Pestana Palace Lisboa Hotel & National Monument - The Leading Hotels of the World

This is not a five star property, the photos on the site mainly show the old main building which if you stay in a large suite then it’s ok but the majority stay in the annex buildings which are out of date in bad repair and are noisy beyond compare. So we stayed ten days the pool was never heated the menu was restricted because the main kitchen/chef was being maintained For 10 days!!!!!! Overall this property is good to visit for a photo and then leave it and stay in the center of Lisbon.

Et utroligt smukt og velholdt sted. Personalet var altid søde og hjælpsomme. Morgenmadsbuffeten var overdådig, og Allegro baren lavede skønne drinks og dejlig mad. Værelserne var altid rene og pæne og manglede intet. Vi kan klart anbefale at bruge spaen!

Throughly enjoyed our stay at Pestana Palace, did not want it to end! The building is as beautiful as the photos, the room was charming, very comfortable bed, incredible buffet breakfast and facilities (pools, gym, sauna and steam room). Very friendly and helpful staff. My only critisism is the price of the drinks at the pool, €42 for two aperol spritz is a bit crazy! Overall, brilliant stay and we will be back.

I highly recommend Pestana Palace for its amazing staff, incredible breakfast, indoor and outdoor pools, beautiful grounds, quiet location and delicious room service. This is one of my top three hotels in the world! Perfect for families and adults. If you are concerned about the location, don't be. It's perfectly relaxing and a cheap Uber ride anywhere. Thank you for an amazing nine days in Portugal!

We had such an amazing time! The pool was great and the grounds were gorgeous.

Sauna y turco pésimos, los tienen sólo para cumplir. El servicio del staff del bar es excelente! Las dos piscinas son muy lindas. Desayuno bueno.

We had very nice room ! We liked the park and the pool. Breakfasts were really good! I did not like a gym. Machines are old and AC did not work properly during our stay.

Terrible hard bed no mattress topper on it for one night it was like sleeping in the floor when raised with management told no one else had an issue - the next night the bed had a topper on. Sunbeds awful, no service by the pool would not recommend.

Everything was great, but the valet parking staff was excellent and vey helpful

The hotel is amazing! We have traveled all over the world and this is one of my favorite hotels from all of the ones that I have visited. If you were going to Lisbon this is the hotel you need to stay in if you love history, artwork, Turkish baths, beautiful pools And excellent service

A very grand property with excellent staff. Clean, quiet and friendly. The breakfast was very goid.

Ein wunderschönes Hotel in einem gut erhaltenen Palast und einem tollen Garten. Der Speisesaal und die Bar in herrschaftlichen Räumen. Alles sehr schön eingerichtet und gepflegt. Frühstücksbuffet super ließ keine Wünsche offen. Poolanlage innen und außen sehr schön und sauber besonders schön ist der Aussenpool. Der Saunabereich etwas sehr klein aber schön. Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Der Service ist sehr gut.

This is probably the best hotel I've been to. Service was extremely kind and generous. Breakfast was great, the whole hotel was clean

Clean room, excellent amenities, outstanding staff and customer services across everywhere in the hotel, beautiful and historic and one of the best hotels we have stayed and travelled extensively as well

