The hotel's standard does not justify a £120 per night rate. It feels more like a hostel than a hotel. The staff have an unhelpful attitude and cannot give directions to the hidden car park. The process to obtain a parking key is inconvenient - you have to park, pay, and then go into reception to get a key, even though there's nowhere to park without it. They could easily buzz you in from the intercom and you could pay during check-in, but they seem to strictly adhere to the current process. The bathroom is in a bad state and needs refurbishment. I believe the rate should be no more than £50 per night.

We had a nice 2 night stay here. Helpful and friendly check-in with instructions as to where to park our car.... it was very safe in underground garage. Unfortunately the lift in the hotel wasn't working and although we are in no way incapacitated, it was a bit of a trudge to the 2nd floor and down a long corridor with heavy cases. the receptionist DID offer to help though. Our room was quiet, warm and clean, with a comfortable bed, although the shower tray could have been a bit cleaner. We had a meal in the cellar bar Racks one evening. The food was good but it was very noisy with a stag party in the adjoining room. However, the Clifton is in a nice area and handy for visiting the bridge and other places of interest. We would definitely stay there again. The outside needs a bit of TLC.

Good value hotel, especially considering the location. Room was clean with all the usual stuff. Good shower and there was undercover secure parking for an extra charge, which was well worth it. Down side; didn’t find the bed that comfortable, but that’s probably down to personal preference. Overall I’d definitely recommend

Refreshments replaced without needing to ask. Fridge handy. Would rate higher if the spec of the room was better. Lift out of order however hotel called prior to arrival to warn of this.

Only required a bed for 1 night. Lift out of order so had to use stairs up 3 levels, fine for me but not for anyone with mobility issues. Restaurant on site, menus & service options in room, I didn't use as visited family local to hotel. Room well presented, good supply of teas & coffee, bowl of fruit, mini fridge, radio & TV, en suite shower room. Will use again.

The hotel looks a bit tired and in need of a refurb (it appears to be in the middle of being done up) The room we were in had not been hoocered and there were biscuit crumbs on the floor. We asked to move rooms which was accomodated but the second room was still not very clean. The decor was also scuffed and dated. There were bleach marks on the quilt on the bed and paint marks on the chair. The shower tray flooded when using the shower as well. However, the staff were friendly and helpful and did apologise for these errors and provided a small discount which was a nice gesture. Still, dissapointing standards considering we paid nearly £100 per night.

Disgusting on the corridor. One room had left KFC chicken bones outside the door and the corridor stank. In the room there was no bag inside the toilet bin. When drawing the curtains there were blood stains on them which I reported to reception. I checked out after 10 mins. Was like hell!

Start with the positives, the outdoor / basement bar was very Mediterranean with a lovely feel to it. Nice to sit outside until late enjoying a few drinks. The choice was excellent too. We were staying close to the Uni for my daughters graduation. As for the rooms, we arrived to a dirty towel left in the shower and a glass by the foot of the door. There is no air conditioning which meant the room was very uncomfortable, the fan helpful but noisy. The hotel has a very tired feel to it and the tiny car park was stressful to say the least.

Check in was good. Pleasant young lady and so far so good. Room small but fine for one night. Bathroom very small. Guess you just made the most of the room afforded but well built individuals would struggle for room. Cleaning was poor. We were treading on crisps left by the previous occupier. Would I stay again? Probably but need a bigger room.

Had to get the light bulb replaced. Bed was full of dirt under the duvet and a handful of small white moths flew out when i pulled it back. Tap water only run hot no matter which way you swivel it so i had to buy bottled water for the kettle. There was a loud droning buzz all night which i assume was from an extraction fan and it vibrates the whole bed I could not sleep even with earplugs in.

The staff were excellent both at reception and for breakfast. Very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely, good choice and quick service. The only downside to the stay was the double bed was very small, the curtains needed some attention as they were hanging off the rail, also the bathroom could do with some TLC, new flooring and a good scrub around the shower doors. The signal for the tv was temperamental and ITV was not available. Overall though the room was clean and we enjoyed our stay.

The check in was fine. The room was on the ground floor above a night club which were not made aware. The music was so loud that we were unable to hear the TV and trying to get to sleep was pointless, at one point people were banging on the ceiling which was our floor!! This has got to be the worst Hotel room I have ever stayed in. Also the shower head won't hold up when you have a shower. On a positive the bedding was crisp and clean. Room 12 avoid. When we checked out they said the management would be in touch!!!! Still waiting.

Lovely room if a little dated in terms of decor and where sockets were (nowhere near the bed!). Shame breakfast starts later on a Saturday as it sounded lovely but I had to be in work just after it started.

Everyone at reception was helpful and friendly. Great central location. There was a heatwave and despite being provided a fan the room was extremely hot. Not much the hotel can do about it but might be worth considering a newer hotel with air con instead if travelling during heat waves.

Good stuff , staff were lovely. Food tasty. Cooked breakfast excellent. Not so good stuff. Room No 67 is tiny bathroom was even smaller. £10 extra to park in carpark. That should be mentioned in pre book info . £111 to stay for 1 night in a sub par room is not great value.

The rooms are a little small, and the walls are paper thin, which is reasonable given the price... BUT - there is a club in the basement, and it's so loud, you might as well be in there. All the way from about 7 till just gone midnight. We stayed on a Saturday night, so other nights you might get lucky.

