken pavement, makes for scary walks with my dog. Did not feel safe. The room we were in had a new bathroom, but already had cigarette burns in it on the ledge. Also had a new bed which was great to sleep in. Breakfast was included, but was just some beverage choices, a few icky pastries, waffle maker blah. We went out to breakfast at MCD’s before driving home. The only thing we liked at this place was the clerk at night check in. When we checked out the day clerk was nice, but looked like she had just rolled out of bed, reading a magazine or paper, not very professional at all. Anchorage Inn may want to consider closing until all Reno’s are done.

Staff was able to get me checked in right away. However, the room was awful. Random mystery stains all over the bathroom light switches and bathroom walls. Used tissue shoved in the tissue box. Fire sprinkler in the bathroom was shoved in with spiders coming out. The bathroom water took 20 minutes to heat up and you have to turn it to "cold" for hot water. Can't adjust the shower head easily, infact, trying to turn it caused the shower head to come loose. The elevator sounds like it's hit with a baseball bat when it starts to move. Not a good experience, won't be staying again.

The staff was friendly and helpful. However, the hotel itself was not great. The room smelled like smoke and was very outdated. The vanity light in the bathroom didn’t work so it was difficult to put on makeup. They were doing renovations so it was not very nice to see. It had central location to water park so it was convenient. Very pricey for the condition to be like this.

Quick overnight stay. Room was clean albeit needing a few repairs. Got a letter saying the hotel was being worked on so maybe they just put us in a room that hadn’t been updated yet. Rug was frayed at the entryway, stained beside the bed. The phone was not connected and looked like it was from the dumpster. Bathroom ceiling tiles we’re pretty bad too. At least the bed was clean and comfortable.

The building was in desperate need of upkeep. The ceiling had water damage, only one of the bedside lamps worked, the ceiling tiles in the bathroom were disintegrating, the showerhead leaked. The room stunk of stale cigarette smoke. On the plus side the bed was clean and comfortable. Given the proximity to the interstate you couldn’t hear it. When I was getting ready to leave the I noticed housekeeping really trying their best to clean common areas.

The room TV was broken and Tom went out of his way to try and remedy the issue, but it wasn't something he could fix that night. He was very understanding and accommodating by moving us to another room and giving us an upgrade at no extra cost.

Perfect for our two nights in Portsmouth. 5 minutes to downtown. Big clean room. Very nice people. I don't care about the breakfast or lobby, got a clean room at a great price. Good wifi too.

While this is not the Ritz, it was undergoing some continuing renovation, so parts of it were very adequate and nice looking. The room was clean and neat, the furniture was relatively up to date.. The Linens and the bed were particularly nice. I had a very comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom had a semi modern feel with good lighting and countertop space for your own toiletries. I would not hesitate to return.

They are renting to people when they are doing upgrades to the hotel. All this noise and banging at 8am when people are trying to sleep in. The Spanish woman at the front desk is terrible with her professionalism and was yelling and screaming at me when I didn't agree with what she said. Meanwhile the manager of the hotel was standing right next to her. The sadness is that they don't know I paid for the hotel each night but tried to tell me I was not a customer. The professional of this place is terrhbl, gross and the manager should be ashamed of herself letting this woman push out customers and disrespect the guests in their hotel. The only thing that was nice were the gentlemen who Ronan the hotel at night. Very respectable, he should be running the front desk in the am greeting customers. Not the bitter Hispanic woman at the front desk who was super disrespectful. She should never be greeting any customers with her foul attitude.

We booked the wrong Anchorage Inn by mistake. After countless phone calls and trying to secure another reservation in Portsmouth, and no luck, we decided to stay. Tom was super personable and friendly. He made up for the lack of amenities. He greeted us when we arrived back at the hotel and asked about our evenings. He was helpful in selecting spots to dine and places to go. It was always a great conversation with Tom! By the time we left, we felt like he was our friend. For sure, the establishment needs bigger towels, more charging stations, cleaner floors, and more amenities, but our room was clean. The bed was comfortable the sheets were cleaned. Thank You Tom!

The hotel was conveniently located near major roads. Naval shipyard and Portsmouth were within walking distance, but roads were busy and unsafe. Traffic noise was unpleasant.

The hotel is a little rough around the edges, the stairs had dirty carpets and there's trash in the parking lot, but at the end of the day the rooms were clean and it's in a great location. It's about a 25 minute walk through safe and scenic neighborhoods to get to Portsmouth center.I would definitely stay again

We had a very nice one night stay. The bathroom was clean and had all the necessary amenities, nothing was broken or dirty, and the bed was comfortable. Upon arrival, the associate at the front desk was extremely friendly and personable. I felt very welcomed. We loved the location as well, very easy commute to restaurants, shopping and downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

Property was under renovation in its 2nd year. Motel stated breakfast sandwiches but no microwave and no sandwiches. Breakfast room was very nice roomy scenic with new big windows. Priceing was resonable. Enjoyed its location for convenance. Staying here now for many years.

Excellent front desk. Very convenient. The room was fine except for terrible beds. The beds were ancient and noisy and couldn't get a good nights sleep.They eliminated the continental breakfast , no juice or pastries etc. Very disappointing.

Checkin went good. Room was clean enough. Beds are comfortable. The only thing I’m really disappointed with was that when I booked “Breakfast included” was advertised but when I checked in I was told there wasn’t any breakfast but there was a market basket down the road. I brought two kids with me so no breakfast really put a a damper on our stay.

Love the anchorage inn for price/location. It’s always quiet and staff are nice. They are doing extensive construction one floor at a time it seems so our floor was older and hallways smell of urine (from when they allowed dogs I’m guessing), but room is very clean. Overall, it’s a great place to stay with proximity to all things in the area for a great price!