We had three rooms in total. The housekeeping is a disgrace: It was very random how towels were being replaced despite the fact that they were left in the bathtub as instructed. On monday your housekeeping had behaved like a tornado a power socket was lying on the floor (see picture) and they had dropped and broken my razor. The blades get shaken if they experience a heavy hit. On tuesday they had made the bed with three pillows only leaving the fourth pillow naked on the armchair. The power socket of the floor lamp did not work leaving the room very dark in the evenings. On Monday the housekeeping had taken all the towels leaving no replacements. It had to be asked twice before new towels arrived. This delayed our evening plans. F&B On Tuesday at the breakfast service all the hot food was cold at 10.20 AM even there was still 40 minutes of service time left. Potato croquets were served raw on Monday and Tuesday. Also the breakfast service was rude and careless throughout our stay. On Saturday there was a wedding making most of the public spaces inaccessible in the main building. There were no waiting staff or guidance where the normal hotel guests should be going. On Sunday it got worse as you had both a wedding and an evening marketing reception. At the latter event loud bad music continued to late hours. One could not escape it. There are a few positives. The front desk staff is very helpful and the service at Casa do Lago is excellent. Moreover, your gardening is super.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 estrelas) O hotel é realmente majestoso, muito bem cuidado e com um estilo clássico impressionante. Um ponto forte é que eles oferecem garagista, o que dá mais conforto. Vale a pena pela beleza e pela estrutura em si. No entanto, o serviço não acompanha o padrão esperado de um 5 estrelas. Na recepção, o atendimento em geral não é acolhedor nem sorridente (com algumas exceções). O housekeeping deixou a desejar: tivemos que insistir várias vezes para receber toalhas no quarto e, quando finalmente trocaram a cama, os lençóis estavam úmidos. Além disso, não houve desculpas nem boa vontade para resolver o problema. O room service também é bastante limitado: fecha às 23h, o que é incomum para um hotel desse nível. Ao ligar para pedir algo após esse horário, a recepção apenas sugeriu usar Uber Eats — e ainda tive que descer até a recepção para buscar a entrega, o que não condiz com a categoria anunciada. Outro ponto negativo foi a garrafa de boas-vindas prometida na reserva, que só recebi no momento do checkout, após três dias de estadia. 📌 Resumindo: o hotel é lindo e vale pela experiência visual, mas o serviço está longe de corresponder ao que se espera de um 5 estrelas.

Not so good - tired, unclean, noisy

Séjour catastrophique chambre très très bruyante, piscine sale, service pas à la hauteur d’un palace . A fuir !

While the location is easy to taxi to all major sites and the gardens, pool and setting are good the hotel is very tired. We had a garden suite and our view (seen below) was of weeds and the room itself was incredibly tired, felt dark with the windows blowing open and roof had water damage. Breakfast was a mass attack with conference attendees and wedding guests so very little service around for coffee or extras beyond the buffet. The main house was a series of spectacular rooms with aging furniture that while period were showing signs of their age, both in terms of comfort and looks. The hotel has the potential but alas is like a visit to an overused hotel in need of investment. Maybe 4 star but definitely not 5 and had it been marketed as that we may have given a better rating.

Stunning building and property, very elegant and comfortable. Stayed in the new wing which was very spacious, classically decorated and comfortable.

Beautifully palace that need urgently a refurbish. Very old rooms. Very very limited closet space.

This is a palace suited for a prince/princess. Has olden style victorian decor and furnishings. Great staff. They constantly spray scents around the propety so it will smell exquisite. Everything is great except the rooms have no sound isolation so you will hear what other people are doing next door especiallh when they do xxx but thats ok as long as they are not noisy all the time.

We stayed in the "extension building" which doesn't look like the palace - not as opulent, cared for or stunning. The furniture, woodwork, carpet, and furniture in our room was dated, worn and needing replacement. The shower was so small it was difficult to use. Towel warmer nice but service slow. We tried multiple times on 2 different days to reach the front desk and it just rang. One day we waited for our car for 15 minutes - and when we checked - no one was getting it. This made us late for a reservation. We had a dinner in the restaurant that was OK - not great - disappointing for a special meal and the price - especially considering there were only a few other tables. We received great service at check in and it went down from there. Nothing terrible - but a number of misses and things delayed, unresponsive and tired. Beautiful in public areas but not the stay we wanted to relish.

Bella struttura. La piscina è una delle migliori che abbia mai visto. Camera un po’ piccola ma comoda.

Such a beautiful and historic place! It’s not just an overnight stay, it’s a full on experience not to be missed. The rooms were more modern and built around the stunning palace at the centre, but everything was comfortable and clean. The food was also amazing, we had a 6 course set menu with wine and it was well worth the price. The restaurant was rather busy and we had to wait an extremely long time to be seated, over but the Gifinal experience was fabulous

The property was excellent but the rooms are very dark and no extra lights or lamps to be provided to the customers. We asked so many times if we can have extra light but no one responded or reach out.

