I would have given five stars but the heating in the room was broken and some of the furniture in the room is-was a little shabby in places where you really notice it. Executive lounge is very useful nicely supplied and thoughtfully located. Great view of the city.

A one night stay re a business trip. Hotel was superb but disappointed that after paying for hotel there was an additional 15.00 to park. We only had breast the hotel and this was average considering the cost. We also had a drink in the bar, again. Very expensive and the beer appeared to be flat half way down. We may stay again for the convenience but will likely have all food and drink elsewhere

I stayed with 2 of my daughters. The hotel was amazing, staff very welcoming, space in the room was great. We were lucky enough to have a room with a view over the bridges which was excellent day and night. My girls loved the pool. We will definitely stay again!

Stayed for one night enroute to Edinburgh. Room was very clean and with a spectacular view of the river and bridges. Looses a star, as I feel the parking charge is an unnecessary added cost.

Great location with fantastic views of the Tyne Bridge from the lobby and our room. Only 5 min taxi into Eldon Sq. The kids loved swimming before breakfast. Would definitely recommend and book again. Great clean smart hotel

Not very impressed with the cleanliness of my room. The bathroom was not clean (dirty tub, walls, and sink) and we found a fingernail on the hotel room chair. I brought up the issue with a staff member at the front desk and they requested that my room be re-cleaned. As far as I could tell all they did was make the bed and clean the toilet. The fingernail was still there. At that point I just gave up and went to bed. Will not be returning.

1st & last stay sadly…in their slightest defence the manager tried his best…he’s wasted at the Hilton…staff failed miserably on cleanliness…the 2 rooms I had where despicable…innside by Melia are far superior and immaculate….it’s with a heavy heart I type this…as I’d rather give praise…the final straw was when I stripped the bed to help out house keeping and the quilt was wiped with poo bodily fluids and stained with urine …to think housekeeping actually covered that quilt and I unknowingly slept in it is abhorrent …unfortunately hotels.com’s system will not let me upload anymore photos…just 8! the 2nd rooms view helped

The hotel in general was average. The front desk were professional. The furniture was below average and outdated. The Housekeeping was the worst in the hotel. Minimum care for the cleaning and i had to ask to re-clean the room again.

Amazing service at the hotel, it is situated on a steep hill, if you are travelling from Quayside to the hotel across the red small swing bridge. Hotel room was a little outdated with cracked bathroom tiles, chipped bath and the sheer curtain was a little dirty at the bottom, lampshade was a little dirty too. But staff was so helpful when needing anything, and they did text message when getting into the room to make sure everything was ok.

Lovely hotel - staff were so friendly and helpful and always greeted me with a smile. The room was very comfortable and we had a great view of the river. Couple of minor niggles, the room service tray wasn’t collected for quite a while and I did have to ask for it to be removed. The heating is way too high and I couldn’t adjust it. The bathroom was clean but very tired and in desperate need of updating. The shower wasn’t great and had an old fashioned curtain over the bath that was a little mouldy in places.

Wonderful staff! Especially the lady who delivered room service to two slightly drunken girls at midnight. Quite disappointed that there was no fridge. Also, the bed was really uncomfortable. Not the kind of stay we’re used to at the Hilton!

Great check-in from front desk. Room was a good size, on the executive floor - had a balcony but the door to it was locked (seemed to be out of action). The room was furnished adequately but is quite old and has minor areas of disrepair. Room service was the fastest I've ever had in a hotel and had a really convenient online system for ordering (very innovative, well done). The Hotel is in a great location, close to Quayside and town centre. The lobby is beautiful and spacious. We didn't get time to try out the gym and pool sadly. One of the annoying things was the time we had to wait for the concierge (who didn't ever seem to be at the desk) both on checking in our bags and picking them up again after check-out. Also when paying £600 for two nights I expect something bigger than a standard double bed! On balance we enjoyed our stay. The price point is probably not in keeping with the experience (but inflation is no doubt at play here) but if the other 4/5 star hotels are booked up, the Hilton is a solid choice for a weekend stay.

Poor view though, extractor didn't work in bathroom, air con was poor, couldn't get below 22.5degrees, and no windows open which made it quite stuffy. We would still return and maybe pay for an executive room next time, expensive though for what it is. Gym was good but in a poor location.

The reception staff misinformed us about afternoon tea. Also incorrect about room payment when the room was already prepaid. Stayed in an Executive Room however there were noplug points near the bedside tables, No mirror over the dressing table and the one long mirror that was in the room was in a dark spot.

Excellent car parking, bar area and staff. Pool was good, food was ok. Room for a deluxe room was very very tired, marked walls, furniture was damaged, old fashioned bathroom, no robes or water which I thought came with a deluxe room, nice view of the river though the windows were very dirty . The hotel we have heard is being renovated which will help so much, it definitely needs it in some of the rooms.

Definitely would not recommend this hotel. Stayed with my disabled mother for 3 nights couldn’t increase temperature in the room even after I reported it. First night room service was mediocre but extremely expensive. Second day room wasn’t serviced at all had to ring and complain. Third day again room wasn’t serviced while we were out had to speak to person in corridor and ask for teabags milk etc. parking charge was expensive considering the car park was on site. Thought with it being the Hilton chain we would have received excellent service but obviously not!

The room was clean and nicely laid out (electric sockets well positioned). The view from our room was amazing. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite. The bar had a good range of drinks to choose from, and executive bar was a nice added touch. Breakfast was very nice and a wide range of choices could be made, and the breakfast serving times were ok.

