Immediately upon our arrival, the condition of the room brought us back to the front desk seeking to leave - mold in the bathroom, a musty smell, and bugs in the room. We were declined a refund but the room was so bad that we left anyway. I don’t know where the positive reviews are coming from - assumedly from ownership. The hotel was advertised on Hotels.com as good for couples; it was more like a daycare when we arrived. Screaming kids, a medieval theme, and play toys out … it turns out the screaming kids were the manager’s kids. The room was horrible and the staff (one person in particular) was nothing short of abrasive. The hotel pickings are fairly slim in Lucca but we ended up in the boutique hotel, right outside of the city wall; it was great.

I don`t normally write a poor review, but having spent decent money on this booking for 3 nights we were very dissapointed in many aspects. Firstly it`s not clear on Hotels.com that this a B&B only. Suggest that should be in the title. We lost the small piece of paper with the gate code upon returning from town and tried the number on hotels.com which didn`t work. We then tried the Whats App number provided but nobody answered. There was no buzzer on the gate. We only managed to enter the premises with the help of fellow guests. Recommendation in the future is that once booked you are provided with the gate codes on your app. The other issue was we required ear plugs as the walls are so thin you can hear the next room putting their clothes hangers back in their wardrobe and using the bathroom. There`s a pool bar, but not staffed. Never did find the lounge!! Photo`s look great but that`s about the highlight.

What a great stay this was. Staff were unbelievably attentive and really made the holiday for us. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Swimming pool and bar was excellent for food and drink throughout the day. Never felt busy and was always very peaceful. Breakfast was great. Well organised and always clean. Again, staff were excellent and always available if you needed something. Rooms are basic but have air con which was well needed in the summer. We had a 2 room family suite which was great for our family of four with two teenagers. Centre of Lucca is an easy 15-20min walk but taxi’s are readily available within 10mins of booking if you prefer. We hired bikes one evening from the hotel which were perfect to get around the city wall. If we come back to Lucca, we will definitely book again.

Couldn’t rate this property or its staff highly enough. The pool and gardens are the best I’ve seen. The staff especially Georgia were friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. I would definitely recommend.