Excellent service-the Bellman ( I do not recall his name) was the friendliest and most helpful that I recall. Jessica was our server for many meals at the restaurant and she was great

We like this hotel facilities. It is a beautiful hotel. The only thing we feel unsatisfied is the staff. Except the front desk employees, no other employees smile or say “hello” to customers. It looks like none of them are happy working here. It doesn’t like a 5 stars hotel service.

Sorprendente el mal servicio en diferentes áreas, y más que malo, ausente. Uno llega 8 de la noche al restaurante y no hay nadie que te de mesa, vas a la entrada y no hay nadie que te traiga tu coche, nadie te quita los platos en el desayuno, pero lo más increíble que nos pasó fue que nos quedamos sin luz en el cuarto, hablamos a recepción y después de una hora nadie había venido a arreglar el problema. Llamamos a recepción la siguiente media hora y nadie nos contestaba, llamamos incluso al teléfono externo del hotel y nada. Sorprendente. Finalmente un señor vino a dejar una botella de cortesía y el amablemente por su radio llamo al de mantenimiento que vino a arreglar el problema rápidamente. Nunca había vivido una experiencia así de rara. A eso hay que agregar un cargo fantasma a mi cuarto que tuve que discutir, otra cosa que no me pasa nunca.

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the start, the customer service was horrible. I had to carry my own luggage to the room, and during check-in the front desk lady seemed to be mocking my appearance simply because I was carrying a backpack. The overall service felt dismissive and unwelcoming, almost as if guests are only treated well if they “look” a certain way. At breakfast, I felt uncomfortable and out of place the entire time—the atmosphere was anything but inclusive or hospitable. I cannot recommend this hotel unless you fit the image of the clientele they seem to cater to. Otherwise, expect to be treated poorly. Will not be returning.

Fantastic property!!! The best customer service we have experienced in a very long time. Would stay there again and again!!! Loved it!!

The grounds are spectacular- we enjoyed perusing the rooms, the halls, walkways, etc. and were impressed by the attentiveness of the staff and friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend!!!

Het is een prachtig hotel, heerlijke tuin met een mooi zwembad. De kamers zijn goed en het restaurant was geweldig... Maar, helaas één grote tegenvaller: bij het uitchecken de betaling voor restaurant, bar en parkeren voldaan, echter de eerdere pre-authorisations op mijn creditcard (ruim €560,-) werden niet ongedaan gemaakt. Zelfs na meerdere telefoontjes en emails en vele toezeggingen vanuit het hotel heb ik het geld nog steeds niet terug, twee weken later inmiddels. De Pestana support afdeling legt het bij de receptie neer, en de receptie antwoord nergens op. Slechte service welke ik nog nooit zo h3b meegemaakt in een 5-sterren hotel. Erg jammer!

The property itself was beautiful; an early 20th century Palace with lovely gardens. Most of the staff were very accomodating and helpful, but for one rude and stiff front desk clerk. We were disappointed as this staff person demanded the application of their cancelation policy be adhered to, when we had a circumstance that prevented us from making the first night of our 3 day stay. His stingy insistance colored the luxury experie we had hoped for and expected, and because of it, we will not again patronize the Pestana Hotels.

Majestic property situated on beautifully landscaped grounds. Great views of the 25 de Abril Bridge and a short drive into both downtown Lisbon or Costa da Caparica if you're looking for beautiful beaches and dining along the coast. The hotel breakfast buffet was top notch and service all around was excellent. Highly recommend!

Not many restaurants around this area.

