Eureka Town House Motel - Historic Old Town

The room is a little tired, but everything was clean. Having chargers for EVs was a nice touch, but the parking lot is really tight if you have a minivan or pick-up. Most of the rooms on are on the second floor, and there\'s no elevator. The worst thing is the check-in. There was no attendant. Everything was done via an off-shore call center, and the connection was wonky. Given his accent, I guessed that the attendant was in the Philippines, but when I asked him where he was, and all he would say was that he was in the "back-up office." It doesn\'t really matter where he was if the check-in was done via an online kiosk, but his dodging the question was weird. We had a family suite, which was nice to have the girls in another room for a change instead of in the adjoining bed. Overall, the hotel was a decent place to stay for the price.

It was clean, but we weren't told that there was a fee to use the EV charger until we were literally walking out the door to check out.

The motel was reasonably priced and had a good location, walkable to historic old town sights, shops, and restaurants. That said, the actual block that it's on is a bit run down and shabby, and the property is located directly across the street from the not-so-picturesque county jail. Remote check-in via video call was a different and kind of cool experience, and just as efficient as the regular face-to-face hotel check-ins that I'm familiar with. Checking out was equally simple. The room was a bit worn around the edges but clean, and the beds were comfy. Our room fronted a rather busy street (and aforesaid jail) and we were a bit concerned about traffic noise, but it was well soundproofed and we weren't bothered. Major con was that the parking spots in the covered lot are TINY and many have posts in between them. They're also on right angles, not on a slant. Our SUV is one of the smallest ones on the market (Subaru Crosstrek) and parking in the garage was still not an option for us due to the configuration and miniature parking spaces. Major pro was the shower. Amazing water pressure, nice and hot for basically as long as you want it to be. Overall I'd probably stay again for the walkable location and reasonable rate, assuming I'm driving a sub-compact vehicle next time.

Paking was a challenge

Not a good area, lots of tweakers everywhere, no front desk staff, all digital. Not terrible considering the price. The bed was clean and the shower had hot water. The parking It's very small and downstairs. Just pretty outdated and cheap. Not bad for work travel

Check-in was over a computer terminal and monitor with a clerk, no actual live person. Hotel was cheap and you get what you pay for, got the jacuzzi tub room (don't waste your money), it didn't work, room looked run down, bed was not comfy, had a musty smell.

I had the room with the jet tub. That was so nice after a long day of travel and then a long day of business meetings the next day. Will choose this option again if I am back in the area.

Very easy to walk to many food establishments Right on Highway 101, so easy access. Like being on 2nd story, no elevator, but not a big deal for us. First time with “zoom” check in. Went really smooth, but so different. A great value.

The facility was easy to find. Parking on the ground floor is somewhat tight. Second floor accommodations were good, very quiet and comfortable. Check-in was via a remote workdesk and was actually quite novel and very efficient. Good price for the room and close to the downtown location where the event we were attending was held.

It may look cheesy and a little dirty (from traffic exhaust) from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room furnishings (no lumpy mattress, spotless tiled shower)! The courtyard layout may contribute to the quiet night we had; though rooms on the side street might be louder. We were able to walk to a yummy taqueria (Paco's Tacos) and a cidery (Humboldt Cider Co.)! Bravo...

There was blood on the sheets of my bed when i went to go lie down.

This place is so budget friendly, and the hotel rooms are exceptionally clean. The housekeeper does such an amazing job and it is one of the reasons why we will continue to stay here!

Was much nicer than I was expecting, and check in/out was simple and easy to access. The unit had some ware but not too bad. Could’ve been cleaner but was still great for the price.

The room was extremely run down and a couple of the towels were unclean upon inspection. There was no one in the lobby to check us in. It was done by a zoom call on a computer. Would never pay as much as I did by staying there again.

It was OK, the room did not felt clean, smelly, no on site staff, the beds are warn and uncomfortable.

The Motel is clean enough. The area is in Old Town. Some homeless sleeping around on the streets when going out for morning walks. Motel check-in process is done "remotely" via cameras and scanners.I never saw a physical person, just on camera. On the day of check-out, I did see a maid. There is no daily maid service in the room. Everything was fine for the price point!!.

This hotel is across the street from a correctional institution, is severely outdated, smelled musty & unclean. There was someone else left over food in the fridge. The bathroom & room were not clean (dirty & mold/unkept). The a appeared clean, but exciting end was a complete disappointment.

This place is super clean. The room had no smell! I can’t even get that at a chain hotel. Highly recommend, and I’m picky. Danny was an absolute saint, staying up so I could have a very late check in.

Lived the weather and drive was nice. This hotel is very very outdated and while room was clean the carpets and bedding needs to be replaced/ updated. Corridors had dead plants. I could tell this was a cute hotel 50 years ago.