Chloe and Flo’s welcome on the front desk was the best way to start a day for a cranky overtired traveller such as myself. The guys serving the breakfast were equally friendly and spritely. They have the best staff and the hotel location and setting are gggGGGREAT!

A lovely hotel with very helpful staff. The only downside is noise from a cellar wine bar. I was fortunately able to change room. However, ground floor rooms can be disturbed by noisy parties.

Super value and a very nice breakfast. Also the best WiFi I’ve ever experienced in any hotel; puts a lot of bigger hotels and chains to shame - super fast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome. Reception staff and check in excellent. The room was lovely. Very clean and with good coffee etc. I will definitely make this my first choice in Bristol.

I had a call a week before the booking and advised the representative from the hotel that my family have a early start in the lining and the lady said she would put my family in the quiet part of the hotel…… the room was above a noisy area and the window wouldn’t close after the staff member trying himself… no other rooms available. I spoke to the hotel and they promised a call for the Duty Manager in the morning….. still no call back as courtesy…. Dreadful example of a hotel.

Lovely hotel in my favorite area in Bristol. Sadly all the many positives were outweighed when on arriving home i received a email where hotel accused me of stealing a £2 bottle of sparkling water from the mini bar. Such a shame and has totally spoiled the entire stay.

The check in was fine. The room was on the ground floor above a night club which were not made aware. The music was so loud that we were unable to hear the TV and trying to get to sleep was pointless, at one point people were banging on the ceiling which was our floor!! This has got to be the worst Hotel room I have ever stayed in. Also the shower head won't hold up when you have a shower. On a positive the bedding was crisp and clean. Room 12 avoid. When we checked out they said the management would be in touch!!!! Still waiting.

Chloe and Flo’s welcome on the front desk was the best way to start a day for a cranky overtired traveller such as myself. The guys serving the breakfast were equally friendly and spritely. They have the best staff and the hotel location and setting are gggGGGREAT!

Good location, friendly service, nice breakfast. Room was quite small but quiet. I thought the noise from the bar might be a problem but actually didn’t disturb us past about 11pm. All in all in line with what I would expect from a 3 star hotel

Fantastic weekend stay at the Clifton Hotel. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I stayed in room 50 and it was the comfiest hotel bed I have ever slept in. Very convenient for exploring Clifton and the surrounding areas.

The staff were excellent both at reception and for breakfast. Very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely, good choice and quick service. The only downside to the stay was the double bed was very small, the curtains needed some attention as they were hanging off the rail, also the bathroom could do with some TLC, new flooring and a good scrub around the shower doors. The signal for the tv was temperamental and ITV was not available. Overall though the room was clean and we enjoyed our stay.

Super value and a very nice breakfast. Also the best WiFi I’ve ever experienced in any hotel; puts a lot of bigger hotels and chains to shame - super fast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent

We had a nice 2 night stay here. Helpful and friendly check-in with instructions as to where to park our car.... it was very safe in underground garage. Unfortunately the lift in the hotel wasn't working and although we are in no way incapacitated, it was a bit of a trudge to the 2nd floor and down a long corridor with heavy cases. the receptionist DID offer to help though. Our room was quiet, warm and clean, with a comfortable bed, although the shower tray could have been a bit cleaner. We had a meal in the cellar bar Racks one evening. The food was good but it was very noisy with a stag party in the adjoining room. However, the Clifton is in a nice area and handy for visiting the bridge and other places of interest. We would definitely stay there again. The outside needs a bit of TLC.

The hotel was loverly and friendly . The rooms were clean and respectable. Great Breakfast and service. My only complaint was about the noise from Bar across road and people leaving quite late mainly students. However it did mention this on website that some times it could be noisy due to bar below hotel . No mention of bar and terrace across the road.

The staff, at both check-in and breakfast, were excellent: friendly, efficient and welcoming. The breakfast/bar area was well done. Despite being in the basement it didn't feel at all gloomy. The breakfast itself was very good, with toast, cereal, juices etc in a buffet, and a choice of dishes cooked to order. I enjoyed my full English. The rooms themselves were clean, but undeniably tired, and the bathrooms are rather small. Overall, though, the hotel provides a convenient base if you want or need to be on the Clifton side of the city.

Väldigt trevligt hotel, andra gången jag stannar här nu, lihger väldigt fint i Bristol och har en väldigt bra frukost. Ligger när flera busshållplatser så de är lätt att ta sig runt. Väldigt vänlig personal som.låna ut en adapter när jag glömde min hemma.

Good location, lovely staff and good restaurant / bar. However the rooms were hotter than the Sahara. The windows were limited to open due to safety, but we could open it maybe 3-4 inches max... Some bars across the window would make far more sense and allow people to get fresh air in rooms that have no air conditioning. The bed itself was clean, but the throw it was made up with was filthy, stained velvet style and really let the room down, especially for the money you inevitably pay for the location.

So this is a budget hotel. Good location, great staff, clean rooms bar seems decent and good selection of drinks and food. July 2026 has had a bunch of heat waves and as advertised the hotel lacks air con due to its listed status. The room we stayed in (28) had a large sash window which was restricted to opening a smaller 8 inch wide window approx 6 inches, a gap about the size of a house brick. To say the temperature in the room was warm is to but it mildly, I'd guess it was at least 28-30° whilst the outside temperature was about 22° A fans provided but its just blowing warm air around. There is air con in the hallways oddly and the heat difference between the two was very noticeable. Im sure in winter this wouldn't be an issue at all but just be aware for the warmer months.