This is a lovely and well run hotel. The grounds are lovely and the old Palace building is stunning. All of the staff were incredibly helpful, but never over the top. We didn’t try the restaurant but the bar food was excellent, if a little pricey. I’d thoroughly recommend this hotel, however there are a couple of point to note; It’s a little bit out of the way in a largely residential area. It’s a 25 min walk to the visitor attractions in Belem and further to the main areas of Lisbon. However, the bus and tram run frequently from a street behind the hotel and get you to the train station for about €2 The rooms could possibly do with a little updating, but our room was spotless and comfortable. The gardens are lovely and breakfast in the gardens is fab. If you want to eat out, there isn’t a huge amount in the area, although there’s a great little bar/restaurant called Jubel about a five minute walk away. They serve variations on traditional Portuguese food and it pretty inexpensive. Overall, thoroughly recommend 👍

Un endroit hyper agréable et d'une beauté inégalée. Une expérience à vivre. En plus, le transport en commun pour se rendre au centre de Lisbonne est à un coin de rue. Nous recommandons fortement cet établissement à tous les touristes qui désirent visiter Lisbonne.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The surrounding area is quiet and safe. This hotel is not in the city center and a long walk to Belem so if you want to see tourists sites and shop without having to taxi or uber this may not be for you. Uber to city center was only 10 euro. Lovely lovely hotel.

Great property, but just a bit off the beaten path for a tourist.

This hotel is spacious like a royal palace, with lots of plants and birds. The jacaranda trees are beautiful, the breeze is pleasant, and there is a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy meals and desserts until late. The staff were very friendly and the conversation was enjoyable. I would like to use this hotel again when I'm in Lisbon. The Tower of Benin and the Monument to the Discoveries are nearby.

The hotel and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The breakfast is amazing !!!! The staff is polite. We were only ever in for breakfast so we didn’t have much interaction outside of it but they were all nice regardless. The area though is quite far from everything although there’s ways to get metro and stuff. We mostly just used cabs. Also no Jacuzzi !!! I thought they had one !! Overall I recommend they stay !!

Wonderful relaxing stay. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We ended up trying all of the restaurants and everything was delicious, plus lots of breakfast options.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! And the restaurant had incredible food and service. Overall, this place is lacking in nothing. I plan to return again some day.

Hotel have 2 restaurants; one "traditional" and one "fast food style" Asian restaurant( reseption did not explain difference and reserved a table at the Asian restaurant( in Portugal!!). Bar applied two different prices for same drink....Cleaner woke us up for room service( cleaning) at 08.45hrs

Impressive and historic hotel, excellent food and friendly and helpful staff.

Good experience here at the Pestana palace hotel. The hotel was a great base for our trip as we had planned a hybrid city and beach break - so the location allowed us to easily go city centre or out to the coast and Cascais. The room itself was clean and tidy - but a little worn in places, and the bathroom similar. It didn’t have the crisp feel of a 5* hotel, but we were very comfortable there. We chose a room with a balcony and this was disappointing; as we had a garden view - but actually looked at a bush… and had no view. Facilities in the hotel were good overall, the gym was compact but adequate, and the pool was nice. Breakfast was superb, with a vast offfering - but on each day the eggs were stone cold. We were disappointed that the gardens were barren and not luscious and full of flower, given this is such a vast area of the hotel. Our final disappointment was the cost of a drink - 9euros for a large beer at the pool is ridiculous. It’s a shame the inside of the palace doesn’t have a vibey atmosphere on an evening, and a shame the prices aren’t a little keener as we would have loved to enjoy those rooms but found them empty and costly to have an aperitif in. Overall, nice hotel - would revisit, but lacks that 5* charm. Would call it a 4* with an amazing feature of the palace.

Lovely setting convenient for the congress centre. Coffee at breakfast is not freshly brewed - v poor.

Boende i slottsmiljö. Otroligt fint i huvudbyggnaden, rummen i den ”nyare delen” kändes mer mörka o något omoderna. Bra service vid poolen där det bjöds på munkar på eftermiddagen vilket barnen älskade! Tyvärr var servicen vid frukosten dålig. De glömde bort beställningar och inte en enda dag fick vi kaffet till frukosten utan det kom först när vi ätit färdigt. I övrigt var frukosten väldigt god! Massor med frukt och bra urval. Hotellet ligger i lugnt område med ca 15 min gångväg till LX Factory. Väldigt fint poolområde med både en utomhuspool och inomhuspool där den sista var uppvärmd.

We loved this beautiful hotel that has so much history. Fantastic breakfast and good spa facilities. Definitely would return!

I enjoy the reception desk. They always remember us. As well as the restaurant staff. The breakfast buffet is amazing .