The townhouse hotel has some major drawbacks that cannot be ignored. Firstly, the walls are incredibly thin, making it easy to hear noise from other rooms and the hallway. This can be very disruptive for those trying to sleep or work. Additionally, the guests staying at this hotel can be quite loud and inconsiderate, further adding to the noise level. However, despite these issues, the hotel's employees are very kind and helpful. They do their best to address any concerns and make guests feel welcome. The price is good for the space and the location is convenient. The room was spacious and clean. Overall, while the noise level and thin walls can be frustrating, the hotel's employees and other factors do make up for some of the shortcomings. It may not be the best option for those seeking a peaceful and restful stay, but it could be a decent choice for those who prioritize friendly staff and convenient location.

Not bad for a night long stay, but need new beds!!! Hard and cheap! Everything else was just fine though.

The building was very old. No people (except wondering maid cleaning rooms). Check-in was all virtual video (nobody at front desk). Which was odd (scanning license, typing email info into a kiosk). Just unwelcoming. Area had lots of drifters. Parking was open to them but office always locked. No people.

Well there was a confusion with someone else with my same name that was on the do not rent list so my reservation had to be canceled but the next day the owner of all three hotels that Bayside in Ramada the super 8 and the townhouse motel called me personally and realized I wasn't the same person that got arrested on the property and lost their deposit so he took them off of my profile and gave me a discounted room along with a free 5-hour early check-in so I thought that was pretty cool that he rectified the situation and then came up to me when I got to the hotel and told me that was his cell phone number if I add any other issues at any of the hotels to give him a call! So very much appreciated

Third time here-the room was ready and clean, linens were clean and crisp, and the TV was great. Bathroom was chilly if the door was left closed, but warmed up quickly. We had to turn the heater off when we went to bed because it was loud, but we were comfortable. It was nice the car was safe under cover; we came back late, and Danny checked to see if we had a room, so no invaders. The first maid gave us extra coffee for the next day. We left, and I realized I left my hearing aids on the table. Danny checked, Beverly the Tuesday maid found them, so we zipped back to retrieve. We spent time in Old Town, which is a handful of blocks away. Enjoyed walking to and from the hotel via 3rd Street which was clean, quiet, and professional. Every time we've been there, staff has been great.

There was no reception person. We were checked by a woman on a computer. There is no onsite staff. The motel is very run down and the neighborhood is dangerous. We are stunned that Expedia gave this 4 stars.

The place doesn't have any staff on site. They have a virtual hostess on a zoom call in the lobby. We had issues with our reservation through Expedia and the woman on the Zoom call was no help at all. The area was sketchy and unappealing. You' be better off spending your money elsewhere and receive actual service.

We brought bicycles and the manager stored them for us in a locked room, so we did not need to keep them on our vehicles. The location was great for our trip, as it is close to down town and the community facilities at the bay.

Great staff, great price, great cleanliness but the area is awful…. Opposite corrections centre and many people living in the streets - not a nice place to walk around. Wouldn’t want to stay here by myself…

Dangerous neighborhood with drug addicts surrounding the property that is across the street from the county jail. Nothing they don’t already know

Quaint parking below hotel rooms. Walkable to downtown. No frills location but exactly what we were looking for for this stay.

The gentleman who checked us in was very pleasant. The room simple but clean and nice for its age. Keep in mind it is one of the most affordable in the area. Walking distance to restaurants. Highly recommend Lost Coast for dining. It’s just down the street. On the negative side street noise is there but earbuds were drowning that out. A couple in a nearby room got into a loud argument around 11:00 pm. He proceeded to puke loudly until about 1:00am. Homeless and drug addicts are in the area. None of this is fault of the owner of the hotel. It’s the environment. But hey, it didn’t cost an arm and a leg like other hotels.

It was cute upstair, the outside was dingy and the area wasnt the best but that eureka for you. It was cute and quiet especially for the price.

I really enjoyed the deep jetted tub. And the one person on staff was trying to be accommodating but I was put off that he was standing there, but I had to go on a screen on a computer to talk to someone off site to check in. Everything else was not "historic old town" it was just old. There was no special attention to restoration and making you feel like you were visiting the past. There was literally no lobby, just a commercial desk area that was locked until the attendant let you in and only one person could fit at a time. The connected dining was not really connected, you had to go out to the street and enter through an exterior door. It was your typical dive bar and would have been fun but no, it was restricted from keeping bar hours and had to close at 10pm "because it was in the same building as the hotel". I guess you get what you pay for since it said it was a 2 star hotel, yup, I gave it 2 stars.

Liked that you could walk to all the activities that were there. And all the restaurants. WE DIDN'T LIKE ALL THE NOISY ROOMS

The check was by remote video. They could not provide the shower chair l needed. The area was not the best surrounding by a prison , sheriff’s office court house etc. Dining was poor in the neighborhood. It was quiet but quite decrepit. Wouldn’t chose to stay again