I have just had an awful experience checking in and would like to make a complaint. I paid on Hotels.com before arrival and when I came to check in they said they needed a credit card to guarantee my room. I only had my phone and they wouldn’t accept that as it needed to be a physical card. They asked me to take a seat to download their app and sign in to add a card to that. I did this but the card I added wasn’t suitable. They said they sometimes have a problem with Visa! I tried to add another card but they said it doesn’t accept adding a different card. They basically told me it was company policy to not let me check-in. They were overly polite and telling me not to be concerned and stressed even though I couldn’t check in. I found them patronising and cold. I visibly had tears in my eyes and then finally the duty manager then said I could check-in and pay the guarantee charge of £30 (refunded after check-out) in my room on the app. I asked why they didn’t let me do that earlier and they said it was a last resort. So basically I was in reception nearly half an hour and had to ask to see the manager and get physically upset before they would check me in. Thanks Hilton, amazing customer services!

Lovely hotel, great location. Ladies at the front desk are on some sort of scam. One told me it was £15 to check in before 2 at 1:45 so I said we'd wait the 15 minutes later. 15 minutes later I was told by a different lady that it was £15 to check in before 3pm. Seemed a bit of a coincidence that the story changed.

The reception staff misinformed us about afternoon tea. Also incorrect about room payment when the room was already prepaid. Stayed in an Executive Room however there were noplug points near the bedside tables, No mirror over the dressing table and the one long mirror that was in the room was in a dark spot.

we had the worst e learned on check in we had five rooms booked they could t find our rooms gave us four keys and disputed for over an hour that they didn't have the fifth booking the girls 50 th birthday we booked for had to wait for over an hour to get a room . the lady went round each room to se what she'd allocated to realise her self that the fifth room hadn't been given to us . we then had food and table reservations at above in the vermont of which we missed our reservation due to the check in nightmare so we were left without any food and missed our reservation . wouldn't stay here again !

No shower gel in the shower. And when we came back late admittedly, within 15 mins we had security at the door telling us we had to be quiet, tv not on music not on literally waiting for a take away to arrive. No we have had a call and please can you quieten down it was super heavy handed with 2 men at the door!

It was the first time here the only downside was all the road works. The wife isn't to good with her legs so had to use the car to get around. When we went out we never got to get back to the hotel without travelling round the city.

Amazing service at the hotel, it is situated on a steep hill, if you are travelling from Quayside to the hotel across the red small swing bridge. Hotel room was a little outdated with cracked bathroom tiles, chipped bath and the sheer curtain was a little dirty at the bottom, lampshade was a little dirty too. But staff was so helpful when needing anything, and they did text message when getting into the room to make sure everything was ok.

A one night stay re a business trip. Hotel was superb but disappointed that after paying for hotel there was an additional 15.00 to park. We only had breast the hotel and this was average considering the cost. We also had a drink in the bar, again. Very expensive and the beer appeared to be flat half way down. We may stay again for the convenience but will likely have all food and drink elsewhere

The room was clean and nicely laid out (electric sockets well positioned). The view from our room was amazing. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite. The bar had a good range of drinks to choose from, and executive bar was a nice added touch. Breakfast was very nice and a wide range of choices could be made, and the breakfast serving times were ok.

The hotel restaurant offered a bad service. The kitchen didn’t bring our main courses for at least 1 hr after our starters were finished. The waitress explained they had a private function on and that had used up all the French fries and we could only have sweet potatoes with our food. The battered fish had a strong smell of rancid fish. However, the waiting staff were excellent and diligent. We had some drinks in the bar area and that was excellent. The service were excellent. It was a shame we were let down by the Kitchen. The rooms were lovely and comfortable for a family,

We travelled for an event at the Utilita. Access to the hotel was easy and about 15-20 minutes from the airport by taxi. The hotel was clean and beautifully presented in public areas and the bedrooms. The bed was comfortable and a choice of pillows for a restful sleep. The bedrooms were well equipped with a stunning view through a large window in the room. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and had breakfast included in our tariff. The food was excellent with a wide choice. One of our party is celiac and the hotel have an admirable policy which met her health needs perfectly. She was very impressed and thinks it’s the best stay she’s ever had in a hotel to cater for her condition. They had even marked the room to alert staff to her condition so when we arrived at breakfast, they were expecting her with the gluten free menu. Nothing was too much trouble. We were very impressed. The staff were friendly and attentive. All in all, a great stay and excellent value for money.

I don’t normally review branded hotels like the Hilton as they’re a big enough company and they’re normally just ‘okay’. However, this one was a bit different. The hotel staff had the normal, northern friendliness and charm. Although the bed was only a double in the one we stayed in, it was very comfy as were the pillows. The hotel was clean and although you can spot the odd well-worn parts if you look carefully, they are currently in the process of a refurb to deal with this. It was the breakfast that impressed me the most; a great choice and really good standard of cooking for buffet-style food. Overall, the ‘big chain’ hotel I’ve stayed in for a while, and all for £75 for a night inc breakfast for four. Bargain!

Tired hotel. Queued for breakfast. Food was cold. Air con in room is noisy and ineffective. Concierge brought a fan which helped. On a positive note it's an easy walk across the bridge for a lively town centre.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location with beautiful views, and the breakfast staff were particularly welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was let down by poor customer service. The reception staff were not especially friendly, check-in took far longer than expected, and we were incorrectly told that our stay hadn't been paid for when it had. We were also never informed that a code was needed to receive the discounted parking rate, which resulted in unnecessary inconvenience. The biggest disappointment, however, was the leisure centre. The staff there were exceptionally rude and unhelpful, which really overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable stay. It's a shame, as the hotel itself has a lot to offer, but the level of customer service needs significant improvement

Stayed in deluxe room, so great view of river and the city. Impressive view at nighttime. Not the best air con but fine enough. Bathroom fairly dated but clean and has everything you need. Well priced for a 4 star hotel. Would be happy to stay there again if in Newcastle.
